I found this game to be fun. There were a lot of mini games that referenced a lot of the Pop Cap famous titles like Bejeweld, Insane Aquarium, etc. I liked that it was a tower defense game but not based on violence like a lot of other tower defense games. I would recommend it if you enjoy a game that requires some strategy but is easy going and fast paced--definitely worth the buy!

The plants are diverse and strategic, the music is fitting and entertaining, the art is just perfect with the music and theme - it was put together really nicely. Gameplay is very funny and simple, but entertaining. There is great replay value with the mini-games, puzzles and survival modes, and the Zen Garden can provide a relaxing contrast while still making in-game money. There are a huge number of combinations of effective defenses that I have experimented with, and I found it all to be quite enjoyable. However, there are a few things I felt needed a bit more work though. The sound quality is a little on the low end, and the graphics could use higher pixel settings. Overall the art isn't the style where it has to be high or look terrible, but I have to play this game with giant black bars on the sides if I do not change the video settings. My other critique would be that overall, the game is too easy. The only thing challenging is Endless Survival mode, which is frantic and great fun - I only wish more of the game was like that. There is also an in-game encyclopedia which has cheesy and rather not funny descriptions of zombies...not sure if that really belongs in a review but it peeved me slightly. Overall I highly recommend this game and I hope the sequel lives up to the original! Expand

A charming and addictive little game with a lot more to do than you bargained for. Aside from the base game there are also mini games, puzzles, and survival modes. Each offers something new and different so there's certainly enough variety to keep you entertained for a while. The only downside is the terrible resolution.

A very enjoyable tower defense game that is worth every penny. There are a variety of different modes, unlockables as well as heaps of different zombies to fight. The game's sense of humour is also fantastic and the graphical style looks really nice. Admittedly the game is a bit easy, but its all so much fun so who cares?! Definitely recommended. Only $2.50 on steam at the moment. Give itA very enjoyable tower defense game that is worth every penny. This is a guideline for how to properly review games. Many reviewers like to get a “feel” for a game, and arbitrarily give a game a score that they believe it deserves. This results in wildly different scores between different reviewers, and vastly different scores between similar games. This guideline addresses these problems and scores games fairly and consistently. This guideline also gives scores that are usually similar to the metacritic score.

The review score is based out of 10 points. There are no “half” or 0.5 increments. It is impossible to have a score above 10 or below 0. The review score will change as the game gets new dlc, drops in price, or if more secrets are found through the game increasing its appeal.

The scoring is split into 6 sections. The first five sections can add a possible 2 points to the final score. The first 5 sections are Single Player/Multi Player, Gameplay, Visuals/Story, Accessibility/Longevity, and Pricing.

Notice that 3 of these sections have two parts. These particular sections will be scored based on the stronger part of the game of the two. For example, if a game has a lousy single player campaign, but an excellent multiplayer component, that section will be based solely on the multiplayer as if the single player did not exist. This allows games to be based on their own merits, as many unnecessary features are shoehorned into video games by publishers to reach a “feature quota”. Games that excel in both areas of a section don’t receive should be noted in the written review, but cannot increase the score past 2 in that section. However, it can be taken into account in the final section

The final section can add 1, add 0, or subtract 1 to the final score. This final section is the “wildcard” section. This section is for how the reviewer “feels” about the game, but limits this only to this section, rather than the entire 10 point review. This section can include any positive or negative point that was not covered in the previous 5 sections.

An endearing title with sunflowers and sunshine, perfect for casual game goers with its charming graphics and simple game play. An extremely fun game, the mini games and the puzzle are some nice features too. But the real winner for me is the music... It's phenomenal, one of the best I've ever found in a game... Ever.

Highly addictive and creative. Offering several different modes and challenges from different angles of a house. The main adventure mode didn't prove to be difficult till the end but the mini games and puzzles add the extra level of difficulty for thrill seekers. Amazing.

This is the only good game in the PVZ franchise, not that I've played all of them but from what I've seen, all the other games look and feel nothing like this gem. Please PopCap, please cancel the pay to win agreement with EA, don't work for them, and re-hire George Fan!

You only have a single lawn mower per lane. There's a large variety of plants to choose from. There are over 50 fruits and veggies to annihilate the trespassing undead. Later on in this game, you'll unlock a garden, a shop, and an almanac. The garden is a place where you'll grow plants. You can sell the plants and get coins and diamonds. The shop is a van where you can buy minigames, plants, and much more. The almanac gives small descriptions about each plant and zombie which'll likely make you chuckle. Perhaps my favorite thing about this game is its personality. There's a load of character in every corner of this magnificent game. The dialogue is humorous and Crazy Dave is simply an amazing character. This game's music is spectacular and will certainly get stuck in your head. In conclusion, Plants Vs Zombies is an awesome tower defense experience that is certainly worth the price. Have a lovely day/night, folks! Expand

It's a fun game, does what it's ment to do, and does it well. It has personality and it has style. I loved the zombie bowling minigame, as well as the the overall art direction. It's definitly worth the $10 on steam, and with the amout of actual content is worth the $20 if you want a boxed copy.

This game was a very big part of my childhood, I remember playing it on my first PC that my grandma gave give me. After quite a few playthroughs (on multiple devices), the PC version is clearly superior. This game definitely made the Tower Defense genre what it is today. I highly recommend it.

The interface is wonderful. You have so much information immediately available to you. Google Maps always has a minimap in the lower left corner, which gives you a good overview of the area. Getting information about people gives you a clear, clear window. Hacking offers a menu with easily recognizable icons, so you always know what your button presses will do.

Plants vs. Zombies is a huge game with a great sense of humor, and while it tends to play itself once a strategy is completed and the field of fire constructed, putting it all together and experimenting with the possibilities stays fun for a long, long time. [Summer 2009]
