The more you play, the better you understand how brilliantly the developers translated a strategic card game to a 3D fighting game. It’s great that this forgotten, absolutely unique Xbox gem now has a chance to reach broader audience. [07/2017, p.63]

The story threatens to be interesting, but is laughably bad, as is the dialogue in the game (such as the lady who constantly talks about being "punished"). I'll give it this, it has a pretty cool version of Moonlight Sonata as part of its soundtrack. At least Phantom Dust dared to try something different, which is more than can be said for most AAA games these days.

Let me address the Destructoid review: It was certainly overly critical. In no world does this game deserve a 2/10. On 4K and better than ever! A classic lives again!
Phantom Dust is one of my all time favorite games. For years I hoped for a sequel. Then, the age of remasters came. When a new Phantom Dust was announced at E3 2014, I ran out and bought an Xbox One. That reboot ended up falling through, but that paved the way for this release!

This is a HUGE improvement over the original. The game holds up incredibly well when brought to 4K. The load times are virtually non-existent now. Failing a mission three times allows you to skip it entirely... No more building an arsenal just to use 1 pointless skill to finish one mission.

Play through the single player at least once, and avoid spoilers! The story is actually quite special. Some of the missions are a slog, but they are skippable now! After that, head online and collect the online skills! They are incredibly unique. Watch out for Will-O-Wisp!

Purchase the $6.99 skill pack to support the developers. None of the microtransactions are necessary. Thank you Microsoft and co!

Not the best port. But a great Free port.
I may be a little biased since I loved this game as a kid on the original xbox.
    But it stays true

But it stays true to the game and the game is a classic.
Glad its a play anywhere option.
Could use voip support or some of the dlc skills for the game... but the later is coming in a patch.
