I actually thought this game was really really good in the past. However after seeing their recent updates and micro-transaction implementation, I can no longer say that this is a game and developer that i'd recommend

Meh, done goofed - Microtransactions and bad DLCs...

The result is a angry mob and greedy devs. Money blended them. Payday 2 was once a great game everyone loved and played and bought, but now after MILLIONS !!! MILLIONS they tell us they have to impliment Microtransactions because they got 50 new people ?! Seriously ?

Since the developers which promised no microtransaction added weapon skins with stat bonus into the game and ignore players' opinion, I don't think I should recommend a game which the developers cared about money more than the game itself or their players. There has been so many examples of a game from developers like that before, and it mostly never goes well.

I can only say that I am incredibly disappointed.

Overkill have failed to deliver features advertised before launch.
    Overkill lied about microtransactions.

They lied, they made alot money grab dlc's and they also disrespect the entire community.

I created an account just to emphasize just how badly Overkill has **** this game up. For context, I have 481 hours in game.

In a single day (the first day of Crimefest 2015), they:
    - demonstrated how they cannot be trusted by introducing microtransactions, that they promised would never become a part of the game
    - also demonstrated this by introducing microtransactions during an event they claimed was 100% free
    - introduced microtransactions (this is its own bullet point) in the form of weapon skins
    - introduced pay-to-win microtransactions by giving stat bonuses to certain weapon skins
    - introduced microtransactions in a $20 game with $120 of DLC
    - completely decimated the weapon balance, giving pistols insane power (even giving the Deagle enough power to one-shot bodyshot kill one of the toughest basic enemies in the game), and neutering shotguns and assault rifles; this is coming from someone who mostly used pistols in the past
    - in doing so, nullified the benefits of some of their own DLCs (the AA-12 is useless)

As of the end of Crimefest, Overkill has stated that none of these will be removed, and essentially declared that the veterans of the game no longer mattered to them, as the 'majority' of the player base (i.e. many new players who joined during Crimefest, while PAYDAY 2 was having a free weekend) were paying for weapon skins.

tl;dr Overkill lies about microtransactions, pay2 win, their own in-game event, their financial status, and basically everything else

This used to be a great game. There were occasional DC, a view of which were necessary for the game to be playable. Now there is a new $5 extension every month, with each weapon stronger and less and less thought out. To truly get into this game takes hundreds of hours and probably close to $80 or so. Just get a better game that has a less **** developer.

"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
Overkill got microtransactions, but at which price ? One big, angry community that still remember how Payday wasn't supposed to become the "Pay2win" it has become.

It was great. The many players co-existing in peace. But then everything changed when the microtransactions attacked. Sucks even more because we were promised no microtransactions. Now the devs are ignoring the community and paying attention to only their own lust for money. If I wanted to have devs screw me over, I would have gone to EA or Ubisoft

Payday 2 used to be an amazing game, until this year. I have nearly 500 hours in this game, and I'm giving it a negative review, why?

Because the company behind the game is an absolute ass to players. They treat us like walking wallets, and it's evident in the way they produce content. Over 70% of the content for this game is paid, and that's not okay. I urge you not to buy this game,

This game used to be one of my favorites in my steam library. About a month ago I would have still vouched for this game. However, the developers have chosen to take the game down a path that they swore they never would. Micro-transactions.

EVEN WORSE, the micro-transactions give you in game stat boosts that you would not have otherwise.

When they announced micro-transactions, the whole community went up in arms. People decided that it would be best to bash Payday 2 on steam reviews and metacritic. I decided to wait. "Maybe", I thought, "Maybe they will announce an apology after this event is done. Maybe they will take back the stat boosts and realize the mistake they had made."

Today, they made an announcement. Micro-transactions to stay. Stat boosts to stay.

What people dont understand was that a big part of this games initial selling point was the fact that they had PROMISED to the community that they would NEVER make the game a pay to win. Yet, they went back on that promise.

Furthermore, during their AMA(ask me anything: an open forum of sorts where fans and users can directly ask the company questions with an almost immediate response) said that they have always cared about their community and actively seek compromise when conflict arises, yet they did not budge one bit on the problems brought up by the community.

So, long story short, I give this game a 0/10 not because the game itself is bad, but they people that run it are. If you are looking to be treated as nothing but a wallet, if you are looking to have your voice muffled and silenced, if you are looking for a game that gets easier when you throw money at it, or you simply just love to be on the bad side of an abusive relationship, then PAY2DAY is the game for you.

If not, I would strongly advise you against this game.

The business practices of Overkill are beyond questionable. First off, you have a game that already costs a chunk of cash, but then add on to that around 30 paid DLC packs.

PayDay 2 is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game. The sequel is better in almost every way - you can play a thief and enjoy good character development and shooting systems. I really hope, that PayDay 3 will be even better.
