Despise I haven't touched endgame yet, I've played for few weeks this game and I managed also to get past through the huge lagspikes that the game had.

First things first, I applaud the developers for making a very deep game: each class, which are very well detailed in stats and mechanics, have their own passives distributed in a way very similar to FFX spheregrid (basically it's one huge grid that every class share, but each class starts from a different position), while skills are instead splitted from the character under the form of orbs that you attach to weapons and armor (same for other types of orbs). Each skill orb also level up on their own (which I think is up to 20) and it's pretty easy to level them since you only have to kill enemies and grind like crazy, without mentioning that it only matters on your stats in order to use them: this means you can potentially equip any kind of skill or armor, all depending on your 3 stats (strength, intelligence, dexterity). However, considering you don't upgrade your stats with points, you'll most likely focus on one set of skill.

Secondly, the game also well implemented into the online, with villages and such as hubs to gather your teammates, and with a strange mechanic of not having gold in order to trade because you use items (orbs mostly) in order to buy or sell items, same thing with other players: I see this is a way of avoiding goldsellers and I'm not entirely sure how this works yet, since I hardly trade with other players.

Lastly the game plays very smoothly controls so good, with also a good amount of challenge in some sections that really pays off: items are as usual are divided in colors for their quality and the areas are big enough for letting you do some exploration (and more grinding).

And all this is in a good F2P game, with basically nothing to upgrade your stats: it's only cosmetics and skins, which is admirable considering almost everything is open and there's almost no limitations to anything as far as I could see.

Which brings me to this point: this game should have been a retail from the start

The cash shop hasn't much to offer and annoyingly you can only play online, despite you'll ONLY see other people on villages, wondering why this isn't retail instead so we could also play offline, especially because of immense lags that still happens whenever I play alone.

Also, for this next part I have to mention Torchlight 2 which is another indie ARPG, and the reason of mentioning is because PoE is considered highly complex and deep, while it's not: the huge grid in PoE is all show considering you'll just want to maximize by going one path, (while TL2 has far more depth with each stats giving different stats all together), without forgetting that each class in PoE, despite having different starts, they'll basically get passive boosters for damage and extra stats for their main stats, which only really determines their armor, some skills they can use and their weapons (which is the same in TL2, except it also grants additional stats such as critical chance, health, armor, weapon damage, magical damage, etc)

It's also true that both games offer various way to play your class by giving them different weapons and using a different path in the grid...but in PoE (IN MY OPINION) feels less rewarding since you basically gain nothing but passive bonuses, and for skills you either buy them or find them during your dungeon runs or quests, and they are many to find which is a nice touch (while for TL2, at each level up you gain 5 stat points and 1 skill points, plus 1 from fame, to use on either your active or passive spells, for a total of 30 unique skills for each class).

My main motive of using TL2 as a comparison is also because people believe this game being the best ARPG ever, but it's not. It's good, yes, and very well made, and has some features that TL2 could have used from this game too (the online is better implemented in PoE), but feels unrewarding at times and less complex than TL2, an indie (retail) ARPG game, almost beating him on every level (almost: TL2 hasn't the same graphics and it's much easier to play).

But to keep it simple, PoE is a great F2P ARPG game, with interesting new ideas that aren't always good and some mechanics that aren't as complex as some other games have done, and I will happily suggest this game to whoever wants a good action rpg game that has well made f2p mechanics, with the only flaws (IN MY OPINION) are the less rewarding mechanics in the level up, massive grindings for both you and your skills, with the latter being completely separated from the class itself, and and a lack on complexity that can be a benefit or not.

Give it a look as it's a great f2p gane, especially if you already downvoted my review, and see for yourself instead: you'll be either immensively satisfied, or terribly disappoi

Amazing graphics, amazing customization, amazing old school diablo. Diablo 3 is a pay to win game. Path of Exile is a game where you can grind to win, and your investment has real gratification in the game.

Path of Exile is an excellent game and I make that statement at 100+ hours played. It isn't without its flaws, so the bad news first:

-I've had a few issues with de-sync, but it isn't so consistent to detract from the game.

-There's also a bit of a learning curve figuring out the skill tree and currency system, but I honestly enjoy that in a game. Though to some this is a big detractor.

-The game is also for all intents and purposes a clone of Diablo. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but a redesign of the health/mana globes and potion belt are long overdue.

-This is a grind for gear game just like all the other titles in the genre, so don't expect it to break the mold in that respect.

    Now for the good news.

+It's completely free. No catch. No advertisements, no pay to win, no trial run. This should be THE model that free games follow. You can show your support for the game by purchasing weapon particle effects, non-combat pets, and alternate spell animations from the website. There's also supporter packs that give you real world goods like hats and shirts.

+The leagues and ladders are an interesting way to keep the game fresh. Joining a league server means you're entering a fresh game economy. Each league also adds different challenges for the player to overcome.

+I also really enjoy the twist on game mechanics. The skill tree, refilling potions, and the use of skill gems are all interesting variations on the style.

+Though story always takes a backseat in this type of game, there is one being told. It's nothing earth shattering, but I've enjoyed the pieces of story put into the game. I also love the voice actors for the game.

The most impressive thing about the game is the skill tree. It's an information design work of art, imho. There are tons of skills to choose from, arranged in a interconnected, weblike series of links. Because of this and a lack of class specific weapon and armor restrictions, you can customize your character anyway you like. You can have a heavily armored-bow wielding ranger, or a robe wearing warrior wielding a huge axe, and a minion-zombie army. It's all up to you.

Give this game a try, it's free to download!!

Genuinely nice, mature, helpful and witty (sometimes too witty *awkward wink*) community as well, which you really don't see often in games these days. POE also rejects the generic ARPG skills system where you either choose as you level or unlocked as you level, instead POE takes a risk and hits a home run with the gems, sockets and link system. Rather than just have your 1 base ability POE lets you link up to 6 gems in a chain, usually 1 active and 5 passive, making your moves even more powerful.
The gear is better too, there are less useless stats that plaque RNG rolls on other ARPGs and making gearing a often a pain. Most of the possible item rolls are relevant to the gear so a player can feasibly play the whole game through lvl 68 with only found gear, this is a big thing for me and other ARPG fans on the first play through.
You can grind if you want to, it's not a necessary part of the game unless you want to play maps because there is sufficient content all the way up to the end game, there are constant races from lvl 1 for X hours, multi-player and PvP. The endgame is a grind fest with potential for insane gear drops if that is more your style.

PvP is not great yet and there are some desync problems but otherwise this is the best and only free-to-play micro-transaction free ARPG. Overall it is much deeper than D3 or Torchlight and community has lasted and will continue to last longer as well.

Offering a well thought out and deep Action RPG at the price point of free, where merely cosmetic changes and increased stash space (from an already generous size) comes at a small cost, this game is hard to miss for an ARPG fan.

It is reminding me more of Diablo 2 than Diablo 3 does, with its gloomy atmosphere that embraces theorycrafting thanks to its depth and skill combinations.

Performance with server desync glitches and subpar framerate have been reported but I have so far not experienced any desyncs and there is a major patch to substantially improve framerates in testing. Having said that, playing in 1080p with a Geforce GTX 970 level graphics card is not a problem at all like usual, so this should not be a huge issue for anything close to modern systems.

    1. Trading. Yeah, you don't have a comfortable auction here that spoils economy and almost killed Diablo 3. There are 3rd party trade websites and macros that makes it easier to sell or buy things. I prefer building my character myself rather than just buying all the needed gear instantly as soon as i can afford it. Back in 90-s and 00-s there were no auction at all and still those hs were awesome. BTW barter system looks more efficient than plain gold, not mentioning that currency in POE is also a crafting material.
    2. Leveling. Yeah it's pretty boring playing same locations 3 times to reach endgame....but most rpgs games works the same way. The replay-ability is supported by new leagues with unique mechanics every 3-4 month and new addon every 6 month. Worth mentioning that leveling is pretty fast.
    3. Desync: Desync isn't an issue anymore. One can find servers all over the world with 50ms ping or even less. GGG also added 2 options to predictavoid desync.
4.Graphics: have you ever seen popular mmorpg with top graphics and millions of people playing it? Maybe just few huge titles. POE is oriented on people having different specs and where it lacks graphics it compensate with art and style. Just watch addon trailers on their website-dark fantasy everywhere. I prefer weaker graphics to a better style. Anyway the graphics isn't that bad. Look at Diablo. Just press escape and look at the character model-it looks like Pinocchio made by blind carpenter. Graphics is something tertiary when we talk about good game. Animation isn't state of art but it far from causing eyesbleed.
    5. Performance: It was a weak spot for quiet a while but not an issue anymore. A bunch of optimizations were made and now the game can run on any calculator.

Story: the manner the story is told reminds me Dark souls. You need to seek for details, read item descriptions, listen to dialogues. Dark fantasy fans are happy about it.
Music is awesome, sounds are decent.

    Roleplaying:
This is a bread and butter of the game. You aren't limited to your class. want to be tanky magician with a shield-here you go. Whant to be brutal barbarian that summons pets-not a problem. Wanna be ranger(that usually starts with bow) that fists everything backhandedly-you are welcome. See the build list of any class on Poe forum. You will find few dozens of different guides, some of which looks impossible but works perfectly.

You can make a build around one item or synergy of items. You can make a build based on a unique flask, unique gloves prefix or a node in your skilltree.

Skill system is smth unique. Some of the negative reviewers said that you use one button to kill everything. Yeah, there are build with press to kill everything on the scree, but most of the builds(and this depends on you) requires single target skill, aoe skill, damage boosting skill or defense boosting skill, save-your- donkey skill, charges generating skills, warcries, utility skill etc.

POE is a hardcore game in many aspects. You can't respec freely at any moment of time. You need to use special currency to refund one skill point. In this case full respec will cost a pretty penny and that makes you think, plan and change things carefully. Free full respecs are given when new big patch arrives.

Ignore the comments such as "everyone uses the same op build" or "same op skills" because it couldn't be further from the truth. Go look for yourself, check out the leaderboards and there is a massive array of skills and builds that people have succesfully used.

The only negative point i have to say is, ingame trade could have been done better, HOWEVER, a website that is now widely used http://poe.xyz.is/ solves the trading spam and is fantastic for finding the items you need. So i guess that could take away half a negative point? :P

I also enjoyed making choices about what weapons I wanted to use based on what skills I wanted to use- sometimes it almost became a puzzle to coordinate my skills, my sockets, and my weapon types so that I could use Cleave even though my weapon was socketed with all green sockets. That was enjoyable.

I played this game with friends all the way through, and I don't see myself getting into the endgame or becoming active in the community or PVP or anything like that- I really enjoyed the PvE aspect and the fact that on a whim I said to my friends "Hey, let's try Path of Exile". Path of Exile is the only game worthy of the title of spiritual successor to Diablo II. The big issue right now, though, is that the game is getting bloated with too many evergreen mechanics. Prophecies, delve, incursion, heists, etc... The list keeps growing. If you take a break from this game and come back, be prepared to get bombarded with completely unfamiliar mechanics even on a normal campaign playthrough.

Other than that, though, I firmly believe this is the only good modern ARPG out there. Path of Exile is the only one to get it right because they followed in the footsteps of Diablo II.

Excellent alternative to the Diablo series, and I'm glad that after many years it's still going strong. Biggest obstacle for most casual players it's the lack of any usual currency, so you have to trade with different items like a colonialist with some tribe members. The skill tree is also problem, but most people just follow blindly some builds or guides so they don't care.

Would have given 10/10 easily a few months ago. Great depth, tons of content, overall committed developer. However more recently the devs have let long term issues like performance, quality of life, and trading build up. They also has a vision to make a game that's very much a hardcore grind and not casual friendly.

Maps have levels from 66 78. Anything worth farming and crafting (crafting is based on gamble too) starting from lvl 71 maps which will be unreachable to most of players since maps drop rate will decrease dramatically (drop rates lowered in background without any note to player) with each subsequent level of maps and will form a very high wall at level 71 maps. To counter that you will need insane amount of currency which can be acquired only through farming or trading. Since most items worth selling or using hidden behind lvl71 maps you will find yourself in process of very unrewarding farming.

POE has "old school" (read outdated) leveling system. You will need to repeat process of leveling for every build you want to make. And since you will fail your fist build for sure, you will have to repeat this process over and over again while you learn this game. Follow the tip: go to the forum, find yourself a build and just follow. This will help to avoid much of frustration when things will not work as you was expecting. If you want boost your personage fast you may use some of game currency shops (link omitted per site policy)

So as result I think Path of Exile is greatest ARPG ever created and its finally being released the 23 of October. If you like playing an ARPG with endless character customization. Endless build diversity endless skill diversity and a passive skill tree that makes me have a nerdgasme then this is for you. This is truly a game made by gamers for gamers.

My main issue with the game is that even though you are only just going through the campaign which is consider by most as a tutorial the game constantly throws new systems at you from previous leagues. I found this to be a bit of distraction while trying to focus on finishing the base game first though its not a big inconvenience since you can just move and ignore them. Main issue with that is if you are new player you are already overwhelmed by all base mechanics and throwing mechanics and content from past few years at you while you are still learning is not the best first player experience. The story is equally compelling, with a rich and intricate lore that draws you in and keeps you invested in the world of Wraeclast. The characters are well-written and memorable, with their own unique motivations and personalities that make you care about their fates. The voice acting is top-notch, with talented actors bringing the characters to life in a way that few games can match.

The gameplay is where Path of Exile truly shines, with a deep and complex skill system that allows for endless customization and experimentation. There are countless ways to build your character, from melee fighters to spellcasters to summoners and everything in between. The loot system is equally rewarding, with a seemingly endless supply of rare and unique items that can completely change the way you play the game.

But what sets Path of Exile apart from other games in the genre is its dedication to its community. The developers are constantly listening to feedback and implementing changes based on player input. They are transparent about their development process, with regular updates and communication that make players feel like they are a part of the process.

In short, Path of Exile is a game that deserves to be played by anyone who loves action RPGs. It's a game that is both deep and accessible, with a level of polish and attention to detail that is truly impressive. If you're looking for a game that will keep you engaged for hundreds of hours, look no further than Path of Exile.

The game is in constant production by an active game developer. While small, they have created a game far superior to their massive opponent, Blizzard. They began production with 10 people, in comparison to the thousands Blizzard had. I have been blown away by how deep this game is.

The skill tree is reminiscent of the Final Fantasy sphere grid. You have skill gems which are altered by support gems, as well as trigger gems. Instead of the ever deflating value of gold found in similar games, Path of Exile uses a barter system with incredible randomization, creating a complex and evolving economy.

Characters are not limited to their said class. You can expand into passives of other characters, making builds seemingly unlimited. The dark and gritty atmosphere is beautifully reminiscent of Diablo 2. I won't give any spoilers, if you were a Diablo 2 addict, this game is for you.

While it is free to play, it is not pay to win. You have the option of buying cosmetic items to make your character look cool. If you're a pack rat, you can also buy more stash tabs.

Don't listen to the reviews upset about end game. While there are great end battles, the developer plans to release new content to expand on the story line every six or so months. However, to keep you busy in the meantime, you find maps you can randomize and play with your friends.

The only thing Path of Exile is lacking from my point of view, is the cinematic videos scene in the Diablo series. While I enjoyed those, you can't expect such production to come from an indie game developer.

I hope you give the game a try. If you enjoy the game, consider purchasing some cosmetic items to support future content for this great game!

There are many things that make PoE great, but the one that stands out the most is build diversity. You can make literally dozens of characters that all have real, functionally different play-styles. If you get bored of one character, there's always another build to try (whether based on Keystone passives, or unique items). Finding combinations of passives, skill gems, support gems, and unique items that work well together is the core strategy aspect of this game. Oh, it's also FREE and (starting October 23) will be available (for FREE) on Steam. The game will continue to receive meaningful updates (skills, uniqes, new playable areas, etc.) *frequently* for the forseeable future (1 year+ guaranteed).

The negative aspects are as other reviewers have mentioned: non-negligible desynchronization issues sometimes causes unpreventable deaths, and issues with item crafting feeling more like gambling than upgrading. The developers have already stated that they do not like the current crafting system, and have hinted that the system will be changed or even overhauled, whereas the desync issue is their biggest headache and may not be entirely fixable based on how their server/client system currently operates. These problems, among a small selection of minor issues, are why I did not give it a 10/10.

Regardless, as a long time ARPG player, I can safely say that PoE has set the bar higher than all who have come before.

The way items drop, how the economy works, and crafting, all make for a wonderfully challenging and time consuming experience. Now that the open beta test has started, it can check anyone who wants. The entertainment program is familiar: choosing a hero (marauder, archer, templar, duelist, shadow or witch) you go to fight with Evil, that is, click on the numerous enemies. When inventory is packed with trophies dropped from them, you have to open a portal to the city where you can sell unnecessary, buy the right one, and also get a quest from characters that are shouting exclamation marks over their heads.
The scheme is familiar, but the Path of Exile is clearly not a simple clone of Diablo: there are enough original ideas in it. Take at least a role-playing system. Characteristics of the hero - strength, intelligence and dexterity, indicators of different types of damage and protection - grow automatically, but with the skills of things are more interesting. Each class has more than a thousand passive skills. Having reached a new level, the player receives a point, which can be acquired skill from a certain group. For example, a duelist starts with skills that increase the speed and effectiveness of attacks with blades, and the witch from those that increase mana regeneration and spell power. And nothing prevents you from moving freely from one group to another, regardless of the specialization of the character. For example, a Templar, being a hybrid class, makes a bet on both strength and intellect. Immediately there will be a dilemma - to pump his elemental spells, moving further in the magical direction, or develop attacks with weapons, and then the ability to own a shield?

It is planned that in the future guilds or groups of players will pay for the creation of their own leagues with special rules of the game
For active skills, there are no developmental branches. You do not even know what abilities are available to the hero, because they depend on the precious stones that you find or receive as a reward - they need to be inserted into the corresponding in color slot on the weapon or armor. To each class stones with thematic abilities drop out more often. A witch, for example, will immediately get a blue gem with fireball. Given that at any time it is allowed to replace one stone with another, you have a huge freedom of choice when and on what ability to bet. By the way, stones also get experience in combat, which increases the power of abilities. The point of preservation is not only cities, but also portals, with which you can quickly navigate between open locations
Trade in the Path of Exile is based on the principle of exchange - instead of gold or another currency, scrolls and artifacts that change the properties of weapons and equipment are used. If you give something valuable, you will immediately get a powerful artifact. Cheap junk can be exchanged at best for part of the artifact. But if you accumulate more trash and fuse everything at once, there is a chance to get something useful. And here you have a choice: regularly get rid of unnecessary things or accumulate them for profitable exchange. This is unusual for the Path of Exile. As in any part of Diablo, you can play in two modes: normal and hardcore, where the death of the character is irreversible. The trick is that the hero who died in hardcore mode does not disappear, but becomes available in the usual mode. Consequently, one can not worry that after the death of the hero, the objects and abilities that have been extracted will disappear without a trace. Many active skills only work with certain types of weapons
To effectively deal with serious and numerous enemies, we recommend joining any party. In every big city there is a message board where you can see the list of available lots and determine the location where they are. The game is implemented and PvP. Some NPCs offer teleportation to special locations, where you can take part in a duel with another player of about the same level (the winner is determined on the basis of several rounds) or team to team. However, while Path of Exile does not bet on battles between players. Another interesting point is that the heroes and most enemies have an energy shield. Before damaging health, it is necessary to eliminate this barrier, and its effectiveness can be increased through special subjects and passive skills. Finally, the game is a curious system of potions. Do not clog inventory with a dozen red and blue bottles. At the start you are given a few bottles of reusable use. When you use them to regenerate health or mana, the amount of potion decreases. But it is restored with every killed enemy. It is possible to squander the reserves only in battle with a really strong opponent. As you pass, there will be more capacious bottles that give all sorts of additional effects

    - Story line (The story line is complex and gives the character motivation for moving place to place)
    - Intuitive design (it is very similar to most of the games in it's genre including the popular Diablo line)
    - Skill tree (There is only one skill tree, each class begins at a different place, and there are many many choices and paths to take)

    Things I'm not content with:
-the trade system (it is not coin based, each item is worth a type of base magic item [ident. scrolls, teleport scrolls etc.] and items are purchased from the vendor in the same sort of barter, it makes it difficult to flat purchase items and limits trade considerably, but this may have been their intent)
-The Grouping System (I feel it is a little clunky but if more players were to use it, it would be manageable, but the player base is not what it could have been)

Path of Exile is the best modern hack n slash I've played. The visuals and sounds are well done and the combat and interface are second to none. Player skill combinations and character builds are as numerous as you can imagine. Which is good, because the maps and enemies present an ever-changing threat, and adaptability is key. This is the game I've been waiting for for ten years.

This is a guideline for how to properly review games. Many reviewers like to get a “feel” for a game, and arbitrarily give a game a score that they believe it deserves. This results in wildly different scores between different reviewers, and vastly different scores between similar games. This guideline addresses these problems and scores games fairly and consistently. This guideline also gives scores that are usually similar to the metacritic score.

The review score is based out of 10 points. There are no “half” or 0.5 increments. It is impossible to have a score above 10 or below 0. The review score will change as the game gets new dlc, drops in price, or if more secrets are found through the game increasing its appeal.

The scoring is split into 6 sections. The first five sections can add a possible 2 points to the final score. The first 5 sections are Single Player/Multi Player, Gameplay, Visuals/Story, Accessibility/Longevity, and Pricing.

Notice that 3 of these sections have two parts. These particular sections will be scored based on the stronger part of the game of the two. For example, if a game has a lousy single player campaign, but an excellent multiplayer component, that section will be based solely on the multiplayer as if the single player did not exist. This allows games to be based on their own merits, as many unnecessary features are shoehorned into video games by publishers to reach a “feature quota”. Games that excel in both areas of a section don’t receive should be noted in the written review, but cannot increase the score past 2 in that section. However, it can be taken into account in the final section

The final section can add 1, add 0, or subtract 1 to the final score. This final section is the “wildcard” section. This section is for how the reviewer “feels” about the game, but limits this only to this section, rather than the entire 10 point review. This section can include any positive or negative point that was not covered in the previous 5 sections.

There are problems with the game for sure, but comparing PoE to any other ARPG out there makes those issues easy to overlook. Put in other terms; If D3 has a 88 meta score, then PoE deserves a flawless 10.

Loved the skill tree; something like 1200 nodes of incremental skill/attribute boosts... obviously designed with the long, long term player in mind. The long term play is what starts detracting in my view, but keep in mind it's FTP so what do you expect. Before I forget, I will state that this game runs like a top. I suffered a few fatalities due to "lag" issues, but I have had those in just about every server-based game I have ever played. Not a real problem for me anyway. Life of a gamer and all that....

I took one character to level 45 and "finished" the game as it stands now. While I had a blast in the 3 weeks or so I played it, I found that sifting through the literally thousands of pieces of gear that would drop in a night's gaming got to be slightly tedious. Also tedious to me is the prospect of going through the gameworld again, albeit at a harder difficulty. I've seen the 3 act gameworld, found it uninspired if really nicely rendered, and it holds no more charm for me somehow.

The characters on the other hand I found to be a little more imaginative, eclectic if goofy in spots, but altogether decent and interesting.. The mobs were well thought out, nicely rendered for the most part, and even beautiful art in a few cases. In my case, it gets kinda stale after slaying 1,000 identical mobs in 5 minutes, most of whom will drop some utterly useless gear. I had to laugh when I found a piece of armor that actually increased the amount of loot by 11 percent. I distinctly remember thinking to myself
"My God, who in blazes would actually want to look through more of this stuff?"

Maybe I'm looking for something a little more cerebral in a game..... I'll shorten this up a bit by saying that POE is a very well made ARPG with enough fresh ideas to keep you interested for a while. It IS a slasher, AND a grinder make no mistake, if you're looking for a classic story or real rpg elements you'll find hints of them here but not much more. This game is about combat, levelling, and wanting to invest the endless hours into multiple builds of your character. In the area of build customization, I will state that it has the most advanced skill tree that I have ever seen. The amount of work that went into this facet alone must be staggering. This would be better suited to you if you are into hardcore gear swapping, trying out builds and kits, and grinding... I had good fun on the first play through, but can't seem to get interested in another go, regardless of the fact that GGG has innovated again in their of randomization of map orientation so that at least you get a different physical perspective on the 3/4 iso field whenever you replay a map.

Final thoughts: Great innovation in a few areas, lots of fun, EXCELLENT coding, I feel that if GGG can expand the best ideas in this game the sky is the limit. As it stands, this level of quality in a ftp game is almost unheard of. If it were a standalone retail game the first 40 hours of gameplay would get a 70 something from me, because I just don't get into the hack n' slash that much, but seeing as how it's free and I had a really good time for a couple weeks I'm going into the upper 80's.

The lasting impression I get is that GGG has enormous potential and some serious game creation juice to pull this off. I will be listening hard for news of their next venture, if only because my personal taste is not along the lines of staying with POE. They currently have "it". These guys could make a Baldur's gate for the next generation, and coming from me that's saying a lot. There are improvements that could be made, but there is some really good stuff here.

I still sees the ghostly pirates when i closes me eyes...... yaaaaargh....

Personnellement, j'y ai joué des centaines d'heures (vraiment !) malgré le fait que je n'ai pas encore tout compris :-)
Et il est gratuit : les microtransactions n'apportent que des effets cosmétiques !

Ultimate successor of Diablo 2, PoE has unlimited replay value with new challenge leagues every several months (a.k.a. ladders), competitive speedrun events and constant flow of updates and new content.

Pros: + Huge amount of distinct content: 10 Acts instead of usual "4 acts with 3 difficulties" structure + Complex itemization, crafting and skill systems + Challenge leagues allow

Amazing free to play action role-playing game that easily beats its main competitor Diablo 3 and is more of a successor to the amazing Diablo 2 than Diablo 3 is.
Game has huge amounts of content with focus on endgame, which is where the game really shines.
Player has endless amounts of possibilities of how to build and play his character and the game is simply heaven for theorycrafters.

The developers release major content updates every ~3 months and those updates are usually really significant and give a new spin to the game so its fun to revisit and create a new character even for seasoned players.

Only cons I would point out is bad trading system (although it improved abit in the recent years with the presence of poe.trade).

In terms of design, the game is not a 10. However, the game deserves a 10. This is the best arpg experience you will get that is truly free. It even surpasses any other paid arpg I have played before. Playing through all the difficulties, even if it's just once is a totally fun experience. Play this gem.

It is free and it is more fun than Diablo III. What more is there actually to say?
Classes seem to fell quite similar, sure... So I don't have to play them all as I usually do. Might be counted as an upside ;)

A racing game with magic and melee toons. Great attention to detail and constant meaningful updates makes this one fun to play. With the Awakening (2015 / act 4) u still need a very active group to get to lv100, but it has gotten ALOT easier to get to lv 90 now for singleplayer. Alot of unfair and mean insta pops have been removed from maps, instead the last act is pretty tough now.A racing game with magic and melee toons. There are lots of guides if u need help, or watch people play on twitch if u want. Are u 0 points dudes the ones that were caught cheating in races with maphacks ? Well done ggg.... This game was such a gem to find. Medieval RPGs are my absolute favorite, and while this one offers multiplayer online MMO options, it's really great for solo play. Beautiful scenery, good story, and amazingly giant skill tree.

This game is a hack and slash adventure similar to Diablo. But it's what Diablo could and should have been! It's got better skills, more adaptable gear, and much better economy and currency

The skill tree is amazing, the currency doubling as usable items to customize gear is brilliant, the artwork and voice acting is fantastic, and the micro transactions are reasonable and optional.

The level of strategic depth is great.

And the end game is much better. Other games have adapted and copied PoE as a result.

Seriously, check this game out. Can't beat the price. And it's excellent.

Hack & slash games are addictive because they follow a simple formula: kill, kill and kill some more. Path of Exile is no different in this regard. During your quest in the perilous continent of Wraeclast you need to slay thousands and thousands of monsters but it never gets boring because there are a plenty of fresh ideas like the very vast skill system and barter-based economy that differentiate it from other similar games. But it's not a perfect game. The story is weak and the difficulty level is too low in the beginning. [Dec 2013]

An exceptionally generous free-to-play action-rPG. What it lacks in punch it makes up for in depth and value for money.
