    This PS1 era antique was restored quite neatly. It was rebuilt almost from scratch (technical issues plaguing the prior Switch edition were eliminated), the gameplay is enjoyable and doesn’t get boring, but mainly because there’s no additional content here and the credits roll out after an hour or so. Basically, Panzer Dragoon’s remake is a short, sentimental journey for the most nostalgic fans. [12/2020, p.63]

    A perfectly serviceable remaster, Panzer Dragoon: Remake still feels like a missed opportunity to reinvigorate a franchise that deserves it. Would love to see what MegaPixel Studio could do with one of the sequels and a little more creative freedom, but this feels a little too difficult to recommend at the price.

With "just"a 1050ti 4gb I can order much dbl the render scale At 1080p and still only see a few fleeting drops. Panzer Dragoon: Remake является некой дозой среди огромных, крупных проектов, простая, без лишних копаний в глубоких смыслах скролл-шутеры с дракунам и драконами, а так же живописным разрушенным миром

    _жанр мною совершенно не познан, за всю жизнь было два проекта включая этот. На этом вряд ли мой интерес остановится нужно пробовать ещё, благо ПК библиотека данного типа полна другими играми похожего характера

    There isn't much of a story here, other than you play a man in an obscure fantasy world who rides a dragon. He's sole motivation, to seek out and destroy another man and his dragon. Not much else. The cut-scenes sure show their age, even with the improved graphics. However, the in-game visuals make for a much smoother and vibrant experience than the original.

    For the game-play, it is a rail shooter, so that's pretty much it. Lock onto enemy and shoot shoot shoot. However, what set this one apart from others at the time was the ability to target the 360 degree environment. Meaning you always have to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

    Very much a product of its time, there isn't much here unless you were a massive fan of the original. If you are a fan though, it's a nice revisit due to the re-vamped graphics. Regardless, $35.95AUD at the time of writing is too much for such a short game. If you're keen, get it on sale. (Played on GOG).    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played the pc version remake of panzer dragoon on normal difficulty. The game does a very poor job of teaching the player how to control the game. For the first level, there were fire rocks hurled at me from behind and there was no way to hit them. Then i realized im missing something. I took a look at the control menus and saw that you have to pan the camera around by pressing an actual button. For the eniter first level, i thought i was stuck looking at the front of my dragon instead of 360 degrees. I also had no clue about the lock-on missile technique which is a HUGE part of the game until I looked at the controls in the menu. I didn’t even notice the radar at the top right until a few levels in which helped a lot after i used it to see enemies.

    The sounds of this game is very generic and boring. The exception is the end game credits have an interestingly cool sounding synth-rock music. Everytime your dragon gets hurt, it sounds like one of those generic bald eagle sounds you always hear in movies and games. The same battle theme music plays on a loop in every single level.

    The gameplay graphics are decent. Being a remake, you can see the upclose scaly skin of the dragons. The mechs and the lazers that shoot out of them look decent. I did like the different landscape of the levels from desert to forest to city to caves.

    One thing I hated is how when you finish a level with very low health, the next level you only are given half of your life back. There is no way to replenish your life besides dying, using one of your credits. Oh yeah, this game calls your lives credits for some reason.

    But I did like the game rewards you with lives the more guys you shoot down. With over 90% of things dead, you get 2 extra lives and with over 80% of things dead, you get an extra life.

    The biggest downfall of this game is how simple it is. Basically Shoot stuff down with your homing missles and dodge the things coming at you. Pan around the camera using you radar to see the enemies on your sides and behind. The levels are very short and the game only lasts 2-3 hours.

    The boss battles are by far the best part of the game. They have a ton of HP compared to normal enemies, they have interesting shapes, and they shoot you from around your dragon where you have to dodge missiles and lazers. Some of them are fast or have a little weak spot so you have to be careful. The boss battles were OK but not hard at all on normal difficulty.

    The story is very forgettable and too vague. You are raiding a desert with friends and suddenly you are attacked by a giant monster that suddenly dies from rocks. An alien with a dragon comes to you and dies and asks you to take over his dragon to shoot down a purple dragon. It’s trying to get to a temple. As you are chasing this another dragon, an army of aliens are trying to kill you with their mechs and air ships. You leave your friends behind in the desert because reasons.

    I don’t think i’ll ever play this game again. There’s not enough incentive to replay it because the gameplay is too simple to be interesting after you know the ending. And there’s nothing really to unlock besides getting a better accuracy score at the end of the level oif you care about that kind of stuff.

    Overall I give this game 6/10.

    SPOILERS:

    The last boss was disappointingly extremely easy because his missiles and lasers were very slow and super easy to dodge. The only annoying thing is how much HP he had. Way too much HP making the battle longer than it should be. Given how most japanese made games have multiple boss forms, i thought he had a second harder form but nope, he dies! I wish the final boss was designed to be more of an interesting final battle.

    Then at the end of the game your character goes into the temple and your dragon makes it explode somehow. Your character somehow forms a shield around himself lies down on an island, safe from the explosion. The end. Not a single word was spoken or written. Way too vague of a storyline. Like what was the enemy dragon trying to do when it got into the temple. How did your human character gain magical powers to save himself from the explosion? Who are the enemies and that are trying to stop you? The game does not answer most of these important questions.

    The end of the game you are given a bunch of cheats like infinite lives, level select, and auto rapid shoot. It still wasn’t interesting enough for me to play the game from the beginning again.    … Expand
