    Outriders is a fast rpg looter shooter. The game is not easy, you will die many times but it is a lot of fun. There are some minor issues with server connection because of a big interest but it will definitely improve in the coming days. However, this does not change that the game is great and can give many hours of fun.

    but: servers are NOT the game. judging a game only by its server issues is severely unfair - as these problems will be solved in foreseeable future. even with those problems solved - the mediocre to extremely bad reviews remain visible to just about anybody. imagine this: you login to the game in a week from now and realize it´s actually pretty awesome. punishing the devs for their infrastructure is in no relation to the effort behind such a game - art direction, storytelling, coding, ...

    so lets put things into perspective again:
    the servers suck right now.
    but:
    the game has good writing, an interesting story, some hilariously well done cut scenes that entertained me a lot. i identify with my own character, which is pretty seldom given the fact, that i play a shooter. the gunplay is pretty solid, lots of weapon feedback - and the RPG level ads an interesting and highly individual element to my playing style. the idea that you only heal, when you kill is awesome. great amount of chaos - in a positive way. and: the voice acting is awesome - but thats a quite subjective view, as i´ve seen reading other reviews.

    the reason i give it a clear 10 is, though, to compensate all the zeros given by people who are simply angry because of first day server problems. they don´t evaluate the game. the game deserves an 8 or 9.    … Expand

    9 corridors out of 10. Normal igruha, the atmosphere of the plot and the design of the corridors at a height. Everything works for me without lags and stable FPS.

    It's such a good game, one of the best shooters ever, weapons are cool and alot of variety, gameplay is fast and exciting, enemies are diverse and it has beautifull graphics, sound and music!.Characters do have character and i like it. Story wise i don't know but the basic idea is cool. Should be the best game of this year. I'm playing in single player mode and that's just the thing iIt's such a good game, one of the best shooters ever, weapons are cool and alot of variety, gameplay is fast and exciting, enemies are diverse and it has beautifull graphics, sound and music!.Characters do have character and i like it.     Masterpiece, 10/10. True that servers was an issue first 2-3 days, but NO reason to downvote a game for that. Last 2 days had no problems at all.
    Graphics runs very smooth, 1440P with dlss quality, all maxed (10900K+3080)

    Best game out there today, buy it!!!

    This is a creative masterpiece. It plays like a hard core "B" science fiction movie, drawn out by large battles in which the players characters fight with special abilities. It DOES have some aggravating bugs, still (as of October 2021), and I get that folks are pushing HARD for release day perfection, but there is plenty to see as far as what the devs are trying to do, and it isThis is a creative masterpiece. Uber violent "B movie" science fiction with super powers? Sign her up! Happy wife, happy life as they say.… Expand

    i understand the low ratings. They are angry for the servers issues. But! The game is really nice done. The gameplay is fast and addctive.The story is dark and really original. this game deserves much more positive attention.

    My favorite game of all time. Don't listen to review bombers, solid mix of RPG/FPS/ARPG. 30 hour campaign and extremely fun endgame.

    game is fantastic - nasty mix of gears of war and the division. combat a+ and nasty, challenging - 16 levels - possibly most challenging game made. play solo for now...

    I genuinely enjoyed this game. Do note that MANY of the negative reviews are from the issues of the game at launch, many of which were resolved a month or two afterwards. The campaign is short (~ 20 hours), but you have the ability to completely play through again with a different class and an entirely different play style. The end game is finite, and it's mostly about min-maxing yourI genuinely enjoyed this game.     El juego es una pasada. Super divertido, y difícil, las mecánicas de combate están super bien, los gráficos son la ostia también.
    Creo que hubo problemas con los servidores el primer día, por eso tiene tantos votos negativos, pero a mi no me ha dado ningún problema.

    After updating all drivers I have no problems with the game. Fun and quick gameplay, diverse classes and interesting lore. Playing demo give me a chance to check this game - a full product has everything I wanted and more.

    Im loving every second,Its been a long time since Ive played a game thats kept me playing for hours on end,massive amounts of loot,huge variety of enemies and landscapes,tons of customization and so many crazy monsters to kill,I love this game. The weapons feel heavy and pack so much punch and the powers are crazy.     Graphics: here, in general, everything is at the highest level and this is on the Anreal engine. The design of levels, locations, nature, desert, buildings, caves, everything that surrounds the player immerses him in unprecedented beauty. We paid great attention to detail in everything absolutely.

    Sound: dubbing is beyond praise, unfortunately, but I will say that I liked dubbing more than in Cyberpunk. Background sound always spurs you on to action. Music prepares you for battle and lets you know when you can take a break.

    Gameplay: It's the icing on the cake! the game entertains in such a way that you can simply forget and play so that you do not notice how much time is spent in the game. it’s simply impossible to get bored in the game, so much action has been delivered that it’s hard to believe that it’s possible to think through everything and at the same time, there is no feeling of fatigue from shooting or what is happening, everything is in moderation.

    Verdict: an excellent looter shooter with an interesting plot, shooting, and a fantastic world. We are waiting for the continuation .......

    I am having an absolute blast playing this game. Sure it has its flaws, but when you can get into the servers it is something else. The Division and Destiny never really vibed well with me so I was hesitant going in, but I've been hooked from the start. I started as Devastator which is basically about facerolling and getting on them. Then, I switched over to the exact opposite, aI am having an absolute blast playing this game.     There’s been a rocky launch with server issues and disconnects. Though I personally haven’t experienced any on PS5. This is to be expected with any always-online game.     Personally I am quite satisfied with the game itself. It's overall look - regarding graphics and map design - is pretty beautiful and enjoyable. Futhermore you also have a wide variety of skills to choose, and of course the four main character types. Based around what I have seen and experienced in the last 5 to 6 hours, I am yet overall pretty satisfied with the skill and attribute system. Weapons can be customized too, not too much but enough, and you can of course also customize your character and/or your truck. During the first 5 to 6 hours in the released game I experienced not many bugs, but I was a victim of horrible network issues which were obviously primarily happening when many players would come online. These issues were particially fixed, yet they dont seem to be fully gone. Other problems, such as gamebreaking bugs or glitches, were not to be seen.

    All in all I would call it a decent game, which should be fun to play. Especially players which are preferring loot shooters will enjoy this game. In point of graphics the game is also decent, and it is definitely playable in its current state.    … Expand

    Only 5 hours in, but I’m hooked. Awesome gameplay and combat mechanics, story is actually not too bad, loot system so far feels balanced, character classes and skill trees are awesome. Looking forward to the end game and playing with my mate. I’ve had no server or technical issues here in Aus.

    I went into this game with no expectations. A new game a breathe of fresh air and one I am really enjoying. Sever issues are pretty standard with any day 1 launch. Apart from that I am having a blast. Surprisingly love the story, the scooting, and fighting mechanics are awesome! Still have a ways to go and I am thrilled to get started on that gameplay soon!

    This is the companies first major game release, so i personally think they're doing great, major companies like blizzard struggle with their game launches after years of stress testing. The gameplay is fun and fresh and the difficulty of progressing world tiers keeps it hard and fun.

    Everyone who is giving this game a zero or a very low score is an utter moron. Just because they had server issues does not mean the game is bad. Forget these idiots and get the game. It's one of the best games I've ever played, with a really well polished concept that is addicting to play. The gunplay, mod perks, and weapon/armor designs are all great. The skill tree is highly adaptable, and what I love most about it is having the ability to dip into other "subclass" perks and do a mismatching of sorts to cater to your playstyle. The abilities you can choose from for each class are also really good and all affect your playstyle as well. Add to the fact that you can swap out mods on armor and weapons, and you essentially have a plethora of potential combinations to try out for different builds. The game is extremely solid. Sure, there are server issues and problems with crossplatform connectivity; but ultimately the actual gameplay itself is everything you could want in a looter shooter. 10/10 would recommend to a friend and your mother.… Expand

    Yes the servers had some issues the past couple days. The devs have been very responsive compared to most others in informing us they are aware and fixing the issues. The game is very fun and exciting I would recommend playing with friend if possible

First of all I’ll give a tip, disable cross play because it’s in beta mode. I found that tip online because I was having the same trouble and connection errors stopped all at once.
    The second tip I’ll give is to lower your graphics settings. That’s on the user not fully on the developers. The game will try to run at maximum settings just like it did on my scenario, but it will crash even providing smooth gameplay up to that point. You have to lower your settings and it will stop.

    That being said, this game has a wonderful story which I am absolutely entrenched in. The characters are absolutely memorable and the story alone is an adventure worth following. It has a lot of generic ideas from past games of this genre, but where it stands out most is the fact that it’s like playing gears of war, Tom Clancy‘s division, and a bit of borderlands all in one. It’s a bit linear on the story side, but it does give you room to play around and go where you want within those linear stages. You can replay missions in side quests to level up your gear, and when doing so every character you meet along the way upon starting a side quest is an integral part of the story that you learn just that much more of. There’s a lot of reading which if you take the time to do, it certainly adds big pieces of the puzzle of what’s going on around you in the game.

    So once again I just want to reiterate that this game is not a 5.5 game! And I say that not because I feel like my opinion is better than others, but rather I see it purely for what the game is over the keyboard smashing angry people for not realizing how a PC works when trying to game on this particular platform. It’s not a console. You have to adjust your settings to make a game run smoothly according to your hardware and apparently a lot of people don’t know how to do that.

    After my playthrough (100%, all side quests), I would say the game is worth the $60. It's endgame content gives countless hours after the main story has finished, which is a big plus. Overall the gunplay:ability ratio is pretty consistent, you'll use your guns as much as your abilities if you're not going for a weapon/ability specific build. The game is really rewarding, as most high-levelAfter my playthrough (100%, all side quests), I would say the game is worth the $60. It's endgame content gives countless hours after the main story has finished, which is a big plus. Overall the gunplay:ability ratio is pretty consistent, you'll use your guns as much as your abilities if you're not going for a weapon/ability specific build. The game is really rewarding, as most high-level enemies on higher World Tiers drop epic+ weaponry/armor rather constantly. Overall the only thing I am uncertain about are the post-release content drops, as I can't imagine the game ends off here.     Dont listen to half the bad reviews havnt encountered a single bug and the game is ridicoulsy fun its like gears of war borderlands 3 and destiny had a baby 10/10 would reccomend and the boss fights are sick.

    The shooting is great, campaign is long, tons of interesting side quests and a crafting/mod system that can keep you busy for many hours coming up with interesting builds. A few quality of life patches and this game could be nearly perfect.

    Fun gameplay. At first I thought that it is as boring as division 2 but it is very fun indeed. You don't need to hide behind covers, actually you just can't hid for move than a sec. You got to move, shoot, heal yourself, etc etc. Very good.

    Cons: it had launch issues... server dc and so on.

    If Destiny 2 and The Division 2 had a child it would be Outriders, and with touch of Doom Eternal to the pace of the combat, you have the best tps of the moment, and a great game overall! Good graphics, excelent performance, the only downside is the lack of gaas elements and mechanics, the game screams gaas on your face all the time but never deliver the full experience as it should be!

    I'm having a blast with this game on Xbox Series X, mostly solo. The abilities combined with satisfying combat feels amazing, and the difficulty is just the right amount of challenging.     Overall the Enviroment isn't too bad on Enoch and there are different zones like Snow, Desert ect.
    The level Design is quite a bit obvious but doesn't make the experience bad in any way.

    If you are looking for something to play with a friends or partner, this is the best choice. We liked it a lot more than the Borderlands (which we like very much too).
    It's a pity that poor optimization on release spoiled the game's average score.

    Incredible game so far! I have maybe 6 hours into the game, and there is still so much for me to learn and explore. I feel like in terms of the loot system, I have barely scratched the surface.     Yes, the servers have had some issues, and there are some performance issues with stuttering on PC, BUT this is not a Cyberpunk level issue in terms of bugs, and there is no lack-of-content issue like in Anthem. This is the real deal in terms of gameplay and content, we just have to be patient and hope that Square Enix, NOT the developers, can fix the servers soon.    … Expand

    This is a very good game. Yes there are bugs and server issues but there is so much to like about it. Good story with very good voice acting, great skills modification possibilities, very nice weapon progression system, good fight dynamics, interesting lore (if you want to read a lot). I am surprised that I like it that much. Maybe not a title for hard core looter shooter fans but clicks for me.

That being said, even over the course of the three days after release, they were figuring things out and I haven't had issues since.     Pros
    1. Crafting system allows you to swap mods on gear, level up gear, increase its rarity, increase specific traits, and even swap fire modes on weapons. Seriously awesome customization for weapons and armor.
    2. The mods add tons of gameplay diversity.
    3. Each class is very unique with eight abilities that stand out dramatically from each other. Reflecting bullets, putting magma clips into guns, slowing down enemies... soooo much cool stuff.
    4. Loot system is right there with the best of them in design and offers more than I've ever seen before. 46 Legendary guns and I think 96 pieces of armor... at least... maybe some game out there has launched with more, but this would certainly be close.
    5. World Tier adds a very intuitive difficulty option. Can be scaled up or down any time to increase/decrease difficulty and therefore loot drop odds.
    5. Tons of end game gear (legendary weapons/armor) as mentioned before. Weapons aesthetic is very fun and well animated. Armor is decent but not quite as good as weapons.
    6. End game is very hard, but perfectly doable if you've put time into developing build synergy.
    7. Enemy diversity is pretty good (not the greatest, but good enough). Most of the diversity will come from the player end honestly, and that's fine. The enemies are very well balanced.

    Cons
    1. Weapon audio is meh (though I don't have every legendary, so we will see)

    Overall the real attraction is the build crafting, so if that's something you enjoy, this game offers countless hours of fun. If you're a fan of looter shooters and making your own custom build for a character, I can't recommend this game enough.    … Expand

    I love outriders, but there are definitely some things that stop me from loving it as much as I could.
    This is a 3rd person cover based shoote that can be played both solo and online with up to 3 players.
    I stuck to this games campaign solo and it took me about 14 hours to get through.. The game starts with you creating your own charcter, and the story here.. well it might as well not even exist.. I couldn’t tell you anything, I couldn’t even tell you how the game ends if I wanted to, basically a storm happens, youre frozen, youre unfrozen 20 years late futurama style, and you come out and wanna shoot stuff.
    The gameplay here is super fun and addictive.. most of the time.. thing gears of war meets mass effect meets the division.. obviously outriders feels nowhere near as polished and detailed as those games.. but for a first attempt in a series, this is a really good one… Something unique here that has promise but major issues is the tier system.. instead of choosing a difficulty, the game gets harder as you progress, everyone starts at story difficuolty, then you unlock easy, normal, hard, expert, and so on… however once you get to a tier you find too challenging aka too annoying youre free to drop back to any previously unlocked tier that youd like… and this is what I did on m way to tier 6, I dropped back to normal.. and why you might ask? I loved the challenge tier 5 was giving me.. however outriders is desined as a games of service game and for that reason, the checkpoints throughout the campaign are awful.. ontop of that there are insane random difficulty spikes… youll go from having an nice challenge to waves of enemies that have you wanting to bang your head against the wall, oyull get so close to the end, or completete the first wave and lose to some scrub and have to start all the way back at the beginning of wave 1 instead of the wave your died on.. enough to again make you want to drop down to normal difficulty.. however… even in normal these random spikes occur, theres even one enemy called the shaman warlord that is so unbalanced and overpowered that I had to drop down to story difficulty…
    Im sure I could have eventually beat them on normal, but story took 3 minutes, normal would’ve taken like an hour. It just wasn’t worth the effort,,, balancing in general I outriders biggest problem.. from random enemies feeling overpowered to random difficulty spikes and awful checkpoint system… so the gameplay can go from great to frustrating, the story is trash, why is outriders so good?
    Well that comes in the form of its looter hook… at the beginning of the game you choose one of 3 classes, and its so addictive to find weapons through this game and try to tailor them to your specific playstyle.. overcome these sometimes annoying challenges with a feeling god like power… as as you level up, youll choose 3 abilities to have at yoru disposal during combat… there is post game content though.. and plenty… the story mode is essentially you getting your character ready for the online bits.. even though of course you can play through the story with friends… but after the game is where leveling up your tier really starts to matter, this is where youll be challenging yourself to unlock new areas and collect all of these fallen pods…I however personally found the actual world of outriders to be pretty lack luster and uninteresting.. so naturally I have no interest in going off and grinding.. though I do believe the mechanics are fun enough here for plenty who would based on that alone…
    Outriders again has potential as a series.. would I play outriders 2? Yes…
    s again I loved the gameplay hook and Id love a sequal that balances everything out better.
    Am I clamoring for outriders 2? No.
    Again the story and world are lacking, and im not quite sure how the team over at people can fly can fix it.

    Pros:

    + no BS. you really get what you pay for. Standalone, contained experience with no MTX, lootboxes, GAAS bloated skeleton of a game. This is fully executed product for 30-50 hours of gameplay you've paid for.
    + builds, synergies, minmaxing, power fantasy. The general jist of looter shooters
    + if Destiny 2 and Warframe had a violent threesome with Borderlands 3 while Division 2 was filming the whole thing and Deep Rock Galactic was peeping through the window - this is Outriders
    + full support of devs. I just can't imagine frustration that they have due to Square Enix's faulty online infrastructure
    + shooting feeling. Vital in game where you spend 90% of your time spewing bullets
    + performance. You can see that PCF put a lot of time into thinking this one through and optimizing the gorgeous Unreal engine 4 to make it work like a charm. Fast loadings (albeit frequent), no major bugs, visual clarity, sporadic audio cut-offs when there are 20938 sound channels overlapping,
    + a bit less obvious yet important thing - no grave imbalance between the classes.

    Cons:

    - servers, but frankly, for 50 hours straight I would say I had relatively unhindered experience.
    - enemies variety. This is a bit of lackluster, yet it might be fatigue due to long time already put into it.
    - frankly, I don't see much of the solo endgame at the moment. Eye of the storm and level 50 is my go to and then probably another character, however game would really benefit from like set items, more build defining uniques...
    - missing pvp which would be fun if PCF would change it's stance on GAAS and balance such mode properly

    Final thoughts. If you are in the market for looter shooter for foreseeable 50-100+ hours and got your index finger bored with Destiny & co., the Outriders might just scratch that itch. It is truly enjoyable game, occassionally (frequency might vary) hampered by repetitive encounters and server issues (which I'm certain it will be ironed out very soon).

    Ideas and concepts for future:
    * transmogrification is a must and despite game not having players' hub (since it's not GAAS) where you can flash out your sparkling new WMDs and robes, it would be nice to have outfit that you fully like rather than orange sneakers with predator skull helmet, tight spandex pants with a wet rag on your back.
    * Hunts, assassinations with more modifiers. Instances with affixed giving you bonuses, akin Borderlands 3 system. Increasing game longevity.
    * Environment interaction. Doubtly this can be implemented but as PCF worked wonders with environmental kills in BulletStorm, I thought we might have some of that in Outriders.

Outriders is a fun time for me, and the combat is exciting and at times visceral. I came into this game with no expectations whatsoever, and I decided to give an unbiased attempt. This game comes from the developers of Painkiller, Bulletstorm, and Gears of War - so you know combat will be intense at times. Outriders is compared to Destiny quite a lot, and while I can see some of that core gameplay here Outriders does its own thing. The setting and aesthetic of the game reminds me of Mad Max meets Rage, with some Bulletstorm thrown in for good measure. I really like it.

    The enemy A.I. is engaging, and I was happy to see that enemies will advance on my position, rush me at times, and even come up on my flank. It kept me on my toes, and made sure that I had situational awareness at all times. A.I. like this will keep me from getting bored. Cover is very important in this game, and I'm guessing this is where the developer's GoW influences get injected into Outriders. Cover is great, and I honestly wish more developers would make it part of their gameplay as well; It's what I loved about The Division and Gears of War. It makes your combat choices smart, and allows for a more tactical approach to combat IMO.

    I also liked that the game allows me to set my difficulty setting. The game is setup around World Tiers, and as you level-up and collect gear - you can set your gameplay challenge accordingly. I also liked that the developers chose to reward players at higher difficulties with better loot drops. It definitely gives that risk versus reward scenario.

    Co-operative play was good for me. The queue seems to take some time to assemble a party of similarly leveled players, but wait times for me were under 60-seconds overall. I would only lose connection when the party leader would disconnect from the game, which seems like the system is working as intended/designed. The only downside to co-operative seems to be in hoping that everyone in the party is doing the same quests or missions as you.

    Overall my first impression with Outriders is very positive. The game offers a lot for me to enjoy, and while I've tried this game during a FREE PLAY event, I'm glad that I had a chance to give this game a go. I think its something that I would like to sink my teeth into.

    For any of you that happen to read my review, just know that I'm a casual gamer. I mention this because my gameplay experience with this title probably won't be me in the end game; I may never get there honestly. So my time will be spent leveling up my character, and seeing what that offers along the way. I've read many of the other reviews here on Steam, and while I haven't experienced any game-breaking bugs or problems, I've seen very minor glitches. Thankfully, it seems that the developer, People Can Fly (PCF), actively updates and patches this title. As for the gamers experiencing server disconnects and log-on problems, that hasn't been my experience at all; Connection to the game has been steady with no interruptions at all. YMMV.

    Overall, I like what Outriders is offering here. The game absolutely feels like Destiny in a lot of ways, but Outriders has its own style and flourishes.

They did on purpose, I think, which makes the missions feel meaningless. They are Only a point to get XP and reach endgame. Only other gripe I have is that the cover system is so Well Made... yet almost Completely useless. I am currently farming level 46 items and taking cover just feels like a time waster unless I am reloading.

    The weapons are numerous with multiple styles, there are tons and tons of mods to gather and expirement with and as i said earlier, the game is just Fun. It will get repetative after a while so I hope some more content is on its way.

    I am hopeful for the future of this game, it can be great. But the poor launch really stunted any splash this game otherwise would have made. But with the few issues I have with the game, ontop of constant crashes and gameplay interuptions... I really wish I could give this a higher rating. I hope we get to see DLC like making our own cult or collecting meta resources to upgrade our camp or some kind of illusion that what we do Matters in the game. But it all just feels...... shooty shoot looty loot and shooty shoot some more.    … Expand

    The game itself is really good, it's one of the best looter games to have come out recently and has a very addictive gameplay loop. Powers feel good to use shooting is okay, could be better, and the healing mechanics make for a unique experience that is truly fun to play.     Outriders is quite simply one of the most satisfying shooters in the loot genre ever created. Don't listen to the negative feedback, although the complaints of bugs and launch server issues are warranted, the overall negativety due to these issues are absolutely wrong. This game turns you into a God. The dialog and voice acting are a bit on the cheese side but it reminds me of their previous title, Bulletstorm. Mods fundamentally change the way your class works and the way you play providing a payer of depth that I was pleasantly surprised. This is not the Division this is not Destiny. It doesn't play like either of these titles or like Squares most recent release, Avengers. Absolutely do not sleep on this title. Also ignore PCGAMER this person clearly doesn't understand how to play the game. This game by the end shows there is so much more that we can get from this hopefully long living franchise, and I hope PCF does release more content or a future release… Expand

    Outriders can be incredibly fun and satisfying thanks to its build variety. It'd be even better if other elements like story and end game were more rounded out. Unfortunately, some uneven progression mechanics keep it from being truly great.

    The good: -Refreshing fast-paced gameplay - this is a first/third person, action RPG based on shooting guns as opposed to swinging swords or    Outriders can be incredibly fun and satisfying thanks to its build variety. It'd be even better if other elements like story and end game were more rounded out. Unfortunately, some uneven progression mechanics keep it from being truly great.

    The good:
    -Refreshing fast-paced gameplay - this is a first/third person, action RPG based on shooting guns as opposed to swinging swords or shooting bows.
    -Depth in RPG elements - variety in abilities, gear mods, and skill tree combine to drastically alter how you play with degrees of freedom similar to Diablo 3.
    -Find and build your own gameplay style - can feel extremely rewarding when you discover that perfect combination of skills, mods, and guns to absolutely dominate combat.

    The mixed:
    -Decent story that spans the campaign, but really could have benefited from a lot more depth. Story jumps from major plot point to plot point (which are good) without much in between. Most character dialogue end abruptly as soon as something interesting gets raised as opposed allowing an option to explore or expanding on a topic. A real missed opportunity.
    -Graphics/sound - nothing particularly spectacular, but nothing bad either. Typical good-looking UE4 game you'd expect.
    - Mixed crafting system. Modifying gear is easy and cheap in terms of resource cost, which really helps in freely customizing gear to optimize your build. That said, leveling up gear to keep with you as you level can get expensive, which negatively impacts the ability to keep gear on an optimized build or a sweet combo you found 30 minutes ago.
    -Character progression - in general the progression feels good and centers around leveling up, gaining abilities, speccing the skilltree, and collecting gear mods. However, the world tier and expedition tier systems are poorly tuned and can cause wild swings in difficulty. Absolutely overpowered one moment to completely getting destroyed the next. The pace and difficulty scaling of the progression system works against the core gameplay mechanic of putting together an optimized build, as RNG gear becomes obsolete very quickly.
    -Loot - There's plenty of variety and variation in gear to try to get the perfect piece for your build. However, as is the achilles with all loot-based games, ultimately it comes down to RNG to find a piece of gear with a higher number associated with it. Much more depth than Destiny 2 and more similar to Division 2 and even Diablo 3.

    The bad:
    -The end game is merely a new set of levels without adding any extra notable content, difficulty, or progression mechanics. It's the same progression system of collecting and matching gear level to difficulty tier level. The end game difficulty scaling also inexplicably goes beyond the campaign scaling, which means you can't take your end game optimized build to have fun with in the all the content of the campaign without being incredibly OP. A campaign NG+ would have served well here.
    -Early bugs and downtime - first, it's only been a week, but there's the typical slew of server/connection problems and crashes you'd expect with an online game week 1 but frankly shouldn't have to deal with. Some other nasty bugs that lose progression/inventory as well.

    Buy this game if you...
    - Like complexity and variety in creating builds
    - Like playing ability-based gameplay, with only minor focus on shooting mechanics
    - Like being able to play and fine tune a variety of play styles similar to action RPGs

    Don't buy this game if you...
    - Expect heavy focus on shooting gameplay (this game is ability focused)
    - Expect a cover-based shooter like gears of war (you'll spend very little time in cover)
    - Expect a canned combat loop (you have the make your own. Play like gears of war or destiny and you might find yourself disappointed in those playstyles don't work in this game, even though the game allows you to)
    - Expect a deep endgame with new challenges (you'll get play with builds, but not really any significant challenges like raids)    … Expand

    This is a good quality looter shooter. The combat is interesting and challenging and I am a fan of the way the game makes you dive into battle rather than get bogged down behind cover like The Division for example. My main wishes for the game would be to have a more open feeling world as outriders world feels quite linear. It is a shame it's not an mmorpg like destiny.

    It is also a shame that some people have clearly given this game zero score reviews due to initial release server instability frustration. This is bringing down the score of what is clearly a decent game and although we shouldn't have to put up with server instability it's nothing new to the gaming community and one that almost always gets fixed within a week of launch.    … Expand

    The game is fun. Has the stuff going on in this game been done before. Yes. Doesn't make it any less enjoyable. Solo play is a bit challenging but not enough that you can't make it through most of the combat. The crafting system is limited. It's more about upgrading the weapons and armor you find and not building new things.

    Where this game is lacking is due to its ability to be played on old consoles or computers. Since it was focused to run on old tech a lot of the fighting seems dated. With random fight cut scenes and small map loading for waves of battle. If I were playing on a PS4 or older xbox I would be very happy with the game. Since I'm playing on my PC with high end graphics card I feel like I'm playing an older game. Over all still enjoyable.    … Expand

    Outriders guarantees an enjoyable evening with friends. We had lots of fun clearing out stage after stage, gathering loot, upgrading our gear and improving our builds so they complement each other perfectly. The final score would have been higher if it weren’t for tons of technical issues we had to deal with. [06/2021, p.28]

    Killing everything that moves with bullets and magic while enjoying picturesque alien vistas is good enough for 20 hours (30, if you’re into Expeditions), but don’t expect anything more substantial out of Outriders.

    Gears of War meets Destiny… and the end result is mediocre. Take away the "coolness" of playing a gun totting superhero, and all you are left with is basically one more generic looter shooter, that doesn't manage to impress, neither with its repetitive gameplay, nor with its boring story and world building. Add to that a couple of technical and network issues, and you are in for a - pricey - treat.
