    Another "Game as a service" typical garbage just like EA's Anthem. Always online mode even for single player (no offline mode) completely forgettable story, cheesy voice acting, half-baked gameplay mechanics trying to copy Gears of Wars and Destiny but being worse than both of these games and as about the graphics reminds me some old games from 2010 and many bugs its like an early accessAnother "Game as a service" typical garbage just like EA's Anthem.     4th Using gear of war system here is a retard idea, the game is fast pace with multiple enemy rushing and tanking your shots, but the game does not allow you to jump, dash or crouch. Not only that, the cover system of gear of war + camera angle result in you will constantly being sucked into wall, preventing you from moving fast. In order word, the covering is not for you, it is for the enemy, these covering are obstacle for you.

    I am amazed that a lot of youtube reviewer give this badly designed game higher than average score.    … Expand

    It’s been over a week and this game is still unplayable. The severs are absolute garbage and it takes forever to get logged in. If you get kicked which is more than likely going to happen you get to enjoy waiting forever again. Servers are GARBAGE. Don’t waste your money.

    I played the full demo (PC) version with some friends. The first few hours were ok, I gave it a decent amount of room to grow and develop. I was excited for a 'diablo style shooter' and committed to trying the full demo experience before making a decision whether to purchase.

    What i found was a front to back lackluster experience. I did not encounter many of the bugs others complained about at the time. A few disconnects, a few party forming errors etc. I could live with the errors especially since it was a demo and technically nearing the end of it's early access.

    The story is extremely bland, so much so that I do not feel compelled to play further. Does the loot style and short cooldowns on abilities feel diablo esc? YES!... but lacking and or missing something. The story wasn't it's strong point, but I couldn't really even buy into this games world enough to keep playing. The gameplay was fine, but always felt janky and frankly missing elements that would have hooked me further.

    If I could summarize in only a few words i'd say that Outriders is, on paper, an excellent game but it misses the mark on story, gameplay, and world building so i'll pass on this one. Maybe i'll revisit when the game ACTUALLY feels complete and has had quite a bit more polish / missing puzzle pieces included.

    A completely underwhelming and buggy experience. Crashes, disconnects, bugs.
    Gameplay is very raw and unpolished, derivative. Game aspires to be the next Destiny, but doesn't put the effort in and will likely end up being the next Anthem.

    Save yourself some time on this one and just skip.

    Игра ООООЧЕНЬ скучная. Шутер довольно уныл своими однотипными врагами. Сюжет виднеется где-то на заднем плане пусть и со сценками, но привязанными как-то не умело. Нет чего-то надрывного из-за чего проникаешься миром игры. Персонажи своими разговорами тоже не способствуют развитию оных. Мне было скучно после 7 часов игры. Может я и вернусь когда-нибудь в эту игру, но не сейчас, мне нужноИгра ООООЧЕНЬ скучная. Шутер довольно уныл своими однотипными врагами.     First of all, if you include server issues this review would be about a 3 or 4. However, as those were not the Game's fault, and stupid butt microsoft's, My review will be about the game itself.

Having only 3 feels a little... like consoles are holding back games, yet again. The story is Really good but it feels so Fast. Almost like the game is Afraid to go 30 seconds without shooting at something. I feel like at literally any point in the story they could have slowed down and got us invested a little more. They did on purpose, I think, which makes the missions feel meaningless. They are Only a point to get XP and reach endgame. Only other gripe I have is that the cover system is so Well Made... yet almost Completely useless. I am currently farming level 46 items and taking cover just feels like a time waster unless I am reloading.

    The weapons are numerous with multiple styles, there are tons and tons of mods to gather and expirement with and as i said earlier, the game is just Fun. It will get repetative after a while so I hope some more content is on its way.

    I am hopeful for the future of this game, it can be great. But the poor launch really stunted any splash this game otherwise would have made. But with the few issues I have with the game, ontop of constant crashes and gameplay interuptions... I really wish I could give this a higher rating. I hope we get to see DLC like making our own cult or collecting meta resources to upgrade our camp or some kind of illusion that what we do Matters in the game. But it all just feels...... shooty shoot looty loot and shooty shoot some more.    … Expand

    While the game has a great foundation and potential, the decisions made for its development and its poor execution have severly hurt the games future. For a game that prodomently is played single player to be required to be online only ( a devision typically made as a eatto combat digital piracy)

    All the 10/10 ratings are total BS. Anybody that looks online at steam forums can see thousands of posts complaining the game is unplayable and broken. OUTRIDERS is worthless because it requires a constant connection to their servers which are broken.

    The single player part of the game is OK, although the story starts out like meh a bit, it get better later on. I quite enjoyed the game. However there are a lot of some issues that ruins the experience.
    Some game design issues around networking part are really bad, starting with matchmaking being immediately open, which came as a shock. You cannot choose specifically what you want to do, which expedition you want to go to, and since the matchmaking is for the lobby, where's no guarantee that the person you join to is actually doing the activity you signed up for.. 50--50 if they just stand in the camp, or do something completely different.. Story mode multiplayer ask you to confirm every little thing multiple times to ensure you are in the same instance and there are soo many instances that it's getting tedious after a short time..
    But the main reason I give the game a 0 is the instable, unreliable networking part and the mandatory sign-in at the beginning even if you play solo.
    The multiplayer part of the game is abysmally bad. Game is not able to log in about 40% of the time, 50% is crashing out of the console, crashing when you join a game, crashing when the host starts an activity, crashing when you finally tarts something, crashing when anybody else is crashing.. I'm playing a lot of games, but I can't recall in recent history anything that would be THIS BAD. The game had multiple alphas and beta tests, I can't believe the developers were not aware of the demand and the load balance they need to do on the servers, because it's unbelievable that these issues have not came out earlier.. The game can't manage to hold a stable game of multiplayer.. Ever since I started playing, I can't recall actually exiting a multiplayer game. It was always crashing out dropping me to tile, stuck in sign in etc..
    Every new game has issues, but the amount of network problems this one has put in in par with Anthem, even worse.. At least when I managed to log into Anthem in mostly hold the game at least, Outriders, can't even manage basic functionality.    … Expand

    A week after launch the servers are now somewhat stable, even if players are still reporting massive numbers of crashes in both single and multiplayer.     This game has an inventory wipe bug where even If you do not play ”online” i.e use matchmaking ur entire, ENTIRE inventory, all gear, all ur time spent just poof! Gone. Ud think the devs/support could help you get it back but they just announced that Nope, ur just **** IN A LOOTER SHOOTER GAME THIS IS A THING. Do. Not. Play.

    The game has major balance issues and the devs are extremely lazy. This game is poorly developed and very boring in terms of builds and classes. PCF is a failure. The story is kind of interesting but otherwise the game is not worth buying.

Even for single player experience, you need to be connected online to Outriders servers. And as of today, servers are not handling well. Constant disconnects and several hours long outages prevent you from playing the game AT ALL.

    EDITED REVIEW: After the recent developer new, I have decided to change the review, as negligance of developers was revealed. First of all, they are absolutely ignoring the worst issues like wipe of directory content, forcing players with lost gear to wait for weeks before they get some of it back. Also, instead of buffing other classes and mods to make other builds more viable, they have actually chosen nerf approach. They did not fix a single crash in 9 days.

    Second major issue is cross-play, which was promised, but is not functional since launch, so if you planned to have Easter coop Outriders session with your friends on different platforms, not happening.

    I would suggest to check the game some time later to avoid the frustration and save some time.    … Expand

    After updating all drivers I have no problems with the game. Fun and quick gameplay, diverse classes and interesting lore. Playing demo give me a chance to check this game - a full product has everything I wanted and more.

    -Refreshing fast-paced gameplay - this is a first/third person, action RPG based on shooting guns as opposed to swinging swords or shooting bows.
    -Depth in RPG elements - variety in abilities, gear mods, and skill tree combine to drastically alter how you play with degrees of freedom similar to Diablo 3.
    -Find and build your own gameplay style - can feel extremely rewarding when you discover that perfect combination of skills, mods, and guns to absolutely dominate combat.

    The mixed:
    -Decent story that spans the campaign, but really could have benefited from a lot more depth. Story jumps from major plot point to plot point (which are good) without much in between. Most character dialogue end abruptly as soon as something interesting gets raised as opposed allowing an option to explore or expanding on a topic. A real missed opportunity.
    -Graphics/sound - nothing particularly spectacular, but nothing bad either. Typical good-looking UE4 game you'd expect.
    - Mixed crafting system. Modifying gear is easy and cheap in terms of resource cost, which really helps in freely customizing gear to optimize your build. That said, leveling up gear to keep with you as you level can get expensive, which negatively impacts the ability to keep gear on an optimized build or a sweet combo you found 30 minutes ago.
    -Character progression - in general the progression feels good and centers around leveling up, gaining abilities, speccing the skilltree, and collecting gear mods. However, the world tier and expedition tier systems are poorly tuned and can cause wild swings in difficulty. Absolutely overpowered one moment to completely getting destroyed the next. The pace and difficulty scaling of the progression system works against the core gameplay mechanic of putting together an optimized build, as RNG gear becomes obsolete very quickly.
    -Loot - There's plenty of variety and variation in gear to try to get the perfect piece for your build. However, as is the achilles with all loot-based games, ultimately it comes down to RNG to find a piece of gear with a higher number associated with it. Much more depth than Destiny 2 and more similar to Division 2 and even Diablo 3.

    The bad:
    -The end game is merely a new set of levels without adding any extra notable content, difficulty, or progression mechanics. It's the same progression system of collecting and matching gear level to difficulty tier level. The end game difficulty scaling also inexplicably goes beyond the campaign scaling, which means you can't take your end game optimized build to have fun with in the all the content of the campaign without being incredibly OP. A campaign NG+ would have served well here.
    -Early bugs and downtime - first, it's only been a week, but there's the typical slew of server/connection problems and crashes you'd expect with an online game week 1 but frankly shouldn't have to deal with. Some other nasty bugs that lose progression/inventory as well.

    Buy this game if you...
    - Like complexity and variety in creating builds
    - Like playing ability-based gameplay, with only minor focus on shooting mechanics
    - Like being able to play and fine tune a variety of play styles similar to action RPGs

    Don't buy this game if you...
    - Expect heavy focus on shooting gameplay (this game is ability focused)
    - Expect a cover-based shooter like gears of war (you'll spend very little time in cover)
    - Expect a canned combat loop (you have the make your own. Play like gears of war or destiny and you might find yourself disappointed in those playstyles don't work in this game, even though the game allows you to)
    - Expect a deep endgame with new challenges (you'll get play with builds, but not really any significant challenges like raids)    … Expand

    A truly great looter shooter. It does exactly what it states it wants to do; be Diaboo with guns. All the negative reviews are people wanting the game to be something it never claimed to be; ignore those children.

    If it wasn't for gamepss i would have never tried this game to be honest, but i litterly spend allready 35h in it since launch i'm currently soo hooked to this game i have to force myself to not play and take breaks, i usually never enjoy Looter games but this is so diffrent from all other looter games even farming is fun in this game which is a thing that allways kills my excitment for aIf it wasn't for gamepss i would have never tried this game to be honest, but i litterly spend allready 35h in it since launch i'm currently soo hooked to this game i have to force myself to not play and take breaks, i usually never enjoy Looter games but this is so diffrent from all other looter games even farming is fun in this game which is a thing that allways kills my excitment for a game if i have to farm but i spend like 6h straight farming one sidemission for Worldtier EXP and gear abd the time flew by me without even knowing the only reason i don't give it a 10/10 is because of some janki facial animations and square enixes poor server handling at launch, other than that i realy do enjoy and love this game been a long time since i got hooked that much on a game.… Expand

    After spend 50+ hour playing this challenging and fun game, I finally got hit with a game crash that wiped my end game inventory with no fix in sight. With that all said if you enjoy gears and the leveling system of Diablo you will enjoy playing this game but it will crash! a lot!! and it’s riddled with bugs like anthem.

    I'm having a blast with this game on Xbox Series X, mostly solo. The abilities combined with satisfying combat feels amazing, and the difficulty is just the right amount of challenging. Beating the first boss after finding the best combination of gear and skills, and grinding for some upgrades is something I may not have done in another game, instead of just moving on to something else.I'm having a blast with this game on Xbox Series X, mostly solo.     What a shame. This is a great game plagued with some very severe bugs. The bugs are so large and so severe that I'm forced to give my first 1/10. I would absolutely recommend people stay far away from this game until they patch some very large bugs.

    - Random Inventory Wipes. Literally all my gear is gone after disconnecting from an expedition. ~40 hours of work down the drain. -    What a shame. This is a great game plagued with some very severe bugs. The bugs are so large and so severe that I'm forced to give my first 1/10. I would absolutely recommend people stay far away from this game until they patch some very large bugs.

    - Random Inventory Wipes. Literally all my gear is gone after disconnecting from an expedition. ~40 hours of work down the drain.
    - Constant crashes to desktop during expeditions. Google this issue, its a meme at this point.
    - PC Frame rate issues. I have a 3080 and it runs absolutely horribly. We're talking 40-50 FPS when its being decent.
    - Always online, garbage servers. Constant disconnects, servers going down, login issues... you name it.
    - Abilities don't always always work. Trickster teleport basically doesn't work 1/3 of the time.
    - NPC's disappear and force you to log out and in for them to reappear
    - Missing quest markers or markers that lead no where

    This is likely the last square game I purchase until they can rebuild the trust. They have a huge amount of work ahead of them to make this game playable.

    The fact that there is no wide spread PSA that warns players about the inventory wipe bug is also just insane mismanagement. They absolutely should be disabling match making until they find a fix for this. If you play multiplayer its not IF you will run into this issue, but rather WHEN you will run into this issue.

    Customers are forced to go to reddit or twitter to post their experience with this bug. I only find out about this issue after experiencing the issue first hand and scouring the internet for answers.

    What's worse is apparently this issue has been going on for WEEKS now. They can force players to be always online, but they can't push out a simple in game warning about the current state of multiplayer?

    After my playthrough (100%, all side quests), I would say the game is worth the $60. It's endgame content gives countless hours after the main story has finished, which is a big plus. Overall the gunplay:ability ratio is pretty consistent, you'll use your guns as much as your abilities if you're not going for a weapon/ability specific build. The game is really rewarding, as most high-levelAfter my playthrough (100%, all side quests), I would say the game is worth the $60. It's endgame content gives countless hours after the main story has finished, which is a big plus. Overall the gunplay:ability ratio is pretty consistent, you'll use your guns as much as your abilities if you're not going for a weapon/ability specific build. The game is really rewarding, as most high-level enemies on higher World Tiers drop epic+ weaponry/armor rather constantly. Overall the only thing I am uncertain about are the post-release content drops, as I can't imagine the game ends off here. Don't listen to the negative feedback, although the complaints of bugs and launch server issues are warranted, the overall negativety due to these issues are absolutely wrong. This game turns you into a God. The dialog and voice acting are a bit on the cheese side but it reminds me of their previous title, Bulletstorm. Mods fundamentally change the way your class works and the way you play providing a payer of depth that I was pleasantly surprised. This is not the Division this is not Destiny. It doesn't play like either of these titles or like Squares most recent release, Avengers. Absolutely do not sleep on this title. Also ignore PCGAMER this person clearly doesn't understand how to play the game. This game by the end shows there is so much more that we can get from this hopefully long living franchise, and I hope PCF does release more content or a future release… Expand

    Unimaginative game with a lot of technical problems. The gameplay is basically a Avatar-Like storygame/lootshooter with multiplayer support. Besides that, I've seen nothing that makes that game standout, except myriad of bugs that made me restart the game like 10 times, just to finish the prologue. I cant recommend.

    The shooting is great, campaign is long, tons of interesting side quests and a crafting/mod system that can keep you busy for many hours coming up with interesting builds. A few quality of life patches and this game could be nearly perfect.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's get this out of the way. Outriders isn't a bad game. It's foundations are solid. But there's quite a lot of issues with the game and playability. But there's issues with the story as well.

    Let's start with issues.
    - There's plenty of bugs. From graphical bugs (most consistent one I've seen is hair "clipping" through helmets) to gameplay bugs (especially tied to the cover system). There's also a bug on some skill activations that locks your character into a slow walk animation where the only resolution is to exit and relaunch the game.
    - Game crashes ae random and intermittent. Often tied to cutscenes or interactions.
    - Shoddy servers. So this game gives us the age old lesson in what happens when you have an always online game and servers not setup for the demand. In this case constant disconnect, inability to pause, random jittery issues.
    - Game balancing, the game quickly progresses you through "world tiers" which is it's difficulty levels. It's clearly not balanced around single player and more balanced around multiplayer and co-op. Early in the game I ran into a battle where I simply could not win due to the games mechanics and setup. What's worse is like many looter shooter games (division, destiny, anthem etc) it gives players abilities. These abilities are how you heal in the game to keep fighting and do damage. But the abilities themselves are simply lack luster and fail to deliver.

    Story:
    The story is probably the worst part of the game because it simply makes no sense when you think about it for more then two seconds.

    Humanity realized Earth was going into a state of upheaval where the entire planet was having severe seismic activity. This was going to render Earth uninhabitable in a century. Out of all the proposed solutions the game mentions we follow the Flores a space ship designed to take humans to a new planet "Enoch" to become a new home.

    You play as an "Outrider" (que the reference to the games title) supposedly the best humanity has to offer in almost every field! Except you're not. The intro to the game explicitly states you aren't an actual outrider. You're one in name only. See the game describes in great detail that the actual Outriders were all killed when the caval ship that was supposed to scout ahead of the Flores had an accident and was lost in Earth orbit. So who are the actual outriders? Random mercenaries chosen and given the title.

    The game keeps referring to you throughout the story as an "outrider" as if it has some significant importance but so far it amounts to a title only. Also everyone hates you because the planet is a death trap and why would the Outriders allow anyone to land? Except they didn't. One of the heads of the expedition forced the landing and murdered most of the Outriders, the rest of them died off doing what they were supposed to be doing and exploring.

    After the start of the game you become what's called an "altered" or near immortal human with crazy powers caused by the planets weird storms. While this does cause people to be in awe of your character the Outrider moniker does not. Honestly I'm not sure what their plan is for the story here but in regards to the Outrider title it's stupid.

    Beyond that to facilitate the combat they talk about a 31 year war inside a single valley on the planet between the remaining 500,000 survivors who were marooned on the planet. It also goes on to talk about how due to the storms they lost all their technology. So for 31 years a half million people have been consistently murdering each other with little food and no technology. Yet there's gun galore and other technology. The setting doesn't make sense. Also you're allies hate you the second you wake up even though they put you in cryo. Like you even had a choice in the matter.

    Only 5 hours in, but I’m hooked. Awesome gameplay and combat mechanics, story is actually not too bad, loot system so far feels balanced, character classes and skill trees are awesome. Looking forward to the end game and playing with my mate. I’ve had no server or technical issues here in Aus.

    - Weapons: nothing unique, standard weapons as many other shooters.
    - Armor: looks cool, set bonus for legendary armor is a nice idea but really limited atm.
    - Abilities: even though they look cool, they get boring pretty quickly, I found myself change between skills and trees non-stop. Also some options in the skill trees make no sense. For example, on my technomancer i wanted a poison build so I invest heavily in the top tree but some really good poison perks are in the bottom tree for some reason??
    - Matchmaking: This must be the worst thing in the game. It is laggy as hell, it crashes the game but the worst thing is that it asks you what you want to play but if you randomly join someone for an expedition, that person can just decide to do other stuff instead of it or stand around. And why is that? Because the game just randomly puts you in a team with someone regardless of what they want to do or if they are even there. It happened pretty often that I stood in a camp and upgraded my gear, then randomly 1-2 people joined on me, I wasn't looking for people to join me. 8/10 players I joined are literally just standing there or want to do other stuff. Why not pool people together that selected an activity. It feels like Destiny LFG but nobody knows what the other one wants to do or if they are even there.
    - Builds: Anomaly infused bullets and ignore the rest. That's the meta, every enemy is a bullet sponge in this game, its the only viable way to deal damage. I tried all of the ablities on every class but everything else is significantly worse than the anomaly bullets. So with normal gunplay and the other abilities you do way too little damage but with anomaly bullets you melt everything in your way. In a party of 3 you can expect everyone to run Anomaly bullets with tricksters and technomancers using their slow and freeze abilities. So you end up shooting motionless enemies that will die in super fast. But I can't blame them, who wants to shoot an entire mag into one enemy.

    2/10, legendary armor and weapons look interesting and can give you a small extra to you build, rest is far under average.    … Expand

    И тут до меня доходит, на пробел прячемся в укрытие, на контрол перепрыгиваем препятствие. Прыжков, приседаний и других итераций в игре нет. Персонаж не может перешагнуть лиану высотой до колена. И перепрыгнуть тоже, она слишком низкая для такой анимации. Офигенная опция, происходит что-то на фоне карты, за пределами коридора, появляется "Нажмите Е, чтобы наблюдать", вау как интересно, что чтобы наблюдать, я могу СМОТРЕТЬ не сам.

    Забрало падает. Соснольщики ликуют.

    Есть нормальные игры, а есть игры где ты прилипаешь к поверхностям, и стреляешь пока враг высунулся. Очень, очень, очень интересный геймплей. Кстати инерция в этой игре сосет, персонаж скользит влево вправо, как будто на льду.
    Начинается диалог - камеру трясет, стреляешь - камеру трясет (укачивает влево-вправо), часть катсцен пропустить можно, часть нет. Почему? Потому
    .Сюжет тупорылый, персонажи ходят по планете без шлемов и средств защиты, спорят, нарушают технику безопасности - сразу видно профессиОналы с большой буквы Г. Харизматичные? Ну разве что пше пше поляк.
    Каждый раз когда идешь по коридору и видишь бочки/столы/укрепления, значит всегда будет перестрелка, и враги всегда будут спереди. Расстановка как в шашках. Ты - укрепления - враги. Повторить и зациклить до конца игры, геймдизайн холе.

    Последними плевками в лицо были:
    Стрельба из снайперской винтовки только стоя, стрейф или движение и прицел начинает ходить быстрее тебя. Плюс при прицеливании он первые пол секунды дрожит как бы при вскидывании.
    Я кучу раз на пустом месте нажал абилку, затем применил на врагах и персонаж такой "Ух, это я сделал???". Ты что дегенерат, уже пятый раз подряд я применил этот скилл. Скрипты писал одаренный интеллектом.

    Это позор позора, эта игра делает все то, что другие лутер шутеры, но хуже. Я не люблю дестини, но она показалась мне просто шикарной по сравнению с этим калом.
    Подытожу: Это убогая версия дестини с видом от третьего лица, без прыжков и приседаний, с укрытиями и кастрированным функционалом. Как если бы у первого бордерлендса был ублюдок от Sci-Fi бомжихи с ужасной наследственностью.

The Division and Destiny never really vibed well with me so I was hesitant going in, but I've been hooked from the start. It's cheesy, in a fun way to me but to each their own, but it has fun abilities and shooting. Love the equipment system and the ease of modding items already in the game.     Masterpiece, 10/10. True that servers was an issue first 2-3 days, but NO reason to downvote a game for that. Last 2 days had no problems at all.
    Graphics runs very smooth, 1440P with dlss quality, all maxed (10900K+3080)

    Best game out there today, buy it!!!

    This is a very good game. Yes there are bugs and server issues but there is so much to like about it. Good story with very good voice acting, great skills modification possibilities, very nice weapon progression system, good fight dynamics, interesting lore (if you want to read a lot). I am surprised that I like it that much. Maybe not a title for hard core looter shooter fans but clicks for me.

    Yes, the servers have had some issues, and there are some performance issues with stuttering on PC, BUT this is not a Cyberpunk level issue in terms of bugs, and there is no lack-of-content issue like in Anthem. That being said, even over the course of the three days after release, they were figuring things out and I haven't had issues since.     Pros
    1. Crafting system allows you to swap mods on gear, level up gear, increase its rarity, increase specific traits, and even swap fire modes on weapons. Seriously awesome customization for weapons and armor.
    2. The mods add tons of gameplay diversity.
    3. Each class is very unique with eight abilities that stand out dramatically from each other. Reflecting bullets, putting magma clips into guns, slowing down enemies... soooo much cool stuff.
    4. Loot system is right there with the best of them in design and offers more than I've ever seen before. 46 Legendary guns and I think 96 pieces of armor... at least... maybe some game out there has launched with more, but this would certainly be close.
    5. World Tier adds a very intuitive difficulty option. Can be scaled up or down any time to increase/decrease difficulty and therefore loot drop odds.
    5. Tons of end game gear (legendary weapons/armor) as mentioned before. Weapons aesthetic is very fun and well animated. Armor is decent but not quite as good as weapons.
    6. End game is very hard, but perfectly doable if you've put time into developing build synergy.
    7. Enemy diversity is pretty good (not the greatest, but good enough). Most of the diversity will come from the player end honestly, and that's fine. The enemies are very well balanced.

    Cons
    1. Weapon audio is meh (though I don't have every legendary, so we will see)
    2. Servers, obviously, and being always online in general

    Creo que hubo problemas con los servidores el primer día, por eso tiene tantos votos negativos, pero a mi no me ha dado ningún problema.

    It's a pretty basic arena looter shooter style so don't expect an open world ala The Division and don't expect either fights in open zones. Let's say it's like Gears 5 without the open world but with loot.
    The routine is divided as follow : you are teleported in a zone where    A lot of bugs, crashes, servers and performance issues but even without all these flaws, the game is average.
    It's a pretty basic arena looter shooter style so don't expect an open world ala The Division and don't expect either fights in open zones. Let's say it's like Gears 5 without the open world but with loot.

    The routine is divided as follow : you are teleported in a zone where you have to run to the next arena to fight enemies. After that, you go to the next arena. Little to explore, no differents paths, just corridors empty of enemies to walk you to the next arena. The side missions are locked behind doors and opening them will "loading screen" you to another zone where you will have to repeat the game routine. It's as basic as it sounds.
    About the gameplay, this is good while not perfect (the cover system can quickly lead you to a undeserved death because of its magnet feature) but the game suffers from balancing issues.
    In the same level difficulty (aka world tier), you will be able to kill a giant arachnide "souls" boss at your first try but you will struggle against enemy captains and die several times. But overall it's okay.

    The loot is abundant and really interesting, even in low tier you will have to experiment your build, change attributes, craft and modify items, etc... This is for me where the game shines the most.

    In conclusion, Outriders is a slighty above average game, though it is really overpriced (€60) for the basic arena encounters it has to offer..    … Expand

    If Destiny 2 and The Division 2 had a child it would be Outriders, and with touch of Doom Eternal to the pace of the combat, you have the best tps of the moment, and a great game overall! Good graphics, excelent performance, the only downside is the lack of gaas elements and mechanics, the game screams gaas on your face all the time but never deliver the full experience as it should be!

First of all I’ll give a tip, disable cross play because it’s in beta mode. I found that tip online because I was having the same trouble and connection errors stopped all at once.
    The second tip I’ll give is to lower your graphics settings. That’s on the user not fully on the developers. The game will try to run at maximum settings just like it did on my scenario, but it will crash even providing smooth gameplay up to that point. You have to lower your settings and it will stop.

    That being said, this game has a wonderful story which I am absolutely entrenched in. The characters are absolutely memorable and the story alone is an adventure worth following. It has a lot of generic ideas from past games of this genre, but where it stands out most is the fact that it’s like playing gears of war, Tom Clancy‘s division, and a bit of borderlands all in one. It’s a bit linear on the story side, but it does give you room to play around and go where you want within those linear stages. You can replay missions in side quests to level up your gear, and when doing so every character you meet along the way upon starting a side quest is an integral part of the story that you learn just that much more of. There’s a lot of reading which if you take the time to do, it certainly adds big pieces of the puzzle of what’s going on around you in the game.

    So once again I just want to reiterate that this game is not a 5.5 game! And I say that not because I feel like my opinion is better than others, but rather I see it purely for what the game is over the keyboard smashing angry people for not realizing how a PC works when trying to game on this particular platform. It’s not a console. You have to adjust your settings to make a game run smoothly according to your hardware and apparently a lot of people don’t know how to do that.

    game is fantastic - nasty mix of gears of war and the division. combat a+ and nasty, challenging - 16 levels - possibly most challenging game made. play solo for now...

    Honestly... AAA online only game that has servers that do not even connect is a joke of all jokes. Released on April fools, I feel the fool for paying full price for a game that I am yet to be able to login to. The demo was fairly smooth and fun. But the game itself is an appalling mess. Fortunately I managed to get a refund as day one bugs is normal. But being unable to even play is ridiculous.

    but: servers are NOT the game. judging a game only by its server issues is severely unfair - as these problems will be solved in foreseeable future. even with those problems solved - the mediocre to extremely bad reviews remain visible to just about anybody. imagine this: you login to the game in a week from now and realize it´s actually pretty awesome. punishing the devs for their infrastructure is in no relation to the effort behind such a game - art direction, storytelling, coding, ...

    so lets put things into perspective again:
    the servers suck right now.
    but:
    the game has good writing, an interesting story, some hilariously well done cut scenes that entertained me a lot. i identify with my own character, which is pretty seldom given the fact, that i play a shooter. the gunplay is pretty solid, lots of weapon feedback - and the RPG level ads an interesting and highly individual element to my playing style. the idea that you only heal, when you kill is awesome. great amount of chaos - in a positive way. and: the voice acting is awesome - but thats a quite subjective view, as i´ve seen reading other reviews.

    the reason i give it a clear 10 is, though, to compensate all the zeros given by people who are simply angry because of first day server problems. they don´t evaluate the game. the game deserves an 8 or 9.    … Expand

    I understand having an internet connection to verify purchases ala app stores and such, but having an always on connection for a single-player game? Nope, nah-uh, no thanks. Please see Valheim for the right way to do online co-op multiplayer. For 1/3rd the price of this game? Ya, this is a travesty of the gaming industry in 2021.

    Sorry but i had to make this review. I played lots of games. Including fallout and persona and a lil bit of destiny. But for the first time ever, i got bored of just playing this game. There's a dark tone on this game and i love it. Bit hearing that people experience server crashing is just sad.

    Graphically the game is very weak. Aside from some occasional nice lighting, It looks like a game from 5 years ago, at least. The character animations are weak and the mocap looks shoddy. Occasionally facial animations look bizarre, with characters showing their awful teeth and gums too much, or clothing physics jump around between camera changes, etc. The former being made worse by the truly awful character models. (See below). It also has one of the most pathetic character creation tools I've ever seen, especially for a game claiming to be, in part, an RPG. You literally get to choose from a handful of heads, some makeup/facial hair, and hairstyles. No body alterations, no facial tuning.
    This wouldn't be so bad, if it weren't for the fact that the stock heads are so damned ugly. Male or female, just hideous or boring, or both.

    Gameplay wise, it's essentially gears of war on tighter rails. The missions are extremely linear. Move from A to B, kill enemies, repeat. If you have a team, some of you flank, blah, blah.
    It's also pretty easy, even with the tiers enabled.

    Your characters powers are very derivative too. We've seen all this stuff before, and that isnt always a bad thing. After all, tried and tested works. However, these mechanics are just boring.

    On a plus side. There are lots of weapons, and clearly some thought went into combining certain perks with gunplay, which is nice. Unfortunately it doesn't make up for all the other short falls.

    Overall, the game just feels lacklustre. It's graphically uninteresting, gameplay is repetitive, derivative, and god damn, those player characters are hideous    … Expand

The weapons feel heavy and pack so much punch and the powers are crazy.     Pros:

    + no BS. you really get what you pay for. Standalone, contained experience with no MTX, lootboxes, GAAS bloated skeleton of a game. This is fully executed product for 30-50 hours of gameplay you've paid for.
    + builds, synergies, minmaxing, power fantasy. The general jist of looter shooters
    + if Destiny 2 and Warframe had a violent threesome with Borderlands 3 while Division 2 was filming the whole thing and Deep Rock Galactic was peeping through the window - this is Outriders
    + full support of devs. I just can't imagine frustration that they have due to Square Enix's faulty online infrastructure
    + shooting feeling. Vital in game where you spend 90% of your time spewing bullets
    + performance. You can see that PCF put a lot of time into thinking this one through and optimizing the gorgeous Unreal engine 4 to make it work like a charm. Fast loadings (albeit frequent), no major bugs, visual clarity, sporadic audio cut-offs when there are 20938 sound channels overlapping,
    + a bit less obvious yet important thing - no grave imbalance between the classes.

    Cons:

    - servers, but frankly, for 50 hours straight I would say I had relatively unhindered experience.
    - enemies variety. This is a bit of lackluster, yet it might be fatigue due to long time already put into it.
    - frankly, I don't see much of the solo endgame at the moment. Eye of the storm and level 50 is my go to and then probably another character, however game would really benefit from like set items, more build defining uniques...
    - missing pvp which would be fun if PCF would change it's stance on GAAS and balance such mode properly

    Final thoughts. If you are in the market for looter shooter for foreseeable 50-100+ hours and got your index finger bored with Destiny & co., the Outriders might just scratch that itch. It is truly enjoyable game, occassionally (frequency might vary) hampered by repetitive encounters and server issues (which I'm certain it will be ironed out very soon).

    Ideas and concepts for future:
    * transmogrification is a must and despite game not having players' hub (since it's not GAAS) where you can flash out your sparkling new WMDs and robes, it would be nice to have outfit that you fully like rather than orange sneakers with predator skull helmet, tight spandex pants with a wet rag on your back.
    * Hunts, assassinations with more modifiers. Instances with affixed giving you bonuses, akin Borderlands 3 system. Increasing game longevity.
    * Environment interaction. Doubtly this can be implemented but as PCF worked wonders with environmental kills in BulletStorm, I thought we might have some of that in Outriders.
    * new biomes and enemies. At some point.    … Expand

    Outriders guarantees an enjoyable evening with friends. We had lots of fun clearing out stage after stage, gathering loot, upgrading our gear and improving our builds so they complement each other perfectly. The final score would have been higher if it weren’t for tons of technical issues we had to deal with. [06/2021, p.28]

    Killing everything that moves with bullets and magic while enjoying picturesque alien vistas is good enough for 20 hours (30, if you’re into Expeditions), but don’t expect anything more substantial out of Outriders.

    Gears of War meets Destiny… and the end result is mediocre. Take away the "coolness" of playing a gun totting superhero, and all you are left with is basically one more generic looter shooter, that doesn't manage to impress, neither with its repetitive gameplay, nor with its boring story and world building. Add to that a couple of technical and network issues, and you are in for a - pricey - treat.
