    Nothing too spectacular really, I guess I am suffering from to high expectations, as it was recommended as the scariest game ever... it goes nowhere near scariness of evil within, or silent hill, it's not extremely bad ether, if you are afraid or darkness and freaks then this is your game...

    Outlast is a popular title of a game full of nope. It's not a "not scary, just takes you by surprise" kind of horror game -- It IS frikkin' scary. The environment of the game is suffocating and pressuring to the player. Outlast is one of those horror titles wherein you really feel everything about the situation.

    PS: I still haven't finished it, scared af. Not so good without weapons really

    Whilst the setting is cliche as all balls(asylum and human experiments), the plot is surprisingly intriguing for a horror game, and keeps you wishing for more as you progress. In fact, curiosity is one of the greatest tools that will help you push yourself through all of the tension and scares. And the scares you will get, believe me. The    Simply put - the greatest horror in a while.

    Whilst the setting is cliche as all balls(asylum and human experiments), the plot is surprisingly intriguing for a horror game, and keeps you wishing for more as you progress. In fact, curiosity is one of the greatest tools that will help you push yourself through all of the tension and scares.

    And the scares you will get, believe me. The game is perfectly balanced between jump scares and psychological horror, the onset and decline is comfortable and really does deliver. Not too much blatant scares, not too long/short tension periods. The only thing I'd wish is more bosses, but this is not a huge complain.

    The graphics are good enough and the atmosphere is set really well. From dark gruesome wards to cold bloody labs - you will feel that you're really there. Kudos to level designers - they did it great.

    A real strength of the game are it's sounds - voice acting, ambiance, screams - everything is fits perfectly and allows for more immersion.

    This game leaves you wishing for more things like that, I wasn't disappointed.    … Expand

    Siguiendo el legado de amnesia, este juego va por esa onda, con puzzles no muy complicados de resolver pero que necesitan ser ejecutados con un poco de precisión. No aporta mucho de nuevo, pero la historia es atrapante.

    This is scary horror . Outlast often compare with Five Night At Freddys Series and Slender Series , I think about Outlast better than FNAF series , but worse than Slender Series ( Special Slender The Arrival ) and Outlast one of the scariest horrors in the moments and in Outlast very awesome graphics for fan game

    Outlast is an enjoyable haunted house ride with a great atmosphere full of dread and some intense moments. This hide'n seek subgenre of horror games isn't really my cup of tea, but I'd recommend getting this game around Halloween. Either you play it alone or (preferrably) with a few friends it sure will give you some decent thrills and fun jumpscares.

    Outlast is a successful game which shows great scares and amazing graphics. The night vision effect is well done with a good atmosphere and a interesting story. Although, it is a bit short, about 4 hours in total which I think is how long this game should be, otherwise, it will be really repetitive. I would give this a 8/10.

    Outlast has this tendency to get you in it's atmosphere and the second later ruin it completely, you struggle to from one place to the other, but there's no real sensation of doing anything at all, you're just running and hiding, constantly.

    I'm not saying that you need to fight back or be provided with a weapon, just let the game tell it's story and show how scary it is, if I'm running    Outlast has this tendency to get you in it's atmosphere and the second later ruin it completely, you struggle to from one place to the other, but there's no real sensation of doing anything at all, you're just running and hiding, constantly.

    Its a really good game. The problem is that the game is scary at first but after you keep facing the same enemies you cant feel scared by them anymore. Another problem with this game is that after a while it becomes jumpscare simulator and i think thats not horror and its just cheap.

    This game is with no doubt my favorite horror game. I've played the main story 4 times now, and I still love it. I've also played the DLC once and I'm probably going to play it many more times. The atmosphere in the game is amazing. The graphics and overall look are absolutely outstanding. In addition, I love the storyline.     Graphics are not the best and the story line can get kind of boring, but it's still one of the scariest and best games I've ever played. There's fast and intense moments as well as scary and nervous moments as well.

    Outlast is a great horror game that channels Amnesia: The Dark Descent to some extent but has its own unique surprises that makes one skin crawl better than what others can deliver. The lone asylum in the mountains, the inhumane experiments, monstrosities roaming the dark hallways - we've all seen it before. Developer Red Barrels twist and turns that familiar formula in such a way whichOutlast is a great horror game that channels Amnesia: The Dark Descent to some extent but has its own unique surprises that makes one skin crawl better than what others can deliver. The lone asylum in the mountains, the inhumane experiments, monstrosities roaming the dark hallways - we've all seen it before. Developer Red Barrels twist and turns that familiar formula in such a way which will make you unwillingly drop your guard and submit to the terrifying experience that they've crafted. It's definitely one of the best and prettiest indie games out there and you'll find its tense atmosphere rivaling the biggest horror franchises in the industry.

The game is based a lot around strategy, but tasks can be extremely repetitive. After a while, game play can get boring. The night vision effect is outstanding, and the atmosphere created is amazing.     Very good game of the horror genre. With a good story and a graphic look. Survival and puzzle solving not too complex is what it offers in terms of gameplay. A good match for the feeling of fear using the night vision camera.

    Outlast nie zawiódł pokładanych w nim nadziei i okazał się świetną, wciągającą i przyprawiającą o ciarki na plecach grą, która dosłownie nie pozwala oderwać się od monitora. Spędziłem przy nim niezapomniane 4 godziny i mam szczerą nadzieję, że twórcy już pracują nad kontynuacją. Z plusów gry warto wymienić chociażby niesamowity klimat i koncepcję wizualną etapów, gra potrafi równieżOutlast nie zawiódł pokładanych w nim nadziei i okazał się świetną, wciągającą i przyprawiającą o ciarki na plecach grą, która dosłownie nie pozwala oderwać się od monitora. Spędziłem przy nim niezapomniane 4 godziny i mam szczerą nadzieję, że twórcy już pracują nad kontynuacją. Z plusów gry warto wymienić chociażby niesamowity klimat i koncepcję wizualną etapów, gra potrafi również porządnie wystraszyć (zwłaszcza grając w nocy z założonymi słuchawkami^^). Jeśli chodzi o minusy to można by „przyczepić się” się do czasu poświęconego na jej ukończenie (chciałoby się grać zdecydowanie dłużej!) oraz do powtarzalności niektórych elementów rozgrywki (w stylu znajdź jakiś przedmiot, dźwignie, przełącznik itp.). Nie zmienia to jednak faktu, że jest to jedna z lepszych produkcji, w jakie miałem przyjemność zagrać w tym roku - i po prostu nie można przejść obok niej obojętnie. Jest również dowodem na to, jak dobra realizacja i prosta, lecz wciągająca rozgrywka mogą stać się przepisem na sukces…

    + koncepcja wizualna etapów
    + realizm otoczenia
    + stopniowe odkrywanie elementów fabuły
    + reakcje głównego bohatera

    – długość gry (4h to trochę za krótko)
    – powtarzalność niektórych elementów rozgrywki
    – zostawia pewien niedosyt!

    Veamos por donde empiezo... meh da flojera, ire directamente al grano.
    LA jugabilidad es buena, la musica de cuando te persiguen o detectan es bueno te pone nervioso por que no te atrapen, el uso de la camara es vital en el juego como para ver en la oscuridad para ver mas lejos también.
    Pero a mi lo que mas me arruino la experiencia no fue la ambientación ni nada de eso, como que me bajo    Veamos por donde empiezo... meh da flojera, ire directamente al grano.

In this game you can explore dark corners of human minds and watch how easy people turn into monsters. At the beginning of the game you are driven by the urge to stop whatever is going on in Mount Massive, but… What will become of you if you stay there long enough? If you want to delve into this madness, you should be ready to accept its rules and live by them: hide and run for your life. Even though Outlast is not that long (up to 4 or 5 hours), it will tickle your nerves with ominous music and the sense of the coming troubles. You’d better stay sharp – you never know when the abyss will stare back at you.… Expand

    Not a bad game. A lot of blood, guts and even genital organs. At the game's beginning much scares, but later the game is becoming fun for me. Just got used to the situation. Despite this, Outlast is a good survival horror. Miles Apsher's adventure was unforgettable.

    If you haven't played this game you should go and buy it on G2A 0.81 euros .
    It's a thrilling adventure that will give you chills and a lot of nightmares.

    Бегать и прятаться от глупых ботов страшно может быть только ребенку. Типичный инди хоррор, который удачно раскрутился. В целом разработчики сделали неплохой продукт, но не фееричный.
    Возможно попадание произошло из-за малого количества игр, которые дают ощущение полной слабости и беззащитности. Точно говорить не скажу такой статистики не знаю. Продукт на любителя.    Она не страшная.

    Terrorífico. Realmente pasé miedo, y hubo momentos en que me pude sentir el latir del corazón. Muy bien diseñado, la única pega que podría verle es que a veces se siente demasiado pasillero, aunque no es algo en lo que me estuviese fijando mucho mientras sudaba de la tensión. Muy satisfecho de que apenas haya jumpscares, pues no los necesita para provocar miedo real. Recomendado.

    Outlast is absolutely one of the best horror games in the current generation of gaming (2012-2020). I advise prospective players to take your time and really experience the creepy atmosphere. The feelings of dread and sheer terror are very well established from the moment you step in to the psychiatric hospital. The developers were able to do SO MUCH with relatively few resources.

That made me lose the respect of the enemies pretty early on and all of a sudden it wasn't that much of a scary threat anymore but rather just another enemy that I tried to learn the AI of and just run away and win.

That made me lose the respect of the enemies pretty early on and all of a sudden it wasn't that much of a scary threat anymore but rather just another enemy that I tried to learn the AI of and just run away and win.

    Compare this to Amnesia the Dark Descent for example where the game doesn't throw 1000 zombies at you the first hour so you're always on your toes and afraid to open doors etc because you really don't wanna encounter anything. I prefer that type of survival horror.

    Not very scary, game feels to gamey. Enemies walk in a very strict pathway and it's not very human like. Also the game mechanics are not very well thought out. You miss exposition if you don't have your camera out but it's very annoying to keep out. Even the ending is gimmicky and cheap as hell, worst ending to a game I've maybe ever played. Without spoilers the camera pans away that way they didn't have to animate an actual ending. The rhythm is varied and always reflects the tension going crescendo. The camera, batteries and flashlight mechanics are brilliant. Environments are varied.     Guys sorry but, this is not a horror game. In a horror game, we should defend ourselves, we should destroy something, crash gates, but in this game, it seems like makers didn't strive too much. Sorry but Outlast was a disappointment for me. At least, you could tell us, your character is stroke.

    Игра для тех кто хочет пощекотать свои нервы плутая по заброшенной психбольнице. Как "выживач" аутласт совсем не работает, однако как "комната страха" где тебя водят по разным пугалкам, сделана очень качественно.

    El juego dura poco, pero es tan bueno que se te hace eterno. En su momento el juego tenía unos gráficos que estaban genial. Los escenarios están muy elaborados (es una pena que te tengas que pasar el juego mirando la cámara y eso no te deja apreciar los escenarios tanto como me gustaría).

    While not as good as amnesia this game is really effective as a horror game and it fits in well with the handheld tape recorder mechanics. Definitely worth checking out for fans of the genre

It's essentially a disturbing walking simulator with a little Tom & Jerry and Where's Waldo thrown in. You either walk around admiring the scenery through the hellish maze like design of the looney bin while looking for a needle in a hay stack key orDisturbing imagery. Disappointing game. Some people call this survival-horror, but it isn't survival-horror at all. It's walking sim- horror. It's essentially a disturbing walking simulator with a little Tom & Jerry and Where's Waldo thrown in. You either walk around admiring the scenery through the hellish maze like design of the looney bin while looking for a needle in a hay stack key or switch, or you do so while being chased by a tiny number of different enemy types. Small inmate, big inmate, later the walrider (a spooky ghost thing). The problem is, it's bad enough to figure out where you're supposed to go in the first place, and even more frustrating when the enemies are on your ass. It's not fun replaying the same segment for an hour, dying and restarting, because the game gives you no indication of where to look while the enemies can catch up to you and kill you in two seconds. Unless Where's Waldo combined with Pacman only no power pellets set in confusing 3D mazes that you can't make heads or tails of sounds like fun to you, you're probably better off watching the game instead of actually playing it. The engine and graphics are great. If they made an actual survival horror instead of a walking sim, it could've been great.… Expand

    To start off the game is absolutely beautiful, even today it still holds up but it was even more gorgeous when it came out back in 2013. That setting being an asylum, that you're trying to escape from.
    The techniques that are used to scare you in the game are pretty clever, despite some cheap scares here and there like jumpscares which I'm not the biggest fan of, the game does do clever things to make players fell uneasy. Most of the horror of Outlast is shock and gore, this is probably one of the most disgusting games I've ever played, which is not a bad thing considering the setting of the game. Blood, guts and human remains are everywhere, like on the walls and floor. So if you have a weak stomach for such things then don't play this game. Many disturbing and shocking things happen to the protagonist as you make your way through the asylum, things that I can't mention because of spoilers. Since this is a horror game, you can expect some chase sequences and moments when you're in danger, and they make these scenes so intense and scary, and what helps tremendously with making these scenes so intense is the amazing soundtrack playing in the background. One more thing that I was quite disappointed by is the length, the game is only about 5 hours and I wish it were a bit longer.
    Don't expect an extremely complex story, the story is very straightforward and easy to follow. Which could be a good thing for some people, and bad for others. I sit kinda in the middle, I don't mind a simple story especially for this kinda game, but it wouldn't upset me if they did make a good complex story.
    To sum up, Outlast is a game that does not pull its punches, you will constantly feel uneasy and unsafe, and this is done with amazing atmosphere, intense sequences and shock factor. It's a horror blast from beginning to end, and I would highly recommend this game for people that love the horror genre.

The only game that does it better than this game - when it comes to being a scary horror game - is alien issolation. Yet this game is more relateable, showing you the dark nature of human as horror.     I started it in 2018 but then stopped because I wasn't prepared. In 2020 one night decided to clear it. Did it in one night sitting. This game is amazing. One of the best horror games I have ever played.

    Played the game in 2020 after finishing the second game and it was still horrifying and fun! Independent of the graphics, which is not bad at all still, this game gives you a steady adrenaline pump in each second you play. 100/100 for a 2013 game.

    This is one of the few truly scary horror games
    Instead of giving you a weapon or a way to fight the "bad guys" the game puts you in a situation where you can just hide and outsmart the patients
    Personally i never felt so "alive" ( ironically) while playing an horror game and i think that's what defines OUtlast, the true horror

Я неожиданно понял, что у меня есть здоровье, и меня надо ударить более 2-3Я люблю стелс игры и хорроры, но я не люблю когда в игре нет оружия. Вспоминая амнезию где оружия так же нет, меня игра цепляла атмосферой. Тут атмосферы загадочности нет. Тут атмосфера - за следующим углом или надо бежать или нет. По началу меня выбесило, что почти всю игру надо тупо бегать. Но дальше было хуже. Я неожиданно понял, что у меня есть здоровье, и меня надо ударить более 2-3 раз чтобы я сдох. И тут у меня пропало ощущение страха. Ну типа, если хп регенится, в игре надо вечно бегать, то ритм атмосферы поймать сложно. В итоге я превратился в бегающего бестрашного зайца на уровнях, который просто пропрыгал всю игру и вообще толком не прятался. Хз зачем тут прятаться вообще. Игра меня до жути разочаровала.     This game can seem difficult in certain areas, but remember that timing is everything. There are a couple of times that you will be taking damage, so be patient and make use of hiding places.     From everything I experienced from this game it was alright from the enemies, to the areas to the atmosphere and barely any glitches it seems like Red Barrels really put a lot of love and effort into they're game. The game really pumps you up during it's chase sequences all out great game. :)

    The Good: - The introduction to the game is very eerie. Insane patients all mangled in wheel chairs, and a bunch of them sitting there watching a static screen. With an impaled swat guy telling you to turn back. All of this gives you a sense of how **** you are about to be - The sounds and music amp up at the perfect time. Scary when it needs to be, quiet    Tension, paranoia, fear.

    The Good:

    - The sounds and music amp up at the perfect time. Scary when it needs to be, quiet when it needs to be.

    - The use of night vision on the camera is a great idea for a horror game. I'm sure this isn't the first time it's done, but probably the first time it's required throughout the game. But either way, it was very well implemented. Kept the creepy vibe throughout the game. There were many times where I was genuinely scared to take another step because I was scared what I might see in the dark.

    - There is a lot of gore in Outlast. But it's a right amount. It's not overdone, and it makes sense to the plot, and the setting. Experiments gone wrong in an insane asylum.

    - The enemies varied, and they places where they put cutscenes were clever. It scared me and progressed the plot in a tense fashion.

    - Random inmates you couldn't interact with would do weird insane things throughout the game that you'd just see while strolling around. This helped make the atmosphere of an insane asylum more believable.

    - The final chapter and the Walrider revelation was a nice surprise.

    The Bad:

    - The AI of the enemies can be quite predictable once you learn where they can't go. They don't follow you if you climb a ladder, go into vents. or squeeze through cracks. They treat you as if you just disappeared whenever you take one of those actions. Once you learn this, escaping them is pretty easy.

    - Not knowing whether doors opened forwards or backwards made it a bit awkward sometimes when I wanted to open one slowly.

    - There weren't many interesting stealth strategies the game allows you to use. Staying out of site is the name of the game. If you're spotted just keep sprinting away and finding a route, and they'll never catch up to you. Only if you hit a dead end will you have to take damage. As long as you remember the area, you can easily avoid damage.    … Expand

Главный персонаж- тупее, тупых. Вообще не ясна мотивация главного героя. Ждал большего, а сама игра оказалась простым хоррором, с клише. Но все равно, разок поиграть стоит.     A great game for its time, yet something was still missing in it, it had much more potential. The story was decent and so was the gameplay. A game you can play several times and enjoy it, yet I can't consider one of the best horror games. In reality, it was just a good game in a time where every horror game was super mediocre

    Outlast is the best example of struggle a human can give in life.
    But the only problem is that Outlast and Whistleblower get into a vicious circle. In other words, the game loops like take key, hide and run.
    Apart from that, the cutscenes are wonderfully designed.

    Still the scariest horror game I've played. All aspects of the place in the mental hospital are very creepy equipped with an infrared camera with a battery that can run out, really fresh gameplay

    Loved it, it leans a bit too much on the use of scarejumps sometimes but the atmosphere, context and story still sold me completely on it. Played it with a friend by alternating who has the controller and it was both fun to watch and play. Would scream again.

    Horror con una buona tensione, in cui possiamo solo scappare dai nemici e nasconderci.
    Buona l'idea di dover far luce con la torcia (in questo caso una videocamera). Idea che aumenta il senso di claustrofobia e smarrimento.
    Meccaniche di gioco limitate, e gioco che dura giustamente poco per non diventare ripetitivo.

    I will begin with the main game and then share my thoughts about the DLC as well.

    Let me start by saying that I have been a fan of the franchise since 2013, Outlast is the game that got me into gaming and the horror genre at a young age, and I am so grateful to have this game be the reason I fell in love with games as a whole.
    From stunning visuals, sound design, and gameplay to the profound lore and disgusting, gory environments and characters, this game has it all, or may I say experience, since once you start playing, you forget what reality is. You simply get involved in all the hell-like stuff this experience has ready for you.
    Let me be honest and tell you that this is NOT Amnesia. You are not here to solve puzzles; you are here to run, hide or die.
    Every second feels like it might be the last as the game never lets you get a breath from the constant chases and eerie music blasting in your ears.
    Outlast is simply an experience that you MUST go through if you call yourself a horror genre fan. There isn't, and probably never will be, a game that does what Outlast 1 did when it comes to horror; it's simply that unique and different from all the junk we've seen through the years. No technical improvements and shiny marketing can beat something that Red Barrels developed with love and passion.
    I simply can't find something that will even get CLOSE to the polish that this game has for an indie game from 2013; of course, the game has its issues, but it's nothing major or easy to find if you are simply here for the experience and don't start poking your nose around.
    I don't want to go in-depth with the problems the game has because, as I already stated, they are such easy to ignore things that I doubt many people will even notice.
    Overall this is an experience that I will never forget and get bored of. I can play this game again and again and enjoy it every single time, and even after hundreds of hours spent consuming content for this game and playing it for myself, the end credits still make me cry with joy every time. I love this game and the people that made it.

    Now, the DLC. Outlast Whistleblower -

    Everything I said for the main game applies to this too. Outlast Whistleblower is not a DLC; Outlast Whistleblower is a different product.
    Set in the same environment as the first one, with the events happening a little earlier than the ones in the main game, this does not feel like the typical DLC you would get with your regular AAA games nowadays. This is arguably a scarier and even grosser experience, filled with new places to visit in the Asylum and new bone-chilling characters to meet.
    You're going to like Eddie ;)
    There is nothing more I can say for the DLC as it's simply a whole new experience in the same universe with the same feel and looks. It's more Outlast 1, but better at times.

    It probably wasn't hard to see how much of a fan I am for this game, but trust me, I am hard to be satisfied, so when I tell you this game can not be beaten 'till today, I am not lying. Outlast is something that I will always keep sincerely in my heart. I love it.

    This game is very addictive, no matter how many scares it gave me, I wanted to keep playing it. The photography and the setting are quite shady and that's good, although in some places the atmosphere is too dark for the gameplay.

    Jumpscares, gore horror, never really getting a break and feelings of wanting to escape are what you feel this whole game through, though, it does sometimes get repetitive, luckily the game ends right about the time where it hits that.

    A game that is not as innovative as you would hope. It is very old school. Nevertheless, this is a real horror-game and we can guarantee that you will freak out. It may be old school, but it is still a very good game that will blow you away.
