The game offers what you don't find often on the market, a survival game that doesn't involve zombies or monsters of one kind or another.
It's a blend of survival, hunting and exploration with some story to prop it up, doing okay in all but excelling in none.
The bad: Rough release, lots of bugs. The good: Even with all the bugs and mediocre voice acting, I found the world fun to

    The good:
Even with all the bugs and mediocre voice acting, I found the world fun to explore (once I figured out how to take care of hunger/thirst/energy, and not get sick).
The developers seem very active and open to suggestions.

This game is currently in a rough state, that said, it offers a lot of what I've wanted for a long time now, a game that offers casual survival and some stuff to do and explore/find. I'm looking forward to how this game will evolve.

The concept behind Open Country is solid enough. A more relaxed hunting and survival simulator in a traditional game structure has an audience: those who feel that hunting games are too vague for newcomers. While some of the quirky bits can be forgiven, the busted hunting mechanics and the dated presentation bring everything crashing down. Unless you're the very forgiving and patient type, pass on this title.

A brave outdoor life simulator in which you have to explore, hunt, and carry out repetitive tasks and missions completely devoid of appeal. The result is a game that is beautiful to look at (for its price) but rather boring to play; only recommended to the most motivated players.

Open Country offers a lot of contents for a very low cost. Hunting, fishing and quad racing, all immersed in an unspoiled setting in the wilderness. If you are looking for freedom and some healthy competition this is the title you are looking for.
