"good" for its time but that's it, let it die, if the servers don't close it's because there are people who are still playing it 10 years later, at least they can improve the game, or not?

No other game has succeeded to keep my attention for this long as OSRS. I'm really looking forward to PVP content after watching some community made steams/gameplay. This is also a selling point of the game; the community is producing a lot of content to keep you entertained and learning more even after you quit the game.

Got handed 500+ K from multiple strangers while I was stolling

Got handed 500+ K from multiple strangers while I was stolling around. Very wholesome community. I got in a very active Dutch clan and time flies by. Some music and OSRS.

The game has this nostalgia essence from back in the day when I was a kid. My ego got crushed after taking my new rune scimitar to the Wildy and losing it in a heartbeat, but besides that had a blast when I was young. But now I play the game with Lean Sigma and it is funny to see that you progress to the game so much faster, given the fact if you played runescape or not (and if the child inside you is still there or not). If you have imposter syndrome and are climbing the corporate ladder, play runescape instead; there your hard-learned skills about efficiency and pragmatism are rewarded with in game progress. Instead of another ratio on a spreadsheet, you have a higher level in your runescape skills, which you can employ to hunt random people on the internet from the same desk where you do all your other purposeless activities from. Better play runescape instead. In short, a great game for people who have adopted the late Anglo-Saxon philosophy.

Let runescape disassociate you. It is not drugs; it's just a game!

p.s. there updates are voted on democratically so the game is yet conservative and yet democratic. Everyone is welcome since OSRS makes the political system implode on itself. This is the workings of a 20+ year old MMO. Hat's off.

Between 2004 and 2009, I poured 5000 hours into runescape. Between 2018 and 2022, I poured another 2000 into Old School Runescape. It is not an objectively good game. The gameplay is typically very mindless, and even the more engaging gameplay elements are very clunky. Despite this, I can see myself putting hundreds if not thousands of more hours into OSRS in the future.
    I will keep

I will keep coming back to this game for 3 primary reasons.
    1. Nostalgia
    2. The feeling of slowly accomplishing short and long term goals that feel meaningful in terms of
    account unlocks.
    3. I love consuming other content while playing games, and Runescape's mindless nature
makes it perfect for this type of play.

If you did not play as a child, or you don't like to focus on other content while gaming, this game is very likely not for you. If you did play as a kid, and managed to get away, I would recommend not coming back. The game is addicting and undoubtedly bad....nostalgia is quite the drug.

Dare I say, this may be the best MMO ever made. There is always so much and something to do while the questing is second to none.

Very fun game, but a LOT is locked behind a paywall, which just gets rid of the fun.

You just go and play until you have to pay.

One of the only MMOs on the market that holds true to tenets of MMO design. Old School RuneScape has enough content to keep you hooked for decades. From PvP to PvE to RP this game has it all. Plus the community is just amazing and the meme culture is top tier.

Old School RuneScape is a massive but compelling time sink, and even after all these years, there's simply nothing else like it.
