Life support is so strenuous on Io that Mars will look like a paradise in comparison. Two brand new factions have joined the corporate world on Io where the new resource system offers a steep learning curve. There are plenty of new sources for power, but some of humanity’s basic essentials - like water - don’t exist.     Jupiter's Forge expands on Offworld Trading Company, taking you to Jupiter's moon, Io. With this new area comes two new factions, a range of new buildings and a whole new way in how to manage resources. Io is a dry planet, there is no water to pump and the game will challenge you in a way that makes it feel fresh.

    There is a certain portion of the gaming population who want a more complex experience, which this expansion certainly adds, but I’m not convinced it adds depth to the gameplay in equal measure. If you are itching to go back out into the void and stake another claim this expansion will give you more of the content you want. However, if the core game didn’t win you over, Jupiter’s Forge isn’t likely to prompt further investment.

    Jupiter’s Forge is an intimidating economic battleground. That's entirely intentional. Don’t come here waving your old strategies around; they won’t gain much traction. Only veterans need apply to this meaty, punishing DLC.
