Night Cry is a love-letter to the good old days of low-budget Japanese horror titles.

Night Cry will be frustrating to modern gamers. Having to navigate the unresponsive point and click movement... or your character constantly slipping while being chased by the Scissor-Man. These may seem like every reason not to get this game, but there's a charm behind these annoying mechanics.
It brings back memories of playing Clock Tower: Ghost Mask on my PS1, or enduring the creepy vibes of Fatal Frame.

If you enjoy novelty train-wrecks like Deadly Premonition, you should give this game a go. Overall there's no way to give Night Cry a balanced review.. it's either you love it cause it brings back memories, or hate it cause the game lives with its flaws.

I loved this train-wreck of a game so I'm going to give it a 9.

NightCry is confusing mess of a game that nevertheless manages to provide a bit of schlocky B movie horror fun, particularly for those with fond memories of Clock Tower.

I can't recommend anyone play NightCry unless you have a steel resolve, unlimited time on your hands, and a penchant for terrible physics and animations straight out of the PS2 era.

Your enjoyment of NightCry is going to depend a lot on your perspective, which is why I suspect this is going to be one of the most divisive horror games since Deadly Premonition. To judge NightCry at face value would be to grossly overlook all the work that Nude Maker has done to create an authentic Clock Tower-style, classic stalker horror experience for the modern day. You’re going to have to look past the game’s often ugly exterior to see the beauty behind every design choice, every camera angle and every mindblowing plot twist, and you’re going to need to be a horror fan who isn’t spoiled on the modern trends of jump scares and instant gratification.
