    In 1995 NHL Powerplay 96 was easy the best hockey game on the PS1. The only competitor was NHL Face-off, which was a decent title, however Powerplay 96 really took advantage of the PS1 capabilities. Unlike the Sprite based graphics of the Face-off game, Powerplay was fully 3D. It is also the first hockey game on the PS1 to have national teams.
