    A much needed update for a beloved classic. Some things are still being improved, and new modules are being actively developed. Amazing stuff.

    Pretty cool game, though you realize it's pretty "old-school" and at the beginning of a long line of advancements. Some things you can always do, but it only makes sense if you have previously triggered the quest, otherwise it may not be feasible anymore.     This is one of the first games that I started making my own modifications and additions to the game. I enjoyed the game thoroughly and would create extra gameplay for my friends and myself. The fun things you can do with modifying your own game is just about limitless, when the game is made as well as Neverwinter.

    I've played the original Neverwinter Nights, and NWN Diamond, and I can solidly say that this is the most definitive way to play this game. With all the updates and the premium modules published by Beamdog since release (with even more coming), this is one of the best games out there.

    A lot of the angry comments* are from the pre-updated version, and since then the game has improved exponentially. The improved graphics, quality of life changes, balancing, and patches make this version truly the 'Enhanced Edition' it claims to be.

    You can buy the deluxe package from Steam that includes every premium module and DLC, and it is absolutely worth it. These modules are quality games and can last you up to 80 hours.

    The original campaign by itself is nothing to boast about, but it gets you used to the mechanics and rules of the game. It's still a fun ride, and 100% worth playing, especially if you're wanting to play Neverwinter Nights 2. The base game also comes with the original DLC modules as well. Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark are phenomenal, and I think every RPG fan should play the latter at least once.

    I haven't even mentioned the best part yet, though. The community support for this game is off the charts. Not only does it support every player made module for the original game, but there are a TONNE of new ones being made, since it's so easy to create in the streamlined system of the Enhanced Edition. You will have so much quality content in this game existing already that will last you for over a thousand hours, and no doubt even more in the future (and more premium modules).

    Look. Get this game. Do keep in mind, however, that it is old. It looks old and it plays old, but that doesn't make it a worse game because of it. It runs smoothly and Beamdog has done a fantastic job of making it more accessible to newer audiences. I'm giving Neverwinter Nights EE a 10/10. Buy it on PC.

    *This was also post-Siege of Dragonspear, a DLC Beamdog released for the EE of Baldur's Gate, and it received a lot criticism for including a transgender character (that wasn't a prominent character, and there was even a gross mod that removed her from the game) and people were, to put it lightly, a bit mad at Beamdog.     Why don't people do research before they buy? Not once did Beamdog say the HD graphics will be included at launch it will come later.
    Anyway, I knew what I was buying when I bought it and it is great fun.

    This is the best game I've ever played and it's been dying since gamespy support was cut, making it extremely annoying to find servers. With renewed support, the best game ever lives again.

Baldur's Gate I, II, Dark Alliance I/II, KotOR I and II, The Oddworld games, the Jedi Knight games, you name it. I also ended up replaying the original NWN games (with the two main expansions) on my mac. I finished right around the time this game came out and, out of love for the franchise, bought it on steam. Because I have replayed the original unenhanced version of NWN, it was fresh in my mind and I will be comparing it to the enhanced edition.

    First off, the enhanced edition has some serious problems. In order for your game to look appealing at all, you have to disable Vibrance and Ambient occlusion, and then it essentially looks like the old game. It runs a lot slower than the original edition that I have, but I do believe this is because the enhanced edition is built off of the NWN Diamond Edition of Neverwinter Nights, which I remember having serious frame rate issues back in the day.

    The game has little to no changes that are actually good, aside from the fact that they added skyboxes and roofing, which would be a cool edition if it didn't mess with certain cinematic scenes in the process (Drogan's battle at the beginning of SotU, the rafters gets in the way of the scene).

    The game has all the content you remember and the multiplayer is back, which is awesome! I am so glad because I loved the NWN multiplayer back in the day, despite its flaws (and their are quite a few). They work, connection is fine. I personally haven't noticed many issues with it.

    I am using a mac to play the game and have the CEP mod installed, which is great, except for the fact that robes and cloaks/capes make me invisible. They don't render without updated Nvidia drivers, which sucks. I would have uninstalled it if not for the fact that I need it to play on specific community created modules, such as the Aeilund Saga. This isn't a slight on the game, however, as it is a problem with the mod itself. It's an issue I wanted to put out their if anyone was considering getting the game for mods such as Aeilund.

    The game has problems, glitches, more bugs than the original game and that is a problem. This is a REMASTERED game, so why is it worse?!?! Running out of space, so I'm gonna leave it at that.

    I had REALLY HIGH hopes for the studio developing the game, Beamdog, who is founded and headed by BioWare's former co-founder Trent Oster. As most of you probably know, Beadog has performed HORRIBLY! It sucks because I really want to like them and support the enhanced versions of the games they are making; I love Baldur's Gate, I love Neverwinter Nights, and I am hoping they might do something similar with the KotOR games, but they seem to have been half-assing these "enhanced editions" simply to milk the money off of gamers who are fed up with this insufferable modern day, "Triple A" gaming market that continuously makes sub-par games riddled with bugs, glitches, and worst of all, microtransactions and lootboxes. Beamdog's "enhancements" have only made the games worse! It doesn't hep that Beamdog is injecting SJW themes into these games we love (Siege of Dragonspeare, the Baldur's Gate expansion I never thought I would get, is riddled with SJW messages!)
    I WANT Beamdog to succeed! I WANT to like them, but how can I when they make these sub-par remastered games!

    In my opinion, if you are as fed up with the gaming market as I have been, I would highly recommend going back to your old games and playing the hell out of them. Get your 360 out, your PS3, and play some genuinely good games. If you want to play NWN, I recommend playing the original version over this one. BUT... if you want to get back into the multiplayer setting of NWN, you will need to get the Enhanced Edition since Gamespy, the company who was powering the multiplayer servers, shutdown. I am really loving the MP setting and I got my friends into it recently, which is awesome! I have 90 hours played on it right now, and I plan on playing more. But I could have just as easily done so on the original version.

    If you, by chance, no longer have your old copy of NWN, I would actually recommend getting this game instead of rebuying the older versions, primarily because NWN EE is cheaper ($19.99). Just disable Vibrance and Ambient Occlusion in the video settings, get the necessary mods, do what you can to keep it running, and you might as well be playing a slightly worse version of the original thing.

    In terms of content, this would have been a 7/10 (Good, by my standard), but considering this is a remaster of the original thing, one of the worst remasters I have ever played, I have to give it a 4 (Sub-Par). It's NWN, you know what to expect, but it IS objectively worse than the original version.    … Expand

    They basically just prepackaged some mods you could install yourself for free. The original version is available on GoG for much cheaper. I gave it a 1 and not a 0 because it's worth it if you're really lazy.

    Had much potential alot of content yet half baked and the other half a cash grab should have been a remastered version but greediness wins a very good game if free or very very low price.

    The biggest selling point, the HD graphics, ISN'T EVEN INCLUDED.

    So it has almost no new features, and it looks terrible. You're basically paying for an Early Access game here, and it's shameful. Shame on you, Beamdog, shame.

    I'm not sure why they didn't wait with release until they have all the reworked HD player models done. I'm not sure why they opted to release a lot of enhanced stuff like HD models to Steam Workshop instead of having them in the game by default (and maybe just adding the old ones to the workshop if they really wanted to have them as an option). It will obviously cause a backlash because a lot of customers won't notice the difference between EE and old Diamond Edition. It will obviously make some angry people call Beamdog "leeches of the industry" again.

    Never buy Beamdog garbage. All they do is break anything they touch. EE editions has never been better than the original EVER its just a cash grab!. Throw in the agenda they are trying to push and you have 100% garbage

    Can't go wrong with an enhanced version that unlocks more stuff for modders to play around with. It's not for everyone, but i can't wait to see what new stuff the community comes out in the coming months

The original is a great game, but you are 100% better off getting the old Diamond edition because all mods work with it and those mods are literally 100% better than any content Beamdog added to the game in the enhanced edition. Seriously, you are basically shooting yourself in the foot by getting the enhanced edition, so dont do it. You can get the diamond edition easilyZero points here.     The problem here is that Beamdogs added absolutely nothing worth buying. Literally nothing. The old game ran in 1080p just fine and I was even able to use it in windowed mode by just adding -w to my shortcut. They did not even add windowed mode to the game. As for gameplay, no changes whatsoever. Still no natural spell, still no fixes for many spells both arcane and divine, still no fixes for quests like how the snake lady keeps talking to you through undead even after you killed her. Not even a new game mode nor any easy way to make a custom NPC in game... and oh yea, according to the forums, they introduced new bugs. Pathetic.

    I have played well over 200 from Neverwinter NIghts and I absolutely love this enhanced edition. Currently I am playing Tyrants of the Moonsea by Ossian Studios and it is a MAGNIFICIENT Story completely inline with all of the other great Forgotten Realms Tales. 10 out of 10

    Highly recommend getting this along with Darkness over Daggerford and Tyrants of the Moonsea DLC's by Ossian Studios

The gameplay, story, dice rolls, stats, classes, etc. are direct game interpretations of the D&D board games, problem is they left you to be the Dungeon Master, almost that is. It is a simple main story, I remember the beginning much more than the ending, which normally it's not a good sign, I got invested in the beginning, the game pulled me in, but the more answers I got the less interested I was, it wasn't a bad experience, but can't say I was overjoyed at the end.
    Most quest are simple quests, inside a non linear wide location with linear maps.
    The biggest problem is the amount of traps and locked chests and doors, if you don't like a rogue class you will need the only rogue companion in the game and you can only choose one, this makes the others non viable which in turn makes the replayability almost non existent, with the exception of going through everything again but with a different class.
    The DLCs expand a lot in enjoyment and story wise, and adds new classes, the graphics are better, the ingame cutscenes too, it's like the devs had finally figured out the engine and could flex a little bit.

    Gameplay is very troublesome and the newly updated version has optimization issues. Game stutters all the time for no reason. It's not a game that everyone can go to the end of the game and endure. Story is interesting but you have to work very hard to see it. But when the gameplay is this difficult, you're not sure if it's worth the effort.

    Neverwinter is still a solid game (especially the Hordes of the Underdark expansion is worth the time) but it was remastered so slightly that the originally hideous game became merely ugly. [06/2018, p.50]
