    Having played the demo for this, I was totally blown away. I decided to buy the full game right away. Tight control, gorgeous stages, sweet rides, and most importantly: THE CAR'S ENGINES SOUND GOOD AGAIN. (like they used to back in NFS5!) Floor it and hear the now-turboed 350Z roar, let off the gas to hear the blow-off valve release it's pent-up air.     Excelent game.The only thing that I miss in the game is Drag racing in online mode...Great work EA!!!

    I have it now on the pc the full version not the demo and it's great ( i download it ) i am living in europa so it;s not out yet but i have it ! really joy !!

    Everything about this game is great. I just wished that it is a little bit realistic in the result of colliding cars, crashed and destroyed cars. But, it's still great.

    I have started this game again after years. Even today, the game is sensational. Underground mode is not boring. Driving style is good, although crash physics (especially at higher speeds) makes cars fly. There is a lack of more cars, in the game there are mainly Asian cars. There is also no support widescreen. Generally i recommend playing even in 2017 year

    You are somewhat of an inexperienced driver who joins the underground street scene. You meet up with the beautiful, yet tough Samantha, who    Electronic Arts rules when it comes to making games like these. The music, the gameplay, the sound effects, and sometimes even the story. If you're interested in going very fast, and moving up the ranks faster than ever, then give this game a try.

    You are somewhat of an inexperienced driver who joins the underground street scene. You meet up with the beautiful, yet tough Samantha, who helps you through your first few races. You must buy and build up your car, and make it look cool so that you, the driver, are as cool and good as everyone who races.

    I have to say, i was blown out of the water by the soundtrack. Lil' Jon's "Get low" is pretty much the main song for this game, however, it's not an exclusive, like mistikal's "get faster" or Petey Pablo's "Need for speed". there's also good rock alternative music like Story of the year's "And the hero will drown", Static-X's "The only", X-ecutioner's "Body Rock" and Hotwire's "Invisible".

    It was the first game in the series. I played 10 years ago, I liked so much, but age did not let me finish it. At 8 years old I struggled a bit. The game throws you in Olympic City, a town of Street Racing community. This will start the fun.

    People like the fast and furious series but yet dislike this game. They need to do their home work to find the origin of the movies first.
    Totally awesome game, and I hope EA reinvent themselves on another one like this for the future

    The second best NFS game in history (first for me is NFS III HP).
    VIsuals, sound design, tuning and cars was outstanding at the time.
    Soundtrack is one of the best I ever heard in video game.

    The first Need For Speed game which has decent graphics and a good storyline. I think the progress system in this game is pretty slow you get to all Level 3 upgrades after playing more than 80% of the career mode which is kind of slow. Apart from that good gameplay but gets kind of repetitive and the overall size of the city is pretty small.     I loved this game when I was a kid, but when I went to play it now again, I see how it has SERIOUS flaws.

    The good parts: Control of the car is nice, the graphics were cool by the time being, and the car tuning is very varied and cool. There is a decent amount of cars to chose, and there was a sense of progression on the races, opponents keep getting better and better. The sounds are    I loved this game when I was a kid, but when I went to play it now again, I see how it has SERIOUS flaws.

    The good parts: Control of the car is nice, the graphics were cool by the time being, and the car tuning is very varied and cool. There is a decent amount of cars to chose, and there was a sense of progression on the races, opponents keep getting better and better. The sounds are really good and it has totally a "fast and furious" vibe.

    The bad parts: The worst part are the car crashes. It's absurd. The minimal hit will make your car go flying around, and it would be ok if the same happened to the AI, but the AI really CHEATS when there is a car crash. I saw an AI hitting a car on the front, and just went under it and kept going at full speed. It's very unfair, and most of the time you won't win or lose races by skill, but by pure luck, because cars appear out of nowhere just to hit you. Also, the game has a lot of glitches for those who try to play with a joystick, it keeps changing the controls and the camera shifts if you press brake for too long.
    Also, although there is a sense of progression while racing, there is no progression on cars. The car you get at the beginning of the game is better than most cars you unlock as you win races. And the tracks are VERY repetitive, you'll be running 111 races on the same tracks over and over again.
    Another bad thing is that you can only have one car. Which sucks, because there are some cars that are outstanding for races but suck at drifting.

    Overall, the game is only "meh". I was looking for nostalgia and got anger instead.    … Expand

    Would not recommend due to the fact that you do these long races and frequently at the very end some edge will clip you, or some car will appear in front of you, or one of the other racers will bump you, or some other random occurrence, causing you to have to redo the entire race. Then they randomly put cars in front of you and don't let you turn out of their way. You should never come away with a "god that was awful" feeling after winning a race.

    I'm giving this a 0 just for the drag races. It's unplayable on both a keyboard and a controller. I don't play games to get tortured. I play them to find enjoyment. I uninstalled this game before the end due this trash designed race.

    It also gives you lots of useless cars to choose from but no apparent reason to use any of them. You don't get better cars till late in the game.

    The ebrake basically does nothing, except for during drifting. In Underground 2 the ebrake is way more useful.

    Underground 2 I think is overall better, particularly as far as the cars, handling, gameplay, hud, etc.. Only thing better about this one is that the upgrades stick with your car when you trade it in.    … Expand

    Fun to play, it is the first time I played something after meeting the NFS series for the first time back in the 90's with older vehicles. This introduces a good assortment of popular vehicles and some good music tracks, it doesn't feel old even after a while.     The game that changed my life, literally !
    I had no interest in cars when i was about 6 years until my older brother brought me this game one night and i felt in love with it. After that i started my interest in cars. Long story short,because of NFS Underground my life changed for the best because of it i am building my dream career of becoming a car designer.

    I think it's the best racing game lately. Graphics are outstanding including flashes, blur and mirror like effect. All of that combined with advanced tuning capabilities both visual and internal gives us this esoteric game which is an absolutely "must have' for all racing and tuning fans all around the world.

    This is the best street racing game, I also race in real life, so this is closest pc game which imagine a real racing. Only difference between game and real racing on the streets is Adrenaline...

    NFS: Underground offers sweet graphics, good music and ok gameplay. However if you only have 20 bucks to spend pick up Midnight Club 2 instead. NFS:Underground lacks that title's drive anywhere gameplay, huge urban environments, take no prisoners opponent AI, damage modeling and replays.

    The problem with NFS Underground, which may not be a problem for many, is a "shift" the developers have gone for. And; it's a major one folks. NFS has always been a series about racing. When NFS 1 came out, it literally changed the genra. The point A to B tracks (Alpine, Coastal, etc.) and the closed tracks were simply "simulastic" (That's my word for fantastic + simulation -- The problem with NFS Underground, which may not be a problem for many, is a "shift" the developers have gone for. And; it's a major one folks. NFS has always been a series about racing. When NFS 1 came out, it literally changed the genra. The point A to B tracks (Alpine, Coastal, etc.) and the closed tracks were simply "simulastic" (That's my word for fantastic + simulation -- nice huh?). NFS 5, Porsche Unleashed was the next good game as such in the series. NFS kept drifting (no pun intended) towards an arcadish feel, and the latest game by them has completed the transition. Now don't get me wrong, it's a nice game... but it's hardly about racing. Incredible graphics, a lot of user options to "create" a ninja street machine... and then race it against the stereotyped under-world. Coming to the "racing", it's one large area which is always wet (to compliment the reflections), always shown at night, and always feels the same. This game just disappointed me.… Expand

GM is one of they biggest manufactors in the world, they deserve at least one car. I guess that would make the game to easy though. If you had the 454 chevell (as rapped about in one of the songs) there would be no car to be able to Its a great game and very fun. I only have 2 complaints.     Best racing game ever. I was never a big fan of racing games, but this game changed me. Everything about this game is great, I just hope EA would make a patch that will allow you to play your own mp3.

Graphically, the game is the best I've seen since GT3. Being able to see your surrounding clearly whille moving at 130+ M.P.H. is a big plus for me. This goes the same for performance upgrades. I was disappointed to find that all the cars are about the same, even though in reality they are much different. While I haven't gotten it yet, I know that there's an RX-7 in the game, and I'm looking forward to getting it, but knowing that a fully upgraded Civic couldn't hope to come close with a fully upgraded RX-7. Another thing I didn't like was the lack of performance tuning. Being able to set my suspension and gear ratios and downforce should all be something that can be modified in a racing game that allows customization. … Expand

    Very enjoyable, more fun to play than I was expecting. Its great fun to customise the sh1t out of a car, really personalising it. Its just a pity that there's no LAN mode and that the music is so bad. Gorgeous graphics though.

    This game is fast paced, enjoyable, challenging, graphically amazing and the best racer i've played in a while. The only thing stopping this game from receiving a ten is the lack of damage on the cars, for which there is a very good reason.

    Very good game. Graphics are great, gameplay is pretty sweet. However, I do find the Online menu a bit retarded but overall this game is a winner!

    The best is the feeling in the game. The game makes You feel 100%, that You are an underground racer. The soundtrack is one of the best in the series. Graphics are quite nice. Also the car colection and how You can tuning them are good to. But sadly, that's it. The career mode starts well, but then becomes boring and feels deficient and unwary. Physics are still not good (but much-muchThe best is the feeling in the game. The game makes You feel 100%, that You are an underground racer. The soundtrack is one of the best in the series. Graphics are quite nice. Also the car colection and how You can tuning them are good to. But sadly, that's it. The career mode starts well, but then becomes boring and feels deficient and unwary. Physics are still not good (but much-much better then in HP2), and the traffic modelling is still bet (again, better than in HP2, but not good enough).

    Need for Speed Underground is a great step forward in the never-ending Need for Speed Franchise, and a total reboot of the series, both in game play terms and value, but also in visual design.

    The game is centered on the import and tuning culture.     The action takes place in the fictional Olympic City, where the player must gain his respect and be the best by...well...winning races and be more notorious.

    The game features many game race mods, such as Knock-Out, Circuit, Sprint, Drag, and Drift.

    All race types have a different style of racing, especially Drag and Drift, which require the player to push his skills to his limits in certain events if he wants to win.

    The Career also features a top 10 ranking with the best racers in the town, magazines which can be unlocked by the player by his progress in career, but also for doing certain things.

    Career also features an option to choose your race difficulty, which everyone has it's own cash reward depending the difficulty you chose.

    Parts for both visual and performance, and even cars, are unlocked by completing regular events, while is also featured a tournament mod with more stages, in which the player unlocks performance upgrades.

    The gameplay is great and fun, but also can draw bit of criticism because of the car's handling, which after becoming tuned, the handling is a bit too responsive, and can make you easily crash.

    Also the city isn't really small so a Free Roam mode is more than welcome, and the gameplay is very linear and many races are repetitive.

    The visuals aren't bad at all, but certainly could've been better, most of the map props are looking good, while some don't, for instance the traffic cars, which have a terrible about of detail.

    So, final verdict.

    This game is definitely in my top 5 NFS games. For me though, it was the first game which gave so much freedom in how you wanted to customize your car. I like the tracks, the cars, the setting, the racing modes. The only thing I don't like about this game is rubberbanding other than that it is a solid 9/10 game!

    Unlike previous NFS games, where you could only choose the paint for the car, here, you can actually decide how your car will look, not just the color, but also body parts and each part can be painted separately, decorated with decals or brands, well practically everything can be personalised to your liking.
    This game has 20 licensed cars, fully customisable and each car can be upgraded with performance upgrades gained during playing Underground Mode.As this game is almost twenty years old, it shows some imperfections that games had at that time, like stupid and unfair AI. By stupid I mean that they will practically crash into you if it happens that you've chosen to take the path to the right and he decided to take the one on the left as if there was no obstacle, he will not change mind at any cost whatsoever. By unfair I mean that there seems that the AI has more grip than the player, which was noticeable in two occasions, while racing as there are some parts of the track which are impossible to take without any braking, while the AI takes tight corners with no problem and carrying much more speed. The second occasion was when crashing into traffic, when I crash into traffic, my car always goes flying for seconds and seconds and eventually losing 5 or more seconds after resetting the car, while the AI only spins a little bit or slows down upon impact, nothing more, no flying or things like that. The jumps must also be taken perfectly as you will end up rolling over and over until you reset your car. Talking about traffic, if you are winning there are some occasions when a car would appear in the middle of the track right before the end of the race, eventually ruining your race as you don't have any time to react and crash into him.
    Because of these issues, I've spend more time restarting races than making progress and making this my the most irritating NFS game so far.

    All in all, I recommend this game to every NFS fan, even though it can be irritating at times, I still had fun playing it. Great amount of cars, car customisations, tracks and events will probably keep you entertained for a while.    … Expand

    One of the best arcade racers out there. This game still holds a very good spot today. It has ages very well. Only problem with this game is the weird NPC AI. They are trying their best to make you crash. You can witness this by playing a drag race on hard.

Not only will your opponents close in on your 10+ second lead despite you driving flawlessly, if they pass you, the game will basically tell you that your race is over because no matter how good you are, chances of you catching back up, is almost none, especially with the crash and driving physics working against you. The “catch up” feature i suppose turns off, and is shown when your opponents start making turns without braking and leave behind smoke trails of their unlimited grip around corners. If you've played this game, you know what i mean. Despite these flaws, it is still a fun arcade racer.… Expand

В игре ужасно сделан искусственный интеллект, ты отстаёшь на 4 секунды, и тебе понадобится 3 круга, чтобы его догнать (играл я на высокой сложности), а он же в свою очередь, отставав на 8, может догнать тебя за полтора круга. Такое наблюдалось особенно в гонке с Мелиссой, которая была самой сложной в игре (+ ещё и на высокой, фулл зардкор) запомнилась. Ставлю 7, заИгру проходил 2 раза. В игре ужасно сделан искусственный интеллект, ты отстаёшь на 4 секунды, и тебе понадобится 3 круга, чтобы его догнать (играл я на высокой сложности), а он же в свою очередь, отставав на 8, может догнать тебя за полтора круга.     Doesn't matter how well you drive if you make one tiny mistake opponent pass you.

    Car handling is great though. Tracks are repetitive. You can't fill nitrous like in ug2.

    Pretty simple game. You race, you win cash, you buy new car, the way game works is actually challenging (In a good meaning). Game is not about destruction like in flatout but its still worth playing.
    back in the days EA used to be a cool company.
