    A game with a cartoon theme that has moved away from seriousness, I think it should be abandoned as soon as possible. We will modify a vehicle with a damage modeling story in the style of a movie.     Arcade racing game is supposed to be fun, not frustrating and so grindy. Add that with bad soundtrack and bad handling, this is definitely not how to make an arcade racing game, considering the price.

    I played ALL NFS games until now, and many others, so I'm no beginner game driver at all. But I must say, this game is broken. If you make a single mistake, you are basically done. Plus it is nearly impossible to escape the police after heat 4, sometimes even 3, and that's with the S+ car.
    It is    Wow, this game is by far THE worst racing game EVER, not only within the NFS franchise.

    It is incredibly hard to collect money so you can progress. I'm actually thinking about uninstalling this piece of sh-. I'm so disappointed.

    Edit: Switching my rate from 1/10 to 0/10 because after every update I can't start the damn game until I make a repair through Origin. And it takes FOREVER. Absolute disaster.    … Expand

    A step down from Heat. The boost is the only improvement. Betting is also nice but you should be allowed to bet more than 1 driver. Driving mechanics got worse with the addition of grip tuning. The race turn markers are inconsistent with depth of field making turns look like it should be further down. Traffic is more annoying.     Big NOPE. This game is insanely bad. Even its ARCADE RACING, the handling is sooo unpredictable. Now, with the BURST nitro you cannot the corners fast without the BURST in the bar. Why? Bcs without it ur car is waaay slower. Also the BURST nitro works so randomly. Sometimes the BURST nitro refills in 100% just for doing nothing, sometimes it doesnt want to refill by even 1% while doingBig NOPE. This game is insanely bad. If you touch the rival/traffic/wall the steering wheel locks for some sec, and your wheels are locked in the ‚neutral’ position, and you cannot make a big angle - so you cannot manipulate the steering wheel, cannot turn. Same thing happens after every ‚drift’. The roads are filled with random bumps, and the bumps also locks ur steergin wheel. The game should be fun, but the only fun thing is the car customization.     Tragically bad soundtrack, worst story mode in terms of gameplay as it's stupidly restrictive and getting anything but the 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX at the start is pointless. Plus you literally cannot finish both the A and B-tier races in the start, as it's physically impossible have enough cash to have two cars in both tiers from just the first in-game days of playing.

    After 35 hours of playing this game, I felt that it was quite mediocre. The story overall was ok, but quite predictable as you were going through it. This feels like a lazy copy and paste of Heat, with a few changes. I will give bonus points for the art style, I thought it was quite cool and unique. However that is where the positives end, the game is very buggy from my experience playing it, lots of missing textures from invisible vehicles or texture glitches on your HUD. There was also a bug that I kept experiencing where the car would just steer in one direction and get stuck and it would throw me to last place because it had caused me to crash, this happened a few times, in races and police chases too and it got very annoying. There were also times where the car would just lose control spontaneously and also cause me to lose a race. The cars handling as well needs some improvement, there were times I wanted to throw my car into a drift only for it to not do that and crash into a wall, the system in Heat was so much better. Overall I had fun with the game, but at an expense of many many frustrations with it. Do I recommend it? Yes BUT only if its on sale, I wouldn't recommend this at full price.… Expand

    For god's sake please stop publishing new Need For Speed. Let this franchise live in our memories please. Even Criterion gave us a **** third quality action. Need For Underground with new graphics and animated cutscene can eat this game alive.

    The game is only a half-baked, low-effort dlc of nfs 2015 and criterion is to blame for not being able to do better by their standards. They could have done better than just a cringe zoomer story full of cringe effects that no one asked for and used the time to add new mechanics.

    A la ya horrible conduccion de siempre ahora se le agrega una mecanica abrumadora que te obliga a repetir eventos hasta el artazgo para farmear una determiinada cantiad de dinero y estirar artificialmente la duracion del juego. Pero eso no es lo mas molesto, lo mas molesto es que mientan en la campaña publicitaria diciendo que los efectos se van a poder desactivar cuando no es así y que teA la ya horrible conduccion de siempre ahora se le agrega una mecanica abrumadora que te obliga a repetir eventos hasta el artazgo para farmear una determiinada cantiad de dinero y estirar artificialmente la duracion del juego. Pero eso no es lo mas molesto, lo mas molesto es que mientan en la campaña publicitaria diciendo que los efectos se van a poder desactivar cuando no es así y que te implementen un modo "grip" para quitar el horrible brake to drift, pero que este esté roto y te haga perder todas las carreras. Es como "que molestos son, ahí tienen su modo grip, pero con penalizacion por pesados, si no driftean no hay carga de nitro" Lo que se siente al jugar NFS unbound es ganas de cerrarlo e ir a relajarse un rato en el Forza Horizon sin presiones y con una conduccion que da placer.
    le doy un tres porque al menos los autos no se upgradean con cajas de botin como en el Payback (el tocar fondo de la saga)    … Expand

    1) Good graphics, obviously better than heat
    2) Interesting trails
    3) You can decorate the car without having the skills of an artist . Just paint the car with ready - made graffiti and it will be gorgeous .
    The pros are over .

    Now the minuses
    1) The difficulty of the game. I choose the relax difficulty and still have to sweat on the tracks to win . probably if I choose the lowest difficulty , then I want to complete the game without difficulties ? Right? AI beats you , whether it 's cops or racers , there are scum from city cars everywhere . Once you crash and they can already catch up with you . At the end of the track crashed - restart . there are only 10 restarts . If the car is initially slow , then just get ready to arrive at the finish line 3rd last .
    2) Cartoon animations , cartoon characters - is it designed for children ? It would be better if they didn 't exist .
    3) Gameplay where there is no special freedom.     Freaking cartoonish fx and bad music was the first things i hated. Story is lame, like a 12 years old teen wrote it. Physics are really bad. Handles like sh t. Avoid it even on sale.

    The driving experience is a lot worse than with NFS Heat. Cars are very, very difficult to drive. and you could have brought in effects like water splashing when driving over puddles.     Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. This is the same game selling to us 3rd time. I'd be fine if it was DLC. NFS Payback was good, Heat is bad and this one is bad.

Nobody in the trailer or prologue was white, this makes me deeply concerned for my representation and playability as I will have nobody to relate to in the game, this is not diverse enough for me. I tried to put "WLM", "MAGA", & TRUMP" on my license plate, but they are censored for profanity, thankfully "BLM" is not. Whew.

    I gave you a point for improving the graphical fidelity over NFS Heat, short lived praise though as you morons managed to implement Denuvo and some of the worst optimization since Cyberpunk, and tank the FPS. Well done.

    NFS is an arcade racer, not a clothing collection simulator with dancing emotes for Fortnite children, but seeing as Forza Horizon is heading the same way, lets just state the obvious... these games stopped being made for car enthusiasts almost a decade ago, they are now just casual racing sims meant to advertise EA's marketing partners, push monetization, and evidently delve into identity politics.     Better than heat but that doesn't say much, the graphics are OK, the visual style is different but gets old in 3 minutes, the music is horrible most of the time with a few nice tunes too far apart. Character creation is a joke just giving us a clown and no options would have been better. Controls are fine mostly, but I unfortunately started and got stuck with Civic for so long it was awful.

    Also in Multiplayer you don't have to finish the Race to get Reputation and Money.
    If this what NFS is going to be in Future i will switch to Forza.
    The Graphics and the Effects are horrible and you can not deactivate them.
    Did i already mentioned the Music? Other Parts of these Series always had good songs in it but in Unbound there is not one Song that don't makes me aggressive when i hear it...    … Expand

    This is the worst need for speed i have ever played, and I've played literally all of them!
    The story, the characters, the acting, the grinding, everything is pure dog sh*t! I HATE that I had to pay for this game and that I can't get my money back anymore. It's one of the worst gaming experiences I ever had, unfortunately.

    I cannot believe how they have messed up the NFS this badly. I have played every single NFS title and thoroughly enjoyed each title (some more than others ofc) however, this game isn't even worthy of the title NFS.

    Firstly the game just feels empty, like it has no soul, which I've never encountered before in a NFS title and secondly the childish artwork and graffiti animations is beyond    I cannot believe how they have messed up the NFS this badly.     I played for about 5 - 6 hours and just couldn't take it anymore. The story is boring as all hell, the converations are just pointless and the game is the biggest failure in the NFS to date.

    If this is what the NFS franchise has come to, then they are well and truly out of ideas and creativity because this is a disaster.

    I put in for a refund request.

    Oh and also bugs? Not that it matters because I would have refunded anyways because of everything already said above, but almost every single race (at best every second race) the car just stops accelerating and I have to let go of the accelerator and push it again, it is extremely odd but caused me to lose placing a fair amount of times.

    But as I said regardless of this, the game is beyond bad anyways.

    Oh and like others have said, the driving experience is terrible as well, cars drive not how they have in any other NFS title (or other game for that matter) it is a unique terrible experience that makes it not at all enjoyable and like you are fighting the car constantly. I feels almost if I had to try and explain it, like a car game on an ancient console with a terrible controller that was terribly optimised.    … Expand

    Very weak and mediocre game has nothing innovative except for the characters in drawings and the anime visual effects, apart from that and a monotonous, repetitive game that copies the graphics and various details NFS HEAT. The problem with this game was not CRITERION but EA's crap that didn't give development time for CRITERION games. not to mention the soundtrack which is the worst among all NFS

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have no idea what they were thinking with this game. Progression and vehicle unlock system is horrible. For example: to unlock the 2016 mustang you have to purchase a Ford and do so many seconds of drifting in it just to unlock it. (The very scarce amount of money you have because races only give you a max of 20k.) Making enough money to level up your cars in the story mode and progress to the big race are crap as well. So very disappointed...… Expand

    Definitely not worth it especially at that high price, its a heat copy with a few minimalistic changes, cops are meh, pursuits not enganging, best was MW 05, Rivals and Hot pursuit. Customization is wacky goofy and cringe story and dialogue with political direction IN A RACING GAME

    Maybe the worst NFS ever. Criterion messed up everything in this Game. Just remember this is the whole Base from Heat. Very lazy..
    It is buggy, the physics are crazy and the Graphic is also not good. Really disappointed about this Game i think it's not worth 20 Bucks

    Worst NFS game in the series. Every aspect of the game is designed to steal your in game currency and keep you broke. You have to pay a buy in fee to do 99% of the races, which most of the time is more than the profit payout if for the race (pay 10k to win 14k, so only a 4k profit if you win 1st place). There's limited restarts IN A SINGLE PLAYER GAME so if you can't get the perfect lineWorst NFS game in the series. Betting higher ranked Ai will win you a lot of money but they rubber band hard AF so you can't actually beat them....so you lose your bet money (I've seen Ai on Easy difficulty be 100 car lengths out front of every other racer). If you bet someone lower than you, it's chump change, so betting is basically useless (I didn't even use the betting mechanic the first 15 hours of my playthrough because of how useless and rigged it is). The entire game is rigged. The exact same cars are always in the exact same positions in every race. The yellow/blue 350Z is always in first place, the 270Z Datsun is always in second place, the SS Camaro the African guy drives is always in third and so on. This is 100% every race. It's statistically impossible the Ai can get the same results every race unless they're coded to be in those positions. That's clearly rigging races coded into the game.

    Then you have to pay to upgrade the shop you're in, when you don't own the shop, just to get better parts. Why? I don't have to pay a shop IRL a $100k shop upgrade fee just to get them to order me a new turbo that I still have to pay for. It's just one bad money sink mechanic after another. The game constantly keeps you broke so you can't progress faster than it thinks you should. I've got almost 20 hours in the game and I doubt I've made $300K, overall. Again, this is a single player game with no way to cheat other IRL players. There's no way for you to ruin anyone else's experience, so why are there so many player limiting mechanics that clearly do nothing but hinder YOUR enjoyment/progression?

    Plus, everything you do in the game requires you to convert your safe money into heat money. The buy ins for races get payed back out as heat money, so the mechanic does nothing but make sure you constantly have money you can lose to cops busting you or the game freezing/crashing since heat money has not safety mechanic or "save" without banking it at the garage. Sounds normal, like Heat did night mode, except that the game is a buggy, glitchy mess that hasn't received a single bug fix patch since release and, if you just so happen to have a game crash or freeze...you lose 100% of your heat money. You will have a crash every session and it's random...so there's no way to prepare for it. This entire mechanic does nothing but punish the players. In my last two session I've lose around $70k because it crashed twice (once both sessions). I've constantly had to give up and turn the game off out of frustration because of crap like this. What's the point of spending 1 hour+ just to lose 100% of your progress every single time you play the game? You can't just go to the garage and bank it for safety because going to the garage is how you progress the day to night (you can no longer switch manually). You can't go to the garage and then leave back to the same day session you were just in. There's also a limited amount of time each in game week you have to collect the big buy in for the Saturday race that progresses the story. So, inevitably, you have to stay out and risk the game crashing in the hopes of making enough money to progress the story. The game is truly, genuinely not fun.

    The icing on the cake is how bad the story is and how terrible the dialogue is. 90% of the dialogue lines are written by pre-teens in middle school. "Yo, homie G-dog pimp, What it dizzly-do? Wanna skizzert down to the race spot and slap up these foos? YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!". Every line in the game is like this. Also, the Ai racers only have two voice lines and they same them every race...for the entire race. "Oh, you're good...I'm gonna pass you. You can't have my money, I'm gonna take your money" repeat 40 times per races for 200 races. Not exaggerating, not joking. It makes me want to turn off voice in game, but why would I want to play a NFS game as a silent film when the subtitles are still the same cringe lines?

    I hate this game. I cannot overstate how much I mean that. It's down right laughable how much better Heat is than this absolute dumpster fire.    … Expand

    Terrible cartoon effects. I have no idea what they were thinking with this game. Progression and vehicle unlock system is horrible. I cannot believe how they have messed up the NFS this badly. I have played every single NFS title and thoroughly enjoyed each title (some more than others) however, this game isn't even worthy of the title NFS.

    Terrible handling model all cars feel like driving a bucket with wheels and what's with all the unnecessary cartoony animations they even pop-up during gameplay they are very annoying, Feels like this game was made for 12-year-old kids so childish and completely out of reality. NFS IS TRULY DEAD uninstalled and refunded. Don't waste your money for this.

    I've played all of the other NFS games, and this has to be the smoothest release so far. First, the drifting seems to feel more realistic, making it actually fun to drift. The takeover events which are smash and drift, are great fun. The only draw back to the game is that there isn't a radio available in car. The music only plays while in the garage or menus.     I played it and it feels like a completely different game, it's not those dull NSF with terrible physics, it's something else. I like the effects here, but you usually don't notice them and get used to it in a couple of minutes of playing. As for me, this is the best nsf at the moment

    This is the THPS5 of NFS games. The graphics and art style look very similar, and it's the same sort of low point for the series. Ignore the paid promoters, this game is pure disappointment. Do yourself a favor and play the EA Play trial before you buy if you are really interested.

    We're in an age now where modern racing games *cough* forza horizon, give you everything as soon as you start the game, I mean jeez, a corvette as a starter car? There's no progression, no saving up.
    Thank the devs for not going that way with the new need for speed. You start off at the rock bottom (after the prologue) with the best you can get is a slow eclipse. Which makes you appreciate the cars that you're saving up for even more, you've earned them instead of it being won in a wheel spin.

    - Good things:
    Comparing it to heat, the game is drastically different, for starters the map in unbound is gorgeous! Very big, vibrant and the new addition of npc's make the world come to life. I have not been this impressed with a map since most wanted 05.

    Like many others, I was very sceptical of the 'anime' effects when I first saw the rumours. I can't even lie, as I massive need for speed fan like I am. I thought 'damn this is for real the death of need for speed' BUT NO!! THEY'RE SO GOOD!!! I LOVE THEM. It reminds me of nfs nitro, blur, and the promoting images for nfs shift. It gives the game as nostalgic vibe. Especially with the taillight trails. And, the different tyre smoke is cool too, its something different!

    The cops are DRASTICALLY better than Heat. I hated heat cops, they ever so slightly touch you and half of your heath is gone. It's the same if you smash into them, or if you're in their radar whether you are behind a wall or not, they will still find you. With unbound, they're not like that. You will still take damage, but no where near as the amount on heat. Which makes the chases ALOT more exciting.
    I also love how the helicopters are always scanning on heat 5! .

    If you're coming from heat, you will notice a huge difference in difficulty, even on easy mode. Gone are the days where you're 2 miles in front of 2nd. You make a mistake? You pay for it. Its challenging to reach 1st. Which I honestly love. Plus you only get so many restarts!

    Other things I like:

    - ADJUSTABLE TURBO/SUPERCHARGER SOUNDS!!! It's something I've always wanted. Now I have it. I can not fault this feature.
    - Customisation is fantastic too, with even more parts, body kits etc.
    - Upgrade system has been improved. No more risking your money for the 'good' performance parts!

    Iffy/bad bits

    - First of all. the dialogue is annoying and cringy. Still wayyyy better than heat and payback. They will talk when ever they want, whether you're in the garage about some nonsense which is annoying as at the time i was trying to shazam a song. The story is definitely clearer than heats to understand what's going on. But again it is so cringy.

    - Some car sounds are a little too quiet sometimes. Especially the subaru impreza. Now, nfs has always perfected its subaru boxer sounds. In most wanted 05/carbon/prostreet they were perfection. But in unbound it sounds weak. Even with exhaust tuning.
    - Physics.....I don't mind them. Nfs is an arcade. So expect arcade physics. They are dodgy at times but i assume an update will polish them out.
    - Also please let me take photos in portrait mode! I don't always want landscape.

    Summary:

    If you're worried about the game being abandoned. you shouldn't This nfs was made by criterion, look at their past nfs games. 2010 hot pursuit, most wanted 2012, rivals. They've all had a chunk of DLC'S and support.

The sounds are fantastic especially the RB26 sounds very accurate and better. The smoke effects are 50/50 great but not really distracting. Handling-wise, grip handling is back, and it's better then ever,Near perfect arcade racer, the track design is great, very creative routes and placement, except for certain checkpoints.     Have had zero crashes and bugs on PC apart from game soft locking twice during the 40 ish hours I've played. Nothing a quick restart didn't fix plus I didn't lose any money.

    It's a solid Need for Speed, handling feels good and you can tune it to your liking (Grip style, turn off Break to drift etc), the car selection is massive for a title like NFS, sadly no Toyota tho.     This one, NFS Unbound, is the best in the last decade, personally.
    Intense gameplay experience, great graphics, +anime style.

    The game is really good, it captures the spirit of the old NFS. The game has a very cool tuning and visual style, the game is well optimized on PC, I advise everyone to play. 9/10

    I love NFS Unbound it’s really great and also a lot of fun, the effects on your car are a little bit annoying at first but after a few hours I have to say that I like them a lot. The music is Meh sometimes it’s good but sometimes it’s just really weird and bad.

    I really don't understand people who rated zero points. This is a great "need for speed" game that I've been waiting for years. Although the game is simplified rather than realistic, it gives me great motivation to play the game.

    I was really happy with the details such as breaking the barriers on the road and not being able to play every race as much as we wanted, unlike in the old games. Although this game is very expensive right now, it's really worth playing, at least on GeForceNow, Xbox GamePass, or when it's on sale.    … Expand

    This isn't perfect but this is the first need for speed since Carbon & most wanted that I've truly enjoyed. It's feels like most wanted 2. The heat system is a little jank. Like I don't see why we should get heat after ever race even if police didn't see anyone racing. It can sometimes feel grindy but it actually makes you think about your next race. But let's talk about the style, I honestly thought it looked trash watching gameplay and fully intended to turn it all off but it just feels right when your playing it actually make the game look amazing at night I find myself actually trying to drift now because that smoke mixed with thr blue and red lights hitting that perfect drift feel epic. Obviously 5his isn't a sim racer if you are looking for that then go somewhere else need for speed has never cared about being realistic. Welcome back NFS you wasn't missed but dam it's nice to see you back again… Expand

    That feeling of hunt and be hunted, this awesome setting and creative car customization make Unbound better than any of the last decade. The atmo got improved a lot! But not everything is gold: the cars still feel like glued to the ground even though it is not that bad anymore like in NFS Heat.     I will tell next: This is the best Need for Speed game ever!!! Best graphics, Best physics, Best cars, tuning, street racing, open world and very smart cops!!!

    EA, please, make the new NFS game with open world, but on EGO engine...

    Need for Speed Unbound is a solid comeback for the series, provided you can deal with some potential annoyances. The risk/reward system functions well in creating tension during all parts of a race, but the grind is an annoyance until you get better cars or parts for your initial ride. The presence of elements borrowed from other racing titles is done well enough, but the story can be a chore to sit through if you aren't already using this slang every day. Overall, Unbound is a solid racing title that should hopefully start bringing the series back to prominence.
