    One of the best NFS games out there, had a great time playing this. great physics and gameplay. the campaign is interesting and the tracks are just awesome. A true classic of all racing games.

    Super. Although it is already an old game i will play it again and again for the feeling and especially for the cars: PORSCHE only! I played NFS II, III, VI, VII but this one is the best. YOu can tune your Porsche, choose your color, interior, rims, all that, you can see estimated performance of your tunned car. Great if your are a Porsche lover, and if you are not, you will be! It showsSuper. Although it is already an old game i will play it again and again for the feeling and especially for the cars: PORSCHE only! I played NFS II, III, VI, VII but this one is the best. YOu can tune your Porsche, choose your color, interior, rims, all that, you can see estimated performance of your tunned car. Great if your are a Porsche lover, and if you are not, you will be! It shows the entire Porsche history from 1953 till 2000, with complete stats for each car (not only acceleration and top speed like other games), complete with history fact, pictures of classic cars. Features several competition modes, in which you can buy/sell/trade your Porsche, repair, resell, re-buy and make money for the next cars and competitions!

    NFS Porsche Unleashed had great landscape, too, like NFS The Run.

    this is the most exciting, beautiful (for its time) and thought a racing simulator from EA. Tracks are very beautiful and interesting. Competitions can replay several times for earning money, you can do reselling cars; also very interesting to modify various components of the auto balancing between performance and controllability.     Okey. NFS Porsche Unleashed es uno de los mejores juego del año 2000, tube real diversion por muchas horas cuando era mas joven, creo que la reputacion de este juego es indiscutible, es uno de los mejores juegos hechos por NFS, juego el cual ya no pueden ni los mismos creadores replicar, solo empeorar, que es lo que estan haciendo actualmente.     Got this old game working on my modern PC. Why go through the trouble when it is available on PS1? Because each version is literally a completely different game, developed separately by different teams of developers, with EA clearly intending the PC version to the be superior of the two. Electronic Arts openly stated that they wanted to leverage the added power of high-end PC hardware to create a more immersive experience for PC gamers. They succeeded.
    The PC version has a more realistic four-point physics model, nuanced damage deformation, is more feature rich, has a less compressed (and largely different) soundtrack, and has graphics that rival many later GameCube/PS2/Xbox era console racers. The following are a list of differences between the PC version from the PS1 version, that serve to highlight the ways in which the PC version is still a great game even after the passage of over two decades...

    - The four-point physics model makes the in-game physics more simulator-like, and ultimately more difficult to master than its PS1 counterpart. But this also means that the PC version's four-point physics model is more logically consistent, and therefore, more rewarding when finally mastered. You didn't get lucky, you didn't exploit a glitch, you simply got better. And you know it.

    - The PC version has a cockpit camera with head movement simulation. Combine this with rumble support that mimics the rumbling of your particular engine, and you have a more immersive and ultimately more challenging experience. And all you have to do is switch your camera view for it ;)

    - The PS1 version offers fine tuning car performance and a paint job... however... in the PC version, you can swap rims, body parts, decals, tires, and engines. You can also change the interior and exterior color of cars, and perform some fine tuning. The level of customization coupled with the more realistic physics model, gives the player a sense of control and freedom that more than holds up to most modern racers.

    - While Factory Driver mode (a story driven series of missions centered on the player becoming a Porsche Test Driver) is available in both versions of the games, the PS1 version only offers time trial and deliveries. The PC version is all that and a bag of chips...
    The PC version's Factory Driver pits you against other Porsche test drivers while also testing your ability to master specific maneuvers. All this while giving you more time trials and deliveries in more varied locations. When experienced through the consistent physics model, the PC version's Factory Driver actually feels like a story mode comprised of difficult, but fair, challenges. It also gives a chance to win three cars with livery (racetrack-style) paint jobs, so there is that.

    - While Evolution Mode is available in both PS1 and PC versions, the PS1 version is decidedly easier, more lackluster in it's presentation, and gives you less control over your vehicle. Specifically, all vehicles for a given era are available as soon as an era begins in the PS1 version, you don't have to worry as much about damaging your car because you can't replace or improve it's parts, and the showcases of each cars history and abilities... don't exist in the PS1 version. THe PC version's more realistic physics model and parts damage, forces the player to overcome technological hurdles of yester-year to enjoy the technological leaps of tomorrow. By the time you hop in your '00 Porsche 911 Turbo (996), you know you've earned it. Which leads me to my final point - the reason this game holds up as a great game even today...

    The PC version's greater presentation, customization, and challenge, combine with the difficult to master - but realistic and consistent - physics model to give it the best quality any game can have...
    REWARDING PROGRESSION. Every major achievement in the game feels hard won as a result of genuine effort - and it looks as slick as a racer made a whole console generation later while doing it (especially if you are screening it on a modern display, with modern hardware, on highest settings).

    * SIDE NOTE: IN ALL FAIRNESS*
    To the credit of the PS1 version, it actually has a more complete lineup of certain lines of Porsche vehicles than the PC version... that said... the PC version... is, in fact, a PC version. Which means if you really care to acquire every last model of Porsche (or any other manufacturer's car) you can find some old download sites (or make your own if, you learn how to) and simply add any car to the game. Then customize that car to your heart's content.

    If you read all of this and want to play this game - but don't want to buy a 20 year old computer on eBay to do it, donwload and install nGlide ( a 3Dfx
    Voodoo Glide wrapper that allows you to play games designed for 3Dfx Glide API/Cards on modern hardware). Cheers.    … Expand

    Best Need for Speed. Great career mode - well done combination of slow old cars to modern sport cars. Great graphics, of course little dated now days but still great because its healthy base. From other racing games I have problem to remember tracks, its not case of Porsche Unleashed. Except Monte Carlo trio are all tracks unique and beautifully made.     I've been playing each NFS at its release, I was stunned by the epoch-making Road&Track - TNFS at the time, first I've been playing it on PC in 2010 I got myself a 3DO to be able to play the very original and still in 2010 I was stunned how realistic and awesome it was for its time. Also I remember playing NFS - PU first, got into the menus at a friend's, we said wow, it'd be nice ifI've been playing each NFS at its release, I was stunned by the epoch-making Road&Track - TNFS at the time, first I've been playing it on PC in 2010 I got myself a 3DO to be able to play the very original and still in 2010 I was stunned how realistic and awesome it was for its time. Also I remember playing NFS - PU first, got into the menus at a friend's, we said wow, it'd be nice if everything looked that good at gameplay... Then we started our first race and our first reaction was synchronously: "HOLY SH*T!!!"
    Then we've gotten deeper into the game and we were amazed about how detailed the game is, not only when it comes to graphics, I mean EVERYTHING! I thought it would be hard to outshine the very first NFS, but NFS - PU for sure did this! To be honest I didn't really love Porsches before, but just as someone else before me said: "if not, this game will make you do it!" and it did!
    Awesome graphics, flawless balance between simulation and arcade, great presentation of Porsche history, glorious videos, soundtracks sooo close to perfection, I just love it till this very day! Strongly recommend!    … Expand

    This is the first racing game where i felt the controls as realistic, i liked how the cars felt as if they had mass and weight when steering and cornering. The graphics where cute also

    Минус игры только один: мудрёное меню, непонятно как начать гонку и когда будет считаться игра завершённой (цель). А в целом, это одна из лучших частей в серии с отличным саундтреком и локациями.     Madre mía, que decepción. Este Need For Speed me recuerda bastante a Gran Turismo y a los dos primeros Need For Speed. Volvemos a los controles duros y sobreviraje de las dos primeras entregas (ademas de ser super exagerado, ya que incluso con chocar con un cartel el vehículo empieza a querer derrapar), que gran retroceso, adiós a los controles libres y precisos del Need For Speed 3 y 4.Madre mía, que decepción. Este Need For Speed me recuerda bastante a Gran Turismo y a los dos primeros Need For Speed. Volvemos a los controles duros y sobreviraje de las dos primeras entregas (ademas de ser super exagerado, ya que incluso con chocar con un cartel el vehículo empieza a querer derrapar), que gran retroceso, adiós a los controles libres y precisos del Need For Speed 3 y 4. Por el lado positivo sin embargo, tiene muchísimos autos y bastante personalización, cosa que se agradece. Sin embargo, el juego carece de modo de persecución y pantalla dividida, y incluso las primeras carreras pueden llegar a durar mas de 4 minutos, lo que se hace tedioso de jugar.
    Las canciones me pasa lo mismo que con el 4, algunas son muy buenas, pero otras son muy olvidables.
    Graficamente el juego se ve bien para la epoca, hay puntos en los que se ve peor que NFS 3 y 4, pero hay puntos en los que es mejor. Lo que si dire es que es el mas "limpio" graficamente, al menos en PC.
    Y como ultimo punto negativo, el juego es muy incompatible en muchos sistemas, incluso mas que NFS3 y 4. Si, tiene parches, pero incluso estos no funcionan en ciertos sistemas operativos.
    No se bien que intentaron hacer con esta entrega honestamente, casi se siente que fueron desarrolladores distintos y de casualidad ellos eran fanáticos de los Porsche, sin embargo eso no es lo que me molesta. Pero en vez de expandir y mejorar la jugabilidad del NFS4 decidieron irse por otro camino, y en lo personal, lo hicieron mal. Uno de mis NFS que menos me gustaron.    … Expand

    Much like NFS3, this game is perfectly simple with plenty of maps, cars, and gameplay modes. There is a Modern Patch (by VEG) that makes this game playable on modern systems without raising system requirements at all - it runs like a breeze on even the lowest end    This is a great example of a game series at its peak right when hardware accelerated 3D hardware was beginning to thrive.

    The cars and scenic routes in this game were sublime for its time. Admittedly most of them were slow but for 2000, the actual driving and graphics were pretty good.

    This title is indeed a remarkable one.
    I played it approx. 20 years ago, but I remember the graphics were stunning and the controls were good.

    I was not particularly interested in Porsche stuff, I guess I just played it because that was the NFS game of that era.
    8/10 because I obviously can't remember the game's flaws, but there surely were some.

    Always did campaign first and then enjoyed unlocked cars in single races. Graphics were great that time and indeed it has great soundtrack. I would really love to play this again.

    Incredible graphics. Porsche heritage. First time vehicle modification. Porsche driving academy. A magnificient game and probably in my Top5 Need For Speed games.

    Very good physics, runs great, great career, good car collection, nice tracks, good design and soundtrack. Incredibly solid game it set the bar very high and for many years much more successful games did not reach anywhere near the depth of this game. Extremely under rated.
