    I can't fault this game for support, the devs are on the Steam forums daily checking for problems or keeping us up-to-date with what new features/changes are coming with the upcoming patch. It is the best supported indie game I've seen on the Steam forums!

    The game is a top-down zombie shooter and fast-paced play but lots of fun too.     A classic top-down shooter following in the footsteps of great games like Crimsonland. Mobs of zombies shuffle toward you from every direction and you blow them to pieces with an arsenal of unique weapons and power-ups. The only thing that could have added to the replay value of this game would be persistent leveling, but it's hardly missed. A great game for such a rarely used genre!

    Found this during the Halloween Steam sale, I mainly only play multiplayer and Nation Red is a blast. The perk system sets it apart from other top-down shooters, every coop game can be different. Already logged in 25 hours two week after getting it! Be warned it's fast paced and not at all easy!

    Nation Red is a much needed reincarnation from the likes of Crimsonland and Smash TV. It stays true to it roots, so don't expect a big story or traversal to the likes of Left 4 Dead. It is an arena shooter that sends you back to the arcade days. If it's the best of its genre, then why isn't it a 10? 10's and 0's are the furthest of the spectrum and I could not think of a single game that would deserve a 0 or 10. So yes, Nation Red is near perfect at what it is and I can only recommend it to everyone who likes chasing scores.… Expand

    The premise is simple: you get dropped into an arena, you pick up weapons, kill zombies, and level up until you die at the hands of a mass of bloodthirsty monsters. It's a very simple concept, but it's unbelievably entertaining. I've never competed so hard to beat my friends' high scores in a game until I picked this one up.     Nation Red is NOT just "another zombie shooter". We have the "Resident Evil" TPS series, yes. We have the "Zombie Shooter" top-down shooters too. However, Nation Red is way too different from those games to be even compared to them. This is my first review, but I'll try to make it as good as possible.

    The Positive Points of Nation Red are : ---> "Upgrading" your character. This is a    Nation Red is NOT just "another zombie shooter". We have the "Resident Evil" TPS series, yes. We have the "Zombie Shooter" top-down shooters too. However, Nation Red is way too different from those games to be even compared to them. This is my first review, but I'll try to make it as good as possible.

    The Positive Points of Nation Red are :

    ---> "Upgrading" your character. This is a feature that you'll find in every single RPG. As you level up, you can choose new PERKS. These guarantee your character improovements. There are virtually INFINITE combinations of perks, each combo will probably provide you very different game play.

    ---> Infinite Replay Value. Currently (And you'll see why I said currently later on), there are 4 gamemodes: "Free Play" - Play an infinite game, leveling up while choosing carefully your weapons.
    "Barricade" - The only two differences are that you have the support from Barricades and Sentry Guns to help you killing zombies, and that you have to stop enemies from reaching a certain point.

    "Survival" - Free Play with absolutely no drops. You get to choose a weapon in the beginning, but that's it.. There will be NO MORE WEAPONS, NO MORE POWERUPS and NO PERKS.

    "Missions" - 18 missions at both day and night with great objectives. From killing X number of zombies to protecting a VIP.

    ---> On-line/Local Cooperative Games - The Co-Op 2-players and 4-players games are the best part of Nation Red. All the 3 previous modes are available for Co-Op. By focusing on playing with friends from the Steam Community, the On-line Co-op matches are EXTREMELLY addicting. Get a friend and go explode some zombies!

    ---> Community Support - Ever had to post something on the game's forum and wait for days to get an answer? This doesn't happen on Nation Red. SnowBrigade, the contact from Diezel Power on the Steam Forums is, by far, one of the best developers when it comes to listening to the community. In fact, we can literally say half the content we see on Nation Red now is from suggestions players have given through time. There are threads and more threads with suggestions.

    ---> Steam Leaderboards - There are leaderboards for EVERYTHING on Nation Red. Most kills, most time survived, most points, most experience, most kills in a certain period of time...So many I can't actually memorize them all!

    ---> Available in Several Languages - Nation Red is available in English, Deutsch, French, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese! And some of the translators are the players themselves!

    ---> Create you Own Maps - Although Nation Red doesn't have an editor, it's very simple to create your own map! All you need is a 3D Modeler and some other stuff I don't understand about! But I assure it's very simple.

    ---> Achievements - No need to explain this one. Because deep in our hearts, we're all achievement whores.

    ---> PhysX - The game's quality only became better when it migrated to the PhysX physics system!

    ---> Great Graphics, Great Performance - Although some players had problems with crashes and low FPS, that's NO MORE! In the last update, Nation Red developers apparently fully fixed those.

    ---> Think Fast or Die - If you want to do this while you drink tea and have someone massaging your back, DON'T! Nation Red is all about thinking fast and running and killing and running and then running a little bit more and then dying, because we all die no matter how good we are. Zombies are better.

    ---> Classes - You can choose your perks, your weapons, your character and, in the next update, you'll be also able to choose classes! CLASSES! Those have advantages and disadvantages. Great for 4-player Co-Op.

    Hell, that's a lot!
    Now, The Negative points of Nation Red:


    -> The game presents some bugs. That's due to the constant updates with HUGE amounts of new content. Developers have to divide their time between fixing previous bugs and creating new content. The latter generates more bugs, but these are always fixed in the next version. (For that, I got -2 from 10)



    Final Conclusion: Nation Red is way too cheap for it's quality. It's worth at least 3 times it's price (9.99 Dolars, on Steam - http://store.steampowered.com/app/39800/).    … Expand

    Clearly lildanny has issues, Nation red is well worth the price and continues to get ongoing support from the developer, who listens to the community and continues to improve and add more to the game.

    Co op you will easily get your $5-$10 worth

    Nation Red takes a lot from the classic Crimsonland and adds what that game was missing! Loads of powerups, perks, 4 player coop (Steam) and player classes. Once you get used to the arena-style gameplay, I was hooked! Very fun and better with coop! Definitely a must have top down shooter on the PC. (I think it's a Steam exclusive, not sure though)

    Very addictive top-down shooter on Steam with devs. continuously adding more. It's a real arena shooter where you build your player with about 100 perks, which is a bit different from the likes of Alien Swarm. But the gameplay and coop will feel familiar. Comes highly recommended!

    Didn't expect to like it since I am usually not a fan of top-down shooters but this game is awesome nonstop massacre. One of the few good zombie games I own.

    This game is awesomely fun and enjoyable. Blasting zombies has never been so addictive, and the online co-op makes it a good game to play with friends. Single player is great as well as you can challenge yourself to beat other's highscore with the leaderboard.     A few months back 2-player coop was introduced and soon 4-player coop with new maps will be released.

The community forums are filled with new ideas and suggestions and the developers actually reply to a lot of them and have a lot of plans for future updates.

    There is currently 2-player multiplayer which you can play either co-operatively with shared XP on or off. But there is also a very interesting 'Anti-Perk' mode which pitts both players against each other and allows special perk upgrades that are built specifically to hinder another players survival capabilities.

    With an upcoming class based 4-player co-op mode being introduced soon, as well as many other features and overhauls, Nation Red is one of those games that I can always go back to. No other game does top-down zombies THIS good!    … Expand

    Frantic, non-stop zombie slaying action. Great varioation between the different game modes, and a huge amount of perks ensure you won't get bored quickly.

    Initially simple top-down shooter which hits home when you play it for a while and start to understand the 100 perks which make your player into an ultra-violent killing machine! On-line coop tops it all off. Great fun. Tip: start in Barricade mode, it's a blast!

    I would like to recommend this game to everyone who has 3 more friends ready to hit it. Of course you can play with strangers online, but it's just cooler to form a team and see how far can you get. Survival mode of this game is one of the most intense and interesting cooperative online play that I experienced. The game seems to be inspired by Crimsonland which I love very much.     i played this game when "free weekend" in steam. It's really good one of the Zombie games in my opinion. There are so much weapons. And co-op teamwork of course! Maps are easy 2 understand. You can revive your teammates also. I would buy if it is played online. It is worth to buy.

There are missions, but they are basically variations of the other game modes that may be played at your leisure without attachment to the game's horror plot. Surely, because of its nature, Nation Red may not be a game you spend consecutive hours playing, and may be best if picked up at short intervals and breaks. There are many statistics that the game keeps track of for you, including a leader board for comparative and competitive reasons. The developer's are very much involved with the gaming community via Steam, and update the game often. I find that playing for longer than one hour at a time, Nation Red gets repetitive too quickly, and as I've mentioned before, it is better enjoyed in shorter periods. The player's character seems to glide and slide around the maps, which is a bit of an imperfection. These movements do not look very well done. Each of the game modes feel and play different from each other, which adds to the already existing amount of replay ability. While there is fun to be had with Nation Red, it simply becomes too repetitive and dull too quickly. The longer you play, the less you will feel like playing, and when you do play, you will be playing it for less time. It is a coffee break style game, and most of your enjoyment will come from fifteen to thirty minutes playing sessions. Anything more than that will rapidly wear out the game, and your interest in it. Nation Red isn't even close to being as entertaining or slick as Dead-Ops Arcade, the top-down zombie mini-game in COD: Black Ops. I dislike typing that as much as you hate reading it: a game has to be pretty lame to unfavorably compare it to an EA title.… Expand

The gameplay feels fluid and intense there isn't a second for resting. The game got plenty game modes too: survival, barricade, free play, missions and the recently added king of the hill.     This is a pretty good zombie game, but that's not saying much. It's mindlessly repetitive, but lots of fun. Even so, there are limited customization options, and a confusing "perks" system. It's too restrictive to be much fun with a friend, so if you're looking for a good zombie game, try something else.

    I remember playing Crimson Land and truly enjoying it, so I was hoping to get my hands on something similar when I bought Nation Red. Right now I'd say that Nation Red is the crappiest game in my Steam collection.

    Isometric "zombie" survival co-op. You unlock skills when you level up but it becomes a hassle since you can't pause properly to select them in multiplayer. Too shallow and too few maps/gameplay modes. Ugly, repetitive, and frustrating to control. No redeeming values that I can think of besides the fact that it is playable.

It's gory good fun especially with friends but there's nothing to keep you coming back despite all the game modes and it will easily become of of those games that you like but only ever play it when your friends want to. I gave the game about ten minutes before deciding that it was too dull to handle and didn't fire it up again for about six months. When I did I can gladly say that I was utterly wrong with my initial hasty judgement of the game.     *Graphics*
    While the visuals in the game are nothing spectacular, they are certainly smart enough for the job at hand. The sheer number of enemies that can appear on-screen combined with ludicrous amount of blood and corpses more than make up for the lack of any up-to-date super special effects. The interface is simple, clean and does what it has to do.

    *Gameplay*
    "Easy to pick up and difficult to master" is a definitely phrase that applies to this game. Barricade mode will allow you to have the action start off slowly, gradually getting more and more frantic or you can dive straight in and get down to business immediately in survival mode. Expect zombies to be having sex with your face pretty sharpish in the latter.

    The game has a huge selection of weapons, perks and power-ups allowing you to mix up your play style quite drastically and take a different approach to survival each time. Power-ups are dropped randomly by enemies upon their death and include things such as bullet-time, sentry guns and even a squad of temporary backup buddies. The perks are too numerous to list but they generally cover improved damage, movement, reload times as well as various periodic area-of-effect damage perks and improvements to the various power-ups you can find.

    Weapons range from axes and machetes all the way to miniguns, grenade launchers and flamethrowers with a decent selection of pistols, SMGs and assault rifles in between. While the single-player is highly addictive, the game really shines in multi-player. It's an absolute blast getting some friends on voice chat for some co-op.

    *Longevity*
    Numerous game modes including the ability to play co-operatively with friends and more than 100 achievements mean that I can see myself continuing to play this game for some time to come.

    *Overall 7/10*
    This game is well worth the asking price and it drops to pennies in the many sales we see these days! It may take a couple of play sessions to click with the game which seems to have been the case with me and my friends but once it does, you won't look back.    … Expand

    For me this game is a mixed bag. The gameplay is fun but repetitive. The perspective means you will have no problems with the camera but it also means that Nation Red would look bland. There are perks to spice up the gameplay but most of the perks make unnoticeable differences and there are just too many. There are perks to spice up the gameplay but most of the perks make unnoticeable differences and there are just too many. I Enjoy this game and I wish I could give it a better score but it's pros are just as plentiful and important as it's cons. with incomplete leveling system and no initiative to go in multiplayer I really doubt everybody would like this game. Regardless I Enjoy it which stops it from getting a red score. This game gets a 6 out of 10 for me. Not bad but taking the safest road in development possible might be a good choice but the game just isn't that memorable.… Expand

    This game is a must buy! Often on sale for as much as $1.50, yet such a good game.

    The game is very fluid and the controls are great and very responsive.

    You won't get tired any time soon, because there are so many game modes and so much to do.

    And wait until you try Co-op, it gets even better!

    It would be really cool if you could play with two joysticks!
    Lot's of powerups, fast action, a lot of fun for a twenty minute blast. The sort of game that will be fun to play from time to time for many years.

    Very repetitive and not innovated in almost anything. The graphics are nice and the perks are interesting, but it is a game without some prominent. At least the price is good and you can spend some time with friends playing it.

    Thankfully this was obtained at a whopping 2 dollar price point, but I gotta say it might have been a waste. I don't think I was looking for anything special, hell i pretty much doubted anyone regularly playing on the multiplayer, but between the lackluster colors and the quickly fading game play this game quickly becomes my "game im playing while thinking of what game I want to play".

    It offers several game modes, but the heart of the game is multiplayer barricade. Things begin calmly and escalate wave on wave, but the game only *really* begins once the perks begin to run out and everyone's decided to stick to their current weapons. Then it gets crazy, as you are forced to rely on the decency and usefulness of your cohorts. The beauty of it is that this is never as frustrating as it sounds: a new player or even a complete idiot is easy to support, and after one game most people are up to speed.

    I've put over 150 hours into Nation Red while I have some AAA titles waiting for my attention in my Steam account. I'll play it again this week, almost certainly.    … Expand

    A fun zombie arena survival shooter. Has some minor issues, but nothing game breaking. If you have some friends and want a great multiplayer experience, you could do much worse!
