  • Summary: Face the darkness in Moros Protocol, a pixel-painted sci-fi FPS roguelite where every battle is for survival. Stranded on a decaying warship, stalked by horrors, and guided by a voice you don't recognize, you must adapt, upgrade and push forward. You may be outnumbered, but you are not outmatched.

Moros Protocol is a fun and satisfying run into the alien-infested depths of a mission that's completely spiraled out of control, dismantling everything in your path with every weapon you can scrounge to get answers as to how it all went so completely and thoroughly wrong.

Moros Protocol is an entertaining Roguelike FPS with great old school visuals, but some quality of life issues and a lack of room variety hold it back.

Moros Protocol doesn’t deliver much innovation to the roguelike FPS genre. But its sharp action and moody atmosphere make it easy to sink into for a few runs. It stumbles with repetition and stingy upgrades, yet still earns its stripes as a scrappy, satisfying shooter.

Tragically, I was hoping to enjoy my time with Moros Protocol more. Despite satisfyingly weighty FPS mechanics, active boss fights, and a nostalgia-tinged pixel aesthetic, the scales are tipped for the worse by a very basic roguelite progression system and the absence of capitalizing on its more interesting science fiction story beats.

Moros Protocol is a decent roguelike FPS with a cool visual aesthetic, but it could have been better, especially as a solo experience. The moment-to-moment combat is enjoyably fast-paced, with a good variety of weapons and upgrades to customise your loadout. However, the sluggish meta-progression and repetition of taking the experience from the top after each death wear down the experience over time. If you’re looking for a fun roguelike co-op shooter, you can certainly do worse than Moros Protocol, as long as you bring a friend.

Moros Protocol is an FPS that combines fast-paced action with roguelike elements in a competent way, offering agile combat and a well-crafted, dark atmosphere. Despite its good ideas, the repetition of rooms and enemies, along with the imbalance of some weapons, limits the longevity of the experience. The game shines in intense combat moments, especially against bosses, but lacks enough variety and innovation to become truly memorable. Still, it provides an enjoyable experience for fans of fast-paced action and quick-paced exploration.
