    Played for almost 800 hours, frustrating unfun 99% of the time, high level gameplay is extremely unfun. Do not recommend. Game mechanics are a joke even when mastered don't waste your time on the game, its a spammy mess. Combat is unrewarding, unrealistic video game meta dependent. Unintuitive, tactically pointless.     Devs are also Sh** (basically a meme in the playerbase), I finally uninstalled on Chiv 2's release after being kicked by an official server admin/playtester for messing around. Game also has huge racist playerbase and no black/dark skin options.

    The game is broken. I've earned money and points and then spend them for gear and guess what, it shows I bought it when I was buying but I don't have it! Neither for my Horde/BR soldier nor the one I've created. And I can't even get e refund for this pile of **** because bought it on G2A and they don't care if you have any issues with the game.

    Incredibly fun game with many weapons and options to choose from.
    Somewhat grindy but it pays off and you unlock everything in no time.
    From Battle Royale to classic Capture with objectives and Survival mode. Such a basic concept yet anyone can pick it up and still be a competitive game at the same time. Mordhau falls on that line easy to pick up, harder to master. One of the best    Incredibly fun game with many weapons and options to choose from.

    The only real negatives being the servers aren't exactly the best but that normally happens at nighttime when playing on servers not in US.
    Incredibly done game right here and if you haven't picked it up and are looking for another multiplayer fun game to kill time? This is the choice right here. Don't blame me if you get addicted though.    … Expand

    I was under the impression this was a casual friendly game. It's the exact opposite. Mordhau has to be the most beginner hostile game ever. That's because    TL DR: Mordhau is a niche game, with a very specific target audience and criminally inhospitable to new players. Loads of gameplay, network, performance issues, each one individually is enough for me to decide it was a bad purchase.

    I was under the impression this was a casual friendly game. It's the exact opposite. Mordhau has to be the most beginner hostile game ever. That's because the majority of it's player base, are veterans with long experience on this genre, put against first timers. No matchmaking system whatsoever! So if a beginner makes it past that 0.3 k/d ratio streak for days, going from spawn to his death over and over, good for him. Most don't.
    They implemented those awful mechanics, known as dragging and accelerating which manipulate the swing animation making it impossible to read and counter. In addition, manipulated animations look absolutely ridiculous. High end players will twist their spines while facing the ground and somehow still put that blade between your eyes. They will spam the laugh emote while at it.
    In regards of performance, I had to turn everything off and lower every setting, in order to not sink under 60 fps (midrange PC). But I still get some awful stutters during combat. Network issues are present as well, which according to the community, are completely ignored. In my case things are even worse. Even though I live in EU, the closest server is far from close, keeping my ping way above 80ms most of the times.
    Don't get fooled by the no micro transactions, no paid dlcs bait. Most of the beginners/ casuals quit after 40 hours of gameplay.    … Expand

    Have > 200 hours in the game. Over a year ago they "reworked" shield mechanics, and they have been pretty terrible ever since. In order to raise held shield block, the player must hold the 'change weapon mode' button (default R) for an extended period of time. Unfortunately, this is also the "throw your weapon button". There is no way to change this.

    A wonderfully fun time in medieval combat. Definitely worth the money if you enjoy games like Chivalry or fast paced melee combat.

    Over engineering at its worst. This game tries to take you back in time and put you in these battles but in reality it just feels like you clumsily wave a sword around until someone lands a hit between what feels like hours of trading blocks. Awesome idea, i would love to like this game, but i just can't.

    By far the best slasher game around. Don't let players that have zero experience on the genre discourage you, all the veterans from Chivalry will tell you this game is the real deal.

    Best game I've played in many years. Makes me feel like a child again. Whenever I hit with my sword, I seem to move my whole body. It doesn't happen quite often with video games anymore that you're so in the game

    Chivalry spiritual successor. Basically better in every way. They have some server issues, because they didn't prepare to be Steam #12 most played game with 34K peak players. So the servers are severely overloaded. They are in process of getting more server capacity, but you might want to hold off a few days.

    Oh btw, first Unreal 4 indie game that I've seen, that doesn't run like garbage

    Mordhau, is currently the best medieval fighin game at market, despite major bugs sometimes like progress block or connection issues, but both are fixed by now. All the negative revievs are just ppl who got beaten by bugs, which are getting constantly repaired.

    Mordhau stands at the pinnacle of its genre. It's complex combat system is unlike anything I've ever seen. The controls are tight and intuitive, the feeling of getting a kill grants a deep visceral satisfaction. Losing a fight never feels cheap, mistakes are punished and if you were paying attention you can probably pinpoint what those mistakes are.

    If you enjoy carnage, memes and getting gud then this is the game for you. Mordhau is extremely fine-tuned and polished, and with mods coming in the future you will have endless hours of enjoyment.

Not to mention its amazing character creation that lets you create multiple kinds of mercenaries to suit your play style, there's no way you won't feel engaged. While the game somehow launched at a rocky start in the technical department, I wouldAn equally frustrating and immersive multiplayer slasher, Mordhau scratches that realistic medieval war itch, and does a great job at that.     This game needs more inclusivity. Making an option to change skin color should take a day to implement. The setting is in a fantastical country and medieval Europe wasn't all white. There really is no excuse for this and it has made the game attract a number of racist. Overall the game is like an improved version of chiv. The lack of inclusivity really holds this game back.

    After 700+ hr in game I can tell you that this game is fun... but it's not a competitive game. It's broken, unbalanced and it will never be fully fixed. I would recommend it for ocasional trolling and casual play tho. (Update: this game is almost dead, only veterans are playing it now, don't waste your money on this)

For anyone wanting customization, Mordhau has an option for every part of a player's character allowing them to role play as much as they want to without sacrificing any of the other quality aspects of the game.

    Mordhau is as competitive or casual as a player makes it and it is a blast regardless. It is an easy game to pick up but a very difficult game to master. I personally have not been able to put the game down and in just a few days, the game has exploded in popularity. At the cheap price Mordhau is at, anyone making the purchase is going to get a great deal and endless hours of fun. Mod support has been confirmed as coming soon as well and when that happens, Mordhau will have an even greater explosion of popularity.

    The developers really outdid themselves with this one. 10/10.    … Expand

    That creates a specific "back and forth" rhythm characteristic for sword encounters - when the attacker spends his energy, he is forced to defend, and vice versa.

    Since Mordhau does not implement footwork, it does not feel authentic - it's just Quake with swords instead of guns. As such, it could be hardly interesting for true fencing enthusiasts.    … Expand

    This game is a rock, paper, scissors of melee garbage. There is no skill require, there are about 5 moves a character can pull so it is very simplistic. The game-play is slow and clunky, the hit boxes are abysmal. The game pretty much devolves down to two moves, swing and block. Why does standing right next to a person allow someone to stab you with a giant two handed sword at the same rate as someone with a dagger. Shields for the most part play no role, it is just a game of smash with a two hander. The perks make no sense and are clearly imbalanced. The match making is insulting, most games are a **** show where one teams **** the other so hard you feel embarrassed if you win . When you enter a game and one team is entirely high level players and the other team doesn't have more than 3 people with double digit levels you should just leave or why not switch to the winning team as the game doesn't do any balance. The armor system is very very simple and mainly cosmetic. I guess plate mail isn't good at stopping someone from punching you. The thing is, it just isn't fun watching you either **** a team in or get ****ed, there is little to no middle ground in the game. One team is blue and once they get covered in blood so you can't tell their team anymore, a simple and embarrassing oversight. The tutorial is bad and the voice-overs for it are even worse. I don't think any of the devs have ever shot a bow either. The chat is full of garbage people. When I am not getting ganged up on I am dying to my team mates, seriously I have died more to teammates than enemies in some games. All around a slop show. Just don't buy it, your life will be better.… Expand

Then i tried to play br mode,waited like 7 minutes to get a match started with 18 PLAYERS in a mode that says there will be 64.     One of the best multiplayer games I've ever played - it's pure skill. Plus there are zero microtransactions and pay to win features, which is rare in a modern game.

    In regard to graphics the game excels on every department, but the most notable one is character customization, there are no microtransactions, which makes it honest and the amount of content is more than enough. If I had to criticize something about it would be the lack of options for face customization. One of the coolest things I have noticed were the scars, they deform the body of your character and make them stick out, which is an excellent detail.

    I would like to see bigger maps, cohorts or squadrons to make the game more interesting, more players in a match. But that would be too much to ask an indie studio. I absolutely recomend it, it's cheap and fun.    … Expand

    This has hands down the best and the most fun sword combat in the entire medieval genre. The physics in this game are also some of the best physics I have seen in ANY game. Arrows can collide mid-air. You can hit back weapons thrown at you with a good swing. A little light on maps and I have had some technical issues, so I am giving it a 9/10.

    A quite 'realistic' melee MMO arena game. However, the horse need big debug to be playable. Horse keep getting stuck on pebble or terrain. It's basically go-cart, even 10 cm different in height would stop your horse.

Mordhau is great fun whether you take it seriously or treat it as a casual game to chop some heads off. It is great for stress relief, since some medieval melee combat can be exactly what you need when you are frustrated. At the same time, it can also be stressful due to its intense gameplay. Your mood will define your experience in Mordhau.

    The biggest flaw is the lack of map variety. For a game that came out in 2019 and that is still popular, it definitely deserves more maps. And that is the only part, where Mordhau is a step back from Chivalry.

    Edit a few months after release: still my go to game (260 hours in). Today this game has ranked mode and even a good mod support for servers. To me, the most fun I've had in a game since... a long time. I dont understand why this game isnt on the metacritic best games list for this year.

    Game it´s dead now, don´t waste your time and money... there is only Viceous Tryhards left and the game it´s very indie, don´t flow like a AAA, and cause of that your K/D will be the worst ever... just like old COD games after 3 years...

It gives you an arsenal of weapons and tools at your disposal gives you a quick tutorial on how to do the basics then sends you on your merry way into the online servers for warfare against other players. You can find yourself storming a castle or defending it.

    Your given a lot of options on how you want to play. Ranged weapons such as bows and crossbows are at your disposal. Large swords, axes to little daggers or knives.

    The engineering toolkit seems at first like an interesting way to play the game however you won't find much in the way of points playing this way.

En fin que es un Juegazo de los que hoy en día no quedan.

J'ai donc trouvé le gameplay de Mordhau vraiment fade, c'est dommage car son univers médiéval    → Sus à l’ennemi !

You can create your character the way you want, with the gear you wish, fighting for or against the king.     Great combat system, fun multiplayer, cool community. The only drawback is constant questions like "How did he kill me? How did I miss?", But there are still bugs and twitchy animations, and well deserved 9.

If you don't like the fact people can camp and block doors why did you make that a thing in an update? You couldn't do that until the developers made it possible in the updates.

    Fun game honestly incredibly high skill ceiling combat system, but the fact it's so toxic and admin abuse is this strong kinda ruins any potential to have fun. You can have dudes literally being completely racist in every lobby with not a SINGLE kick happening from users or admins, yet I hadn't typed for over for over 10 mins, or team killed ) got banned for an hour, for blocking a door for 30 seconds when there was multiple routes around me and we were 300 tickets up and about to win. 10/10 system. (Team damage is on at all times pretty much which usually means if u dont know how to control your sword swings properly you're probably gonna swipe a few team mates here and there, and that is usually what gets people kicked, but this wasn't even that.) I wish I knew about all this **** before I got into the game, cus at core the gameplay is fun as hell, but a complete waste of time when this sorta stuff happens, regretting getting into it.

    As a new player I wouldn't waste your time, the people in control of this game aren't good at their jobs. There's YouTube vids out there from the mordhau community literally putting the owner of the game on blast for very questionable balancing and refusal to listen to community feedback for most things.

    They have an interesting weight system some weapons cost a huge 20+ weight and still take 2/3 hits to kill, yet they have weps like the cleaver for 3 weight and it can 1 shot anyone with lower then medium armour helmets, 2 shot with high armour. Use you will most likely have shorter range but in the middle of a giant 40 v 40 battle that barely means anything when you get 3v1'd and insta killed by someone coming at u from the side with a cleaver, and who needs range when you can have a stupid build like having full armour, cleaver and "bloodlust" perk which gives you full hp on every kill you get, so just swing wildly and run at people and occasionally you'll just get a 10 player killstreak out of nothing but pure wild swinging and running up close to the enemies while they're mid fight so they cant keep distance away from you. Yeah it's kinda fun at first but any long term playability in this game comes down to a skill based system, which with the way they've balanced weapons is non existent for the most part.

    But honestly just the fact I've been banned for an hour no warning, and I did nothing actually wrong is just the icing on the cake, nothing kills motivation for a game like being kicked off the game by admins when you're tryna get into it.

    It's a solid 9/10 or 10/10 game if you like sword combat and giant war game modes, but the fact it's run in such a way brings the whole game down to a 3.    … Expand

That sleep Chivalry started it and are trying to make a second one but Mordhau? Took everything from it, and transformed it into a beautiful game.     More visually stunning than most AAA games while also running smooth as butter with around 100-144 fps on a 2080 Super. The combat is out of this world and puts every melee focused one to shame out there, heck even archery is fun as hell while also adding some skill requirement. It's pretty much the Counter-Strike of Medieval games. If it had a Campaign it would be a solid 10/10.

    I have almost 1k hours in this game so its quite sad to see that bad choices of devs drove this game to the ground, its literally dead now with 1 full server (at best), that is always dominated by the same people.

    Amazing game. Best melee fighting physics that I have ever seen in a game yet. Great balancing of all classes and weapon types. A lot better than Chivalry 2 in my opinion. Check it out if you like medieval fighting games!

    Mordhau honestly has to be the best medieval fighting game I've ever played. Great weapon variety, lots of special perks you can choose, cool armor you can wear, and you can even use a pan to beat people to death. If that doesn't sound fun to you, I don't know what is.

    Mordhau is basically two games in one: on one hand, it has a complex fighting system with feints, ripostes and so on. On the other – you can forget about all that fancy dueling stuff and just charge in with your halberd, hoping to chop off a few heads before losing your own. [Issue#239, p.62]

    Mordhau is tough, violent, beautiful, and doesn't pull its punches. Despite an intense learning curve that could be better alleviated with more tutorials or better practice tools, its supreme swordplay and combat mechanics eventually outshine any initial frustration. The scale of battle is overwhelming and chaotic, but there's a definite sense to all the nonsense that, once you uncover it, gives you an incredible rush every time you go toe-to-toe with the enemy--even if you don't come out the other side intact.
