These games may not have the psychadelic light-synths and thumping techno soundtracks of Llamasoft's most celebrated work. They may even look like the inside of a badly malfunctioning early 80s arcade machine. But in terms of sheer playability, this is Minter at the top of his game, and it's easily my favorite release they've ever done. They may even look like the inside of a badly malfunctioning early 80s arcade machine. But in terms of sheer playability, this is Minter at the top of his game, and it's easily my favorite release they've ever done. This is mostly on the strength of Gridrunner, a "zone" shooter that dials the intensity up to insane heights of intensity and chaos while still remaining playable even when the dial has completely snapped off. VR helps, both making the field more readable and, perhaps, slightly lowering the control latency, but it's great either way. GoatUp is a silly game and not the star attraction, but I also found myself getting drawn into it, and it's nice to visit when I need a break from Gridrunner. Expand

The Minotaur Arcade games may not look like the same high-end product as Polybius or Tempest 4000, but they’re still top-notch games that will embed their voxels deep into your brain.
