   I started playing this and could not stop. I only paused to write this review and then I'm getting right back into it again.

   This game is retro done right - no weird art styles to make the game "look" retro, instead they took an old game system and rejuvenated it . The entire game is turn based - in dungeons and overworld. And every step has to be thought about. The fights are brutally hard, even on adventurer level. If you don't think about every choice, you're going to die.
   
   The loot is interesting. The battles are fun. The enemies are varied. The overworld has a lot of interesting stuff - exploration pays off, that square of land a few steps away may contain some loose dirt that needs to be dug in, or a hidden shrine to some god tucked away on the side that will give you valuable benefits you may *need* to get past the next fight.
   
   Fights are tough but fair. Magic is interesting. Character/racial choices have a huge effect on gameplay - for example some characters may only be able to get to "novice" on swordplay, whereas someone else may be able to become a grand master. (There are four levels: Novice, expert, master, grandmaster, for every skill.) If you particularly want a grandmaster healer, you better pick the right race AND occupation.
   
   There are a few minor blemishes - movements keys are set up so that WASD, rather than being what most people are probably used to, is Forward/Left/Backward/Right. But as the keys are reconfigurable you can fix this in seconds. Also on the overworld map trees spin in place each time you take a step. Minor stuff indeed.
   
   What you need to know is, this game is FUN. Not because it's retro, but because it's tough but fair and thought is rewarded. It's as if chess and D&D had a beautiful baby.
   
   If you like RPG's or if you like strategy, TRY THIS GAME.
   
   I can't wait to see what the devs do next. I congratulate them for a wonderful first outing and I'm really hoping they do an M&M XI.… Expand

I grew up playing the early titles in the series, starting with the very first.
   
   Make no mistake, this game is a throwback to those days and compares quite favorably to M&M VI (arguably the best in the series). I would like to see more enemy variety, but so far the developer has been churning out little blurbs of content on a pretty regular basis, so I am not too worried.
   
   Even on the default setting, this game does not hold your hand and you can be prepared for some tough and interesting battles. Like the RPGs of yore, it is quite possible to wander into a group of foes you simply can't handle early on in the game.
   
   This is worth a look if you are a fan of oldschool CRPGs or simply wish to try something "new".… Expand

   So far all the mainstream reviewers are critizising the game for "not revolutionizing or doing something new" i can only cringe and how idiotic "professional" reviewers can be when they review a game that is suppose to be a throw back to older grid based/turnbased RPGs and complain its not doing something vastly diffrent or copying Skyrim
   
   Im addicted to this game and thinking about playing it everyday, i havent had one mainstream game do that for me yet, so for that i give it a 9… Expand

   Really great old school feeling just the «you can't move when your at engaged at melee» is a bit hard to get used to, but it add some salt to the game challenge.
   
   Issues: it come with way too many bugs :( as often in MM licence since Ubisoft is in charge …
   And even if it old school game it doesn't have to be that bad in technical and graphical part… Expand

I'm only writing this review to tell potential purchasers of this game (which will be released NEXT year) to ignore the reviews so far (especially the low scores).
   
   Anybody who reviews an unreleased game, in Alpha stage yet, needs to be ignored like the plague. After the game comes out, then I'd listen to those reviews. Why Metacritic allows reviews long before a game is even released is beyond me.… Expand

Yeah, both series are quite different, but still are pretty similiar if it comes to the feeling them.
   
   After few hours I see that M&M X is bafflingly simple, both to mechanics and difficulty. Or the lack of them both. I know I will finish it eventually, it's not a dreadfully bad game, but it feels almost like a minigame that got turned into a full release in the middle of a development.
   
   There's almost a game breaking issue for me, though. The game has insanely bad optimalization and overheats THE **** OUT of by GPU, where not a single other game does that. Shadows on/off, vsync on/off, doesn't matter. It will quickly hit 90C< after few minutes (like 10 or 20 minutes).
   
   If you're looking for a dungeon crawler, almost any other choice is better. Comparing it even to M&M9 is a joke.… Expand

Et en même temps bien naïvement, ma foi. Heureusement, il n'a pas coûté bien cher ce machin... manquerait plus que ça de toute façon, déjà que ça coûte du temps et le temps perdu, il est perdu, il est foutu, hein ?
   
   Et Ubisoft ne rembourse pas le temps foutu. Donc bon, c'est pas bon ce bidule ressorti d'outre-tombe, ce "Might et Magic" numéro 10 refait, remastéri... quoi ? rebooté, redémarré à l'insu de son plein gré ! c'est une "jouabilité", ce sont des mécaniques grippées d'un autre âge, d'une autre époque symptomatique des limitations techniques de son temps, justement !
   
   Or, de nos jours, "jouer" à un truc pareil, c'est juste pas possible... et pourtant ce n'est pas trop vilain puisque ça été "refait"... et en même temps, ça reste loin d'être beau... c'est carrément moche en fait ! Mais comparé à "l'orginal", ça reste évidemment un sacré rafistolage de la façade...
   
   Quoi qu'il en soit, cette rigidité générale, ce ridicule des combats (au tour par tour oui mais tout pourri) cette absence de toute indication (mets toi-même les "légendes" sur la carte ! fabrique ton propre GPS, quand t'auras tout visité et tout retourné, tu sauras -enfin- où aller...!) ces déplacements sur rails et cases !
   
   Cette non-histoire, cet univers fantasy de pacotille... en solde. Non mais enfin, merde quoi... c'est de la grosse merde ce merdier. Allons, virez-moi tout ça.... à la benne et qu'on en parle plus !… Expand
