    This game is a pile of crap I would avoid stepping on even if I want to stomp it. Weak storyline, re-used graphics assets, weak characters that I don't care about, weak gameplay, weak music, online only and microtransaction galore. Why should I pay money for a save slot? Are you kidding me?!?!?

    Ok. They finally lost conscience.
    After they ask for money for the game, which is for the most part, done not well. They still ask for money for a slot of game saving. For additional party in game and etc. They specifically do so that there is more routine. And the usual things, without donate, took a long time. Even in a single.

Seconds are 10-15. I remind you, the main character is standing still. And so 10 times for the one cutscene.

    They want you to pay for an extra character save slot. You pay full price for this game and YOU MUST PAY FOR A SECOND SAVE GAME SLOT. If these guys and EA get together they could give birth to a child that kills gaming.

    This is in the top 10 of the dumpiest and worst games ever created. Based on greed and stupid idea of a game. Just a pure cash grab using the "Metal Gear" name.

    So how do I put it... This game is a combination of zombie survival and tactical espionage engine FOX but It makes no sense to mix those two together. We don't need stealth in zombie game especially not in TOWER DEFENSE type of gameplay. Survival means there is not much ammo so they patch in a really basic and crude melee combat system that doesn't do any good, what's worse our characterSo how do I put it... This game is a combination of zombie survival and tactical espionage engine FOX but It makes no sense to mix those two together. Survival means there is not much ammo so they patch in a really basic and crude melee combat system that doesn't do any good, what's worse our character becomes hungry every 5-10 minutes and each time there is an annoying warning that pops up. Crafting and actually this whole game reminds me of game Dead Island just in TPP.
    Graphics - for FOX sake this is FOX engine it will look good right?
    Music and voice acting - same music, reused from previous games, voice acting (and writing) is horrible specially AIs are voiced terribly.
    Multiplayer - Tower Defense with zombies and 5 different maps. Repetitive. But if you liked Mass Effect 3 multiplayer (which I did) you might find it amusing for some time.

    Overall average/below average survival game that has no requirement in stealth whatsoever = 4/10
    BONUS POINTS
    - 2 for "10 dollars for another save slot" and other horrendous microtransactions
    - 1 for Metal Gear tag on it (seriously what the fox guys...?)

    All I can say about this "videogame" is that you'll have to pay another 10$ if you want to create 2 simultaneous characters, so you're paying for the game to acces your HDD. GG.

    The game is actually a full priced DLC with microtransactions. Everything was reused from MGSV, soundtrack, animations, voice acting, they even reused Quiet's face on Miranda. The game feels like an extension of MGO3. The single player mode is soulless and requires constant internet connection. There's no enemies variations, the AI is dumb as hell, the crafting is boring, and when the main character is hungry, you need to consume at least 5 goats.     At least Hideo Kojima can once and for all know in his mind, that Metal Gear Solid was a great series because of him and his team, and not of Konami the company. I've always wanted a game that locks additional saves files behind a pay wall. Said by no gamer, ever.

    Metal Gear Abortion - a cheap asset flip, game was made for the single purpose, microtransactions!.

    Almost everything is reused, story mode is a joke, no meaningful content (lack of game modes, enemie variation) - very repetitive overall, very bad UI/HUD and worse controls than MGSV.

    It feels like a overpriced fan made Mod for MGSV filled with MTX.

    Seriously, even if the game was a Second Coming of Christ in gaming, with graphis that melts your soul with goodness and plot that put Godfather ang Gilgamesh to shame, the game need to be destroyed by the microtransactions that came from the depths of hell.

    In this "game" you need to pay 10 dollars for a new save slot.

    I gave this game the baseline 5 points for being a functional game with appropriate graphics with the philosophy that it must earn the rest of it's points through gameplay, story, and achieving what it set out to do. Well, if the goal of this game is to screw over the player fanbase, than I guess I should give this game    Each additional save slot cost $10, and the game only gives you 1.

    Poor voice acting, weakly developed characters. Zombie sprites look kind of silly with red glowing crystal. resources are spread too thin. lots of farming, poor tutorials and not worth the price. missing substance. The game doesn't go full screen on my ultra wide monitor either (MGS5 did)

    I have not player the game.....and won't, because the Metal Gear franchise died with the departure of Kojima from Konami.

    Not only is this not a Metal Gear game, it is far from it. From what I have seen it is a "Metal Gear" game if the Fox engine and all of the assets from Phantom Pain was outsourced to a small company that did not care and cobbled together a monster, not a game.

    There's so much Konami could do with the Metal Gear franchise, and they decide to do some random survival game?! How about creating something new for MGSV? New content for MGO3? Remake the classics? Add online modes to the HD Collection? Nope, they created a game literally no one wanted instead. Epic business move there. What's next? MGS1 remake outsourced to Blizzard?

    Sinceramente a konami conseguiu de fato acabar com a franquia, com apenas um jogo, que não tem nada haver com com os antecessores, sendo que parece mais uma DLC, e ainda tiveram a incrível proeza de colocar o preço a um nível de AAA. Enfim MGS acabou no Phantom Pain.

    Played the beta and little under 2 hrs of the released game.
    It is extremely lazy. The map is just about identical to MGS V with tons of reused assets and extremely boring, stupid zombies(seriously they have some of the worst AI I've seen).

    I didn't really expect much more than this, but I expected just about nothing and was still let down further. MGS is dead.

    The only thing that Konami cares is about gambling services and this is only a social experiment to consider to proceed. The moment when Knonami no longer cared about videogames anymore is when Konami fired Hideo Kojima most especifictly the CEO of the company.
    Silent Hills P.T. was in development and they cancelled it and Metal Gear V The phantom pain almost not got finished.
    The CEO stated at that time that he hated Kojima because was no making money and he taked long time to develop. He was also sabotaging last Metal Gear solid to not be finished. The most controversial statement was he mentioned he was only interested in Pachinko.
    So my question is why they keep developing videogames? They just want to follow EA Battlefront 2 bussiness plan. To make online gambling services,cheaply done just to make quick and easy profits.

    What Konami forgots as EA and other scum companies is that videogamers want videogames, not gambling services and we hate that stin-ky type of bussiness. That´s why their videogames department deserve to flop and continue on the Pachinko market exclusively.

    Only those who never played consoles before or got recently some gaming rig would get this lame excuse for a game. This is a piece of endless suc king su cker money with no more intentions than that and paying for a 2nd game slot is just the beginning.    … Expand

Not to mention that some features definitely give ingame advantages to continuously paying customers - not as bad as BF2 and it is just PvE related, but it does not affect after match rewards, but also in-game experience during match .

    3) If you are still reading this and consider to try this game - I highly recommend you to go for console version if possible. PC version is no more that a terrible lazy-made port from consoles - and this is the true reason why user scores for PC version are much lover than for PS4 of XBox versions is you compare.    … Expand

If you are into a somewhat demanding survival experience with a Metal Gear base to it, this is for you. It's a fun game on it's own. Will that change the fact many have a vendetta against the game? Nah. Fun co-op though, too.

If you enjoy slow-paced, survival games, then you must try Survive. If you enjoy zombie games (even though these aren't techically zombies) then IWow! Despite the controversy, I had very high expectations for this game. I'm a HUGE fan of Metal Gear V and the team who worked on Survive is made up of mostly the same people (minus Kojima of course). My expectations have been surpassed. If you enjoy slow-paced, survival games, then you must try Survive. If you enjoy zombie games (even though these aren't techically zombies) then I highly recommend this game.

    There have been so many tense moments that have kept me immersed and entertained. Some might be frustrated by the constant need for food and water. It is far more forgiving than say "Don't Starve" or "The Long Dark", but scavenging and hunting for food and water are a key part of the gameplay so if that is not your thing, you might want to stear clear of Survive. Another source of tension is the "dust" which covers most of the games open world. You have limited oxygen which adds yet another challenge. Not to mention the possiblity of getting lost in the dust, or overrun by Wanderers. The games systems are plentiful and intricate and produce a great experience.

    The story is actually pretty darn good. In edition to a few good cutscense, "codec style" conversations as well as audio logs you find that can be listened to as you play (simular to MGSV). It's simple and leaves you alone for long periods of time in favor of focusing on gameplay, but the plot is well thought out. It has many referances to the Divine Comedy which is fun as well as some real-world conspiricies like the Philadelphia Experiment. My main complaint is the A.I. Virgel being deadpan and slow-talking.

    The co-op tower-defense mode is a complete change of pace. It is an absolute blast with friends! I'm uncertain of the replayability of it, but my friends and I played upwards of 14 hours in the beta on just 2 maps! The full game has quite a bit more so I'm willing to bet theres quite a bit of fun to still be had.

    Now the downside...The menus and controls. They aren't "terrible", but they take a LOT of getting used to. Particularly if you're on keyboard/mouse like myself. Do yourself a favor and use a controller. I've already adjusted and the percision of the mouse has its advantages, but Survive was obviously designed with controllers in mind.

    Overall, great game and amazing value at 40 bucks on release!    … Expand

    It looks great and i know this is a spin off of the Metal Gear Solid V, but its just MGS V with zombies and aspect of trying to survive like another zombie-survival game. Don't auto diss and just try it yourself.

    Well well well. I wish Konami did not send Kojima away, I wish they respected his progress and what he has done for the gaming world. I wish they supported him all the way. Metal Gear series is his biggest achievement everyone admired and now here we are playing Metal Gear survive with such heavy feelings. If you are a working person who doesn't have a lot of time to kill a single monster for hours(like monster hunter), and if you are a person who like survival horror games, both online co-op and single player campaign is really upbeat and fun, and if you are looking for a new hype just for $39 instead of $59, I totally recommend this game. Fox engine used in this game is amazing, killing zombies with variety of ways feels awesome, game mechanics work perfect and feels like you are actually hitting/stabbing the zombie literally. Yes it is repetitive, yes first few hours is really hard to survive, yes it has flaws such as having very few kind of enemies, yes having an extra save slot shouldn't cost that much game points, yes online co-op needs to have more new maps, and the off game screen interfaces(crafting items screen, healing yourself) are not easy to navigate. But in the end I play this game everyday for half an hour or so, sometimes co-op sometimes continuing the story and it still entertains me a lot since I got it a month ago.… Expand

    Why a 10? Actuall, the game is a 6-7, I just give it a 10 rating to contrast with the false 0 ratings this game has for all of those Kojima whores saying false stuff and lies about microtranscations (I have not even look in the store yet and my character is OP as hell with a minimal farming and a few rounds to Co-op) and idiotc stuff about inestability or server issues, or even glitches (something the game has not, at all).    … Expand

    What a GREAT game!!! I was planning on getting this game for just a basic fun game to play. Well I was pleasantly suprised! This game is AMAZING! It takes your typical "survival" game and BLOWS it up times 10! There are SO many aspects and things to do that are different and aren't the same ole same ole in survival games! As for the "micro-transactions" Eh - they are NOT needed to do anything different than someone who does pay for them. There are only a select few items you can buy. Basically XP boosters. So someone who buys one isn't getting an advantage from someone who did. That said - the game is only $40 as opposed to the normal $50 or $60 of a game like this. So there is your "discount" to spend on the boosters if interested! Hats off tho Konami!… Expand

    Un très bon spin-off au MGS V, niveau gameplay aucun rapport aux précédents opus mais c'est pas le but de celui là. Très bon jeu de survie, à la fois angoissant et captivant, la durée de vie est très longue, on débloque toujours plus de contenu une fois la moitié du jeu alors qu'on croit avoir fini le jeu !     Solo es un juego mas donde lo mas interesante es poner una valla y golpear enemigos a traves de la valla
    Si le hubieran puesto otro nombre estaria mejor ya que en este juego ni sigilo ni accion ni nada que caracterisa un metal gear, el unico sigilo es no hacer ruido para evitar que esos bicho te escuchen pero ni eso puedes pasar como si nada.

    I don't think this game is a 10 but I don't think this game deserves a 1 either, so here is my 10. This game is basically State ot Decay 0.5, so if you like zombie games like State of Decay where you build your base up you'll enjoy this game too. Amazing story and nice cutscenes like MGSV.

    If someone say "Aw how cute are MGS fans crying of this game, it's actually a fun game, try it once"
    I disagree, why? Then first, the way it's tower defense-like and zombie survival made it different from every previous games, the gameplay included micro-transactions made it totally worse, and third, gameplay is too limitedly with stamina mechanic.

    Survive rather than a full-featured Metal Gear reminds of a fanfiction, which wants to honour the series. Unfortunately, it gets repetitive very quickly and certainly does not take the right example from its predecessors. [Issue#284]

    The concept is solid, even if the characters can't deliver the tale appropriately. The sneaking and quick item construction elements slightly make up for a weak combat system that makes killing Wanderers a chore. The base-building and crafting is fine, but the other survival elements are overdone to the point of tedium. It isn't a great survival game, and it's not something that Metal Gear fans would flock to, making it a title that can be best described as niche.
