Medal of Honor is a beautiful game. Short but enough to make you experience the real brotherhood and sacrifice for the motherland.

Expand

Where to start, terrible combat system, terrible environment, with very poorly made NPCs that look more like robots than soldiers, it's a shame for so many incredible games that were produced by the Medal of Honor saga, from the second mission you lose interest in playing.

I am disappointed with the campaign, it had the potential. The story is uninspiring, the maps of the Afghanistan deserts were poorly detailed. The AI is pathetically dumb and makes the gunplay even more boring. They were like 3 or 4 missions that were actually good. Except that, every missions looks like the same with identical objectives.

Once updated, the game will fail to launch via Origin, you need to launch the game manually via the game installation folder again. Not a big deal, but still pretty annoying.

There is a significant input-lag for me, almost half a seconds. Running, crouching, even aiming and moving the mouse feels pretty bad. After searching on the Internet and trying everything for a bit, I find that disabling mouse acceleration improves a lot.

The campaign is short, but feels good and heroic to play. Minor glitches happens here and there, but nothing game breaking. Very nice graphics and music, the dialogues are great, the missions are good.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really liked this game. I played it several times, and each time the game touched me with something. From the death of one of the main characters to a fierce battle in the surrounding. Yes, the game had flaws, such as minor bugs, or strange weapon sounds. But for some reason, every time I returned to it at the marathon of passing old games, I did not pay much attention to them. For the most part, I focused on the plot, which tells about the events that took place in Afghanistan during Operation Anaconda, namely the most famous battle on the Takur-Ghar ridge. To summarize - the game is super, but the bumps are making themselves felt, so I can’t give a rating 10/10 Expand

Throughout gameplay you play as the U.S. Soldiers that were sent to Afghanistan as a payback shortly after 9/11 terrorist attack on WTC. Idk if I understood it correctly, but it bares kind of an anti-war meaning after all, especially the ending, though. It's not a perfect game but it had it's moment, like very emotional final defense of the squad and so on.
I'm not going any further into the story details as it's something you should experience on your own, not read on the internet. Go and try it, it's cheap and deffinietly worth its current price.

I also feel like I should say something about multiplayer. It's not full of players but there are some servers that are (mostly) active all day. It was a very bad idea to make a decision that multiplayer and singleplayer mode should be developed by two different companies. Multiplayer - developed by DICE -differs too much from the singleplayer. Naturaly, people who'd buy the game, will finish the campaign first and then move on to the multiplayer. Man, it was hell to get used to different mechanics in shooting, running, crouching, throwing grenades and pretty much everything you was thought previously.
Even guns sounds were replaced for some reason. Idk why they did it, probably deadline issue.
Nevertheless, if you finaly get used to what you're not used to after singleplayer it's still meh. Not good, not bad, just average.

I feel like it's singleplayer that makes the game worth trying. As I said, if you're an FPS games kinda guy and you're looking for something to play,
Medal of Honor is cheap, go and buy it.

Other than that, the audio/dialogue is great and for being a 2010 game, the game graphics of destruction, gun sounds and small ambient sounds make the game enjoyable. Truly the only good thing about this game is the hell fighter bomb run and ATV part. The AIM sensitivity and unoptimized screen tearing is what makes the game sometimes unplayable.

What are flaws? Lowering AIM sensitivity does nothing (it’s really fast when you move the mouse). If you try to launch the game via Origin, you will get fail launch message that states “General protection fault!” error (which they still haven’t fixed) there is no workaround this if you launch it via Origin.

You will have to play the game without Origin (by putting the game on your desktop, read down below for the steps) if you want to play the campaign. I was playing on 1920x1080 and I sensed the game was causing screen tearing during gameplay and it will sometimes do a millisecond freeze. Running/sprinting seems slow and cutscenes seem unfinished. Plus 0 achievements for PC users, only the consoles got this.

Want to play the campaign but you can’t because of the error? Go to the Drive where you installed | MoH > Origin Games > Medal of Honor > Binaries > Open “moh” file (right click and press ‘send to desktop’).

Note: In the same binarie folder, find a file named “MoHUpdater” and run that as a Admin so that you can apply the patch. If not, you will not be able to play.

The game is anything but CoD in the singleplayer. That's probably it's biggest issue. Nothing too over-the-top is happening, but the attention to detail is mind-boggling once you look into it. The story took me a good 8 hours to complete, on Hard difficulty (anything lower is just for content tourists, if you ask me), and it was indeed impressive.

Fun enough in its own way but nothing like the triumph that was the original and nothing like it could be given that this is over a decade later. Its a great example of how far the FPS genre has moved while this game seems stuck in the era the first Medal of Honor Allied Assault was released in. Todays war fps games might still have too many cliches and the same gameplay mechanics but most of the best ones make up for it in other departments like gameplay variation and extremely satisfying weapon/gun play mechanics.

Medal of Honor however doesnt bring anything to the table, from a boring amount of weapons in a abysmal short 5 hour singleplayer campaign to the same type of missions throughout where you keep assaulting forward against fodder enemies and plow them down easily to missions where youre being dictated by the friendly npcs to constantly follow evens that might aswell have been quicktime events.

The PC version is also suffering from consolitus which means you will be having a magnifying glass FOV at "55" thats bound to cause motion sickness for most me included, its something thats only changeable by searching for a third party program for the single player campaign.

The visuals arent too bad but the early night missions in the city & villages definitely look more outdated than some of the later missions. The only positive i can say about this game is that the audio & mic communication dialogue is pretty good between the npc's, it does a decent job at making you feel youre in a special team or warzone.

Theres no reason to replay this game, the single player is a flat experience thats over too quick and the weapons dont have a feel of "oomph" like the better FPS games in its release day or the years around it.

You could feel as though you were there. For that, the singleplayer was great. My gripe about it is that it can be finished in 6 hours. And I was playing on the hardest difficulty. Was the game that easy, or is it that I'm good at first-person shooters? The multiplayer, well, that's a different story. I don't know how it has been in the past, but right now, I don't like it. You frequently get spawn-killed and everyone seems to spam grenade and rocket launchers. Some say, it's a combination of Call of Duty and Battlefield. From what I played, I still haven't decided if that's a good or bad thing.

In the end, where CoD and Battlefield excels in multiplayer, MoH excels in singleplayer. Having been a fan of MoH since 2002, I don't think MoH was meant for MP. Back when the game first came out, I would definitely recommend a rental for the singleplayer. Now that the game is cheap, it's worth buying, so you can check the multiplayer and judge for yourself, but, as I've said, MoH was always a SP game. One day, I'll check on MoH:Warfighter, and see how that game was so bad, EA is putting the series on hold.

It had the odd error and unclear direction: An objective did not trigger in one place for me, and was stuck facing infinite foes until I run out of ammo.

It had the odd error and unclear direction:

An objective did not trigger in one place for me, and was stuck facing infinite foes until I run out of ammo. Ah maybe it was me, I'll reload the checkpoint. Same again. Gone through 500 rounds in a rifle that fires single shots, emptied my automatic rifle, and using pistol (that has infinite ammo.) Usually you press F next to a team-mate to get ammo, but in this scenario, they say you have plenty. Even though I am out.

Anyway I restarted the mission and I was OK. It played out that time as it should.

Helicopter work. Where in the controls does it say how to fire Hellfire missiles. IT DOESN'T. I had to google for it, after repeating stuff over and over. Next time I noticed there was a quick message flashed up on the screen with instruction how to use. I didn't see it before because I was fighting. Plus I was too busy concentrating on the ENDLESS CHATTER OVER THE RADIO.

The squelshy squaly endless rubbish banging on over the radio. It talks to you through about 2/5 of the game.

The graphics and scenery are awesome in places. It opens nicely, and the closing scenes in the mountains and snow are beautiful.

Apesar do jogo ser de 2010, é um ótimo jogo para a época.

Mediocre plot, basically "kill the Taliban/Al Qaeda/Chechnyans". Glitches galore, from the ability to cause the game to lock up and prevent progress just by killing enemies too fast, to awful physics, to improper landings and movement. Beat the game basically by M4 sniping everybody in regular missions, no need for other weapons at all, never melee'd aside from a mandatory moment in the game. "Indefinite enemy respawn until you walk up to this boulder and kill this one guy" syndrome.
The ugly: Character models, movies, and textures. I shouldn't be seeing pixellated grass every five seconds on highest settings, geez.
The verdict: Not worth the $20 it is now. If you want it, hopefully Humble Bundle'll redo their bundle for EA. Doubt it, though.

No innovation, I would barely even say it has the same engine, but it would be too offensive, because Dice and Activision have a market fight on sells.

Once more you have to kill people. Alrighty then. I like shooter games, but people there is no story. You are being dropped somewhere in Afghanistan and have there some operations without any pre-story. It can maitanly be linked to the current Terrorism searching operations... but it was boring. The story was boring. One operation was nice, the quad mission. The others are go there, kill 200 taliban, go somewhere else, let a comrade pick you up so you can play the script further, kill again 200 talibans. Go to spot C, seed a plant of weed, run back to B. Kill again 200 talibans... pretty repetitive.

Like all games of that kind it has the same problems too. Invincible walls, stupid AI. The snow there looks like an unmoded (without hd textures) Skyrim. You leave no footsteps in the snow... The game is pretty easy. I feeled like I was playing a port from a current console. The game is telling me where to go pushing H, where the enemy hides after I have not found them and of course begging your comrades for bullets. That seems... -> "if the game is too hard for you, please push button f12, DICE will gonna help you".

That was pretty much critics at all. To speak about some positive aspects the game has an awsome music/sound overlay. I played the game using a 5.1 supporting Headphones and I feeled hilarious! Awsome soundtrack, yummy!

    To sum up:
    - graphic = nothing new since 2007 => 5
    - gameplay = repetitive, boring, no plot => 2
    - sound = hilarious! => 9+

The graphics are amazing. Rather than having this vibrant cheerful battleground, you have this bleak, dusty, ultrarealistic landscape. The graphics beat battlefield 4 by 3 years. The storyline is short, but it isn't your average boring cod superhero story, it depicts all the small battles that make up the whole. The story is very emotional, and the characters have a lot of depth, compared to cod, and battlefield. And the music is amazing and very professional, rather than the average Beethoven from cod and battlefield. Although there are a couple points where you have to walk to a certain point, and when you go to that point, it doesn't do anything.
The multiplayer is great too. It is like a whole different game, but it is good. The killstreaks are way more effective, but you can't choose you're own. There is as specific ladder of scorestreaks, each more effective than the last. You can either choose an offensive scorestreak, like a mortar strike, or a cruise missile, or you can choose a defensive scorestreak, which gives you points instantly, and a bonus. The scoring is different too, rather than getting a ****load of points for one kill, you get ten. I prefer this just because it feels more rewarding to get 1000 points for 50 kills rather than 1000 points for only ten kills. Unlike cod, you can jump over whatever rock you feel like, rather than being told where you can jump. This allows for awesome hiding spots and really fun ways to sneak up on your enemy. You have endless sprint, which is unrealistic, but I miss it when I play cod. There is a lack of classes, which I find cool and challenging. The only con is the slight lag when you turn your graphic settings up. 10/10, buy it. But do not get sequel, it messes up storyline, and multiplayer sucks.

Gameplay: The game is an fps that may seem like a watered down version of Call of Duty, but it can actually hold its own ground. There’s a great mix up of gameplay from linear shoot em up type missions, to stealth missions, vehicle driving, and on rails helicopter battles. Some guns feel unrealistic, while some are good. It has the typical controls you’d expect from an FPS, it isn’t the greatest fps, but it is still worth a playthrough (sp). The multiplayer is fun but this is where the watered down version kicks in. Supposedly it’s done by DICE yet it doesn’t feel as good as their battlefield series. There aren’t any destructible environments, and it feels like an old days FPS shooter. It is still fun, but there are so many other options out that one may look the other way for Medal of Honor. 8.
Story: The story is okay, it’s based on real life undercover military that are hidden away watching Taliban activity. You’ll find yourself slowly boring away, but some characters can be memorable but they are easily forgotten. The game tries to create sad moments but never really impacts the player. A lesson may need to be learned from Call of Duty when it comes to impact/controversy. 6.5.
Lasting Appeal: The games singleplayer is very short, you can beat it in 2 sittings if you went all out. There is multiplayer but it isn’t the best. I can recommend this game but there are better options out there. 7.

As a lot of people may or may not know, the events in this game are based on real-life events. This includes the characters, as they maintain their actual military codenames that they had. When you play this game and realize that this is based on something that happened in real life, specific events and scenarios that take place during the game, especially at the end, it just wrenches you right in the heart. It's a story worth listening to, and makes the gameplay much more tolerable when you engage yourself with the story.

Though you'd probably be better off waiting for a sale, this game is by far worth picking up. It has a story to tell, it has a campaign with constantly changing events that keeps your interest peeked, it's worth checking out. I highly recommend it.

There are invisible walls everywhere and the AI on both sides is very stupid glitching on scenery and failing to trigger the next section in some cases.
On the upside it looks very nice, the voice acting is excellent as is the sound work. I liked the few bits of variety we did get (helicopters, sniper sections) but these were very limited compared to the corridor shooter of the rest of the game.
I've not tried multiplayer but frankly I can't really be bothered as I already have CoD and CS available as military shooters.

This game is probably best described as one of those big, dumb action movies that make no sense but are so fun to watch. There's basically nothing else going for this game, though. It's literally a note-for-note copy of Call of Duty, and it's not subtle about it either. The game is also criminally short at four hours; I completed it at 3 hours after I bought and installed it.

The game is definitely more realistic than the CoD franchise, with obvious pains taken to make the characters and story believable. The story of MoH itself is uninteresting, undercooked and short. The game can be finished in a mere 5 hours on normal settings, without any, and I mean ANY replay value. There aren't any collectibles, multiple paths or story elements that would encourage the player to start the game all over again. Once you have finished it semi-frustrated there is no going back to it. Frustration is a concept that will many of us have to face in MoH. The super-linear nature of the discourages any way of alternate pathfinding. To put it simple, if you don't do what the game says you to do, you're dead. Don't try to be a hero, as you always have to follow instructions to survive. If you are told to hold position, don't try to peek above the wall, because you are getting shot. If you are told to run or retreat don't try to stay and hold off the enemy as they will kill you...sometimes even behind cover.

Not is all bad about the game however. Two things stand out the most. The graphics are beautiful even on medium settings. Water, rocks, buildings and shadows look astonishing. The other thing where you have to give credit to the creators is trying to maintain authenticity. Places, soldiers, the way they talk to each other, situations all feel real to a person who is inexperienced in war situations. The game itself takes place in Afghanistan and it's plot is loosely based on the Operation Anaconda where US soldiers tried to destroy Taliban forces back in '02.

I can honestly say that I haven't seen a game that would want YOU to rush through it's single player mode. This game does. For one thing its ultra short. Experienced player can finish it in 4 to 5 hours easily, and checkpoints are so frequent that even if you happen to die, you won't be set back for more than 2 minutes of your progress. Literally, a level starts with an in-game cinematic and a shepherd is taken down silently by your fellow soldier, and boom checkpoint. Sometimes it feels like the game throws you a CP every time you reload you weapon. The level design is also horrible, excluding the first few stages, on all of the levels there is 1 hard point where you are so overwhelmed that you will die 3-10 times in 5 minutes. Up until that point and even after that there is little to no resistance. To put it gently, it's unbalanced.

When you get frustrated (and you'll get) by the SP you can try the Tier1 mode, which is unlocked once you've completed the SP on any difficulty. Basically, Tier1 is the same as the SP just with some gameplay tweaks, e.g. difficulty is set to hard and you have no restarts. Once you die, you have to start over again. There is a time limit in each level that you have to beat, and headshots will freeze the timer for a couple of seconds. To conserve time there aren't any cutscenes either. This mode really is for hardcore MoH players and I doubt that any of the one-timers will enjoy it.

And finally there is MP. Crafted from scratch with Frostbite it's completely a different game. This is the best part of the game hands down. You can choose a class with different set of weapons and level yourself up the get better in hunting down the opposition. You can engage in different type of game modes like: Team Assault (deathmatch), Sector Control (capture the flag), Clean Sweep (deathmatch without respawns) or Objective Raid (attack or defend certain assets) among others. It doesn't introduce anything new, but at least what it does, it does very well. No question that if you are an experienced FPS player you should skip the SP in its entirety and go straight to the MP to have some fun.

Rating: 55/100; Replay Value: 1/5; To Beat: 5 hours; Played on: normal.

But as you have practically unlimited ammo all the time you can also just go full auto and run around like a mental. You will still be successfull. 2 points only for nice sound and okay graphics. But for a frostbyte engine there is nearly no destructable environment. Expand

Yes its a CoD copy with a much better sound engine/shooter mechanics but with weak character development (i think im pointing this in every game i played recently...) and plot. A lot of AI malfunction and gamebreaking moments but Fun to play, i d give a 6 if it wasnt for the amazing sound engine.

"He's right there! Get him so we can move on!" Yeah, terrible AI. Enemies spawn right next to you and move awkwardly, sprinting is pretty much the same exact speed as walking, uninspired level design, 4 hour long campaign... the list goes on and on.

It's a shame. I really wanted to like this game as I'm a huge fan of the franchise. All we can hope for now is that EA can get a brain and take the franchise back to its roots... singleplayer campaign focused, no squad mates, WWII setting...

That being said, there is nothing new in this game. The gunplay is solid but nothing new, the story needed something more to be able to stand out and the linearity gets annoying sometimes.

Final verdict, Its NOT BAD but its JUST OK. Get it on a sale if you like such Modern Military Shooters.

Plus, there are a ton of glitches, some of which made me reset my checkpoint because the game stopped working. I don't understand how such a short, linear game can be so unpolished and buggy. It just shows so much laziness.

One of my biggest pet peeves is invisible walls, and they are everywhere in this game. I don't get why giving the player a little freedom scares these devs. If they wanted to make a movie they should have just done that instead of forcing me into their carefully scripted, planned out sequences. Games are about choice.

I won't complain about the length, though, because any longer and this game would have overstayed its welcome. I'm glad it was short so I didn't have to trudge through any more of it.

unfortunetly, the game is pretty short. it also has a big amount of bugs. besides this issues the game is amazing. it doesnt do a lot new but its realisticness and honor for the soldiers really make it much more than an average shooter!!!!!! buy it!!!!!

Both the multiplayer and the singleplayer are great fun and involve hugely satisfying action. Although the multiplayer provides some fast-paced action, it is mostly team work based, so if you are looking for a CoD like multiplayer experience, where you just run around aimlessly shooting whoever you see, then this game is not for you (well, not its multiplayer anyway…). Otherwise, the multiplayer provides hours of additional fun with its refreshingly challenging game play. As I’ve already mentioned, it focuses extensively on teamwork and also encourages a cover-to-cover, tactical play style. I think that this is one of the best shooters that I have played in years, definitely better than some of the latest CoD titles. Expand

Game style like Call Of Duty Modern Warfare or Battlefield 3, but never to live up to these. The story is weak and it feels incomplete without a clear purpose. The gameplay is pretty good, but neither is at the level of its competitors.

Graphically theres no complaints, although you can sometimes tell they wanted it to work on console too. Overall though.. Hiighly recommended change

Single Player (as multiplayer was for some reason made separately): A boring, excessively linear campaign with no interesting or engaging story whatsoever. The physics are terrible, and the graphics are atrocious. They wouldn't look out of place in one of the old conflict games. The enemy AI acts as though it hasn't been finished. Too many times I've seen enemy fighters casually strolling around and dying up to ten seconds after I kill them. Finally, its very short, lasting me only three and a half hours. Multiplayer: I've played this for more than eighty hours to unlock everything and get a good feel for it. My conclusion is that I wasted eighty+ hours of my life. I'll start with dev support, of which there doesn't appear to have ever been. Maps are full to the brim of rocks no taller than ankle high that you have to jump over. I've lost count of the amount of times I've died because i suddenly get stuck on them. There are also issues like gaps in walls (which obviously haven't been placed properly) which you can be shot through without being able to see your attacker. Any active devs would have patched these issues. Again, physics are awful. I've played with friends to test this, and headshots do not work. I had a friend crouch, and I shot him point blank in the head with an M16. I got a hit marker, no kill. It took a further four headshots to kill him. This repeats for every other weapon. I only ever achieved headshots when shooting just above the chest on the neck, which forgive me if I'm wrong, isn't the location of one's head. Getting kills online is just as random. Many a time I've melee'd a player, seen blood spurt from there sprite, then had them turn around and shoot me. Realism mode is a joke, and not a funny one. Even here, kills require half a clip and grenades have to be touching a player when they explode to kill. Only yesterday I found a player hiding behind a box in the corner of two walls. As i was too far away to risk breaking cover for a melee kill, i loaded up my noob tube and fired at him from around 10 feet away. Direct hit, no kill. I reloaded, closed to four feet away and fired again. Direct hit, no kill. Friendly fire is quite the opposite. Hitting a mentally challenged teammate who runs in front of you kills in as little as two shots. There is a clear difference in team and enemy health where team damage is concerned. There aren't many weapons in multiplayer, especially concerning handguns, and the ones present fire exactly the same as each other. Shotguns aren't used by anyone, as they cannot kill even at close range. Battle rifles can't kill at any range, especially the G10. Snipers are a constant issue in most maps, although when using the sniper rifle myself, I can't see why. It requires the neck-headshot for a kill, with all other shots even to the heart resulting in a lonely hit marker. Some people just spend so much time camping they get used to it, especially in Helmand Valley (worst map). The maps have been designed quite well, excepting Helmand valley, with very few spots being completely hidden. The airfield map is a favourite, though for some reason is declining on the hugely laggy community servers. They aren't designed with spawn points in mind though, as blatant spawn killing is easy and frequent on all maps. The tower at the end of the airfield actually looks over the final enemy spawn point. Cheating is also quite an issue. I've personally watched three aimbot users randomly turning around super-fast and getting neck-headshots. I personally keep a list of rude, abusive or cheating players, and it is dominated by MoH players. Every time I play with any of them their K/D's are sky high and killing them just doesn't work. Obviously many would say. 'get over it, you're probably wrong', which may be true, but four of those people i wrote down have since been banned after being caught cheating on certain servers. Finally, walls. Again. Bullets penetrate every wall in the game without losing power. Rocks (?!) have the same problem. There is no such thing as cover in this game. Pre-order weapons aren't available even now, even as DLC. Obviously this means most players are denied some cool weapons to break up the monotony of the same boring weapons over and over, and the devs miss an obvious source of income. Conclusion: The devs got bored. That has to be it. This reminds me of Breach in that it has excellent potential, but has been abandoned in a vanilla state with soooooo many issues. I wish I could get my 80 hours refunded. And as for the common argument of those who post 10's (?!), the game is about as realistic as Magicka. It is nothing like the situation in Afghanistan, has no realistic physics and no convincing story or graphics. Please present a viable argument. Oh, and watch out for 1RCN servers. Half the guys flashing their tag have hacked or ignore hackers. Expand

The campaign was fairly short (decent length for a shooter), but it was well done. This is definitely a story-driven FPS, and it pulls it off well. The ending was actually quite touching, and I absolutely loved how they dedicated the game to all the unsung heroes laying their lives on the line every day.
