Set in the Pacific Theatre of Operations from 1941-1944, players will assume the role of Marine recruit Tom Conlin as he survives the attack on Pearl Harbor, leads the assault on Guadalcanal, and finally charges up the beaches for the climatic battle at Tarawa. Armed with their wits and a variety of authentic weapons, it's up to players to stop the Japanese war machine in its tracks. Medal of Honor Pacific Assault follows the tradition of previous Medal of Honor products with a brand new arsenal of weapons, new enemies, and new storyline. In addition, Pacific Assault features new multiplayer modes in which up to 32 players can choose soldiers from American, British, Japanese, and other armies. [Electronic Arts] Expand

  1. This game is a must for fans of history or gaming, offering up a blend of both in a package worthy of Medal of Honor's excellent reputation.
  2. We haven't heard more moving music in a game before. EA hired a real orchestra to play the songs and the results are very well done and help fit the somber mood most of the missions you go on.
  3. On the plus side the Pacific theatre of WW2 is a fresh view of that same old war, everything is about as authentic as it can get without sacrificing playability, and the new features do well to break up what easily could have been yet another WW2-themed FPS. However, the clipping errors, other aggravating issues, and rather weak-sounding weaponry do detract from the overall experience.
  4. If you can't get enough of the WW2 action found in previous MOH and COD titles, then MOH: Pacific Assault will suit up well, but for everyone else, particularly those who like more variation in their FPS gaming, Pacific Assault isn't really a must have title.
  5. At times claustrophobic, with intensely quiet and loud moments, this is a game that fans of the series will welcome.

If there had been more variation on mission type, enemy AI hadn't cheated, and the feel of the weapons had been more solid, the gameplay could have lived up the awesome presentation value that the rest of the package promised.

This is another ugly blunder. Pacific Assault demonstrates that bewildering battle scenes are no equal for clever level design and attention to detail. [Christmas 2004, p.92]

The fighting, movies and special effects are perfect fun. The music and weapons are just plain great. Feels like money well spent to me, so I don't see a reason not to give it a 10. Expand

The campaign is very interesting, because there is a lot of action and it shows the world war on the pacific side and not the boring western Europe side. The first mission on the beach and Pearl Harbor are perfect, but later the game is only good, because the AI is not good. Anyway the gameplay is good, I like the health regeneration system, where you can call the medic anytime, but you can call him only 4 times per sequence.

Of course you need to know that the story is US propaganda and it lacks extremely important background information, for example that the attack on Pearl Harbor was known by the US government and they did nothing, because they wanted to sell a good reason to the people to join the war. In addition the reason of Japan to attack USA was not perfidiousness like Roosevelt told in his speech. Japan was cut off crucial resources by the blockade of US and they were forced to attack.

There are other flaws also: The characters and the dialogues are boring. The game should show more background information about the war in my view.

Severely mediocre. The core gameplay is there, and feels like a PC version of European Assault (a better game), but feels a bit more tacticalSeverely mediocre. The core gameplay is there, and feels like a PC version of European Assault (a better game), but feels a bit more tactical due to being able to command your squad. However, this point becomes all but null due to the utterluly inept AI. Weapons are weak, sound is all overcompressed and sounds pretty sub-par. Game has no effective pacing, and drags some segments (like a part where you fight off literally more than 300 soldiers on a hill) and ends some abruptly. The graphics are alright for the time, with some especially good particle effects, shaders, and water. However, textures are fairly muddy and low-res. Like most Medal of Honor games, it has excellent music. Environments are all jungles and villages with no variety, but maps are big and can be fun and tense to explore and fight in. The worst thing about this game is the loading screens... even on a modern machine (8 core CPU, GTX 760) loading screens take several minutes. They happen every level and every time you die, and its absolutely infuriating.

Overall, its not terrible, but its terribly mediocre. MoH is one of my favorite series, but this is definitely a weak entry.
