Game is very fun, being able to direct your creative energy into making cool creations. Mechanic Miner would be a 10 if not for these two main points:
Progression too linear.

Lack of content.
For the few years this game was in early access, there wasn't much content but the developers kept updating the game over time adding new cool features, but then they quickly patched together a very short story mode and just abandoned the game. with less than 50 total items, this game is very limited (although you can argue that the limited item palette creates new creative solution) and the story is disappointingly short. The main gameplay loop is quite limited and boring which is stuck to mining, and combat, with only 5 stages of progression behind multiple bosses which unlocks nothing more than a new form of movement.
I'd like to put this game side by side with a much better game called Scrap Mechanic. Both came out near the same time in early access, both made a crude version survival near the same time. They were both practically the same game (scrap mechanic having an extra dimension of course), however near 2019 the games diverged in development. The development team behind Mechanic Miner rushed to finish the story mode, put the game out of early access, then after one small bugfix after the empty 1.0 release, the game was completely abandoned. This was going on while Axolotl Games was busy developing Scrap Mechanic filling it in more and more, continuously adding polish and will hopefully become a masterpiece.
