    Un claro ejemplo de cómo seguir e innovar un videojuego, de ves en cuando se torna lento pero tiene grandes escenas, no fue mejor que la anterior pero no fue peor de lo esperado, simplemente fue una buena 2 parte que pone todo lo de Max Payne anterior y lo mejora, recomendable al 100%

    Pros:
    • The comic-book cutscenes make a return and they are even better then in the first game. This is mainly due to Remedy being able to afford real actors this time around so the quality it looks better in return.
    • Max Payne 2 is still a dark game like the original, not as dark this time around, but still quite dark.
    • Characters are still excellent in this game and many characters such as Max, Mona and Vladimir make a return.

    Cons:
    • The story sadly is much weaker compared to the Max Payne 1. As the first game went really deep into the events and actions taken that drove Max to the edge. In 2 it's really just doesn't feel so deep into the character of Max and when it does it's execution comes off begging for more.
    • The twists as well really don't feel all that significant and character motivations don't feel that genuine and more for the sake of continuing the plot.

    Gameplay:

    Pros:
    • Bullet time and shoot dodge have been improved and feels more powerful and easier to control... perhaps too easy. But it's just a blast mowing down enemies in bullet time and feeling like a one man army bad-ass.
    • Using grenades, molotovs and even melee has now been mapped to a key of your choice so you can throw/melee much easier now.
    • New weapons are fun to use and the old returning ones feel great as well.

    Cons:
    • Compared to the original, bullet time physics has gotten crazy. You can now literally shoot enemies in the air in bullet time. It's entertaining don't get me wrong, but for a game like Max Payne it's a bit odd seeing it.
    • The game is only 4/6 hours which is a real let down compared to the first game. You can play the game again on the different "difficulties" and unlock the alternative ending. Unfortunately it will probably be even shorter playing it again.
    • The set piece moments of the game feel more restrictive and less interesting compared to the quick paced gunfights you engage in for most of the game. The escort parts were not that enjoyable to say the least.

    Sound and Music:
    Pros:
    • Voice acting is once again excellent with great dialogue and performances all around.
    • Music has improved from the first game. There is more of it and it sounds less repetitive which was the problem with the first game. I have to say I love the theme in Max Payne 2. That cello really adds such a grim, bleak, depressing, but deep emotional passion to it.
    • Sound effects have improved as well from gunshots, weather, debris falling or fire. It all sounds solid.

    Performance and Visuals:

    Pros:
    •This game looks fantastic for 2003. Improved massively from the first game and character models look really good now with properly animated faces and bodies that look well modeled.
    • In-game cutscenes look a lot better to. Camera angles, animations and audio have really helped them more attractive to watch compared to the few in the first game.
    • The depiction of New York and the environment is still amazing and it's been improved. You can interact with your surroundings as well. I also love to watch the TV shows that mimic what's going on in the game world and references the other ideas Remedy had for Max Payne's name which is a awesome touch.
    • Ran solidly and had no issues getting the steam version running (unlike Max Payne 1).

    Cons:
    • Had an odd flickering texture, but extremely minor problem.

    Verdict: It's hard to decide if Max Payne 1 or 2 is better because they both are great third person shooters. Max Payne 2 certainly has the greater gameplay, graphics and performance was solid. However, it really lacks in the deep story from the original which is such a damn shame. But it;s still a great game and I would rate it slightly higher then Max Payne 1.

    Amazing game still in 2019!

    This game blew my mind when first released. The story and the devilry of this story mixed with the amazing game play make this a must play.

    Would be a 10 if i didn't complete it in 4 hours...

    Technically speaking, the game improved greatly compared to its predecessor released 2 years earlier. This time though, I didn't need to patch the game. It was fully playable, without glitches.     A longer solo campaign would have been preferred, especially considering Max Payne 1's solo ranging from 10-13 hours of play time.

    + Max Payne returns. This is a direct sequel to the    A Remedy classic and one of my personal favorites. The story-telling is some of the best you’ll find in a video-game of any genre.     + Max Payne returns. This is a direct sequel to the first game, and picks up right after the first one left off. Remedy perfectly duplicates the earlier game’s dark, broody atmosphere. The comic panels (instead of cut-scenes) are back.
    + Old characters return. Bravura, Mona Sax, Vlad, Vinnie. But they don’t all return in ways you might expect.
    + Story. While Max had his revenge in the first game, he is still not at peace with himself. And falling for a femme fatale leads to massive feelings of guilt and betrayal towards his dead loved ones. The nuts-and-bolts of the story delve into the workings of the “Inner Circle.” While this secret society was and is one of the hokier aspects of the first two Max Payne games, it remains an effective backdrop for Max’s tale of depressed angst.
    + Swapping narrative. I loved the simultaneous story-telling, and playing as Mona Sax for a few levels.
    + Slow-motion Shoot-dodge is back.
    + Secondary weapons. Allows for melee or the throwing of grenades or molotovs without switching weapons (unlike the first Max Payne game).
    + Atmosphere and visuals. While only running DirectX 8, light and shadow play to great effect. Texture quality is greatly improved from the first game as well. Though obviously old by now, the release date of 2003 is still a surprise, as Max Payne 2 looks much better than that.

    +/- Enemies have much better aim than in the first game. Health is plentiful, though.

    - Shotguns are much less powerful.
    - Install the game to your C drive (or wherever your operating system is located) and run in Windows 95 compatibility mode or the game may not start.
    - 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions are only available by modding a config file. Additional modification is necessary to alter the HUD so it isn’t distorted / stretched at 16:9 resolutions. If your modding is successful, Max Payne 2 looks and plays great at 1080p and 60fps.
    - Short. Speed-runs can beat the game in less than an hour (there is a timed mode, call “New York Minute”). More casual playthroughs will rarely take more than 6 hours, even if you stop to watch all the TV shows.

    Max Payne 2 is one of my favorites, and the game wears its age well. Sad that gaming reached such a high point so early in its history. It’s one of those games that needs a little tweaking to work properly on modern systems, but I don’t want an official remastered edition because I’m worried something would be altered in the process. In addition I didnt like how weak Max was behaving related to Mona: always thinking about her... like a teenie. Not reliable either.

    Pero iré al grano resumiendo muy brevemente para que sepan algo de el, Bueno, Max Payne es un detective privado de New York, su mujer y su hija fueron asesinadas.
    Desde entonces Max deicidio buscar al responsable para vengarse de el, pero en el camino se encuentra con otro delincuentes que    Que decir de Max Payne... la verdad que me quedaría corto de decir quien es y como fue su historia.

    Una historia no tan intrigante como la del primero, pero que es bastante buena, graficos mejorados, Max Payne sigue siendo carismatico, el gameplay se pulido bastante y los enemigos son mas variados. Me parece la obra maestra de esta saga, recomendable para cualquier persona incluso a dia de hoy

    Great as the first game. The story becomes even more beautiful thanks to mona sax. The relationship between max and mona is really interesting. Graphics, gameplay, character designs really have improvement. I think some players complain that the game is short, there is enough time for the game.

The graphics got a big improvement as well as other mechanics. The voice acting i still amazing and it keeps the comic cutscenes. The gameplay isn't as awkward as before thanks to improved hitboxes and bullet trajectories, a sense of realism surrounds the game because of physics simulations like ragdoll effects, and the identity of the series has been given a new facelift thanks to higherMax Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne improves on everything which made the first game great and even surpasses it in some aspects. The gameplay isn't as awkward as before thanks to improved hitboxes and bullet trajectories, a sense of realism surrounds the game because of physics simulations like ragdoll effects, and the identity of the series has been given a new facelift thanks to higher production values. Overall, an excellent action game that's worthy of the Max Payne name and fans will be happy with this installment. However, if you're new to the series or have only played the Rockstar-made entry, you won't get as much from this game and everything will just look like a confusing mess. Max Payne 2 is a story-centric game and it builds on what fans and players of the first game already knows. This time around, the true intentions of the first game's major players are shown and reveals a new side to them, making them more believable rather than being a one-sided cliche of a character. The story focuses on Max after the events of the first title as he reflects on his past choices and how he copes up with the decisions that he's made. I highly suggest that new players play the first game or watch a recap video because without knowledge of the characters' background and the events leading up to this game, the story becomes much less impactful and you won't get much out of it because of its focus on the cast rather than plot.

    Improvements that I've noticed:
    1. Better voice actors than the first game and their performances are consistent except for some select moments.
    2. The new soundtrack is great, especially "Late Goodbye" by Poets of The Fall which is featured prominently in the game.
    3. Still linear but bigger levels with the inclusion of optional explorable rooms make it seem less so.
    4. Very serious story with comedic undertones. Sam Lake and Remedy somehow managed to make the virtual enemies that you're killing appear human in nature rather than just fodder that blocks your way. They laugh, they share jokes and share experiences with their friends, they also play the piano real good - very small details delivered in a very funny way but it still makes a lot of difference for the personal story that they're presenting to the player.

Pretty much everyone is back from the original Max Payne and we get to see the aftermath of bringing Aesir Corp. down    "The case was a rising nausea that tasted like rust in my mouth."

    Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne brings our favourite bloodied and worn NYPD cop back in great fashion with better visuals, new takes on storytelling and the same old stellar voice acting all around. Pretty much everyone is back from the original Max Payne and we get to see the aftermath of bringing Aesir Corp. down along with Horne, it has been two years according to the wiki. This time around there are 2 main protagonists that you control which offers some interesting segments of teamwork from the two characters to get through seemingly grave situations.
    The gameplay is pretty much the same with a few tweaks and upgrades making for an even smoother experience this time around. When Max dives you can now continue to stay laying down until you let the trigger go which is definitely a welcome addition. There are definitely more painkillers to be found in Max Payne 2 as well which is fine because it is definitely a challenge at some points. All around this is a proper sequel to a cult classic expanding on the world of Max Payne and you should definitely play through the whole trilogy.

    As a note, the game will take some tweaking to get working as you would like and there are some cool mods like the Max Payne 3 mod which I may try in my next playthrough.

It makes no attempt to alter the gameplay, and didn't need to- the first game's action was solid, as was its atmosphere and music, both back in full force here (including a Poets of the Fall song) But it does expand Max's story in surprising directions. A mysterious assassin,Max Payne 2 is a triumph in third-person shooters, building strongly upon the foundation built by it's predecessor. It makes no attempt to alter the gameplay, and didn't need to- the first game's action was solid, as was its atmosphere and music, both back in full force here (including a Poets of the Fall song) But it does expand Max's story in surprising directions. A mysterious assassin, thought dead. Old friends become new enemies. The machinations of powerful men, dwelling in shadow. And in the middle of it all, Max Payne is trapped, still madly running from his past and his memories, and desiring death, finds instead a reason to live again. But Max is the consummate Noir protagonist, a survivor, cursed to emerge unscathed from the fires of his personal hell again and again. And it wouldn't end here, thanks to Rockstar.… Expand

    This game has got amazing story as in all Max Payne Games and I think all Max Payne Games deserve 10/10 and Max Payne 2 and 3 I appreciated on 10/10 . I think Max Payne 2 and Max Payne 3 (Special Max Payne 3) enter in top 20 best games in world, but Max Payne 2 is awesome on PC . On Xbox and PS2 not really good . The shooting feels excellent and cinematic in a way that many modern games still fail to replicate, It's still as fundamentally simple as the previous one, involving lots of bad guys, guns, ammo, and painkillers, but it has aSlicker and smoother than the first game, it polishes off a lot of the rough edges while telling a new and equally brutal story just as dramatic as the previous one. The shooting feels excellent and cinematic in a way that many modern games still fail to replicate, It's still as fundamentally simple as the previous one, involving lots of bad guys, guns, ammo, and painkillers, but it has a little more heart and a little less frustration than before. Max is as appealing of a haunted protagonist as ever, and somehow even more badass in this one, and the overall story is pulpy, dramatic deliciousness for someone who eats up this kind of style.

    I've honestly never found a game so re-playable due to it's narrative. The pace, the structure and plot-line itself captivate me, as much as any well-made film would. This game excels in both story-telling and character development, perfectly capturing the correct atmosphere to homage the film-noir genre, whilst still implementing fun and exciting action gameplay.     Esta secuela mejora todo, la historia,la jugabilidad, vuelve mas real los disparos a la cabeza que ahora si matan de una.

    Es una refinación del anterior, la historia es mucho mejor, tiene sus toques de comedia, y ya no sientes que estas completamente solo, ahora sientes que tienes aliados aparte de enemigos que no paras de matar.     Es una refinación del anterior, la historia es mucho mejor, tiene sus toques de comedia, y ya no sientes que estas completamente solo, ahora sientes que tienes aliados aparte de enemigos que no paras de matar. En mi opinión puedes saltarte Max Payne 1 y venir a este. Hasta tienen una escena para decir lo que paso antes, y los niveles son mejores.     Very good sequel. Not bringing anything innovative anymore as the original Max Payne did, but offering a similar experience, fun gameplay is still intact and playing as Mona was a nice refreshment. 8/10

    For being a sequel it is a great improvement in almost all areas of the game but the only downside of this game was the length of the game. Remedy did a great job and Max payne deserves the praise it gets, being the most enjoyable action type shooter. Though there is a problem if it is bought on steam because the game can't run from steam because it is required to have a specific video card driver or a sound driver to launch it from steam, and because of this it is better to buy the game and install it outside Steam. I was looking forward to replay this game often and quick install it on Steam when I wanted but unfortunatley I can't because for some reason Amd can't make drivers that is compatible with older games like Max Payne.… Expand

    When this game got released 2003 this was one of the best games out there. Remedy Entertainment did good job on this sequel. Rockstar games ONLY published this they didn't have anything else to do with this game.

(He wrote the story for Max Payne 1 and 2 and the lyrics for ''Late Goodbye'' Max Payne 2 ending song) The story's great with showing how Max copes with the grief of his murdered wife and baby daughter.

    The second chapter of one of the most epic trilogies in the entire history of videogames and a female character to die for. The movie was bad but it didn't kill the franchise and every kiddo who just watched the movie without playing this game should immediately... REMEDY to this. Got it? Remedy.

The game is well made but there are specific gameplay elements that don't work in any circumstance. The slow motion evading is great but it never seems useful, the maps don't allow for it to be used beneficially. The shooting isn't that exciting either, blasting through enemies alwaysMax Payne 2 seems to have a lot of potential but I just can't see how it sustains such great reviews.     One of the best games ever made in my opinion, let alone best sequel. Story is fantastic, and even though I already knew the whole story (due to spoilers on the internet and such), I almost cried at the end of it. Best in the Max Payne series, and you should get on steam and buy this. I mean, it's only like $15. SERIOUSLY. DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!

    My First PC Game played 4yrs ago! My favourite shooter game which has a thrilling story, a confused protagonist, but most importantly a coherent plot which was a bit cheesy in a few places but i still loved it!

The only bad thing about this is that it's extremely short (I can beat it in 3 hours), but the several hours you'll get from playing the story are breathtaking. The story is amazing. Also, it is very moddable, so you can download all kinds of mods from the Internet. Try Payne Effects 3.

    They added physics to this game and WOW it works very well and it actually adds a lot to the game and it is very helpful, like pushing an explosive barrel towards an enemy and then blowing it up, or if a dead enemy's weapon gets stuck in some edge just shoot it a couple times for it to fall in your hands.
    This game is outstanding and I just can't tell which game is better the 1st Max Payne or the 2nd one, they are both just perfect.
    But still, I wonder what would of happen to the series if Remedy kept making the games... Hmmm... Max's face from the first game in the third one...    … Expand

    A vastly superior game to the already promising original. This game refines in all the right ways, tells a great story and feels great to play. Even by today's standards. It might still be the best implementation of bullet time in a game. It also ditches some of the more clunky aspects of the original - leading to it being more timeless.

    Rockstar again delivers a game with an engaging, deep and complex storyline, all told in a top-notch storytelling. If you played Max Payne, be sure to grab this one. Despite the easier combat than its predecessor, it's still a masterpiece. For a 2011 gamer such as myself, I'm still amazed with what Rockstar did. Just don't watch the movie.

    i loved this game, it fixed all the little things i didnt like in the first, and adds a lot of new things, the voice acting is still awsome (the voice actor for max is one of the best ive ever heard) the story seems to have gotten better, the weapons still feel powerfull and usefull. in the end if you loved the first one, this is a must buy.

    A fine sequel to the original Max Payne. Game mechanics are intuitive, story is compelling and the cinematic format is still unique and engaging. Once immersed it is hard to quit the game. Certainly makes a gamer anticipate the next installment...:)

    This is one of the best games I ever seen. There are so many features, but something I would like to add, is the fact of the clips stay in the floor, the bullet marks and blood stains too. For the entire level. Holy ... and it doesn't lag the pc with that. Also, if you like plot/storyline you'll get enthrilled with this game. The story is by far one of the best I ever seen too.

The cornball film noir story is a treat. The sounds and music are superb. Mona Sax is an awesome anti-heroine; and for sheer butt-kicking sexy, I'd take her over Alyx Vance or Laura Croft any day of the week. Truth be told, some levels are narrow and poorly designed, and there is plenty of re-hashing of environments. But some maps (and the action embedded therein) are so creative and memorable that the game overcomes whatever negatives it could be charged with. Playing the same level twice, once from Mona's perspective, once from Max's is pure pleasure. The Funhouse level deserves to be in the computer game map hall of fame. I could go on an on. If for some reason you haven't played MP2 and you've got ten bucks to spend, search the 'value game' section or the bargain bin and pick up MP2. By the way, there will be no MP3-- Alan Wake will be the next Remedy game, built on essentially the same formula.     A couple years back, I tried the demo, and I liked it; but, I never really got into the game. Only reason being is that I was really into more of a science fiction action. I wouldn't go far back as to buy the first Max Payne, 2003 is a good borderline for gamers who like newer games. But, for the price it is on Steam now, it was well worth it. The graphics are dated, but for its time, they were quite an advance, and they also still capture the games atmosphere well. I think after playing Half Life 2 so much, I can almost compare it, although being slightly dumbed down, as things are a bit off scale at times. I think any computer these days will be able to Max :) the graphics, and enjoy the full well done detail. The level design is tight, and some surreal level design for dream sequences or other misc things, were artistically thought out. The action like most 3rd person action games, feels a bit clunky at times, and takes some getting used to. But, still manages to be very enjoyable. The best part is the hardened detective story, and its well told, along with great voice acting on all parts. When an action game that is linear tries to tell a story, it has to do it well. Max Payne 2 has an entertaining, realistic, and enjoyable story all the way.… Expand

She was dead. But that was all right." (it's shaking me again while writing this.) The alternate ending on "Dead on Arrival" Mode is ... ok ... but a too hollywood styling Happy End. But that's not the point. If I had to decide between nowadays titles like Crysis or a Max Payne 2, i will choose Max every single time, just too really "feel" this whole story with ups and downs. Max Payne 2 is the most perfect game up to today. And since Max Payne 3 was announced, i'm praying they won't let this series digging it's own grave. It would be a mess for me.… Expand

Contrary to the first, Max won't go and attack the government head first and blow up every single building he enters. Instead, this starts with an investigation and the death of a woman ("like all bad things in my life..."). Max then gets involved so deeply with the case that it costs him the loss of trust by his closest friends. Then, those he first meddled with come back to him and the miraculous survivor struggles again against all odds to find the truth in the dark. But how deep will he have to dig? Some moments are perplexing yet others are very obvious. Everything is not what it seems and Max finds himself caught into dreams that are creepier one after the other. I admit that some dreams with the correct sound devices and a night alone in a basement can give you the creeps. The gameplay itself shows how the characters you fight are but dummies with big guns. What's lame? Well, the fact that you can clear a room by running head first into the pack and with a full bullet-time gauge. I mean this at ANY point at all in the game. What would have been good also would have been the change in weaponry. You often end up seeing the same weapons everywhere. I mean, sure, it's gangsters against highly trained killers, but why do they all fight the same way with the same weapons? Everything seems so chaotic that Max himself looks lost at most points in the game. Finishing the game makes you breathe a little because the last intense moments are quite silly for the most part. This isn't a game to use your brain with. It's a game that works like an action movie and a depressing scenario with lugubrious music to join it. I will say that Max has Mel Gibson looks on some shots. Wonder why Mel won't be playing him in the movie?… Expand

    A very good game actually, pretty good graphics and not that bad storyline. Even though the whole game is about shooting people, you dont really get bored of it, because of the amazing ragdoll, people never die the same way. If you in addition, after completing the game, install a mod or two, you will get lots of fun. I never really got tired of the game.

    This game is just awesome. I mean, I played it three times through as it was released and lately(March 2k7) I was bored of the new games and installed MP2 and played it again. It is even now an awesome. The graphics are still very nice to look at (especially the Bullet-Time!), the story is still top-notch. I just love it. I love Max Payne. A character you empathize with.

    The sequel is an excellent produce that improves over the original game by eliminating the most frustrating parts from the dreaming sequences. A little masterpiece with a great soundtrack by Poets of the Fall.

And lastly it was kind of short - I was almost surprised when I realized I had played out the final scene.     Not normally a fan of 3rd person perspective in games ( I like to BE the character, not a puppeteer controlling one from the ceiling ) the original of this game hooked me. And this sequel did not disappoint...in fact, it is even better than the first.     What have we come to, that 12 hours of gaming heaven is considered short? Go back and play the classics, people! You can beat Mario in less than half that! Do the math, it comes to some 4 or 5$ per hour, cheaper than the latest Hollywood drivel (and you can sell a game back). It was a good story, great voice acting and beautiful artwork, awesome action. Can't wait for 3!

You'll also get about 6 hours of the same gameplay formula which made Max Payne fun at first but which, after the hundredth repetition of the all-too-common "enter room, get shot, die, quickload, repeat" scenario, For starters, if you spend your $30 or whatever on this game, you'll get some of the most impressively realistic-looking graphics in any game currently available. You'll also get about 6 hours of the same gameplay formula which made Max Payne fun at first but which, after the hundredth repetition of the all-too-common "enter room, get shot, die, quickload, repeat" scenario, results in boredom and immense frustration. In addition, you'll get a plot which, while sounding promising, simply does not match up to the original. I rarely felt any kind of chemistry between the lead characters, which is crucial for the love story aspect to succeed, and the remainder of the plot wasn't nearly as compelling as Max's original quest for vengeance. The 6 score is mainly for the graphics, which are awesome. Otherwise, you'd be well advised to spend your money elsewhere.… Expand

    I just bought the game (Max Payne 2 The fall of Max Payne ), and installed the disk, but a sreen comes up that i need a Directx 9.0 compatible display adapter. It's not my computer & i'm stupid when it come to technical mumbo jumbo, where do i download or where do i buy that at. please help.......

    Holy SHORT!!! I beat this game in 2 days!!! The game was a lot of fun and the detail is amazing, but not worth the money at all. It needed to be twice as long.

    The game is great! There are some very funny and clever elements added. The story is scripted well and most importantly the game has the key element so many other miss, it is FUN TO PLAY!!!

    I was a huge fan of the first Max Payne but the second took all of the great aspects of the first, and cut out all fat. Much better job with the dreams, graphics, and bullet time. Just the minute details that you see during game play is enough to blow u away.
