    Mass Effect 2 is maybe the best sci-fi game ever made. Despite some repetitive sections (like the scanning minigame) the game is absolutely amazing. The story and the characters are incredibly well-written. The gameplay is fun, full of choices and far superior than the gameplay of the original Mass Effect. The graphics were very polished for its time. And the sound design is in a very highMass Effect 2 is maybe the best sci-fi game ever made.     Mass Effect 2 is the sequel to a brilliant game and does things a little differently. It's more gameplay focused than the first one (and the gameplay is a lot better) and they've got rid of some of the RPG elements, but the story and game is still amazing to this date!

More of a third-person-shooter with RPG elements instead of a “regular” RPG, the missions, voice-acting, music, combat, and graphics come together for an unforgettable ride. Mass Effect 2 is BioWare’s high water mark and theMass Effect 2 takes the story and characters from the first game and adds an even better story and more characters with a darker, almost noir / horror overtone. More of a third-person-shooter with RPG elements instead of a “regular” RPG, the missions, voice-acting, music, combat, and graphics come together for an unforgettable ride. Mass Effect 2 is BioWare’s high water mark and the pinnacle of the developer’s “golden age.” A less than ideal DLC situation tempers the enthusiasm, but only a little.

    ++ That final mission. What missions you have completed (or haven’t!), what upgrades you installed (or didn’t!), who you assign to certain tasks as part of the mission – the fate of your crew literally rests on your decisions.

    + Mass Effect 2 assembles a fantastic cast of diverse characters. Several return from the first game (like Garrus and Tali), while the new additions all have unique personalities and back stories. Including DLC, there are TWELVE possible squad-mates.
    + The stakes are high. With the rest of the galaxy closing their eyes to the Reaper threat that manifested in the first Mass Effect game, Shepard is the only person with the opportunity to halt the coming invasion.
    + Character missions. While saving the galaxy is well and good, helping your team become focused for the final battle involves the completion of individual “loyalty missions.” Lots of variety here, from pursuing a gang lord through a burning factory (Zaeed’s mission), to exploring the rubble of the krogan homeworld (Mordin’s mission) to fighting the criminal underworld in the backstreets of Ilium (Miranda’s mission), you’ll be taken many places as you help the members of your squad find a small measure of peace.
    + The voice acting is some of the best in a video game. In addition to the return of series regulars voiced by Mark Meer / Jennifer Hale, Keith David, Brandon Keener and Seth Green, the supporting cast includes Martin Sheen (yes, THAT Martin Sheen), Yvonne Strahovski, Claudia Black, Adam Baldwin, Tricia Helfer, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Michael Hogan.
    + Great soundtrack. Jack Wall & crew kept the synth base of the previous Mass Effect soundtrack, but added more orchestra and bigger Hollywood-style heroic themes.
    + Good graphics (Unreal 3). While not Crysis, still some of the best visuals of its time. Low-res textures aside, they hold up well.
    + Ability to import saves from Mass Effect 1. Several of the decisions you made in the first game have an impact here.

    +/- Greatly improved combat over the first Mass Effect game. Weapons have decent heft, while individual weapons feel and sound different from each other (even if the damage they do is largely similar). Gone, though, is the unlimited ammunition of the previous game; now we have “thermal clips,” which makes the gunplay much like every other shooter out there. The tactical pause menu is present, and is still useful, as companion AI is still not the best.
    +/- The Mako rover (and planetary exploration) is gone. Rejoice, ye who hated the Mako.
    +/- Mass Effect 2 is a complete experience without DLC. Several DLC are great adventures (Lair of the Shadow Broker, Kasumi, Arrival, Overlord), but aren't included with the base or Deluxe editions.

    - No, the Deluxe Edition does NOT include all the DLC.
    - The DLC is pricey. Buying ALL the available, non-free DLC will cost $25 on the Origin store.
    - Logging in to EA’s “Cerberus Network” is required to play with DLC installed.
    - Capped at 62 fps. This can be unlocked via a config file.
    - Load times are oddly high.
    - RPG elements are greatly reduced / gone. Skills and talents are extremely streamlined. Using one skill puts ALL of the skills on cool-down, forcing you to create combos with your squad (in the first Mass Effect, using a skill triggered a cool-down for only that skill). The loot and inventory management is completely gone; instead Shepard finds credits, medigel, the occasional weapon and “various industrial bits” (seriously, that’s what some scrap is called).
    - Forced sequence of missions. Unlike the first Mass Effect, which allowed you to play the primary missions in any order, Mass Effect 2 tiers the primary missions in prescribed stages. My understanding is that the game was forced into this format so console players wouldn’t need to keep swapping discs.
    - The famous “climbing bug” can happen anywhere, any time Shepard makes contact with terrain. It has never been patched. Quick-save often.

    Mass Effect 2 is a superb sequel and one of the great narrative-driven space adventure games. It would easily be worth the asking price, but the pricey DLC means you should only get it when on sale for 75% off. EA is mercilessly milking a fantastic game because they know they have a true classic on their hands, and they know that people will pay to experience it. *smh*    … Expand

    True Masterpiece made by Bioware. Probably the best Bioware game so far outrunning many other great titles. I don't think there is much more to say if you like Mass Effect you will love this game. 10/10

I wasn't expecting anything good from BioWare after they proven that they've entirely became EA's slave and console fodder provider instead of awesome RPG developer. But Mass Effect 2 is a surprisingly decent game.
    Not so grindy side quests (globes probing is still a grind however), not so trashy action    This game was a great surprise for me after a huge disappointment of Mass Effect 1. I wasn't expecting anything good from BioWare after they proven that they've entirely became EA's slave and console fodder provider instead of awesome RPG developer. But Mass Effect 2 is a surprisingly decent game.
    Not so grindy side quests (globes probing is still a grind however), not so trashy action (thanks for allowing my biotic adept to use something besides pistol) and greatly simplified equipment management made it much less painful to play. It still has some of fundamental issues that just can't allow a game like this to be a truly entertaining masterpiece, but developers also handled some of these problems I wasn't even hoping to see fixed. It even offers you a self-sufficient story that doesn't only feeds you with expectations.
    Finally, the most important improvement of all is that you can just end your story here. Don't waste your time on side quests, ignore your whining teammates, just run through the game and enjoy a bittersweet ending which is billions time better than RGB abomination of Mass Effect 3. That rare occasion when your actions have real consequences. Trust EA and their slaves and witness the trilogy of grandiose disappointment. Ignore their lies and enjoy a pretty decent dilogy. How ironic.

    The characters became more interesting and much better written, the plot began to twist around these characters. A lot of new cool moments, and the next saving the world give this game a place in my personal library the best games of all time.

    I never thought I would get immersed into the game world and that I will care about game characters this much.
    In short - my best sf RPG experience so far next to witcher 3 - I just love the characters and I already have multiple playthroughs after me. I dont think I will ever get bored with this game.

    Mass Effect 2 is like the perfect pizza. Impossible to stop eating. It is an unbelievable journey, and much more than worth the time. It does everything perfectly.

    The Best Mass Effect game. The Best companions, the Best music, the Best variety of endings, the Best dialogue.
    I recommend to play or replay this one instead of ugly, 1 ending, boring, non-effort Andromeda.

    I'm a big fan of the whole trilogy, but part 2 is my top game of all time. One of the best game plots ever. Not only the main story - even the side-missions for your game companions are a masterpiece (and the NPC character building is a masterpiece).

    One of the best games in gaming history if not the best. I really enjoyed the mass effect 3 but yeah the ending wasn't the best. Still the story, the characters, the jokes, the epic moments, the choices u had to make and everything was perfect. It's a shame that u can't say that from the Andromeda

Ambiences seems much more smaller than the first, but the game gains in all is aspect much more depth.     This game is great as both a standalone venture and as a sequel. The highlight of the game is the combat which is both simplistic and complex enough to feel rewarding without having to put too much effort. Compared to the first game there are a lot of improvements, namely in the combat and character development, but at times the dialogue does suffer from being a bit out of place.     Sound design is near perfect, and the character interactions are well written. Garrus is as always a standout among the crew. And the lead villain while more ephemeral narratively this time makes his presence known quite regularly in combat which is a good escalation of treat from ME1.

    Absolutely my favorite RPG of all time. Amazing story, interesting characters, and the combat is fun. You get a good sense that your choices have real consequences in the game universe. My only criticism of this game is that the maps can feel a little linear. I would have enjoyed a bit more openness, but otherwise a nearly flawless experience.

    Lot of years I avoided this games, looks like Star wars (i dont like them). But this year i try it, I have to say what everyone. It is great, ME1 is not so good like 2,3. But ME trio is amazing, BG.

    ME2 strikes a nearly perfect balance between the fun of action and the importance of dialogue that very few other RPGs understand. The story is great and very well told, with some fantastic characters and incredible moments. It's like playing an epic sci-fi movie! The combat can feel very basic at times, and there are some moments that get boring, but, as a whole, ME2 is a fantastic experience.

    After buying the trilogy and loving the first Mass Effect, I started the second one immediately after completing the first game, I was straight away impressed in how your decisions from the first game carried onto the second game, I never at the time and still haven't played a game where your actions determine what happens into the second game, your decision from the first game reallyAfter buying the trilogy and loving the first Mass Effect, I started the second one immediately after completing the first game, I was straight away impressed in how your decisions from the first game carried onto the second game, I never at the time and still haven't played a game where your actions determine what happens into the second game, your decision from the first game really matter, and I was excited that my story on how I choose to play is carrying on into the second one, I loved the story of this one building up your team getting to know each individual and learning their back stories and gain loyalty from all of them if you choose to do their loyalty quests which really matter for the final mission, the gameplay understandably is better than the first one, it wasn't so clunky, it continued the element of importance of decision making, what impressed me the most was the bonding of each character and how you choose to interact with them determining their relationship with you, the story was fantastic in this one, and to the very end your decision matter which carry onto the third game, like the first Mass Effect, a 9/10… Expand

    It was an interesting continuation of the first story. Quite interesting system of relations with associates that I faced first time in that game. Truly great work.

    Ho comprato questo gioco per solo 4 euro e devo dire che mi è piaciuto tantissimo anche se non avevo giocato mai al primo nè avevo giocato mai a giochi ambientati nello spazio . Per il prezzo a cui si trova lo consiglio vivamente.Non aspettatevi una grafica magnifica ma si tratta di un gioco del 2010 e per quei tempi era un gioco fatto benissimo .

    The story is captivating, the game-play is strategical and fast-paced, and the music just makes it all better.
    If you enjoy having various dialogue options, epic sci-fi battles, and palpable characters, then you will love Mass Effect 2.

    First of all i dont like most sci-fis. But this one? I felt immediately immersed in Mass Effect universe and the world makes complete sense, best sci-fi game ever played, none other could do this for me. Amazing.

    Lots of interesting new and recurring characters to interact with. The main storyline form ME 1 is unfortunately not really followed up on. Improved combat system with significant cuts to the RPG elements compared to ME 1.

    a huge improvement from the first mass effects which controller and camera stopped me from playing it. but with this game it is greatly improved. the story is one of the greatest i have ever played. a masterpiece you need to experience.

    Really great game, better than me1 mostly thanks to the improved level designs. I didn't hate the mako sections in the first game like some people do but this games definitely better for not having it. Also there is more amazing cinematic scenes compared to me1 and the areas are prettier in general. The stories are pretty comparable in quality imo.     The best part of trilogy! We have more interesting chracters, we also get old ones. Better mechanic and fighting. Great story and graphics. Final ending depends of our work. i don't like need to buy tons of DLC (this is the biggest minus for game). But still is one of must play games.

    Memorable characters that make you actually care about your decisions, which really count on the playthrough. With that said, it really ticks the roleplaying box in me. A great game overall.

    The most epic sci-fi adventure I've ever played, there are moments in this game that are just jaw dropping, especially when you encounter the Collectors for the first time. With much improved gameplay and visuals added with some of the most memorable characters ever, amazing dialogue, great story and a fantastic antagonist this game is a 10/10.

Generally it is considered the best of the Mass Effect games and for good reasons. This game is another great example of how to make a sequel to a already successful game. The developers kept what was good about the original Mass Effect, namely the atmosphere, theMass Effect 2 is the second installment (duh!) of the legendary Mass Effect sci-fi action RPG game series, released in 2010. Generally it is considered the best of the Mass Effect games and for good reasons. This game is another great example of how to make a sequel to a already successful game. The developers kept what was good about the original Mass Effect, namely the atmosphere, the emphasis on the crew, improved what needed improving, like the depth of some of the characters, more interactions onboard the Normandy and completely left out the boring Mako missions. On top of that, BioWare took some risks and basically constructed the story around a single mission. So the first two thirds of the game you just go around the galaxy and gather your new crew. It is a bold move, but it absolutely paid off. Creating strong characters always was something that BioWare did very well. With all the DLCs installed there is twelve companions in total, all of which have a distinct personalities and backgrounds. My personal favorites are: Miranda (obviously), Samara/Morinth (the least predictable moment in gaming history), Mordus (salarian autistic genius able to rationalize anything) and Jack (really messed up). The number of important choices you can do is also greater than in the original game. You can easily lose a companion through a dialogue. The graphics is also greatly improved. There are more romance options (and more interesting options, I might add). Monetary balance is great. Just about everything is better than it was in the Mass Effect. There are no obvious negatives on this game. The probe system is very slow and boring, but you actually only need about 20% of all the available material to upgrade everything you can upgrade. Still pretty slow and boring. Mild microtransactions (overpriced DLCs) and no SJW politics.

    Major DLCs: Arrival - interesting, yet short DLC with serious consequences for the entire galaxy. Overlord - a slightly longer DLC about a rogue VI with (again) pretty grim choice at the end. Lair of the Shadow Broker - storywise, this is the most important DLC, should have been part of basic game.

    Fantastic sequel, one of the best and most enjoyable BioWare games, hell one of the best games period. Final Verdict: 95%    … Expand

    This game is my personal favorite from the trilogy. At first I wasn't really invested in the story, but after meeting a couple new characters and learning more about this universe I must say I had the time of my life playing this. It has everything I loved from the previous game and adds a lot of new things.

    Combat is even more of a shooter and story is streamlined, or less important. Or rather more character oriented since it is mainly composed of recruiting party members and doing their loyalty missions. As such it cannot achieve the epic proportions of the first and is a downgrade in pretty much every way

The new hub worlds are beautifully crafted (if slightly restrictive) and the story telling is a massive plus.     Comparing to the first game story could have been better. While the game prefers to focus on independent stories, the story in the background wasn't as compelling as the first. And the biggest problem is the logic behind all quests, except for two, were exactly the same. Just spawn on a random map, fight through the end, then the quest is completed.     Mass effect 2 is the best game in the mass effect trilogy. Improved combat, more awesome squadmates and more difficult choices for Shepard. If you loved the first game no doubt you will love this one as well.

Upon its release, ME2 received widespread critical and commercial success, and for damn good reason. ME2 is a much leaner, more refined experience compared to its predecessor (but notMass Effect was a strong, yet ultimately flawed start to Bioware's next big franchise. It introduced players to it's new characters and universe, leaving fans salivating for its much anticipated sequel. Upon its release, ME2 received widespread critical and commercial success, and for damn good reason. ME2 is a much leaner, more refined experience compared to its predecessor (but not without its own issues). It's storytelling was going into darker territory, there's a whole new cast of characters in addition to old faces and the combat received a significant overhaul. In pretty much every respect, I consider ME2 the pinnacle of the series.

    The game takes place a couple of years after ME1. After an unexpected encounter with a new threat, Shepard finds himself working with the morally questionable Cerberus, led by the aptly named Illusive Man. He provides Shepard with a new ship, resources and dossiers on people best suited to help them launch a suicide mission against a race of beings known as the collectors. Much like the first game, the general storytelling, while solid in its own right (though with moments that feel contrived), takes a huge backseat to the individual characters and your relationships with them. The new characters you recruit are some of the very best in the series. There was not a single one that I did not root for or wanted to learn more about, especially when they are given their own individual loyalty missions to further flesh them out. The presentation also received a massive overhaul. General graphical fidelity and has certainly increased, but it's the art design, lighting and cinematography that really sells the experience. The bold colors and dark shadows perfectly add to the darker atmosphere that the game creates, and character interactions are far more dynamic and interesting. Despite the darker tone, the game manages to be surprisingly funny at points as well. The fantastic music and voice acting further sells the experience. Bioware was finally able to develop and refine their own style with ME2.

    Combat is another huge improvement. They were able to refine the shooting mechanics and even make a few improvements to character and enemy AI compared to the first game. The game is structured a lot more linear this time around, feeling more like level-to-level progression. The game streamlines a lot, from the exploration to the level up system, and in some respects I do feel that's a step back from ME1. It feels far less like an RPG and more like a traditional 3rd-Person shooter with RPG elements. That being said, ME2's refinements to gameplay more than make up for that shortcoming. The game also introduces resource collecting, where you would travel to different planets on the galaxy map and launch probes at select spots to collect resources for upgrades that are needed to improve you and your party, but also ones that are vital to your mission. On a fresh playthrough, this is easily the most tedious, boring part of the game. If you want to get the best outcome, however, you're gonna have to do some farming. If you are doing an imported playthrough or have multiple save files on hand, you'll have enough resources from the get-go for this not to be an issue.

    ME2 continues ME1's emphasis on choices. You can import your save data from that game into ME2, which not only provide subtle and big changes to game world, but you'll also get additional bonuses in resources and credits to make your job a bit easier. The game also retains the traditional paragon/renegade system, but this time adds an interrupt system to spice up your choices, some with significance and others just for humor. The decisions you make in this game feel like they have a lot more weight this time around, and have some of the most dire consequences for the series.

    If you have more of an affinity for ME1's more traditional RPG elements, you may be disappointed with how more stripped down it can feel. If you can look past that, however, you'll find a more interesting world, plenty of memorable characters and refined combat to keep you invested in. Not only do I think this is the best game in the series, but ME2 is one of my all time favorite game period.    … Expand

    Mass Effect 2 delivers a story that's deeper than what many novelists are capable of, and its action is better than what most Hollywood directors are creating nowadays. It's an addictive, engrossing experience that many gamers will replay over and over while they hold their breath waiting for the third game.

    A brilliant mix of shooter and role-playing, filled with great characters, excellent design, lots of action and clever dialogue. It's a shame though that Bioware did not improve the inventory and skill system of the first game, but actually reduced it even more. I really wished there were more customization options, more ways to develop and gear up my characters. But all these are merely small points of criticism, since there is so much to feel and experience in this game. Mass Effect 2 is a thrilling, emotional ride and ultimately every bit as good as its predecessor.
