Nov 29, 2022Manafinder pits itself as a classic JRPG-style game but it ends up being something different. While managing to riff off classic JRPGs Manafinder finds its footing in its interesting world, Streamlined combat. But it is not all perfect as it also loses some of the fun complexity of JRPGs.

Nov 2, 2022Manafinder is a great game that reminds me of old favorites while rocking a style all its own. Except for the heroine’s lack of backstory, the game does little wrong. And, again, you can pet the dog. Come to think of it, we more commonly see wolf-like or Doberman-style dogs in video games, so Scar being akin to a Bullmastiff is quite refreshing. Representation matters, including canine representation. In the sea of retro-RPGs inspired by Japanese classics, Manafinder’s distinct charm stood out to me, and I encourage RPG fans to check it out.

This turn-based RPG incorporates varied mini-games in a satisfying way to keep the adventure refreshing and fun. The mix of features in its battle system work perfectly to make combat highly enjoyable and rewarding. Manafinder is recommendable to RPGamers who want a short and charming journey with cute visuals.
