    This is a pretty good arcade action platformer game. And the retro graphic aspect, similar to the old SNES games, are a really nice touch.

    Cursed Castilla is a fun game to play and very challenging.
    Normally I am a keyboard player but in this case I must confess that it seems to me that it would be better to play this game with a controller.

    A pesar de contar con suficientes retoques y mejoras frente a la versión gratuita del título, no deja de ser el mismo juego. Sin embargo, un trabajo tan redondo y mimado como este merece ser comprado no una, sino varias veces, aunque sólo sea para apoyar al desarrollador.

    Es cierto que existe una saturación indie de títulos de marcada temática retro para atraer al consumidor, pero el    A pesar de contar con suficientes retoques y mejoras frente a la versión gratuita del título, no deja de ser el mismo juego.     Es cierto que existe una saturación indie de títulos de marcada temática retro para atraer al consumidor, pero el título que nos ocupa no se limita a parecer retro, sino que se siente y se juega como tal, entrando en una categoría que muy pocos han conseguido entrar (como Shovel Knight o Megaman 9).

    Una delicia para todos los que crecimos echando moneditas en los salones recreativos, que no se limita a copiar a los mas grandes, sino que se atreve a incluso mejorarlos en ciertas mecánicas jugables.    … Expand

    Estamos ante una carta de amor a los juegos arcade de los 80 y 90. Principalmente aquellos que fueron desarrollados por la compañía japonesa Capcom. Se trata de un arcade líneal, de plataformas y run & gun, donde debemos memorizar los patrones de los enemigos y los escenarios para poder avanzar y continuar con la aventura.

    Si fuisteis niños en los 90 os recordará muchísimo a algunos    Estamos ante una carta de amor a los juegos arcade de los 80 y 90. Principalmente aquellos que fueron desarrollados por la compañía japonesa Capcom. Se trata de un arcade líneal, de plataformas y run & gun, donde debemos memorizar los patrones de los enemigos y los escenarios para poder avanzar y continuar con la aventura.

    Si fuisteis niños en los 90 os recordará muchísimo a algunos clásicos como Ghost’n goblins, Nemo, Willow o Three Wonders (Midnight Wanderers) entre otros que seguro habéis jugado. Se trata del mismo concepto, basado en la mitología española para darle un trasfondo y unas mecánicas muy sencillas, pero muy dificiles de dominar. El juego, no obstante, tiene una curva de dificultad justa. No es sencillo, pero tampoco te hace sentir un manco, por lo que morirás al completarlo, pero con un poco de paciencia conseguirás llegar a tu objetivo de terminarlo.

    Mención especial a todo el diseño de enemigos, jefes y entornos. No se espera menos de un juego de este tipo. Recorreremos todo tipo de fases a cada cual más tétrica, llenas de obstáculos, trampas y enemigos dispuestos a terminar con nosotros a la mínima.

    Recomendado a aquellos jugadores que gustéis de lo retro, o aquellos que os aproximéis por primera vez a los antiguos arcades. Es una forma distinta de jugar videojuegos a lo que hay hoy en día (salvando a los soulslike o los roguelike) pero muy entretenido y supone que un reto.    … Expand

    This is such a great game! It's FAR too hard for me to master it, but it's beautiful, smooth, and wonderfully done.

    Cursed Castilla is a good looking game delivering the retro atmosphere of the 80’s arcade fantasy classics like Ghosts n’ Goblins with solid storyline, variable enemies, interesting weapons and upgrades, simple and responsive controls and nice retro audiovisuals. However, there are some flaws that I could not get over - the difficulty that is rather punishing than challenging, the limitation to have just one weapon at the moment, losing all upgrades when die and the cooldown after three shots that does not belong to such frenetic action as Cursed Castilla is. These are the reasons why I cannot recommend this game for family playing as it would cause rather frustration than enjoyable time spent with this game.

    Cons:
    - punishing gameplay
    - just one weapon at the moment
    - losing of everything when die
    - weapons cooldown

    Cursed Castilla is objectively not a bad game but as it is not suitable for being played by fellow Gaming Fathers and their families I am giving it Thumbs Down and VideoGaming Father’s Index 6- out of 10 - not recommended.    … Expand

    Cursed Castilla is as good as it was five years ago. You can play the original game - for free - on the Locomalito site, and this Nintendo 3DS version suffers from some problems, like the plain ugly coin-op mode or the really tiny graphics. Should you decide to buy the portable version, though, know that it's best played on a 3DS XL.

    Cursed Castilla: Maldita Castilla EX is a perfect example of the kind of well-crafted, hair-pulling experience that adventure fans know all too well. Controls are precise, the retro look is as authentic as you'll get without modern flourishes, and the gameplay feels perfect, even if it is highly difficult. Some will dislike the tedious means of getting a better ending, but those who cut their teeth on the 16-bit era of platformers will be right at home here.
