I really enjoyed Maid Mansion while on the ride. The characters and story were interesting as well as it was fun to explore how different people reacted to the various choices I got to make. Where I feel it fell short was the ending. I managed to discover four of the endings at the time of writing this and I can’t say I enjoyed any of them very much. I managed to discover four of the endings at the time of writing this and I can’t say I enjoyed any of them very much. I don’t know what I expected or wanted but none of them felt quite right. That being said they all worked in that they felt like the logical conclusion to my actions at that point. Some visual novels opt for having faux endings where there is really only one true way to respond to most situations or you die and Maid Mansion actually went through the effort to craft actual endings that worked and were legitimate branches to the story. The art was pretty decent even though I am not a huge fan of the style. The lewd scenes were well done as were the sound effects. The music was a bit repetitive and I ended up turning it off. One thing I also wanted more of was explanation on the lore. The countries; the factions involved; it’s history; etc. There are a lot of references made that the player is just supposed to infer from but there is no glossary or anything to explain any of it.

I played Maid Mansion on Linux. It never crashed on me and I didn’t notice any spelling errors. Alt-Tab didn’t work. You can manually save whenever you want and it has forty save slots for that.

My issues with lore and endings aside there is a solid game here that is an enjoyable ride while it lasts. There are enough choices and routes to satisfy most and it has good production values. I finished four routes in two hours and five minutes. I paid $19.32 CAD for it and felt it would have been more worth it at the $15 mark although it is far from bad value. If you enjoy visual novels I would give the demo a try.
