    I am 16 years old. It's been 9 years since I first played this game on socket 462. This is still my favorite game, a true masterpiece.

    I can play Mafia once again and again through all theese years. I love it and the game itself looks so complete. Everything here looks so plausible, so I fell in love with this game.
    This game shows how Tom was drowning in mafia lifestyle, wich caused his downfall.
    Masterpiece from Gathering of Developers. You can't just quit since you're in :)

    Excellent game based on film noir. The plot is a central pillar of this video game, but at the same time it is not a boring game. The shooting mechanics are much more interesting than in most games of this type (even current ones). The driving is quite realistic, adding a lot to the immersion in the story. It is an excellent game, highly recommended.

    Mafia is a great game storywise but this game is really have bad gunplay mechanics and car driving i hope it change in mafia 1 definitive edition with same story. So mafia is a good game and we should try it to experince something new and different from other games atleast when we play it we don't feel like this game is trying to copy gta

    Mafia will be my all time favorite game. The story was great and it had so many little mechanics that made it different from other games. for example the reloading system, were you always had to look if the magazine is empty before reloading. otherwise you lost the remaining ammo. this gave combat a strategic aspect, that (as far as i know) no game delivered till this day. i hope, they'llMafia will be my all time favorite game.     Truly underrated game with a much deeper more satisfying story than GTA 3. Graphics are good as are player controls and structure. Highly Recommended.

    I haven't played this one in 10 years and decided to refresh my memory... what a good trip this was! Mafia is still a classic, that deserves a remaster/remake with better controls and graphics. Although some missions are annoying as hell and the controls leave a lot to be desired, I recommend this game for its amazing atmosphere, great characters and story. Pickens approves!

    It's 2019 and Mafia is still one of the best PC games ever made. There were aspects of this game which were not replicated perhaps for 10 years or more. The attention to detail was simply exceptional. Such a shame that the sequels have gotten progressively worse.

    This has to be one of the best games I've ever played. Today it is naturally outdated, but back when it came, it was graphically phenomenal, the history blew me away and physics were way ahead of any contemporary games. A solid 10

    The graphics are average, but the spot where it shines is the story. Mafia story is similar to Godfather style, its full of plot twists and nice quotes, the gangster italian vibe is great in it. Characters are well written. World is semi open and nice to explore. Game is realistic. Shooting is risky and challenging and    One of the best gangster games of all time. a GTA for adults.

    The graphics are average, but the spot where it shines is the story.

    Our czech game with legendary status. I dont know how good it would be for me now. But oh boy those memories. I will never forget the motel mission how i was scared of the dog and the shootout on the big hotel roof with cops was also golden. Amazing story, great characters and gameplay. And the Music - tutututututu still plays in my head :D.

    Also new game + is a lot of fun, collecting    Our czech game with legendary status. I dont know how good it would be for me now. But oh boy those memories.     Probably one of the best games I've ever played in my life. The setting is amazing, the story line is amazing, the music is amazing, the atmosphere is amazing. Kids would say bad graphics, bad physics and stuff like that. Obviously that's not an up-to-date game, but you should definitely play this one. 10/10

Сюжет, персонажи, даже оружие, цепляют тебя за душу, ты проникаешься этой игрой вдоль и поперёк, все мельчайшие детали запоминаются тебе на всю жизнь, настолько она восхитительна! Да, определёно есть некоторые недочёты, например хедшот, что бы убить врага выстрелом в голову, надо в головуВеликолепная игра. Божественный сюжет, при этом игра относительно не маленькая, на часов 20-30. Сюжет, персонажи, даже оружие, цепляют тебя за душу, ты проникаешься этой игрой вдоль и поперёк, все мельчайшие детали запоминаются тебе на всю жизнь, настолько она восхитительна! Механика стрельбы каменная, но что вы хотели в то времена? Вы хотите сказать что в Vice City лучше? Нет конечно. Стрельба хоть и каменная, но все же не плоха. Говорят что игра сложная, но для меня наоборот было слишком легко, наверное надо просто обучится механике. И это вообще одна из первых игр которую я прошел, если не первая, и её я запомню на всю жизнь. Еще не забудьте про "Большую Прогулку", пусть там вы крутого сюжета не найдете, но позалипать можно. Есть интересные миссии, я даже весной этого года их со своей мамой проходил. Можно сказать что это подраздел для всей семьи)

Freeride extreme is also great some missions were hard but fun. Only shame is Free play you can really easy get money but there isn't anything what you can spend them for.     the story, soundtrack and voice acting are great, but the game suffers a lot from bad gameplay
    the map is done is such a way that you have to keep looking to it in order to know where you're going (because the compass is more disorienting than ever) and it covers the whole screen, so it's easy to crash into another cars the driving is garbage, every time you use    the gameplay is horrible

    the driving is garbage, every time you use the reverse the camera slips into its own ass and you're like "wtf is happening, where is my car"
    the camera is **** it position itself on the top of the character, you can't see his feet
    the shooting is another ****ty thing: in the first section in which you have to shoot, the game gives you 18 bullets and you have to deal with 3 guys and a dog while you manage not to get shot and the guys needs at least 5 shots to die

    one thing is being hard, other thing is being unfair and not fun
    this last thing, having fun, is the most important piece of a video game
    Bethesda's games, that are totally garbage (except for Morrowind) and cash grab are fun, that's why they sold well and that's why people buy them
    but Mafia is NOT fun

    Great game. i have spent a lot of time on this title. It has a great story with memorable characters. Good gameplay with lots of possibilities during missions and best cut scenes with good dialogs.

    Even now, after all this years i can assure you, that this is the best game ever in this genre, There is no any other game which i like more then this one.

    Mafia for PC is a timeless game, It could have been launched in 2010 year and continue being the best game of the year. Awesome, really awesome game, one of the best ever, and probably the second best sandbox of the history after Red Dead Redemption. Brutal game. Brutal game.

    I think everyone knows about this piece of art. Absolute legend in the game industry. Story telling is better than in some AAA movies.

    This is one of the few games that pulled me in to its story and actually made me care about the main characters as they progressed through their lives. I have had this game for over 11 years now and I still play it sometimes. Mainly for the story line and characters because I actually start to miss them after about a year or so.

    If i could give this game an 11 I would :-)

    Some of the shootouts and "that race" are punishingly difficult, but you'll want to persevere for a romantic and cinematic gangster tale that alludes to mafia movies like Once Upon a Time in America and Goodfellas. One of the greatest games to use the Grand Theft Auto clone format, and one of the earliest.

    Mafia won't hold your hand. It will push you into action and laugh at you. Difficulty curve is very steep, but nothing that can't be passed. And for game made in 2002 by a then unknown studio, Mafia raised the gaming standard by a mile.

    Great story, great characters, great music, great voice acting, simply a great game.
    It's quite difficult and certain parts are annoying (such as the Lucas Bertone missions), but it's an awesome game that puts all GTA titles to shame.

Among the scenery you can just walk/ride trough the wonderful city and take screenshots. the whole story is worth movie to be made. And the music! Maybe the best soundtrack ever.     How to start ... for me, this game is a masterpiece. This game gives me a feeling like no other game does not succeed. My guess is that the game has all that well developed. Honestly, I have not done just once, but 2-3 times.

    While the game undoubtedly has a slower start, it is TOTALLY worth it. Lost Heaven is a beautiful period piece that feels like an actual, living world. The gameplay is nice, and not easy either. It's a MUST BUY for any fan of open world games, crime dramas, or shooters.

    The biggest gripe I had with it? Lack of open-world/sandbox. It's actually a very controlled environment and there isn't much else to do between missions outside of breaking laws, driving like a maniac, and ending on a standoff with the police. With such a vast area, it felt so... boring and empty beyond the missions.

    Next biggest gripe would be that it is buggy at times with lots of graphics and physics errors as well as objects and sometimes even people getting stuck in the environment. Sometimes the AI would bug out too.

    Cars, while understandably made to be realistic, were annoying to maneuver particularly during car chase scenes. The lack of driving guidance/GPS also bugged me, though I guess that was part of the whole realism factor they were going for.

    Graphics, while great for it's time, did not perform any better on my high-end gaming rig than on my mid-level one, which was frustrating.

    Overrated, wouldn't really recommend it unless it's cheap.    … Expand

    This game was obviously ahead of its time. The atmopshere, the mission design, the story, the music, the setting... Everything seems to blend together. The game's weak part is the freeroaming aspect. Many people compare Mafia to GTA but it is really more common with The Getaway series, but even then, it is much different. BY FAR one of the best games I ever have played.

    And people still jump at the chance to praise the story, and all I can say is... what story? It's just a load of stereotypical, annoying and generic 'gangster'-style missions and scenarios strung together by some pretty poor voice acting.

    This game is nothing short of a total pain that hasn't aged well at all. But thankfully, the sequel fixes many of these problems and is a very enjoyable game. I'd recommend Mafia II, but this one? I'd avoid.    … Expand

    But if you actually think about it. The game is not like GTA, because for one it is linear, and most importantly, unlike GTA, Mafias "main bit" is the story. A well writ, well directed movie. A movie where YOU play as the main character.

    With that out of the way, Id like to say that while I played, the main thing that pushed me to continue through is the "whats gonna happen next". Maybe I wasn't too much into the actual gameplay, but I can say I really was into the game.
    The gameplay maybe did lack a little something, but if you complain about that you're just missing the point.

    The "speed limit" is 40 mph but you can go over that by just putting your foot down. Do expect a fine or two though. You also get fines from destroying road posts and skipping traffic lights.
    Handling is a bit tricky at first, specially with the worse cars, but you start getting used to it and since the game is based in quite a range of years, new better cars are made which you get to drive.

    Mafia doesn't seem to have a defined "difficulty curve" (where the game gets progressively harder), instead missions vary substantially, but that is quite satisfying since you sometimes get very easy missions right after finishing some very hard ones. I personally found the first mission quite hard since I wasn't used to the driving and your car is considerably slower.

    The story as I said is very well told and contains all the "cliches" you might expect from an Italian Mafia game/movie/book. The game was just what i was hoping and I don't see why people would criticise such a fine piece work.
    Murder, car chases, guns, torture, cars, prohibition, gambling, love, betrayal... exactly what I would expect from a game that chose "Mafia" as its title.    … Expand

    Pretty good tutorial, but that's about it. The AI likes to get hit by cars making you lose the level. The cars are extremely slow and even struggle to get up bridges and if you damage the car enough forget about driving up the bridge, you're walking. Shame, because most of the missions involve driving.

    Doesn't show you know where to go. Slowest cars I've ever seen. I spent more time trying to find the excat spot to stop those "bikes" (yes that's right. cars are powered by padels judging by speed) to reach or to advance the story. I never had any problems playing Mafia 2 so I see why this is interier. And it is way interier than GTA. 5 missions into Mafia and I'm still frustriated.

The overarching issue with Mafia is that its just... well... UNFINISHED. Driving around an open-world New York city circa 1933-1935, I was struck by how empty it felt. The city is bare, repetitive and mostly non-functional. Unlike Grand Theft Auto (especially GTA 4 and San Andreas), there's very very little to see and even less to do. Bugs and glitches abound, ranging from popping textures to screen tearing to getting your car stuck in the scenery constantly. While they're well done, the same 3-4 driving tracks that play over and over will have you gouging at your ears long before the game is over. A secondary (but still crucial) complaint is vehicle handling. Since you spend roughly 50% of the campaign behind the wheel of a car, its important that vehicle physics be spot-on. Or at least manageable. They are neither. Cars are so underpowered that they just barely sputter up a small hill but it's also incredibly easy to earn speeding tickets. All but the best 3-4 vehicles are floaty and a complete displeasure to operate. On many occasions I found myself skidding (or spinning, flipping, crashing, take your pick) wildly out of control from the slightest steering adjustment while the police pursuing me drive in such a way that the laws of physics seem to bend to their will. Mafia is very good at what it does right but unfortunately it's only 3/4 of a game that feels like the lofty goals of its developers got cut off at the knees in order to make a deadline.     Awful game. Getting pulled over for speeding at 40mph is just irritating as hell. A lot of missions are impossible because you die way too easily and you don't have enough ammo. This game was just a god awful experience and I quit playing it after a few missions. Just terrible all around.

The level design, soundtrack, graphics, and realism in everything from getting scratches on your car, running out of fuel and getting fines for speeding to the motion capture and gunplay- all contribute to making this a masterpiece in generations to come. This is a once-in-a-decade game that does everything well, and it was developed by a small team too. This game should NOT be compared to GTA 3.     A decent game that could have been much better. First of all if I'd wanted a driving game I would have bought one. Secondly, I couldn't complete one mission due to the moronic AI of a companion - had to cheat in the end. There were other minor bugs. More positively, the story is good and the game keeps you interested (when not driving constantly) and I did start to care about my character.A decent game that could have been much better.     One thing I'm going to say about this game.It's a MASTERPIECE.The story is awesome with strong characters, the gameplay fantastic and the world is so real ant believable. This game is one of the best of its type.
