    Absolutely amazing game, one of my favs. Every aspect of this tittle is nearly flawless, but without a few patches you will find some bugged elements in the gameplay. Without a doubt it's included in my personal top 10 list of games I've played:).

    Best mafia game you can play, story is original and absolutely riveting. Game is dramatic and EPIC. Great acting, great atmosphere and story telling, game evolves well! It still playable fine even on Windows 10. I finished this game more than 100 times, not even kidding! You have to play this! People leave out games, because they have old graphics, but this game is better than 99% of games you can play today and it looks still good!

    Forget about Mafia Definitive Edition, which is total garbage and play this!    … Expand

    До сих пор одна из лучших игр, с отличным погружением, сюжетом и доп. заданиями. Реалистичные поведение автомобилей, для игры начала 2000 отличный искусственный интеллект, у автомобилей заканчивается бензин, а жители достаточно правдоподобно    Даже сейчас в 2021 году игра норм.     Mafia changed what I thought a video game could do.
    The game felt like a movie Mafia might have the greatest story in a video game.
    The voice acting. story. city and graphics were absolutely mind-blowing.
    Mafia is of my favourite games all time while its almost 20 years old it still stands the test of time as being one of the finest open world games ever created

    One of the best games that I have ever played. It had flaws and was not a perfect game, but the story, characters and their developments was so good that you can forget any other issues that the game had. It is truly a masterpiece.

    Great game. i have spent a lot of time on this title. It has a great story with memorable characters. Good gameplay with lots of possibilities during missions and best cut scenes with good dialogs.

    Геймплей в основном заключается в покатушках и перестрелках. Периодически разбавляясь интерактивными миссиями. Графика на высоком уровне для года выхода игры. Отличное звуковое сопровождение. Саундрек хорошо подобран к атмосфере тех времен. И еще одним плюсом является интерактивная музыка. Управление непривычное для такого вида игры и достаточно непривычный интерфейс. В итоге атмосфернаяГеймплей в основном заключается в покатушках и перестрелках. Периодически разбавляясь интерактивными миссиями. Графика на высоком уровне для года выхода игры. Отличное звуковое сопровождение. Саундрек хорошо подобран к атмосфере тех времен. И еще одним плюсом является интерактивная музыка. Отличный сюжет (почти все мы уже видели в "Крестном отце" или "Славных парнях", но для игровой индустрии того времени это стало откровением), прекрасные персонажи, которым сопереживаешь, в отличии от болванчиков следующих частей, шикарнейшее музыкальное оформление, невероятная куча мелочей и, как следствие, Мафия - одна из самых атмосферных игр,Одна из величайших игр в истории индустрии.     This is the best game of this genre. I love that story it is amazing. Also I really like how realistic this game is and how many functions there are. Freeride extreme is also great some missions were hard but fun. Only shame is Free play you can really easy get money but there isn't anything what you can spend them for.     A remarkable game with a long story and a great gameplay. If you like mafia movies, this is the go to game for you. The graphics are still quite good for a game that was released 20 years ago.

    Best game ever made. Story is awesome, gameplay is fun, driving is relistic, you care about the characters and the ending is fantastic. Nothing like MAFIA III tho...... (and that's not a bad thing)

    - Sea : bad, , only bad thing :(

    The game in its core is great, especially for an indie game. But those aspects above are often enough for a 2020's    Mafia is an unfortunate game. Published almost a year after GTA III and PC only.

    Великолепная игра. Божественный сюжет, при этом игра относительно не маленькая, на часов 20-30. Сюжет, персонажи, даже оружие, цепляют тебя за душу, ты проникаешься этой игрой вдоль и поперёк, все мельчайшие детали запоминаются тебе на всю жизнь, настолько она восхитительна! Да, определёно есть некоторые недочёты, например хедшот, что бы убить врага выстрелом в голову, надо в головуВеликолепная игра. Божественный сюжет, при этом игра относительно не маленькая, на часов 20-30. Сюжет, персонажи, даже оружие, цепляют тебя за душу, ты проникаешься этой игрой вдоль и поперёк, все мельчайшие детали запоминаются тебе на всю жизнь, настолько она восхитительна! Да, определёно есть некоторые недочёты, например хедшот, что бы убить врага выстрелом в голову, надо в голову попасть ДВА раза, но в любой игре есть свои грешки, так что простимо. Механика стрельбы каменная, но что вы хотели в то времена? Вы хотите сказать что в Vice City лучше? Нет конечно. Стрельба хоть и каменная, но все же не плоха. Говорят что игра сложная, но для меня наоборот было слишком легко, наверное надо просто обучится механике. И это вообще одна из первых игр которую я прошел, если не первая, и её я запомню на всю жизнь. Еще не забудьте про "Большую Прогулку", пусть там вы крутого сюжета не найдете, но позалипать можно. Есть интересные миссии, я даже весной этого года их со своей мамой проходил. Можно сказать что это подраздел для всей семьи)
    Хочу сказать напоследок что я до сих пор помню каждый закоулок, каждый мусорник Потерянных Небес. Игра великолепна, игра всех времён, мне больше нечего сказать.    … Expand

    Probably one of the best games I've ever played in my life. The setting is amazing, the story line is amazing, the music is amazing, the atmosphere is amazing. Kids would say bad graphics, bad physics and stuff like that. Obviously that's not an up-to-date game, but you should definitely play this one. 10/10

    This has to be one of the best games I've ever played. Today it is naturally outdated, but back when it came, it was graphically phenomenal, the history blew me away and physics were way ahead of any contemporary games. A solid 10

    Our czech game with legendary status. I dont know how good it would be for me now. But oh boy those memories. I will never forget the motel mission how i was scared of the dog and the shootout on the big hotel roof with cops was also golden. Amazing story, great characters and gameplay. And the Music - tutututututu still plays in my head :D.

    Also new game + is a lot of fun, collecting    Our czech game with legendary status. I dont know how good it would be for me now. But oh boy those memories.     The graphics are average, but the spot where it shines is the story. Mafia story is similar to Godfather style, its full of plot twists and nice quotes, the gangster italian vibe is great in it. Characters are well written. World is semi open and nice to explore. Game is realistic. Shooting is risky and challenging and    One of the best gangster games of all time. a GTA for adults.

    The graphics are average, but the spot where it shines is the story.

    It's 2019 and Mafia is still one of the best PC games ever made. There were aspects of this game which were not replicated perhaps for 10 years or more. The attention to detail was simply exceptional. Such a shame that the sequels have gotten progressively worse.

    Классическая гангстерская история. Конечно это не соперник ГТА в плане открытости мира и возможностей, но атмосфера и персонажи здесь намного правдоподобнее чем в детищах рокстар.

    Foreword: I've wanted to play this game for a long time. I remember how I came across the second Mafia, I liked it by itself (I could not get through it because I was a weak PC, and in the end I just hammered the bolt) and it became interesting to me to see where the roots are coming from. It was about 2017-2018 year, I went to YouTube and watched the game of the first Mafia. It seemed to me quite good and I realized that the passage of this game would not pass me by.

    Gameplay: Hardcore as it is, sometimes it was annoying in the missions the protracted complexity of the game. The most striking example is the survivability of opponents - 6 bullets point-blank from a police revolver and the enemy continues to stand on his feet and fires back. If it seemed to you ordinary, then how do you like 3 bullets in the head from the above-named barrel and the same thing! It was also very enraged by the mission where Polly was jammed by Thompson and because of this you had to quickly get away in the car. Do you think it's as easy as in some GTA? - NO! Enemies literally stick to you, turn you around, calmly go around all sorts of obstacles such as suddenly leaving cars or objects such as flower beds, poles, etc.

    Plot: There can be no questions at all, this is the only game that I perceived as a film. I cannot compare this game with the plot to other games, since you are facing a very realistic, logical, dramatic and incredibly interesting story about crime, friendship, love of the 30s. with your twists and chips.

    Characters: I can only say one thing - there are no extra characters, everyone has their own behavior, their own manner, their feelings, and so on.

    Game world: The city of Lost Haven appears before you (the prototype is a mixture of cities such as New York, Chicago.) Here I was very pleased with adequate traffic without any chaos on the roads. I also really liked the trick with fines for driving on red, speeding. A variety of cars, weapons.

    Bottom line: I liked the game, but not so much that I admired it, it is still outdated for our days, no matter how we would like it ... I myself am a lover of 3D games of the early 2000s with an open world, but in order to just play comfortably in normal aspect ratio, with normal drawing and resolution, I was forced to download plugins from the Internet. Причем в самом «Lost Heaven» вы не найдете ни одного места, которое было бы похоже на другое. Рабочие кварталы пугают своей мрачностью, из центра не хочется уезжать. Банки и бордели, католическая церковь и тюрьма - всё выглядит очень естественно. Снимаю шляпу перед художниками и дизайнерами.
    Миссий в игре более двадцати, и каждая из них четко отпечатывается в памяти. Чего только стоит ночь в маленькой деревне, когда под проливным дождем вы должны отбить своего товарища у гангстеров, вооруженных до зубов.
    Заглавную тему исполняет Bohemia Symphonic Orchestra, а по ходу игры музыка меняется с каждым уровнем - то нагнетая атмосферу, то разряжая ее.
    Киношные ролики между миссиями выполнены на движке и заставляют вспоминать всё того же "Крестного отца". Мимика персонажей уникальна, а движения таковы, какими они и должны быть у живых людей. Потрясает внимание разработчиков к мелким деталям. Убегая от гангстеров и спрятавшись в каком-то дворике, можно спугнуть забулдыгу, справляющего малую нужду прямо у подъезда одного из домов.     É um dos grandes clássicos dos games, a história de Mafia é incrível, porém, a gameplay horrorosa acaba atrapalhando um pouco, mas nada que uns ajustes nos comandos resolva isso, mas se vc quer jogar esse jogo no controle, passa longe ou vai jogar a versão de Ps2 e Xbox em um emulador da vida.

    Agora a história não tem o q falar, é simplesmente fenomenal, foi o game que deu o pontapé    É um dos grandes clássicos dos games, a história de Mafia é incrível, porém, a gameplay horrorosa acaba atrapalhando um pouco, mas nada que uns ajustes nos comandos resolva isso, mas se vc quer jogar esse jogo no controle, passa longe ou vai jogar a versão de Ps2 e Xbox em um emulador da vida.

    I can play Mafia once again and again through all theese years. I love it and the game itself looks so complete. Everything here looks so plausible, so I fell in love with this game.
    This game shows how Tom was drowning in mafia lifestyle, wich caused his downfall.
    Masterpiece from Gathering of Developers. You can't just quit since you're in :)

    Mafia is the most authentic crime game ever released. Graphics and cinematics are convincing, the plot is thrilling and gameplay is fun. Only the controls are sometimes challenging but worth practicing. Very good game!

    The gameplay is **** horrible, i remember being one of the people who defended the gameplay but after replaying it i have to say it was just a big pain in the ass for me. Insane amount of bugs, had to replay 10 min long parts of missions just because this game decided it'd bug the heck out. The shooting was pretty bad, you never know when the enemy will rush onto you or when they'll just sit like chickens ready to give birth. The dodge roll system is laughable, you try to roll and you get showered with bullets.
    The driving is so bad that i want to bang my head on the wall, i remember failing so many missions because i just randomly hit a curb that sent me flying or even made me die instantly for no reason even when i was driving at 20 mph (i ride my bicycle at that pace). The shooting from car is broken, you just can't kill the enemies that way, you don't even know if they're getting damaged or not, they don't cry, no blood falls out, you just keep shooting hoping they die once. It takes so many shots to kill someone that you just wonder what the heck is it that they eat/are wearing or if you're using nerf guns. Oh yeah, SO MUCH DRIVING, I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE SO MUCH, IT'S A PAIN IN MY GODDAMN ASS. The driving is not fun and they force you to drive so much, what is this, taxi driver?

    The voice acting is 5-6/10, it feels sometimes like they're just reading it off the script, i feel like the script is so good that the voice actors just had to read it to make the story feel great. Good lord was the story good, the script could've used some polishing but you can just feel the amount of love the writer had, the feelings he wanted to convey, the story he wanted to tell. The only reason im giving this an 8 and not a 3, the story made me want to finish this god awful game. Trust me, if there's any reason to play this game, it's the story. I still feel like Mafia 2 has a better story but nevertheless, this is still beautiful, some polishing and a stellar cast would've made a terrific film.

    The gunshots sound pretty powerful so plus points for that, the soundtrack was pretty cool actually but got repetitive. The main theme tho, when it started playing near the ending, ughh i just lost control.

    Side rant : to the people that say "oh this game is from 2002 what do you expect from the gameplay?" I played Half-Life, Max Payne, Diablo, Age of Empires 1 and 2, Hitman 1 and 2 (the og), Fallout 1 and 2 and most notably, GTA 3, all of them were amazing but gta 3, good lord was it good, i experienced no bugs, had a crazy amount of fun and just could not stop smiling and thinking about this game, so no, i won't go easy on this game because it's from 2002, if it is actually good it will stand the test of time. I wouldn't have minded the graphics if the gameplay was good buuut it wasn't so another thing to complain about, something about it just feels bland, compared to gta 3. IMO hitman 2 looked miles better and GTA 3 as well, let's not talk about the beauty that was Metal Gear Solid 2..... haha so you get the picture, it is old but that doesn't mean games weren't smashing good back then, it's just an excuse for bad game design.
    They were ambitious but made a **** game with an amazing story, I felt awesome reliving this story but wanted to end myself when playing the game itself, hope whoever reads this doesn't feel the same way about the gameplay as i did and has a blast like others did. If you don't want to play the game at least watch walkthroughs/just check the story out, you'll love it trust me    … Expand

    Yes! were able to make in 2000 such thoughtful cool games as the legendary original Mafia which you play with great pleasure in 2020! This is a masterpiece for all years. THX Developers of 2000-x thousandths years'

    One of the best third person action games. Wonderful plot, high-level dubbing, old-time gameplay. Bought as soon as it was released in 2002, I never stopped using it as a yardstick for even recent titles. a Must Have for every true gamer.

    All subsequent editions were embodied not for the sake of high-quality games, but only thought about the business of money in order to use this brand of the name Mafia) So this is the only original that to play to this day with great pleasure.     The Mafia series is one of my favorite series of all time. The story is absolutely amazing and unforgettable. There are moments that make you cry and that you will really never forget. The characters and missions are also well written here. For me, the game deserves 9.5 / 10.

    Старая добрая mafia. Сюжет повествует о обычном таксисте, который по воле судьбы попадает в криминальную жизнь. Все персонажи прописаны, у каждого есть своя история. А это атмосфера 30-х годов... Вообщем 10 из 10.

    Almost 20 years from the first time I played this game, I am certain that this has been and will always be among the very best PC games to have ever appeared. The game is amazing at face value, even if you skim through the campaign and don't play even one side mission (referring to Lucas Bertone's ones, and others). However, it is only when you dig deeper, emerge yourself into the atmosphere & the climate of the '30s, and when you notice all the intricate mechanics that the devs put in this masterpiece, when you notice what a gem this is. I have been playing - sometimes casually, sometimes hardcore - the game for close to two decades now, and keep coming back to it, even as the life goes on with its own sets of challenges & news. I have played Mafia 2 & 3 & DE with hopes that even one of them comes close. None did. Mafia 1 will always be the game for me and I am extremely grateful to the devs for the work they put in this title. An absolute masterpiece that even in 2021 has an extremely dedicated speedrun player base that constantly reverse-engineer the game to find ways to beat it quicker (as well as a base of faithful players that keep on playing nearly two decades after its launch). I am pretty sure I will never be able to praise another game like this one ever again (though I hope I will!). For me, quite simply, this is the best game ever.… Expand

    Great atmosphere and story, amazing soundtracks, gameplay is ahead of its time with all the little features the developpers took care about. And i also love how almost every mission in the game is iconic in its own way, so you could remember all of them after completing the game quite a while ago, and that's what next Mafia games lack in my opinion.

    I never played a game as many times as Mafia. It has bugs but I love it nonetheless. The story, the missions, the music, the details will never age. It's a timeless masterpiece.

И во время анонса ремейка в 2020-ом году чёрт дёрнул меня всё-таки ознакомится со столь знаменитым оригиналом. И каково же было моё удивление: спустя почти два десятка лет первая часть выглядит и играется вполне впечатляюще. Во многом, конечно, благодаря сильному повествованию, выверенной режиссуре, бесчисленному количеству мелких деталей и бескомпромиссному геймдизайну Даниэля Вавры. После столь мощного оригинала, порезанная и хаотичная вторая часть резко упала в моих глазах. Ремейк хоть и сделан в целом качественно, но более голливудский лоск, динамичный темп и недостаток бюджета всё же не позволяет назвать его полной заменой оригинала.
