Computer Gaming WorldYou don't need a barnburner system to get all of Madden's eye candy. [Holiday 2004, p.86]
-
With the lackluster control pad support/implementation aside, if you're a PC gamer wanting NFL action, Madden 2005 is the game to get as there literally is no contest, but don't think EA take it easy because of this, as Madden 2005 is the PC's best yet by far.

PC GamerThe new defensive controls make it a must-buy (for those with a dual-analog pad). [Holiday 2004, p.108]
-
The defensive improvements alone are worth the price of admission, but when you add to that the expanded franchise mode, you realize just how different this year's game not only looks but feels.
-
A little too much like last year’s game...However, its defensive gameplay mechanics are more than enough to warrant that this is a must-play game if you’re into football, and it’s a lot more user-friendly than ESPN is.
-
In many ways, Madden 2005 is just a bit too much like last year's Madden for comfort--but it's still a truly excellent game of football all around.
-
Once you get sucked into Franchise Mode, you very well might not make it out.
-
It's not the best-looking of the football titles out there, but it's the most fun to play and compete with. Maybe next year they'll nail the visual category as well, but as long as the game keeps playing as well as it does, there's no reason to really trip over it.
-
Still great fun, but do you really need to buy it again? [Jan 2005, p.90]
-
Computer Games MagazineJust because it's the only big-budget PC football game on the market is now excuse for complacency. [Dec 2004, p.79]
-
While there are lots of competitors, there quite simply just isn't another football game that stands up to the standard Madden sets. If you love the NFL, you'll love Madden 2005.
-
One quibble comes with the ugly texturing of the player models - perhaps a hangover from the console versions, or maybe just misjudged artistic direction. Either way, they need fixing. And that's about that. [PC Zone]
