What an excellent game. it's possibily the best "classic" adventure game since Thimbleweed Park. Writing is great, dialogues are fun and on-point, the peculiar humour is actually pretty funny, pixel art is really good (although the particular palette chosen with mostly mute colors can be a little tiring. Weird since it's about dreams and you expect them to be vibrant. Reminds me of ManiacWhat an excellent game. it's possibily the best "classic" adventure game since Thimbleweed Park. Weird since it's about dreams and you expect them to be vibrant. Reminds me of Maniac Mansion in many ways, though.). Voice acting is quite good too and there's TONS of useless hotspots with flavour text, all voiced, that add lot of personality to the game world. As a downside, there is an hotspot button but it's
    - annoying to use (need to keep clicked a few seconds before it activates)
    - mostly pointless because it doesn't mark all the hotspots, but just a few. Feels like it marks only the important ones, so to act like a hint button, but it doesn't always follow this rule.
Musics are great, and I SWEAR they stole a few notes here and there from Monkey Island and casually glued them in, but even if they're well composed and appropriate for the game, sometimes the loop can be a little annoying if you're stuck in the same place for a while.
So, all great so far right?
But wait, there's more! Here's where the game really shines.
    Puzzles.
Puzzles can be very, very clever. I'm loving them. I've got stuck more than once, that good way of being stuck, not the annoying one, and there's been a number of "A-AH!" moments; They can be weird but logical (logic with a sprinke of moon) and they're all very well designed and interesting. I am truly impressed on how good the puzzles in this game are, although sometimes there's a bit of nudging the player in the right direction that I don't really like, as in characters casually mentioning something you need to do to progress, that for me translates either into "don't tell me things! I want to work it out myself!" or "I already figured it out, don't patronize me you son of a **** No big deal, anyway. It's a me-thing.
Fantastic game, a must play for anyone who likes old style adventures.

I really enjoyed this game. The characters and dialogue were excellent. The level of difficulty of the puzzles was just right - A good mixture of easy ones and ones which require a bit of thinking about. I also liked the option to change the music generation as it reminded me of some of the classics such as Sam & Max. It is obvious to me how much effort, time, skill, creativity, humour, attention to detail and love Tall Story Games has put into Lucy Dreaming.

It took me about 13 hours to complete the game but I went back for more because the world they have crafted is simply fun to be in. The level of imagination and escapism is high and I enjoyed engaging with the characters and storyline. The puzzles were challenging without being frustrating and felt like they were well-balanced so as not to distract from the fun while I was trying to solve them.

It’s funny too. I lost track of how many times I guffawed with delight at the humour on show. There are plenty of hidden references and moments within this game that still make me chuckle now. I’m so very tempted to write some here but I don’t want to spoil anything so you’ll have to play the game instead!

The music is great. I have found myself humming it as I’ve gone about my day, which leads nicely on to some of the game’s features. You can actually switch the style of music by pressing ‘M’ on your keyboard. You’ll see what I mean, and that’s very cool.

There’s also a language filter, and a useful hint button if you get really stuck. They are well-considered touches that show Tall Story Games wants this to be for everyone to enjoy.

The voice-acting is tremendously strong. Lucy herself feels real. She feels like a protagonist and I want her to succeed in her quest. That is in no small way down to the talent on show.

I love the 90s art style throughout, which obviously has been created with a lot of care. Make sure you click everything you see, combine everything you can, and enjoy the results.

All-in-all, it’s simply a tremendous game, and one that sits proudly within any gaming collection.

Yet most of all, and I don’t say this lightly, what Tall Story Games has successfully done with Lucy Dreaming is rekindle my love of gaming, and that is the greatest gift I could ask for.

    Summary:
Funny, enjoyable game with quirky loveable characters, logical puzzles and lots of love and attention to detail!
Don't rush through, but take your time to explore and do some silly stuff :) My first playthrough took 17 hours, but I'm usually on the slower side, especially with so much to explore. Long version: Awesome game, one of my favourite point&click adventures now!

Awesome game, one of my favourite point&click adventures now! It's amazing what a single developer can do!

Everything is incredibly well thought out with an insane amount of attention to detail. I love that there's not just the items that are relevant for progressing in the story, but a lot more to look at and interact with. For many of the possible combination of actions/items you get a unique response. A lot of them funny, too. You can totally get lost in the world and just explore to find all those funny comments and references. Lots of nostalgia in there, too. I'd really recommend to not rush through the game, but explore the world and do some silly things :)

The story is interesting and has 2 different layers to it.
Puzzles make sense to me. They are a good range from rather easy to just the right amount of challenging to give me a sense of achievement when solved, but they aren't frustrating.

I like Lucy, the main character, and also all those quirky characters she meets on her adventure. Voice-overs are great! The sound effects and music are good and create a fitting atmosphere in the different situations.

There are some options to customize the game to your liking, e.g. disable cursing, showing the hover texts in a static place or at your coursor, and if you want your mouse wheel to scroll through inventory or the different interactions you can do. There's game pad support, too.

A must play for fans of the genre, but also very enjoyable by people who are not hardcore point and click fans.

Maybe a bit too heavy on the old school game references at the beginning, which may discourage those who aren't fond of nostalgia, but they can be easily ignored as they're not vital for the plot. The humor is top notch, the puzzle design is good and the plot... oh, the

With its loveable cast of characters, just-right level of challenge, and compelling plot, Lucy Dreaming is a complete win for Tall Story Games and adventure game players alike. The puzzle difficulty ramps up beautifully, just as the plot becomes progressively more compelling until it reaches its incredibly satisfying payoff. I would encourage seeing this one through to the end, but I don’t think I have to: you’ll be hooked from the moment you press Play until the moment the credits roll.

There’s so much love and detail poured into Lucy Dreaming. That this was written and drawn and developed by one guy, Tom Hardwidge, is mindblowing. This is an enormous game, both in terms of length and sheer detail. I thoroughly recommend you give it a look.
