not sure why the ratings for this game are so bad, the graphics are amazing considering it was made in 2012. the puzzles could’ve been more complex but the whole dynamic and the cut scenes are super interesting.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Blend, short and uninspired game.

Lucius is a game about an evil little 6-year-old boy, that apparently is the son of Lucifer himself. The game is all about murdering everyone in your household and covering your tracks so nobody will know that it was you. Do this for around five hours and you beat Lucius.

There is a lame and cliché story about cultists, the birth of Lucius, his connection with his Devil father and how he came to be the evil boy he is today. The story itself has some potential but when playing the game, it is a wasted effort and feels misplaced. Imagine Tetris for example. You watch a movie about how the blocks can move on their own, how they came to be, and after that, you just place blocks and make rows disappear.

The game play is boring, repetitive and short. You use telekinesis and some sort of pyro thing to casually murder everyone, one at the time, in the manor you live in. Although you go to different places in the manor, it is the only location in the whole game and you cannot free roam. Every day you get a mission and need to follow a specific path. The rest is blocked off. When you arrive on your destination, you play some kind of mini game to setup the murder of the lifeless, empty and generic character that you want to send to the afterlife and then repeat this process a couple of times with some different mini game.

There is nothing else to this game. You repeat the same thing over and over. There is no inventory, no different approaches or different outcomes in a certain scenario and there is no satisfaction whatsoever. It feels, and is, all so scripted and empty, it almost plays like some sort of demo.

Graphically, the game is all right. The animations and the frame rate are smooth, and for the time, the overall game looks fine. Such as shame and wasted effort for a bad game like this.

The sound is terrible. All the effects and music are more blend than ever. They are ripped straight off some kind of open-source sound board.

To top it off, the game featured some achievements, which were all ridiculously easy. But, of course, they needed to add a filthy grind achievement, in which you play the game for forty hours….. The game is not even four to five hours long. This meant getting on my tricycle bike, putting a weight on my left arrow key and let the game beat itself. Sad, I know, but I like my games complete, no matter how bad they are.

Overall, Lucius was a boring, blend experience and I hoped it would get better, but sadly, it did not. It is just not worth it.

    Not recommending this one.

I loved it. It is a game where you have to kill each day a new person living in the mansion. Despite its hate its a really fun game

Even though there is only one way to kill each character these are really fun ways. Freeze a maid to death by trapoing her in a freezer, burning somebody to death etc..I really recommend this game and evn the whole series. Its a really fun game.

The game version of the movie ,however, really lacks the suspense and playability. Normally the role playing game's prim-task is to save to world or survive in the chaotic world, but this one's eliminate every one close to you, one by one, without being noticed, and that maybe the only uniqueness about it. Undeniably, the feeling of wrong-doing could be a kill-joy for many.

That's not a chocker considering i like to blow up thing in a similar fashion to a terrorist but alass, let's get this game pinned down to what it actually is: A satanic game.

    Whoopty-frickin'-doo.
I mean, it's never easy to talk about a game in which you collect souls from innocent beings (well, mostly) and lend them right over to the devil in exchange for more power and abilities.
Gee, i wonder why so few games are made in the spirit of straight-up satanic murder. Hurr durr.

Anyways; in this game you do.... what i just said, really.
You toy around with your surroundings, destroying machinery, rig special environments to work in your favor, etc. The game relies on puzzles which i don't really like. Cuz' i suck at dem puzzles u no wat am sayan'?

That's basically it! i mean, i could go into detail about the puzzles and so on, and i'm gonna' do it to brighten up your mind. You have abilites such as mind control, telekinesis, and visa versa. You use mind control on weak-minded people.

    An example would be the one case right right here: *spoilers. You trick a woman into thinking that her love interest loves someone else... the hardcore way of course. After that she goes to the balcony weeping and her mind has weakened from this... "occation", which makes it easier to mind-control her. And then you know;

    Balcony + mind-control = Swan dive

However, puzzles tend to be very hard and not giving any direction as of what you're supposed to do.
    I.... f*cking.... hate..... PUZZLES!!1!!!

    *sigh.

Alright, alright. Let's round this up.

    Pros:

    1) The game manages to be a rather calming experience, which is nice.
    2) The soundtrack doesen't loop, instead it switches to another tune once the previous one has ended. It's also very nice.
    3) Mechanics and physics are a nice touch.

    Cons:

    1) Graphics are laughable.
    2) Puzzles are very hard and not very "rewarding"
    3) The game is very repetetive and boring sometimes.
    4) Jacksh*t sequel (this doesen't really matter)

Please don't beat me to death.

I was hoping for a Hitman/Omen combination. There 'Omen' atmosphere is created perfectly, but there is very little choice (none, to be precise) making this game linear and just an interactive movie. You have super powers like telekinesis or mind control which will be upgraded (it's done automatically and I don't see much point in doing that to be honest). Thankfully you can skip cutscenes as you WILL fail a few times, at least once.
The mansion is huge and beautiful and you can open, pick up all sorts of objects but again, there is no point in doing it. The game provides very little or too much guidance. Sometimes you just don't know what to do next, another time you feel like playing through FC3 Blood Dragon's tutorial.
All in all, it is a decent game that could've been a hit. If only there was more than one way to kill people and if there was real stealth (yes, unfortunately hiding from your mum in the darkest corner in a huge room, behind a sofa, with lights off, at night, doesn't protect you from being spotted... this is btw the moment when you WILL fail at least once, you'll know when it comes).
Hugely disappointing game that somewhat redeems itself after a completed playthrough (it's a nice story and beautifully looking game).
Voice acting and animations are terrible too. But the game still manages to make up for it in a strange manner. You even have a little tricycle, just like in The Shining. Well done.
It is a game for adults - gore, violence, sex and nudity (and I mean it).
Lucius's potential has not been used. It's just another title you will forget after a while. Play time - 5 hours.

A great idea but poor execution with a very limiting storyline. Quirky game play and skills but ultimately somewhat dry and hard to chew as the game progresses. It is also very short for something that could have been expanded much further with more depth maybe into the target characters/side characters to make it a more engaging story.

An adventure game, without a quicksave option, is NOTHING. Game is also nice, although it has several technical challenges, but definitely passable. but without a quicksave is really ridiculous. I can not in the least understand how a developer does not reach this minimum basic concept

Lucius’s main premise is amazing. But the execution could have been way more solid. It limits the player, it’s ruthlessly and unjustly difficult in some cases, the characters pale and the graphics fail to impress. Lucius will be remembered as a great idea that “could have been”. [December 2012]

There's a lot of content on offer for the reduced price, and Lucius will certainly appeal to puzzle enthusiasts who want a darker edge to their adventuring, or murder enthusiasts who'd like to give their brain a work out rather than their stabbing arm.
