I wanted to like Lovecraft Quest. I love the lore of Lovecraft and try to give a chance to any game that uses it but this was not my type of game. The art is well done and the comic book style is great but I got tired real fast of the random feeling of the game. I love the lore of Lovecraft and try to give a chance to any game that uses it but this was not my type of game. The art is well done and the comic book style is great but I got tired real fast of the random feeling of the game. You are unable to save at any point so if you manage to solve one of the puzzles you will be starting from scratch and solving them again if you die. Also due to the random nature of the game which rooms are safe are different each playthrough so there is little point in keeping track of which rooms are safe and you’ve been in.

I played Lovecraft Quest on Linux. I used version 1.6 of the game from Itch.io. The game didn’t have any spelling errors I noticed. The game never crashed in the short time I played it. It only used 5% of my CPU; 3GB of systen RAM total; 2% of my CPU; and 321MB of VRAM.

I give Lovecraft Quest points for style but when it comes to gameplay it was not for me. I only played through ten minutes of the game but that was enough time to gather these thoughts. I paid $6.88 CAD for the game.

    My Score: 5/10

Stylish to look at but short on substance, Lovecraft Quest: A Comix Game has a few fun puzzles to beef up its brief story, but too much repetition stops it from becoming a Great One.
