This game defines average. Leveron Space is a very simple space combat simulator, going from mission to mission or allowing you to simply jumpThis game defines average. Leveron Space is a very simple space combat simulator, going from mission to mission or allowing you to simply jump into combat using a ship against the enemy. The gameplay is basic, offering little to a small genre. The controls are tight, with some basic issues concerning friction in empty space.

You are shuffled from map to map with a basic story to tie it all together. Do not pay much attention to the story, it is uninteresting and very bland. NPCs are introduced with no fanfare and you soon forget who they are or even what side of the combat they belong to. Missions are either "kill all enemies" or "fetch satellites" with no variance between.

Graphics are an issue with this game. The settings are limited, offering a way to change the screen resolution, using v-sync, fullscreen or windowed options, and the vaguest quality choices I've ever seen. At no point did I see a difference between "epic" and "low" in either quality or stability. The game will, regardless, plummet to unacceptable framerates when new ships are added or there are too many explosions. This being a space combat simulator, that's about once every few minutes.

The ship you see in promotional materials is the ship you use throughout the entire game. Paltry upgrades are offered seemingly at random and only give the illusion of customization as, at the time you acquire them, the enemy ships are tougher. This gives the impression that the weapons are simply not doing any more damage that the predecessor.

To conclude, this game will bring a few hours of entertainment, when it is running smoothly, but nothing to go back to. There is no multiplayer, no replayability, and the most boring of stories. Currently being offered on Steam for $10, I'd suggest you spend your money elsewhere.
