Such an adorable pixel art game with lots of depth! It's been so satisfying unlocking all the animals and building up my nice zoo with farms and nice food. I've been following the roadmap and I'm excited to see where the game goes next!!

While being able to breed elephants with ducks sounds like fun, unlocking that part of the game will require you to play many hours of a sub par tycoon game. There is only one save slot, and you can't even save whenever you want. Meaning that you can't experiment with building a "good" or "evil" zoo. Instead you would have to start over to do that. Unlocking everything all over again, which is, as I already mentioned, not exactly a spectacular experience.

Growing your zoo also means more and more useless busywork since important quality-of-life features are missing, leading to insane micromanagement while at the same time not really managing anything. Most of those mechanics only cut into the flow and fun without having any depth to them, and overall you never feel like you achieved more than putting another checkmark behind a long, long list of similar tasks that never challenge you, and only require patience, but not skill, thinking or creativity. While a lot of interesting ideas went into this, the mix doesn't work and is dragged down by bad balancing, UI, controls and a cute, but lazy presentation.

Very nice zoo sim, with a lot of well designed micro management and a cute graphic style.

I adore the art and themes in this game so so much. It's very cute with loads of deep options for your zoo, I think I've played 40 hours already just on one zoo, making hybrids and cafe plazas and things!

A relaxed chaos full of cute little animals that you shouldn't miss, as long as you can overlook minor bugs.

Let’s Build a Zoo is an entertaining little title that will be an enjoyable sim for any fan of the management genre. All the details and options afforded to the player show clear thought and care, and thanks to this quality, it’s quite easy to lose track of time while creating an ideal zoo full of cute crocodile-giraffe hybrids.

To summarize, Let’s Build A Zoo is a very satisfying, darkly funny and moreish tycoon game. A few tiny glitches are the only issues with a game I imagine I’ll be revisiting many, many times over the next few months. There’s just so much to do and it does it all with a unique, macabre charm. It’s unlikely I’ll ever see all 300,000 animal hybrids you can Cronenberg together but I’ll sure have a good time making my (bacon factory) zoo along the way.
