Lethe shows real promise, but perhaps not as a hardcore horror experience. Its well-crafted environments make for an adventure that’s less than scary but more than unsettling – an imperfect but enjoyable journey into a dark world that looks realistic but feels hollow.

Lethe’s story starts off as one thing and transitions into something different. It can be difficult to follow when you’re trying to figure out who’s voice you’re reading. But the atmosphere completely makes up for it in many ways, so if you choose to ignore the story, you might find the scary elements enjoyable. It’s not a revolutionary horror game and it might not scare diehard horror fans but there’s some fun to take away from this game.

Decent atmospheric tile with a nice price tag; very similar to "Amnesia the dark descent".
some easy puzzles and abilities similar to those

    GOOD

Decent horror atmosphere and level design that makes the experience enjoyable and keeps you going. Some good scares towards the end.

    BAD

Horrible banding all over the place. Might be an artistic choice, but I hated it. Very janky controls which makes basic movement frustrating. I kept getting stuck between boxes, or getting hurt from objects bugging out and flying at me. The physics are ridiculous. Mouse acceleration makes turning very awkward and it can't be turned off. Also getting out of water is impossibly hard.

You get telekinetic powers, but you basically only use them for moving objects out of your way 99% of the time and even this can be a real chore at times.

I felt like the story was poorly told. Only a few scattered notes which didn't reveal much and the protagonist's thought in the loading screens.

A bit amateurish sound design. Sounds weirdly cut off when you stop doing an action which sounds very unnatural and sometimes breaks immersion. Some things don't even make any sounds. Music is sometimes needlessly intense and used in inappropriate situations.
