Lego 2K Drive is a tectonic shift for the kart racing genre, Featuring tight driving controls, energetic races, and an expansive open world, it speeds into pole position past its Mascot-dominated contemporaries.

LEGO 2K Drive is a really fun expierence for younger, but also older LEGO fans. The games has many incredible things to offer. For example, there are many really enjoyable challenges to find in the open world, and it's incredibly cool to build your own racecar with LEGO bricks. The story is a bit unoriginal and the game has microtransactions, what we could expect from a game made by 2K. Nevertheless, everyone who enjoys LEGO or arcade-racers, should give this game a shot!

Lego 2K Drive has everything a family should have. You can play it co-op with friends, families, especially little kids, and have a blast time. The creation part of the game is rich and just wait to see some of the most amazing cars build by the community of Lego in this game. The overall design of race tracks and side missions could have been better, but the part that is weak compared to all other things in the game.

Fun arcade racer for young and old Lego fans that absolutely didn't need a cash shop or any season passes.

Ultimately LEGO 2K Drive is an arcade kart racing game with a solid core, but it trips itself up with design choices that try to increase the so-called engagement time, in the hope that the player will always nab something from the emporium. It's not bad, but it's certainly not as fun as the games it draws inspiration from.

LEGO 2K Drive has an unexpectedly beautiful world, short challenges, and many collectibles that encourage exploration with memorable races and great content. However, weapons need better implementation, and side activities could've been designed to suit the gameplay better, not to mention the push for microtransactions to buy new vehicles.

A fun, if repetitive, kart racer whose charms are sullied by its predatory microtransactions targeted right at young children.

Every other game had horrible performance issues and this is so far the best game you can play in 2023. Story is really funny with typical Lego game humor. Biggest point for me is that this game has only 10 GB. It’s smallest AAA game I’ve seen in a while. Absolutely recommend this for PS5 as a gift for a children or fans of racing games. So far I didn’t had any issues with game on PC. I have more issues with forza horizon 5 which is 2 years old game than with this release and that says much about state of this game. Expand

Bricktastic! Just beware of the awful, poorly thought out, horde of micro-transaction content.

The game-play is brilliant, the maps are brilliant, the mini games are a decent laugh, the car creator is great. THE MICRO TRANSACTIONS ARE TRASH.... especially for the high price tag. DLC packs containing licensed content are the way this game should have gone (If it had to have some form of monetization). Certainly not £5 for a mediocre in house creation, £2.50 for brick packs and mini figures, that should be free... The battle pass is another price gouge, whilst ridiculous i can accept this providing it has some worth (licensed cars, maps etc.)

Other reviews make out you must grind for 100+ hours to get a car. This isn't quite true (Its not quite Gran Turismo 7, RIP), id say its about 4-6 hours for the average decent vehicle.

Overall the game is good, i'd highly recommend, but £59.99 leaves a sour taste in your mouth. If you can get it for around the £30 mark, id say its a great buy. At the end of the day it offers just as much as something like MK, Crash TR or Sonic All Stars, if not more in some senses, It just has a whole world of BS (Micro-transactions) sprinkled on top. That doesn't mean you should ignore the great game that lies beneath. With 24 tracks (excluding some i haven't unlocked), 6 mini games, a car creator, a campaign, an open world and a whole host of other shenanigans, its actually a healthy offering. Handles great too, has great split screen and a bustling online multiplayer. Pretty much 0 bugs at launch too (other than the offline save issue), when does that ever happen with a AAA?

So make of it what you will, some people will enjoy it, others will hate it but i would advise against writing it off without giving it a go first.

The game itself is good, but much too short. Just enough to motivate you to buy something. Terrible business methods.

The precedent that 2K/Lego are trying to present here is appalling. A **LEGO** racing game that at first glance you would think would be amazing for children and families alike. Perhaps an awesome alternative to Mario Kart that isn’t restricted to Nintendo.

But then you see it’s overpriced price tag, and think wow this must be an awesome premium game right? Lol nope, this is not only overpriced, BUT also incorporates microtransactions AND a battle pass system.

“B-but it’s just cosmetics” the defenders will say, but limiting the creativity of customisation in a game rated for children is horrendously stupid if not borderline illegal. Don’t waste your time with this game if 2K/Lego don’t value you and your wallet.

It’s a shame as the gameplay definitely has some substance but feels more like an early access, than an actual complete game. Perhaps due to the decision to make this into what appears to be a live service game.
