This game is a great improvement over the original Left 4 Dead. The only aspect to the game that is rather annoying is that in Versus mode, the Infected wins probably >70% of the time. You have to be AMAZING at the game to beat four player-controlled infected.

Captures the spirit of the first one and adds a lot of new things. If you've got friends and want to have a good time with them, by all means, buy this.

Left4Dead 2 is great, even better than the first. They improved so much...additional weapons, more special infected and campaign challenges. The melee weapons are just fun, period (chainsaw, hehe). The spitters force the group split up by running from the acid, the charger can take out the entire team, the jockey, though hilarious, can be a menace. As for the campaigns, wow, running along a roller coaster, making your way through a building infested with witches, or a parking lot completely stocked with alarm cars, and Hard Rain, having to conserve items for the run back to the boat. I can go on and on about how fun this game is, but I won't. Go find out for yourself. Happy Hunting Expand

Left 4 Dead 2 was high on my list this year, and it appears my expecations were right; this game is the best multiplayer game ever! Not only does it include a lot of features to just play with a couple of friends, but the new modes also gave our clan a lot more possibilities! Good job VALVe!

Amazing action and improved in nearly every way! If you're a horror or zombie movie fan, especially, you simply MUST play this game. L4D was my favorite game of last year and now L4D2 is my fav game of 2009! Highly recommended.

Anyone who actually thinks that Valve is going to "sabotage" their reputation with this game is in need of a brain transplant, and needs to stop being a zombie *haha*. This turned out to be so much better than I had anticipated, and yes its really similar to L4D but thats not such a bad thing, you dont have to mess with a winning strategy. Its vastly improved on many aspects, and the sunlight isn't as nearly as bad as some people complain about. If anything, just get L4D2 for Hard Rain, it is awesome and is by far my favourite level out of all L4D and L4D2 campaigns. And a note to people who say this game stole KF weapons... have you ever watched a zombie movie in your life? Most of those weapons are cliched, thats why they use 'em, like the chainsaw... (and L4D2 > L4D > KF ) I like KF don't get me wrong, but lets be honest here... Anyways, my verdict is go get L4D2, valve has another go-buy-it title under their belts. Expand

Those who indulge in the self-satisfying blasphemy of this game, due to it supposedly being "just like the original", or " just an expansion" (to the original) are incredibly pathetic, and uninformed claims. As you will find with ANY quick and easy Google search, or shoot, simply a quick run-through on the demo, you will know first-hand that this game is a NEW- and IMPROVED game. Of course, Left 4 Dead (1) was such an original game, many felt that to play through it was an, almost, religious experience. And ok, so Valve may have had hopes of providing you with more than 3 substantial DLC's for the original - but thoses are all FREE - and they've already provided 2/3 of that content. I'm sorry, onto Left4Dead 2 - I've played this game extensively on PC AND XBox 360... no doubt about it - PC reigns supreme . The graphics are so much more defined, and the gibs are so overwhelming, that when I played the 360 version, I thought maybe there was a bug (that was omitting such quality gibs). ANYWAYS - look, if you own a PC that can run TF@, or L4D (1, original), or Half-life 2 ep's - you'll HAVE NO REGRETS purchasing L4D2. It's my newest favorite game since the original! Expand

Like L4D1 with more art, less story, and tons of new bugs. It's amusing enough for L4D1 fans, until you play long enough to realize any concept of single player is destroyed by even dumber bots, versus is a constant battle against game bugs rather than adversaries, leaving you online campaign mode as relatively fun. I expected far far far more from Valve.

Fantastic evolution of the original game. The new special infected add some much needed tactical prowess to the infected team in VS, allowing them to attack survivors in situations where they'd normally be completely secure in the first game. The crescendo events are much more varied and intense, relying less on the now stale "hit a button and camp" situations that dominated l4d1. Fantastic evolution of the original game. Environments are much more detailed and varied, with some nice interactive touches (carnival games, anyone?) L4D1 was a great game, but felt a little more like a "proof of concept" than a fully matured title. This game takes everything and dials it up to 11, fleshing out the concept and providing a robust and matured gameplay experience. Hate all you want on the 1 year dev cycle or the price (easily mitigated by getting a 4 pack with friends), this game beats the first in all categories. Expand

Tons of fun. I like Killing Floor and L4D1 as well. Killing Floor has different gameplay. Yeah, you shoot zombies in both and both are fun. L4D2 has been fun, I've played it non-stop since the release with absolutely no issues on a three-year old computer with a mid-range video card (9800GT).

Don't listen to those who are saying that this game brings no innovation because it is called Left 4 Dead 2 and builds on the same basis as the first: There are only two games that are evfen remotely like that, Left 4 Dead, and Left 4 Dead 2. Lastly, the people voting this game with 0s or 1s are not giving balanced opinions and seem to merely be trying to 'sabotage' the games meta-score. I have played killing floor and found it to be a really boring experience and every game I played was full of players with 'l33t' attitudes, nerd-dictators, that take computer games way to seriously and like to shout at and order other people around... Whereas once we treated Left 4 Dead as a stopgap between Half-Lifes, this is no longer a weird little side project with modest expectations, and Valve is confident enough to play around with it, safe in the knowledge that you can trust your players.
