This game is best when you are playing with 8 people in versus and trust me its amazing. The map design the ai of the game allow the game to be as fair as possible with no **** weapon spawns cause the ai will give you loot base on how good you are doing and spawn zombies base on how good you are doing so there is no rng in this game .all the zombie and special infected are really well design. the zombie scream , the music for the special infected(especially the tankmusic) and the ai of the zombies are great (unlike back 4 blood) buy the game and play with your friends now its literally 5 -1 dollars don't buy back 4 blood. oh and the characters are great unlike back 4 blood and well written Expand

L4D2 in my opinion is the best fps coop based zombie game the market has ever had. Workshop addons make this evolve into a such incredible thing with free sk1ns, free campaigns, free models, free sounds, free everything.. Just cause we love to make addons for this game...

With this workshop endless content and a very fun and challenging gameplay you could be playing for so long without getting bored if you enjoy the game.

There is a good skill cap where a very good player can roll through a expert campaign without needing of farming/p2wining or anything new decade has sadly brought to us... Is all about how good you and your teammates are.

The only thing that could be considered "bad" for someone is that the graphics are old as its a game from 2009.

As for game modes there are several, and each of them unique in its own way.
ㅤCampaign. This is where you play coop PvE through a series of levels on a map
ㅤMutations. These are extra spices you can add into your campaigns such as only swords.
ㅤSurvival. Wave based survival time based.
ㅤVersus campaign. Same as campaign but special zombies are players
ㅤVersus survival. Same as survival but special zombies are again players
ㅤScavenge. Here you have to fill a generator and Z players try to stop you

Ending here, this is one of the master pieces of valve, and a game I think I will be playing forever.
Thanks valve for this quality, and for adding the workshop!

TL;DR: The game is best fps zombie shooter with endless content due to community based uploads in the workshop. The graphics are old.

The heart and soul of the game lie in the relentless waves of zombies that you and your team must conquer, and the joy of teamwork and cooperation that come along with it. The gameplay is nothing short of fantastic, allowing you to focus on the thrill of slaying endless hordes of undead without being burdened by complex mechanics.

As a sequel to the beloved original Left 4 Dead, this game lives up to the expectations set by its predecessor. It comes packed with almost everything that made the first game great, and to sweeten the deal, it even includes the original campaigns. However, it's worth noting that while the core gameplay remains exceptional, some players may find themselves missing the ambiance, and darker tone of the first installment. Regardless, exploring both games provides a richer experience, showcasing the evolution of the series over time.

Though Left 4 Dead 2 has a story, it takes a backseat to the heart-pounding co-op gameplay. Let's be honest, the true joy comes from joining forces with friends to survive the relentless onslaught of infected. The camaraderie and excitement of cooperative play overshadow the narrative, but that's precisely what makes Left 4 Dead 2 so addictively fun.

To my German friends and those facing gaming censorship in their countries, listen up: Don't miss out on the Uncensored DLC. This addition is crucial for an unfiltered and unrestricted gaming experience, giving you the freedom to fully enjoy the game.

In conclusion, Left 4 Dead 2 is a masterpiece in co-op survival gaming that captivates players with its action-packed and immersive gameplay. Whether you're a seasoned fan of the series or new to the zombie apocalypse genre, this game is an absolute must-play. Gather your squad, gear up, and brace yourselves for an unforgettable adventure through the zombie-infested world. The thrills and cooperative joy will keep you hooked for hours on end. And hopefully we will live to see Valve create a sequel with number 3 in it.

Left 4 Dead 2, developed by Valve, stands as a definitive and unparalleled zombie survival game that sets the bar high for cooperative multiplayer experiences. With its intense gameplay, exceptional replay value, and innovative AI Director system, this game delivers a heart-pounding and immersive experience that remains unmatched in the genre.

From the moment players step into the world of Left 4 Dead 2, they are immediately thrust into the chaos of a zombie apocalypse. The game excels in creating a tense and atmospheric atmosphere, with its dark and detailed environments, chilling sound design, and gruesome zombie designs. The visual and audio presentation work harmoniously to immerse players in a world overrun by the undead, evoking a sense of urgency and dread.

The cooperative gameplay in Left 4 Dead 2 is where the game truly shines. Playing with friends or teaming up with other players online, the camaraderie and teamwork required to survive the relentless onslaught of infected is exhilarating. Each of the game's unique campaigns offers a thrilling and cinematic experience, filled with intense firefights, desperate escapes, and unforgettable moments of triumph. The game perfectly captures the essence of surviving against overwhelming odds, making every playthrough feel like a thrilling movie.

One of the standout features of Left 4 Dead 2 is its innovative AI Director system. This dynamic system adjusts the gameplay experience in real-time based on the players' performance, ensuring each playthrough feels fresh and challenging. The Director controls the placement of weapons, health packs, and even the number and type of zombies, resulting in unpredictable and adrenaline-pumping encounters. The replay value is immense, as no two playthroughs are exactly the same.

The game's roster of diverse and memorable characters adds depth and personality to the experience. Each character possesses their own unique personality and playstyle, providing a variety of tactical options for players. Whether players prefer the stealthy approach of Rochelle, the firepower of Coach, or the medical expertise of Zoey, there is a character to suit every player's preference. The witty banter and dynamic between the characters further enhance the immersion and entertainment value.

Left 4 Dead 2 offers a robust selection of game modes, including the iconic cooperative campaign, competitive versus mode, and the intense survival and scavenge modes. The game caters to different playstyles and preferences, ensuring there is always something exciting to do. The inclusion of a powerful level editor and modding support also extends the game's lifespan, allowing players to create and share their own unique experiences.

While Left 4 Dead 2 is a near-perfect experience, it is worth mentioning that the game's AI-controlled teammates may sometimes exhibit questionable decision-making and pathfinding. However, this minor flaw is overshadowed by the overall excellence of the game's cooperative gameplay and replayability.

Left 4 Dead 2 remains an undisputed masterpiece in the realm of zombie survival games. Its intense gameplay, exceptional replay value, and innovative AI Director system set it apart from its peers. The cooperative experience is unmatched, fostering camaraderie and adrenaline-fueled moments of survival. With its immersive atmosphere, memorable characters, and a wealth of content, Left 4 Dead 2 delivers an unparalleled zombie survival experience. It unquestionably deserves a perfect 10/10 rating for its outstanding gameplay, enduring legacy, and ability to keep players coming back for more thrilling zombie encounters.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great improvement over the original game.

Left 4 Dead 2 is a big improvement over its predecessor. It features more weapons, more enemy types, a lot more maps and a new set of characters.

In the core, it is the same game. You shoot the living hell out of zombies and try to reach the safe house and eventually, the extraction point. Underway hordes of infected and special infected make your life miserable and you measure every inch that you progress forward.

I really liked the new weapons like the Desert Eagle and all the new melee weapons that you can use now.

There are also a lot more maps and more were added later on via DLC, and user made maps. It keeps the game going strong, even today. They even added the maps from the original Left 4 Dead to this installment.

The new enemy types are a nice addition to Left 4 Dead 2, like the horrifying Spitter, who bathes you in acid.

I have to say that I did not like the Charger that much. It runs towards you with light speed, giving you a split second to react, and then beats the living sh!t out of you in a rapid pace. Almost anytime a hear the low-pitched scream in the distance, I thought: “yep, this is going to hurt”. But the absolute most annoying little bugger is the Jockey. It is a junkie hunchback, high on speed. And speed is right here. He is so freaking fast (and small) that hitting him is a real pain in the butt. When he reaches you, he rides on your neck like a horse, and you can only shamble left and right. I always hated this little piece of filth. But overall, it adds some new challenge to the game.

The Tank and Witch are also back and stronger than ever. In Left 4 Dead 2, the Witch actually walks back and forth, while covering her eyes. This greatly improves the chance of you getting on her bad side and we all know what happens next.

The Tank, for some reason, feels even stronger and more dangerous than the first game. As if he was not strong enough yet. His animations and fighting pattern are different and when he goes full Mike Tyson on you, he kills you so dead, that you reincarnate into an abortion.

The graphics in Left 4 Dead have been greatly improved and still look beautiful to this day. The weapons are polished, the lighting of the sky and glimmering objects looks stunning and the detail and variation of the infected is great.

In Left 4 Dead 2, the infected now have rag doll and you can dismember them. This is an epic upgrade from the first game.

In the sound department, there are some nice improvements too. The gunfire sounds even better in this game and the gurgling sounds the infected make are a lot better now.

The classic versus mode, in which you can be a special infected, is also back and, because of the more special infected you can choose from, is more fun than ever.

Overall, Left 4 Dead 2 is a worthy successor for the first one and stacked full on extra content and hours of fun.

Like the first game, I definitely recommend this one.

Among these exceptional creations, Left 4 Dead 2 stands out as a true gem that has captured the hearts of millions around the globe. With its unparalleled blend of intense gameplay, immersive storytelling, and cooperative experience, Left 4 Dead 2 has rightfully earned its place as the best game of all time.

    Unmatched Cooperative Gameplay:
One of the key aspects that make Left 4 Dead 2 the best game ever is its remarkable cooperative gameplay. The game emphasizes teamwork, as players must work together to survive hordes of infected creatures. This cooperative approach fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared experiences, making it an ideal game for playing with friends. The strategic planning, coordination, and reliance on teammates create an unparalleled sense of immersion that few games have been able to replicate.

    Dynamic and Challenging Gameplay:
Left 4 Dead 2 offers a gameplay experience that is both dynamic and challenging. The game's "Director" system ensures that no two playthroughs are the same, as it constantly adjusts the difficulty, item placement, and enemy spawns based on the players' performance. This ever-changing nature of the game keeps players on their toes, forcing them to adapt their strategies and approach to each situation. The adrenaline-pumping action sequences, intense gunfights, and heart-stopping moments make Left 4 Dead 2 an exhilarating gaming experience that is hard to match.

    Immersive and Detailed Environments:
The game's meticulous attention to detail in its environments is another factor that sets Left 4 Dead 2 apart. From the desolate streets of Savannah to the haunting swamps of Louisiana, each level is crafted with care and precision. The atmospheric design, coupled with dynamic lighting and sound effects, creates an immersive experience that transports players into a post-apocalyptic world. The richly detailed environments contribute to the overall realism and make the game visually stunning.

    Compelling and Engaging Storytelling:
Left 4 Dead 2 excels in delivering a compelling and engaging storyline. While the plot may seem simple at first glance, the game successfully draws players into its world through intriguing characters and well-crafted narratives. The survivors' personal stories unfold gradually, creating a sense of investment and emotional connection. Each campaign presents unique challenges, objectives, and memorable encounters, ensuring that players remain engaged throughout their journey.

    Enduring Replayability:
Even after years since its release, Left 4 Dead 2 continues to captivate players with its enduring replayability. The game's extensive modding community has contributed to the creation of countless additional campaigns, maps, and modifications, expanding the game's content and providing a wealth of new experiences. Moreover, the cooperative nature of the game encourages players to revisit it time and again, as no two playthroughs are ever exactly alike. The ability to engage in both online and local multiplayer further enhances the game's replay value, ensuring that it remains a go-to choice for gamers even today.

    Conclusion:
Left 4 Dead 2's combination of exceptional cooperative gameplay, dynamic challenges, immersive environments, captivating storytelling, and enduring replayability undoubtedly solidifies its position as the best game of all time. Its ability to provide unparalleled thrills, foster a sense of camaraderie, and offer an ever-changing gaming experience sets it apart from its peers. Left 4 Dead 2 has not only left an indelible mark in the gaming industry but has also given players countless hours of enjoyment, making it a timeless masterpiece that continues to be celebrated by gamers worldwide.

L4D2 (as L4D did) combines simplicity, teamwork, and of course - the sheer pleasure of killing hundreds of rabid people. To answer some things people have complained about: Why isn't there a radar? Why can't they just highlight my teammates? Well, first of all - the game (as I see it) was made to be realistic. Do normal people carry a radar (or for that matter have access to one?) and also - it's not hard to discern your teammates from zombies, they do highlight them when you mouse over them as friendly AND as I have mentioned before - the game is supposed to be realistic, giving a radar or always highlighting your teammates just makes the game less ... well - real.. and would definitely dumb the game down if such was done. Then theres, "omg friendly fire is soooo bad." Well, let's be real. if you get shot in normal mode it isn't so bad - but as the difficulty is raised, it only makes sense that you and your teammates would be better players and AVOID shooting each other, with the addition that greater damage = better deterrent for shooting each other. This also promotes better teamwork which is crucial as you go up in difficulty level. If you're complaining that friendly fire sucks - get better teammates or shoot better maybe? The realism in this game may be too much for most people - the water slowing you down makes sense (have you ever trudged through water and mud before? It's not a fast paced activity) - though I completely agree to when the water is just up to the ankles, it shouldn't be a tough walk (If Valve wanted to be more realistic, they'd have people slip, but people would cry and whine about that being lame as usual). To reflect upon the weapon damage though, I totally agree that the guns do less damage than melee - and it's unrealistic that melee should be that great in comparison to a gun (not everyone has superhuman strength after all) - and I agree that that needs to be adjusted. Other negatives are that even if you do play on expert - the original game is too short and that I suppose the pvp makes up for it... though I'd rather see more story too. All in all, L4D2 is a great game - there are different difficulty settings for a reason. Need a stress reliever? Play on easy and go berserk. Want to play with others without screaming about friendly fire? Play on normal. Got a good team of friends and want a challenge? Then advanced and expert is for you. The difficulty scale actually makes sense in this game - so heed it well. If you're crying about how other people suck - well then you're probably unlucky with team match-up (i've had a couple of those before, don't feel like it's a reason to hate on the game). I mean, yes it's not that different from the first - but it's solid, it's good, it's definitely a keeper. I'm not a fanboy/girl whatever you want to call it of this game, but I feel like people aren't taking this game for what it is (like Quentin Tarentino films). It's NOT COD, it's NOT Borderlands - it's a totally different game from those - so give it a try before turning it away based on what other people have said because it's worth a shot (zing!). Expand

I gave it this score because of the tactics and teamwork that is engrained into this FPS. As this is a sequel I'll just discuss the things that separate this from the original. I agree with those that are annoyed at the price of the game, it doesn't seem to detract too far from the original in terms of graphics and 'the feel' of it. However I never bought the original I gave it this score because of the tactics and teamwork that is engrained into this FPS. As this is a sequel I'll just discuss the things that separate this from the original. I agree with those that are annoyed at the price of the game, it doesn't seem to detract too far from the original in terms of graphics and 'the feel' of it. However I never bought the original so it doesnt annoy me a lot. :P Also 2 those that are disappointed that it is not like the original, i consider it better for this reason. The Reason: The 'Versus' ('VS') gametype has been amped up considerably. The introduction of new SI presents more threats to the survivors, that make no place on the map safe. Eg; The introduction of the spitter eliminates corner camping and the charger also makes alleyways EXTREMELY dangerous for combined Special Infected ('SI') attacks. A constantly wary and skilful team is needed to meet these challenges. It seems to me that VALVE really listened to the competitive VS community from the original, and I commend them for that. Digressing a little, I think the 'VS' experience could have been made much more challenging for the survivors, by putting down less medpacks, and to the side of the beaten path, forcing them to divert from the 'railway tracks' from point A to point B. Plus there needs to be a reduction in the amount of ammo in the weapons. The game does not award accuracy, as ammo and weapon stockpiles are everywhere, and sheer 'spraying' from automatic weapons is not punished. It is harder to use the infected but this is only a matter of concern for mostly competitive and serious players. If there is any reason to be longing for the old game it would be minor things such as the greater chemistry and personalities of the survivors, certain weapons and 'simpler' VS experience. Personally I love being able to casually get online with a bunch of friends, in a game that promotes conversation, shoot zombies and watch the visually appealing decapitations/blood-squirts. On a final note if you enjoy the artistry of competitive play l4d2 will not disappoint (but you have to be a team player. Expand

And ok, so Valve may have had hopes of providing you with more than 3 substantial DLC's for the original - but thoses are all FREE - and they've already provided 2/3 of that content. I'm sorry, onto Left4Dead 2 - I've played this game extensively on PC AND XBox 360... no doubt about it - PC reigns supreme . The graphics are so much more defined, and the gibs are so overwhelming, that when I played the 360 version, I thought maybe there was a bug (that was omitting such quality gibs). The demo suggested very little, and I thought to myself perhaps it'd be foolish to buy such a game, when the first Left 4 Dead is satisfactory enough. But it was when there were hordes of zombies coming towards us, a tank coming out from behind a corner, and a friend of mine shouting random orders into my ear whilst the rest of us complied, did I realise that it is just so much fun to play! When you've got 3 good friends, who understand the mechanics of the game, and will watch out for your back whilst you watch theirs do you actually have fun. It is an easy game to get immersed into, as there is so much going on. People complain against the replay factor, saying that there isn't one, but there is! Even when you play the same campaign with the same friends as the same people taking the same routes, there is always something different. The game itself is also a vast improvement on its predeccesor. Graphics are improved, but most of all, there is a story being played underneath it all, which reminds me of what Valve does best in its games like Portal and Half-Life. I found it easier to identify with the characters in Left 4 Dead 2 than in Left 4 Dead, and i found the story to be much better as well. There was more humour, but that didn't take away what could be perceived as... for use of a better phrase... the fear factor. Left 4 Dead 2 has some of the best written campaigns in any game (pointing fingers at Hard Rain here, with two thumbs up). Also, to sum up quickly, cause anyone reading this will be bored to tears, melee weapons... where have you been all our lives? What bothers me most about this game is the melee weapons. After 200 hours of play, they still seem idiotic to me, breaking my immersion in the game - it's hard to believe in a sword relyably taking down 4 common opponents in a swing, let alone a heavy frying pan taking out 5. The weapon selection no longer feels anemic, and melee (As well as ammo running out more readily, but maybe that's just me) adds another layer of strategy. Almost double the number of playable infected, means the mechanics jumps from being simple to being just tightly well designed, and uncommon common add an even greater variety, while new items builds on subtleties within strategies without muddling the core game play. Valve has clearly gotten far more comfortable with experimenting with new sorts of gameplay, especially with the crescendo events, and it has paid off in spades. The hurricane weather effect is particularly memorable. Also, 5 campaigns, and a variety of other game modes ensures that getting board with doing the same thing will become a thing of the past. There are only 2 weaknesses: The first is that the characters, with the exception of Ellis, are no where near as memorable or interesting as the original team. The second is that the Source engine starts to show its age rather badly when brought into the daylight. It's certainly acceptable, but it no longer has anywhere near the same wow factor as it did back in 2004. In the Dead Carnival Campaign, there are arcade games you can play, and you have the chance to save a gnome from the horrors of the zombie apocalypse. The settings are beautifully rendered as well. New Panic Events require you to perform tasks such as running a roller coaster, or running coke for a gunshop owner, which also counter camping, and add a new twist to the game. They also add Scavenger mode, in which you frantically try to gather gas cans. Unfortunately though, I find that Scavenger mode is greatly unfair, as one team usually wins 3 times in a row. The losers have to go first, and the winners have to try to beat them. Easy call, who do you think is going to win? The new characters, although realistic and you can identify with them, just don't come out as unique as the first's. Another problem I had was the Charger's AI is horrible. The Charger more-often-than-not runs into walls, and little corners, which can get infuriating. The Jockey's however, is great! He hides, and uses his advantage of being short to hide behind small areas. Scavenge is a great addon too, offering a quicker, fast-paced versus mode that does it's job really well. Kudos to Valve for making my heart race as the music gets quicker, as we grab the last can, and attempt to protect our convoy as we are in overtime. The weapons seem too close to the screen, and the Magnum would blow your head off. Again, these are minor nuisances, that can be ignored. The Hunter is somewhat buggy, as I once pounced off a high ledge and landed right on his head, but simply fell off. There aren't as many memories, but over-all, it is a better game. The new DLC should help this game out, and it could either do really well or fail miserably. Overall, I'd give Left 4 Dead a 9.3. I rounded it, so that's why I put it as a 9. This game was one of the best of last year. Expand

The additions of new special infected are well awaited, but I'm still undecided whether all new ones are very likable: the Jockey and the Charger are extremely hard to avoid, and I wish were a bit weaker. I do like the walking witch, it leaves lots of chances for ZOMG WTF moments. I though that the continuity between campaigns is great for a better story line telling, but overall there was no story in either games. The characters are different... I would've been fine if they left the original characters, especially Ellis the mechanic sounds like one of the developers on the audio commentary for L4D; so his character should've been at least an office kind of guy. The downfalls: Like I previously mentioned the weapons are sometimes very abundant, too abundant, you end up running back and forth trying to figure out which gun you want to take along; and on the other hand the game sometimes forces you to give up your preferred weapon by not having many ammo piles - which sucks when you find a great rifle with a laser sight, and then have to trade down to a manual shotty. The voice overs are not engaging and feel kind of forced and unprofessional acting. The sound booth literally comes down on you when your character says something unrelated. I did miss the legs when looking down or crouching on ledges like in original L4D; I think it added to the immersion while playing. Of course it was annoying when they get in the way when camping ladders, but seeing them there really made you feel the ground - and not just float around like ghosts. As it is early to say, the current crash to desktop issues I've experienced may go away sooner or later. I do wish Valve makes it sooner, but the second day first update did not fix my problem; and my game seems to crash right during the finale, stealing my completed achievement. It has done so many times, and not only during the finale; but I do have much faith in Valve, and I think it will get pretty stable. So far it is a solid 9 from me, and I'm not going to count-in the disappointment that this game did not come out as an add-on to L4D, with no discount, and treated like a separate product. Thumbs up Valve! Expand

I was unsure about getting this game at first, but I'm very happy I did. The new Specials really mix things up a bit more, and the uncommon infected keep the standard zombie rush a bit more involved. Beyond that the new Weapons / Items are great. It just adds another level of randomness to the AI director to keep each replay feeling unique. It just adds another level of randomness to the AI director to keep each replay feeling unique. And as for the new modes of play, there really great. Scavenge is a great way to get some Vs action going with out playing an entire campaign. While Realism Mode is a much welcome addition to standard Co-op. The campaigns themselves are more interesting then in the first game, with great settings and some great new events (In a few places you trigger an event with hordes rushing at you, but rather then sit tight and fight them off you have to advance further into the level to find an "off switch" to stop an otherwise endless rush of flesh munchers.) The Finallys themselves are great, flashy, fun events. While there are a few bugs that need to be fixed (gotten stuck in a wall now on 3 occasions after a Charger hit me. And lets not forget the new wondering witches that any AI you have seem to completely ignore until they get there face gnawed off.) But both are rare enough that they can be over looked assuming they get patched in the near future. In closing L4D2 is not ground breaking, and even with all the new content it will get old after awhile. And if you disliked the first one I would advise renting before buying. But if you liked the first one this is a must have. It's not prefect, but I've had a blast so far and highly recommend, 9/10. Expand

I do agree that the melee weapons should have a LITTLE more noticeable differences though. ----- -Anyway, users that enjoyed the first game will enjoy this game, but they might feel nostalgic to the 'creepy' feeling from the original. L4D2 stands tall on it's own two feet and feels like the sequel we all wanted it to be. Valve clearly took on board all the concerns about it being too similar to it's predecesor and ensured it was it's own game. In truth L4D2 makes the origional feel like a beta or even alpha test, the three new special infected fit into the roles beautifully and add a whole new dimension to versus. The one major complaint from many in the world of L4D was the corner or closet camping. They have addressed this big time. 2 of the 3 new infected specialise in breaking up a crowd. The events which used to involve starting a switch and waiting in a corner are gone, mostly. Now almost every event requires the team to move on to another switch or to go back and forth collecting items to end the event. The weapons are solid and all have their role, people will have a favourite. Melee weapons can be used instead of a pistol, which range from a Freeman style crowbar, to a "ninja" Katana. the new item system means people have to choose wisely between a defib unit (brings people back from dead) OR health OR special ammo packs to deploy for the team. New "thrown" weapon, Boomer Bile, works a charm and causes the infected to maul all tagged targets or just group up in a mass brawl. The Survivors feel just as special as the first four, and people again will have a favourite character. (Rochelle has a GREAT arse too) All in all, if you enjoyed the first one but hated the campy campy play style then seriously grab this game asap. I can't give it a 10 as it isn't PERFECT, there are glitches to be fixed and the special infected feel a little too powerful atm, But like the first game I fully expect valve will continue to support the fans in bringing out decent patches. But as far as comparing it to L4D and worrying if it's just the same game with a mod, don't worry. Thanks Valve for another game to keep me occupied for hours on end. Expand

If you already have the original Left 4 Dead, I'd say buy something else, unless you really really really want an upgraded version of the first game. I, on the other hand, had an excuse to buy the second. I have the original for the 360. I finally got a computer more than capable of playing recent/new games so I got it for the PC, also I'm going to college and I don't want to bring my 360 along/it wouldn't fit.

People, you can't downgrade a game meant to be coop because the Single Player is lousy. It's also not clear if you should be rating L4D2 relative to L4D, since that rating wouldn't matter to someone who doesn't have either. Rate L4D2 on its own merits, for how it's meant to be played, and if you do that, the game is practically flawless.

    REPLAY VALUE:
    - The first game was not very long, but it had replay value, the second game is essentially the first game with more levels, new levels, new characters, new dialogue, new weapons and enemies and mechanics, etc. The first game was a smashing success, so if the second was why would they change that much in the sequel?

    NEW MECHANICS:
    - The guns, special devices, and melee weapons all have a very nice, "clean," feel to them. There's almost no "wind-up," so every swing, shot, and throw feels responsive. This is something many developers overlook when making games, and it's incredibly important to have the feel right.

    NEW WEAPONS:
    - The arsenal from L4D was one of the more boring parts of the game. L4D2 has more than doubled the amount of weapons, whilst keeping the originals for old fans.

    STEAM WORKSHOP:
    - Don't like the level selection? The skins are boring you? Then modify them with minimal effort by utilizing Steam Workshop, which is home to thousands of custom, user-made skins.

There really isn't much to complain about.
