I've put 20 plus hours into this game already. There is just tons of things to do, build, craft, explore, fight and even farm. This is a true sandbox game, letting you decide how to play it, It's a fantastic buy at the current price and a great little Gem to get!!

OMG, where has this Gem of a game been hiding. I've been after a game like this for sooo loooong..

An open Sandbox RPG survival game that just seems to have the right balance of gathering, building , crafting, exploring, 90 level underground so i hear, I haven't been anywhere near that low yet. , combat, skill trees, health, vitality. nice graphics. Randomly generated world at the start

Randomly generated world at the start of the game, multiple save slots, be male or female. and cheap too..

I only have one arm too. and other games are so hard for me to play but all the controls in this game can be quite easily accessed by me. Fantastic. More later as i get deeper into the game

I found Lantern Forge two weeks ago and have wracked up 38 hours playing it. I am in love with the crafting, gathering materials to craft with, exploring the depths below and fighting beasties. It is everything I wanted from Minecraft with near mouse-only controls. There's a lot to explore and every depth below ground has randomly generated dungeons you can loot and kill beasties in. You can even mine their walls to use to build your own buildings top-side as well as take paintings and tapestries off the walls to sell or decorate your place with. Definitely well worth the $10 price tag on steam! Expand

Cute game, looks a little bit like Ultima Online. Has a lot of options for crafting. Decent amount of variety in the world to keep you exploring for a while. Reminds me a little bit of Terraria, but the graphics look nicer, and don't leave me squinting at the screen like Terraria did. The soundtrack is also very relaxing, and sets a nice atmosphere for the game.

After a few hours of game-play, I'd say this game deserves a decent score.

Once you've descended your first set of stairs underground, built your first house, crafted your first armor, and cast your first spell, you'll see what I mean when I say there's lots of good stuff here.

I hope to see this game climb the ranks and get some notice soon!

If you enjoy exploration and have a little imagination I think you will have a really good time with this game. Expand

My wife and I bought this game several days ago. We've managed to lose a good amount of sleep. This game is so addicting. The game as it is for us would be a 10! if we could visit each other's world and play co-op. Even if the game never becomes playable over a network, it is now and will ever be one of our favorites. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in it so far and look forward to playing further. Expand

Lantern Forge is a great little indie gem. If Mincraft and Diablo had a top down isometric baby this would be it. You collect resources, craft items, build structures, dig underground and fight monsters. Throw in skills and abilities and you have a game well worth it's price.

I will be straight up and tell you that I am the artist on this game. I have been working on it for 8 months solid. I have worked on many games already and know that after a long stretch of time..it's hard to still enjoy playing something. You sorta know what to expect and you've tried and tested things over and over.

But I still like playing Lantern Forge. I find myself going in to try

But I still like playing Lantern Forge. I find myself going in to try and test out a mob or something and an hour later I'm expanding my house while planting new crops and capturing animals to put in pens. I craft food and organize all my treasure chests full of loot. When I do go out I actually get surprised by the loot that drops and how the enemies react.

We built this game to be very open, to let you play how you wish. So when I see all the screen shots and all the forums on the different ways that people play, clearing out a dungeon to make it your home, making a house out of trees and massive gardens...it's pretty awesome.

There are still some small glitches, a few menu bugs and on slower computers it might chug slightly, it's still being balanced for endgame. I'm a dev and I'm admitting this to you :p It's not perfect, but it's quite a deep fun title for a great price. Worth the purchase.

I would give this game a solid 9 rating if the controls were a bit more friendly and if it wasn't laggy when generating new parts of the map. A very solid sandbox survival type game. Crafting/Farming/Building and Exploration as well as a ton of enemies to fight. A really great concept that is very very close to being great overall.

I would really love to rate this game higher. It has the potential to be a superb title in what is a niche genre and has all the things we fans love about the genre - the building and crafting, monsters and combat, and loot and exploration, all without being an outright clone to similar games. Not to mention it is pretty. But it has two major flaws that for me, make the game almost unplayable. The first and most game breaking of the two being the constant need to draw the surrounding area, even when in familiar territory. Every few steps yields unplayable lag for a few seconds while "Generating Map." Secondly the controls could really be fleshed out to accommodate the laptop user. As it is the game is frustrating to play if using a touchpad and there is no way around this (without resorting to a mouse of course). I would very much love to see these two issues be addressed because the game is truly worthy of a much higher score. Expand

Believe me when I say you will sink days into this game. I got so wrapped up in playing it that I forgot to write the review and if that doesn’t say much for it’s wonderful mix of minecraft style building and RPG then I don’t know how to convince you.
