    Five Word Review: High production values, great adventure.
    Favorite Thing: Chapter 2. Sure you can breeze through it but if you actually tried to keep everyone alive it's a great puzzle.
    Least Favorite Thing: Adventuring as senile Graham

    Playtime: ~ 19h (some achievement-related replaying)
    Enjoyment: 8/10
    Recommendation: It's a must for adventure fans.

    I grew up with King's Quest. I beat the first entry when I was only 7, entirely by myself, and have loved the series ever since. And I admit that I've been very nervous about whether this new commercial entry could live up to the hype and my own expectations. I saw early previews and screenshots and wondered whether the art and gameplay style would feel right for a King's Quest game. And II grew up with King's Quest. And I admit that I've been very nervous about whether this new commercial entry could live up to the hype and my own expectations. I saw early previews and screenshots and wondered whether the art and gameplay style would feel right for a King's Quest game. And I cringed a bit at the launch price. My fears have all been proven wrong. The art style is perfect, and at times downright stunning. The gameplay, while somewhat linear initially, is as open and thought-provoking as I've come to expect from the series. The voice acting is spot on. The puzzles are neither mindlessly easy nor are they walkthrough-required difficult. But most importantly, this game just FEELS right to me. It takes me back to how I felt the first time I played earlier games in the series, hoping to always figure out just one more thing before quitting for a bit, and then learning that there was another path I could have taken to solve a particular problem and wanting to experience that route for myself. There were a couple of engine oddities, and The Odd Gentlemen really needs to learn how to interact with their community, but the game itself? This is King's Quest, and I couldn't be happier.… Expand

    I'm not sure why the User Score is so low for this game when there's only one other actual written user review so far, which happens to be a 10...

    ... but anyway, my thoughts are very similar to wilco64256 who posted before me. I played and enjoyed the originals when I was very young, was therefore leery and skeptical of this "re-imagining," etc... but I'm pleased to say it's wonderful.    I'm not sure why the User Score is so low for this game when there's only one other actual written user review so far, which happens to be a 10...

    ... but anyway, my thoughts are very similar to wilco64256 who posted before me. I played and enjoyed the originals when I was very young, was therefore leery and skeptical of this "re-imagining," etc... but I'm pleased to say it's wonderful. The animation gets a little laggy at times and some of the dialogue can be a little cheesy... but I'd still give it 10/10 for how much I've enjoyed it so far. I paid full price (something I rarely do) and have no regrets.    … Expand

    Games starts restrictive but quickly opens up to classic kings quest gameplay. It also presents a wonderful story that while somewhat cheesy is still brimming with great characters, emotions and fun. It's also a great looking game even though the textures resolution isn't the best.

    Un espèce de déterrage opportuniste d'une vieille baderne du jeu d'aventures, déjà périmenaze à son époque et remise au goût du jour de "notre époque" à savoir le format épisodique saucissonné pour mieux vous la mettre dans l'oignon numérique. La bêtise et la naïveté sont omniprésentes et je crains que même les plus jeunes n'adhèrent pas à ces pitoyables facéties.     It's not perfect, but it's a very welcome return to Daventry and Graham's Family. Loved how the stories changed from the original to a new, more modern way of telling them to his granddaughter Gwendonlyn and making them more funnier. Let's remember that children like adventuring, and Gwendonlyn is the next adventurer of Daventry.

    I can imagine old school purists getting fussy about this new incarnation of King’ Quest, but I really enjoyed it. This is how episodic adventure games should be done. [01/2017, p.59]

    King's Quest is great and witty reimagination of adventure classic. For the most time, it will charm you with humor, but it is not afraid of deeper and more serious scenes. Only one of the five episodes is a flop, but if you get over it, the other four will reward you with hilarious experience.

    A revival of a classic adventure series, the episodic King’s Quest is itself an instant classic, giving each new installment its own unique focus. Wise, brave, and compassionate adventurers alike should definitely consider having a crack at it.
