    A very good game although the lack of weapons ruins it a little, unless you play on servers with mods there is better, and despite being an old game the community is still quite active, at least you can enter quite a few almost full servers.

    Just bought this along with Sandstorm. Will return sandstorm today - this still has players and just feels raw in a good way - focus on gameplay and fun handling trumps visuals for me!

    I'm actually not a fan of FPS games. So the day I launched Insurgency I had a tremedous surprise. I began with coop modes which are really interesting by their diversity. I gradually got used to the maps offered by the game. That made me a better player because every time you die you have to watch other players' screen (often way more talentend than yourself). I gradually got used to the maps offered by the game. That made me a better player because every time you die you have to watch other players' screen (often way more talentend than yourself). This helped me to understand the game mechanics which are unlike any other FPS I've ever played. The game directly rewards you when you master these mechanics. So you surprise yourself by counting the number of seconds it takes for a grenade to be unpinned, throwed and eventually explode. You learn how AI has been made, its behavior, strategies and weapons. Coop is excellent to progress for new players. Shoutout to the 'outpost' and 'survival' modes that really are fast-paced and exciting.
    Competitive mode is another business. You get headshot kilometers away, not even knowing where it came from. I think competitive mode is for hardcore gamers. It could also be linked to the time I played (in 2018, so 5 years after the game released). Anyway experiencing this mode was for me a tough thing.
    I actually have 350h of gameplay on Insurgency. Not to lie, the servers are currently barely empty in coop. What I do now is playing in solo mode in which friends bots are awful. I train to speedrun and use all I've learn while playing against hardcore enemy bots.I just can't get enough of this game.    … Expand

Обидно за онлайн - около 2000 игроков, при ничтожно малой цене проекта. Однозначно рекомендую к ознакомлению каждому любителю приятной стрельбы.Лучший командный шутер с реалистичной стрельбой, хардкорным геймплеем, приятной в свое время графикой, хорошим звуком, огромной базой модов и стимворкшопа.     Весьма спорная игра, относительно того, что я слышал перед тем как поиграть самому. Скорее всего в худшую сторону склонение идет больше. Абсолютно ничего впечатляющего в ней нет. Я это говорю не потому что я чего-то там ни увидел. Я это говорю потому что, там этого нет. Слухов и рассуждений я слышал достаточно, а когда сам взялся за игру, получил обычный шутер. Слухов и рассуждений я слышал достаточно, а когда сам взялся за игру, получил обычный шутер. Можно даже отнести эту игру в ожидание-реальность, это будет абсолютно верно. Мы получили ее с товарищем бесплатно и решили, что вот игра и в ко-опе, и мультиплеер есть, и даже одиночка. Но все это оказалось напрасным, потому что все эти элементы использовались ранее, особенно элементы тактического боя. В пример можно привести даже ту Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Она по сути ввела эти аспекты и игроки к ним привыкли, зачем менять это или использовать в другой игре. Это не усовершенствование, в этом плане нет такого понятия. Это попросту ненужно.

    Может она и могла стать для кого-то заменой, в плане такой игры как Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, но даже там все реализовано куда лучше, хоть и тоже паршиво. Такие шутеры должны создаваться абсолютным удобством для игрока, что данная игра не делает. Здесь нет своих новшеств, самый что ни на есть обычный мультиплеер с "захватом" и так далее. Опять же, если касаться режима "захват" то это все замечательно использовалось раньше, было уже применено и вошло в канон. Совершенности в графике и каких-то сумасшедших геймплейных элементов я не заметил. Может они и были, не спорю, но я тоже играл в множественное количество шутеров, и могу объективно сравнивать и различать такие моменты. Кстати в таких шутерах и ставиться упор на геймплей, надо сделать его максимально удобным для игрока, чтобы он чувствовал плавность при прицеливании. Вот кстати плавность прицеливания здесь реализована не плохо, обычно по сути, но она не испорченна. В этом плане можно совершить множество излишков. Слишком настроить, а то и вообще перестроить. Сама оптика тоже сделана хорошо, ты в нее смотришь и четко отличаешь реальность от происходящего в прицеле. Не много сложновато объяснить, при игре вы все поймете.

    Самый обычный шутер, с хорошо реализованной стрельбой и связанными с ней элементами. Если вы ветеран в шутерах, даже не запускайте, вам просто это не нужно, доверьтесь. Я тоже из этой ситуации. Ждешь чего-то нового, а получаешь хорошо преобразовано старое. Эта игра не стоит матерых игроков шутеров, всем остальным может и зайдет, но если вы только начинаете полноценную шутерскую карьеру, то начинать ее надо однозначно ни с этой игры.    … Expand

    There's room for many different play-styles, I my self am successfully able to run and gun, but then, if need be switch fire modes and peck off a sniper, if he hasn't seen me first. So if you want a tactical FPS with smoke grenades and fire modes, but don't want to get repeatedly killed by aircraft, exploded by personal UAVs or somebody with a mortar, then this is for you.

    I imagine it is fairly easy to run on most computers, but it could use prettier graphics.

    I think this is my shooter of the year 2018, and I do not doubt it will be long before I'm regularly

    A friend of mine gave me this game in 2014 and it was sitting on my steam library for months as I was busy playing COD Modern Warfare. After so many annoying encounters with trolls and kids that just mic spamming, i took a long break from FPS game. I then tried Insurgency just out of curiosity, and boy I was impressed with the game play. Out of my 500 plus games in my steam library,A friend of mine gave me this game in 2014 and it was sitting on my steam library for months as I was busy playing COD Modern Warfare. After so many annoying encounters with trolls and kids that just mic spamming, i took a long break from FPS game. I then tried Insurgency just out of curiosity, and boy I was impressed with the game play. Out of my 500 plus games in my steam library, Insurgency, the game that I got for free, has become the most played game with 1800 plus hours on it. Through out the time, I tried other shooting game like Battlefield 3 and 4, Modern Warfare 2, but the guns and recoils in those games don't feel right anymore.

    I think many negative feedback on the game is because people were playing it like they were playing COD or Battlefield where you can run and gun. This game meant to be played tactically with your team mates / other players.

    The PVP was good although I enjoy the Co-Op better. So I can't say much about the PVP. There are 4 different co-op modes, haven't played much of the other modes, but CHECKPOINTS mode is by far has the best gameplay I had on this game.

    In Checkpoints mode: As a team, you need to capture checkpoints and defend them from counter attack by bots. The process of taking the checkpoint is not easy, you have to battle through crazily accurate shooter bots that will RPG you the second you bunch up like scared little kids with your team mate. So you have to play it tactically and move as a team. If you try to play it Rambo style, you will end up getting killed really fast and you will have to wait until the rest of your team capture the next checkpoint, then you will re-spawn. This game meant to be semi realistic where there is no crosshair to help you aim, you need to bring up your gun and use the iron sight to shoot. You can shoot from your hips but like a real gun when you shoot from hips, you don't know where the bullet will go. You can have some sort of crosshair by attaching laser pointer on your gun if you prefer. When you play this game, try and find a good server with active Admin on it, although this game doesn't have as much cancer player as other shooters (kids that will troll the game and spoil the fun), but with the present of Admin will assure you will have fun time as long as you play it by the rule set by the server host / admin (ie: wait for team mate, no mic spamming, etc). If you are not sure how to play this game, ask around in the game. Most player are adults that will be happy to help and give you direction on what to do and what Not to do.

    In conclusion, give this game a try and put a bit effort to learn the mechanics and the game objectives and I am sure you will have fun time with it.    … Expand

    It's a pretty fun game, but like other games it's tired after a while.

    I like the way to choose the classes and your equipment since you must choose the weapons and utilities intelligently because the number of things you can carry is limited, so you should only carry what you are going to use or what best suits your playing style.

    The graphics are sufficient in my opinion and the sound section its good.

    The game modes also I liked a lot, they are several and they are entertaining.

    [What didn't like me]

    The weapons do not have statistics within the game because there are times when I want to have more precision but I do not know what weapons to choose since there are NO statistics inside the game.

    The maps are very generic and are similar to each other and I do not like them much, but they are not bad, they do their function

    There is not much pre-eminence of teamwork unless you play with friends.

    The game bores pretty fast if you do not play with friends.

    There is not something that makes me want to keep playing, I mean, In Call of Duty and Battlefield you keep playing because there is something that motivates you, getting a new weapon, a new skin for it, etc. In CSGO is the ranking system which shows your "Skill" and makes you want to continue playing to raise the rank and play against better players. In Insurgency, on the other hand, there is nothing that motivates me to continue playing beyond being fun.

    The game is very realistic and funny,but there are a lot of problems.Menu is awful,you don't understand ANYTHING,,the graphic is outdated,there is not a progression like grades or points and all game modes are very similar.It's a good indie but not a masterpiece.

    Insurgency is a different type of game that put you in a hardcore battlefield; no doubts that this game is one of the best FPS that i've ever played, and if you're the kind of gamer that like realistic games Insurgency... well, Insurgency is for you!

    Es un shooter como debe ser, muy tactico y diria que se asemeja a la realidad, nada de saltar y agacharse para esquivar balas que eso no te salva en la vida real, aca tienes que ser cuidadoso en cada esquina, mirar a todos lados por si hay un francotirador y eso lo hace muy emocionante. No es un juego para aquel que esta acostumbrado a shooters arcade como call of duty, esto es paraEs un shooter como debe ser, muy tactico y diria que se asemeja a la realidad, nada de saltar y agacharse para esquivar balas que eso no te salva en la vida real, aca tienes que ser cuidadoso en cada esquina, mirar a todos lados por si hay un francotirador y eso lo hace muy emocionante.     For 10$ you can own a game that surpass 90% AAA shooting right now, contain 149 maps with 5 modes and full support of mods.

    If you loved the Swat series and the first Ghost Recon, Insurgency seems a bit like a mix of the two, with a bit of CS thrown in.
    A MUST BUY.

    *Best with headset to coordinate with teammates.
    *Steam Workshop integration is AMAZING.

    Insurgency takes the good elements of more realistic and tactful games like Arma and Red Orchestra 2 and removes the massive maps and endless walking, delivering a fast-paced, intelligent FPS game unlike anything in the market. NOTE: Do not be afraid to buy this on 2017, the community is still pretty active and will remain so until the sequel, Insurgency: Sandstorm, is released in 2018.

The new Vietnam War mod (Born to Kill) is incredibly well done and worth checking out. Despite these features I think that $10 is a bit pricey.     Este juego es una delicia, no apto para niños ratas del cod, ni tampoco para zamarrooos inútiles que les gusta el FIFA; campear 800h hasta que aparezaca un sniper y te mate es la mejor sensación que encontraras en un videojuego

The game is decent optimized and works well for everyone for now but things could be much better (I don't want to say optimization is a big problem for this at all). Also the game is populated and you can easly find a game/server or people to play with at least for now (Number of concurrent players in-game vary from 1000 to arround 2500+ per day without an event in progress like a discount or something).     Don't buy this game if you don't like to play games like Counter Strike. This game made me want to create an account just to warn you about it, unfortunately I bought it before the refund system but I'm still going to ask for a refund.
    Also there isn't a lot of players available, so if you're going to play by yourself think twice.     I bought Insurgency during a sale a few years ago and it has become my favorite game. This is the game I've played the most in my library because it combines realism with fun gameplay mechanics. Definitely worth the price even when not on sale (currently $15 USD). The developers (NWO) continue to release free updates even longer after it was first released.     What is the next? we gone a have a new version in 2017 called "Insurgency sandstorm" whit unreal engine 4 and history or campaign.

    Never played the mod much but this standalone version is fantastic. Game has a decent variety of maps, weapons, and attachments. There are roles on your team you select when joining a server which determine what main weapons you can select. On higher difficulty settings, the AI is pretty competent, very accurate, and very trigger happy. The co-op modes are a lot of fun and are not simply tacked on modes. Tons of fun with friends.

    My only complaint is the game seems to suffer from poor performance even on higher end systems. Tweaking settings to get consistent frame rates seems silly since it's using the Source engine but that's what I had to do.    … Expand

No regenerating health, no mini maps, no special kill streaks and **** actual gun recoil and only about a bullet or 2 to kill someone as well as the fact that you sometimes have absolutely no clue where the **** you are getting shot at from.     This is a great challenging and realistic game. A great alternative to the big AAA titles which cost heaps of money and require a beast of a rig to run. This game can feel boring at times, but when you have the right players with you is heaps of fun. Great to see how far this has come since it was a mod.

Grenade clears the whole room, suppression and covering fire work here as well as one shot one kill feature. I cannot play Counter-Strike or Battlefield any more, as they are designed for children, thisIMO simply the best FPS I have come across.     Really fun and decent shooter. Reminds me of an infantry only project reality - very intense and tactical. Maps could be a little bit bigger but the mechanics in the game makes sure that everything in a game runs really well.

    This game punishes you for using traditional twitch-shooter mechanics: There's no drop-shotting or quick scoping here. Instead, the game encourages you to work as a team and actually use the response wheel, which can be used to announce a whole lot of useful things such as spotting an enemy or telling your team quickly that you need to suppress an area or to spread out. Not only does this come up in the bottom of the screen but your character actually SPEAKS the line, which is a nice touch. Game play is a lot slower than most shooters; more like Red Orchestra than Battlefield.

    The community mainly consists of older guys, mainly 18+, and although everyone laughs and jokes around in the lobby screen everyone gets very serious and tactical in game. Even when I see a younger person on the game, they all seem to be very tame compared to, say, the CoD community.

    Overall, this game is brilliantly made and for a relatively cheap price tag you can pick up hours of fun. See you guys on the battlefield.    … Expand

Your loadout is fully customizable; from what type of vest you want, all the way down to what gun you want and what attachments you want for that specific gun. Yes, you get to customize your weapon attachments.
    The game has a good amount of content to offer. There are plenty of gamemodes (including co-op if you don't like PvP,) plenty of maps, and plenty of classes/loadouts. They're still adding stuff, by the way.
    The sound design is FLAWLESS. I mean like wow, this is Battlefield-esque sound design. The graphics, while looking pretty outdated at times, are some of the best I've seen on the Source engine.

    I have bought this a few months ago, I have a total of 120 hours of playing on steam, and I still play this.
    I really like that the game is a little bit realistic, it is more fun and makes the game more strategic .

    Waiting for more content from the developers.

Until this gets fixed, I will curtail my gameplay and if it continues to happen I will cease gameplay ALTOGEHTER. Getting familiar with game maps is another important factor for success. You have to know where your weak points are while you're attacking or defending objective zones. Experienced lone wolves infiltrate behind enemy lines to hunt their targets one by one. So if you want to be successful explore maps as quickly as possible. Shooting mechanics feels good and realistic. Maps designs are very good and well optimized to balance tension between teams. Graphics can't compete with its counterparts but they are decent.     NO SPOTTING, NO HIP-FIRE CROSHAIR NO MINIMAP, NO KILLCAM, NO HEALTH METER, NO HIT /KILL NOTIFICATION, NOT EVEN AN AMMO COUNTER.
    it really forces you to trust your instincts and your teamates due to the lack of information.
    It feels so rewarding to confirm a kill or win a game.

    This game is awesome for hardcore shooter fans. You have to be very tactical and if you want to win will have to coordinate with your team mates. You can play alone, but you will really have to pay attention to other players to know where enemies are up ahead.     Insurgency doesn't BS you by making you level up guns to unlock attachments. Everyone gets an allocated amount of supply points to modify their loadouts freely, at spawn. Want a optic site? You got one. Want to carry a molotov instead of grenade? You got it. Want heavy armor? Sure. You pick your own loadouts based on your preferences. This adds a tremendous amount of variation in the loadouts that you can create.

    Overall, this is one of the better realism FPS shooters. The learning curve for new users can be considered steep, but this makes it all the more satisfying when you do finally get the hang of things. Well worth the price.    … Expand

Insurgency will appeal to the kind of players who love tactical shooters with steep learning curve, sort of like in Counter Strike 1.6.

    Insurgency started off as one of the most popular Half-Life 2 mods, but you probably already know that, because most people that I know already played Insurgency before, as in the HF2 mod. It was downloaded over a million times ,and received the Player’s Choice 2007 Mod of the Year award from ModDB which is a huge honor and I’m happy that this game got released. Even though the game runs on Valve’s Source Engine, it still looks and feels like a fully fledged release. Personally, I was expecting much less from this game, but I was pleased to see that the developer(New World Interactive) actually took the time and made it worth a while.

    The best way to describe Insgurgency’s gameplay is quite difficult, it’s a mix between Counter Strike and Red Orchestra, the reason why I’m saying that is because throughout my time with this game I felt like I’m playing a solid tactical-shooter, it reminded me of the time when everyone played CS 1.6 which is a good thing, you have access to everything, you don’t need to unlock weapons or perks, this is an old school tactical-shooter and I love it.. For those uninitiated with the world of tactical shooters, the gameplay is highly dependent upon you sticking close to your teammates, and taking control of the objectives. Most of the game’s maps are perfect for this kind of gameplay style, small maps with many vantage points for long-range shooting and much more, you’ll really appreciate the work that the developers put into the maps. The fact that the game supports up to 32 players, I have never encountered a camper during an online match, which is surprising because at first I thought everyone is just going to hide behind the cover but no, majority of players cooperate with each other, I have also noticed that the community is very supportive, this makes the online experience very enjoyable.

    The feel of weapons in Insurgency is spot on. Each gun in the game, has its own advantages and disadvantages, and they all handle differently. This is how you supposed to program guns in an online multiplayer game, I’m talking to you Call Of Duty. You can also add different attachments to your weapons, for ex. penetrating ammo, scope and many more. The Supplies system gives you a limited number of points which prevents the player from adding all of the attachments to their weapons, for ex. adding a penetrating ammo will cost you 3 points and you have 10 in total(I’m not sure about the precise number).

    What I love the most about this game is how difficult it is, and how it focuses upon tactical play and cooperation with your teammates, I haven’t seen a game like Insurgency for a long time(except for CS:GO), We need more games like Insurgency, and less of the COD, modern-military bulls**t that we are overwhelmed with nowadays.    … Expand

    (yes, of course you can create a match after some port forwarding and console commands... but seriously?!).
    Or you could do what the devs were too lazy for:
    create a steam-server-tool via Steam, rewrite some configs and hope for the best!

    The game itself:
    Pretty intense firefights! The will get your heart rushing!
    BUT:
    The bottleneck leveldesign doesn't allow for much tactical approach.
    The game-mode is getting repetitive very fast:

    rince and repeat....
    and hope it doesn't lag or crash!

The game doesn't give you any help like, crosshair, deathcam, kill message, no minimap on the corner (although you still have a full map available with your team positions), you have to figure out if you killed him, or from were you shot, and relay the info to your team. If you want to survive you really have to work with the rest of your team.

    If you are tired of using the same gun over and over just to unlock fancy scopes, silencers or camos, then go play Insurgency. The game gives you the full arsenal of guns directly at the start of the game - They are bound to different classes. Facing players with 245 ms ping in a game that is primarily based on reaction times (the avg. human reaction time is something like 180 ms) is a *huge* problem.

    It's a very tactical team-based shooter. Reminds me of the old school Rainbow Six games without the map waypoint strategy. The strategy happens real-time between players over the in-game VOIP system. You die and you're out. Your only chance at a respawn is your team mates making it to the next objective, else you all start at the beginning of the mission again.     The graphics are good enough and give a great all-round, authentic experience. Night missions are fantastic and very challenging.

    The surround sound with a gaming headset is awesome. One is able to spatially place sounds around one's self while playing, particularly moving enemies.

    This game caters towards semi-casual to hyper-hardcore gamers. Insurgency in my opinion, has a bit of morbid humor to it. I can get super sweaty when trying to hold a capture point when I'm the only person left alive, or I can laugh my ass off when my teammate yelps as he's shot in the face. Best of both worlds!

    Insurgency is a game with a small community, which I love. You can hop into a random match, and recognize half of your teammates since you played with them last week. There is a little mic spam, and people yelling "ALLAHU AKBAR" before each match, but it only makes it a bit more immersive.

    The dev's are active. Recently, they added another free DLC which contains a proper nightmode.

    I'm giving it a 10. Not just because I enjoy this game, but because anyone else can as well.

    I paid $15 for the game in January, it was worth it then. As of right now, it's still $15.
    Also, it's made on the Source engine, meaning it'll run on a TI-84 (not really, but almost)

    If you like FPS's at all, then skip going to Subway for lunch tomorrow, and get this game instead.    … Expand

    I just want to tell you one and only thing about this game. Insurgency is the most realistic shooter at the moment. Of course, Insurgency has some minuses, but realism is on fire (except ballistics :D)...! ;)

    Character Models in the game are also not polished but are still being worked on and you can see a great difference between when the game was realised and to this point in time. One thing that sets this game apart from other first person shooters like Battlefield and Call Of Duty is the teamwork and strategy that goes with it, a lot of people in the Insurgency community right now are pretty friendly and play like the game is men't to be played which in a result make this 10x better to play, you still have the odd people who end up shooting you out of spawn just because they "felt like it" but we have them players everywhere these days... The recent addition from the developers was the modding capability which allows users in the community to create and share there own content for the game allowing for the lifespan of the game to keep going.

    Content in the game so far if actually really good, When you enter a server you have two squads to pick from out of your team. From there you pick a position e.g Sniper or Rifleman, Then you get to choose your weapons that are only selectable for that class. There is also a variety of attachments available for the guns ranging from Sights to even what type of bullet rounds you are using. The kit set-up works on a point system so the more attachments you put on your gun the less points you will have to carry more ammo or have more protective armour. This system really works for the games environment and makes it so you don't have people running around a huge arsenal of equipment just destroying the battlefield.

    For only $14.99 (AUD) you get so much content delivered to you in one package and with the developers of the game New World Interactive constantly releasing free updates to the game which include new content like maps, weapons and more. I really recommend playing this game with a couple of friends over a Skype call or Teamspeak because it give you a much better feel playing more strategic and having fun, but if your mates aren't up for it just talk through in-game chat and get to know some of the players on your team. But at the end of the day there is no reason to pick this up if you are into tactical FPS's.    … Expand

    Do you like CS but think it's too arcadey? Do you like ARMA but think it's too grognard?
    Then this is for you. It's fast paced on-line shooter with extremely entertaining gunplay and relly nice soundscape but very little else.
    But it has the Hunted President mode that alone gives this game one extra point.

I normally don't like the "get killed and then a forced into spectator mode" type thing, but in here it works well and really makes you ant to play better and better. The guns are great and all have their strengths and weaknesses, but most require a bit of skill to use. I strongly recommend to play the tutorial first, and to ignore all these negative comments. I read most of them and I think some are just upset because they died a lot, just my opinion though. At $15, it's a steal.… Expand

    Better than Battlefield, COD, and Counter strike. This might be hard to believe, but it's true. Insurgency missions are tactical, realistic, but not overly complicated or requiring a million unlock achievements. There are lots of servers and players, and it all works fast and smooth as silk. The feel of game play is something close to perfect and I just love playing it.

    The game is full of bugs and has problems with server-disconnects. It isn´t worth buying every single new little FPS wannabe where the devs just try to suck out some money and will leave the gamers with a broken piece of what could´ve been a good game.

    This is not entirely bad game. Just the developers did not know what they want to create. I was expected a tactical FPS. And there are 10 character classes, smoke grenades, commanders and many other things... But no one using it. The only rule of the game is to hide behind a car and shooting to running through the streets.
