Some hidden object game series become well remembered after a while, some disappear due to nothing about them standing out or simply being mediocre. Insider Tales: The Stolen Venus falls into the latter. Developers of the series Intenium have made a good career of making casual games (a lot of them HOGs) that never rise beyond average but at the same time still do well for the company. The Stolen Venus isn’t a bad game but it never feels ambitious with a story that never involves the player like others of the genre can. Everything is here: hidden objects to find, puzzles to solve yet it all feels rather easy and uninspired. There’s nothing wrong with easy but when it feels like half a boring journey the player will begin to question why bother playing when there are lots of better examples in the genre. If average or mediocre is okay for you The Stolen Venus does a good job.
