  • Summary: Indygo is a narrative game with elements of point'n'click set in one room only - painting workshop. It tells the story of a painter who suffers from depression. Solve puzzles and make decisions that affect how the game ends. Indygo attempts to show how people with depression can feel.

    Overall, Indygo, while certainly nothing groundbreaking with mechanics, is a frightfully accurate portrayal of what happens in the mind of someone suffering from depression. The narrative is clearly more important than the game’s mechanics, and that shows at times, but the combination of mechanics, dialogue choice and acting help to push the message about how devastating depression can be for an individual suffering from it. Go and get this, folks. It’s a helluva experience.

    A very poignant game that will hopefully help people to speak out about their struggles, as well as showcase just how important storytelling is in games.

    Educating the public about mental illness is important, but a problem inherent in accurately portraying depression is that, well, it isn't fun to be depressed. Indygo skillfully builds a gloomy atmosphere: The voice acting, music, black and white art style, and narrative all work together to convey the disconnection and emptiness a person suffering from depression can feel. You may come away with a better understanding of depression by playing, but if you're looking for entertainment along with your education, you will be disappointed.

    I am someone who battles with depression on daily basis and I know a lot of others like me who struggles the same.
    And this.... game? Is    I am someone who battles with depression on daily basis and I know a lot of others like me who struggles the same.
    And this.... game? Is insulting and revolting. It's like someone tried to monetize depression but that someone has no freaking idea how it feels and tastes. And let me tell you - it tastes bitter.
    This game's perception of depression feels like from idk - a whimpy teenager. Like "Johny didn't called me last night so now I am so saaaaaaad so I must have depression".

    It's cheap, disgusting and should never be made.    … Expand
