    one of the best indie games ive ever played, just AMAZING. ive spent so many hours with dudes chatting and playing online in a huge futuristic city sandbox.

    I really enjoyed Hover: Revolt of Gamers, its fun and challenging, i love that about games.
    Lacks personality and style, huh IGN? Well, don't hear the companies, they just give reviews about the money, this game has an incredible style and cool, its like they said, it actually inspired by Jet Set Radio.
    So i give an 8 because there's a lot of room to grow and there's many things missing,    I really enjoyed Hover: Revolt of Gamers, its fun and challenging, i love that about games.

    Ahhh finally, for once i have found a retro throwback style game of something from my time, the olden days of the Sega Dreamcast and original Xbox and when people weren't **** about which platform they called the "master race".
    Anyway, Hover Revolt Of Gamers is a 3rd person action adventure game trying to emulate the gameplay style of Jet Set Radio, the old Sega Dreamcast title from 1999.    Ahhh finally, for once i have found a retro throwback style game of something from my time, the olden days of the Sega Dreamcast and original Xbox and when people weren't **** about which platform they called the "master race".
    Anyway, Hover Revolt Of Gamers is a 3rd person action adventure game trying to emulate the gameplay style of Jet Set Radio, the old Sega Dreamcast title from 1999.
    You play from a wide range of characters but mostly the generic hooded Johnny Nobody you choose at the start. The story of the game is... well there really isn't one, you just go around doing random missions and quests for people.
    The gameplay is pretty good, it actually feels like a modern version of Jet Set Radio for the Dreamcast. The world has a lot of bright colors and interesting designs going for it, and unlike a lot of other recent games, you have the ability to actually explore the world you are in.
    The game also improves on it's predecessor, by having things like customizable characters and features like a rewind button and a dedicated button for grinding on rails, all things the previous game did not have.
    The only real complaint i have with this game are the controls, for example, by default it doesn't detect controllers unless you go into the options menu and set the presets for which ever controller you have, the other issue i have is that sometimes it wouldn't register when i was hitting a certain button.
    This would mean that in some places where it would tell me to jump and grind on a rail, only the jump would register and the grind wouldn't, i suspect it wants you to have exact timing on the buttons. One other issue i have with the game is the lack of a map system, this is a huge world map and i think the game would really benefit from having a map in the corner of the screen.
    Aside from those issues, this game has a lot going for it, including the original soundtrack by Hideki Naganuma, the same man that did the music for Jet Set Radio and it's sequel on the original Xbox.
    Overall, for $16USD i'd say wait a little bit and buy the game on sale.    … Expand

    Определённо лучшая игра всех времён! Hover должна стать классикой, или я умру! Если бы мог, то поддерживал бы разарботчиков средствами, но жаль не могу... Кароче, игра круть!

    I have the PS4 version of this game, so certain features in the PC version might be missing here. I will say, I got this game as a steal, for only 6$ on sale, so I might be looking at it more positively because of that, but anyways I would still say this game to me is a pretty solid alternative to Jet Set Radio & JSRF. The playstyle is also similar to Mirror's Edge. To describe theI have the PS4 version of this game, so certain features in the PC version might be missing here. I will say, I got this game as a steal, for only 6$ on sale, so I might be looking at it more positively because of that, but anyways I would still say this game to me is a pretty solid alternative to Jet Set Radio & JSRF. The playstyle is also similar to Mirror's Edge. To describe the gameplay at once, it's a free running game, so that's different from JSR, but you can still Grind rails in this game. In fact you can Grind on 90 to like 95% of your environment in this. How your movement works in this game is based off your Hover heat, hence the title. Think of Hover heat as sort of your Stamina gauge in this, as you need it to parkour in this, from running to jumping to buildings & other areas as well as jumping & sliding onto walls. All of these things take Hover heat but the game has a perk or RPG system where you level up your characters by these Chips you get by completing story missions & other challenges. Basically once you've played this enough & get used to the controls, you can gain a lot of momentum & speed to the point that you feel like a superhero similar to Spiderman & the Hulk, or Mirror's Edge because this game not only is in 3rd person, but also first person.

    Unlike Jet Set Radio, you aren't forced to spray Graffiti spots to progress through the story. Instead here they are completely optional & for getting rewards like level up chips & other things I won't spoil. Also unlike JSR is that this game doesn't have a health system, so despite there being a Security Force you deal with throughout this game, you can never die & have to start over missions, although certain missions require you doing certain tasks & also finishing it within the time limit. This game also has a rewind feature like in Prince of Persia & it trust me it will definitely come in handy at times, so I'm definitely a fan of this feature.

    The end things off with this game, let's talk about the music. Now obviously music was a huge aspect to JSR & JSRF & this game actually features 2 tracks from Hideki Naganuma, the main composer to both JSR games. Both of these tracks are great but it is disappointing that he only did two tracks, as the rest were done by a composer named Cedric Mendez. To me I think he did a good job with soundtrack but this game needed a little more Naganuma to round out the OST, at least to me. However if you'll are interested I ended using Spotify to round out the OST & the cool thing is that the Spotify music blends right in like the music is part of the actual in game world. Really cool feature, plus you play any of the Hover Revolt of Gamers OST in Spotify as well as it can come in handy since unfortunately this game has weird placements where songs play, although mainly with the Naganuma tracks, so you can just add them to your Playlist & boom you can play those anytime you want in the game. I have the PS4 version though so I'm not sure if Spotify works similarly on Xbox or PC.    … Expand

    Hover isn’t just free-form faffing about. There’s a movement here and if you want to join it, well…I’ll let you discover that stuff. Even anarchists’ playgrounds can have structured activities.

    Hover: Revolt of Gamers is a solid, open-world MMORPG that livens up the genre by honing in on what made its inspirations so great, and fusing these qualities together, culminating in an exciting world full of vibrant personality. While there is room for some refinement, Fusty Game and Midgar Studio have created an impressive action parkour game which promises to overload the senses.

    Hover ends up as a game that's a blast to maneuver around and explore but becomes at odds with its own design. There are a lot of peculiar decisions that make everything much more frustrating than it needs to be. Hover is something I desperately wanted to fall in love with, and although I’m happy to have been acquainted with it, we’ll be headed our separate ways moving forward.
