    if you want a challenge , a simple game with great gameplay and a amazing soundtrack that improves the atmosphere ,throug all the blood and a history existing right behind all of this , that's the game for you

    I think in order to enjoy this you have to have the right mindset, after playing this I was left gaining an experience that really struck me, it has an amazing sound track and the story is left almost entirely up to your interpretation, let the urge to kill take over you when you play.     One of my favourite games of all time Hotline Miami has the best soundtrack gameplay in town. The story is interesting and if you're played Hotline Miami 2 you might be able to make sense of it but if you're playing it for the first time just think of it philosophical questions they giving you

    Had me hooked from start to finish. A compelling story carried by excellent (and superbly challenging) gameplay, and an art-style underlining the tone and feel of the game, Hotline Miami is simply masterfull.
    The music originally striking me as the games only weak point, where games such as Party Hard having nailed the sound part of the game, Hotline Miami simply felt slightly tone deaf    Had me hooked from start to finish. A compelling story carried by excellent (and superbly challenging) gameplay, and an art-style underlining the tone and feel of the game, Hotline Miami is simply masterfull.
    The music originally striking me as the games only weak point, where games such as Party Hard having nailed the sound part of the game, Hotline Miami simply felt slightly tone deaf by comparison. Though throughout my time with the game the simple, drum heavy, electronic tracks grew on me. In the end being one of the defining parts of our main character, adding to the feeling of the game. It fits the games tone perfectly.

    The gameplay being one of the most challanging ever, though at no point did it feel truly unfair, just unforgiving. Any mistake can, and will, lead to death. Be prepared to spend up to hours trying to clear the same level.
    The games artstyle being simplistic, works well. It's not the sort of game where you would want a lot of detail things going on all over the place. It works perfectly and is done with enough colour and style for anyone to enjoy.

    A brilliant Indie game, at this point i haven't played Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, but if it lives up to the original in any way, i'm in for one hell of a ride. Recommended in a heartbeat, especially at the price it can be found at on Steam during any sale.    … Expand

    This game is weird, it feels a lot like an acid trip but it's also innovative, fun and satisfying.
    The story is really confusing, it doesn't tell it in a correct order, the characters were uninteresting because you never have the time to know anyone. But one element that surprised me about hotline miami was    Hotline Miami is an old-school shooter-beat em up game made by Devolver Digital.

    The story is really confusing, it doesn't tell it in a correct order, the characters were uninteresting because you never have the time to know anyone. But one element that surprised me about hotline miami was the philosophy in it, it makes us question violence in video games which is ironic but also clever.

    The gameplay is fun, bloody and satisfying but can be frustrating because of bad AI, the enemies have really fast reflexes but ignore the bodies on the floor just next to them.
    You can beat this game doing stealth or just running and shooting, both tactics work and it's really fun, the weapons control very well and the aiming mechanic is effective so even with bad AI, the gameplay was a success.

    This game really surprised me with the philosophie and the bloody and satisfying gameplay, I really recommend it, it's not perfect and it is pretty short, but I do think it's worth it.    … Expand

    Ну это просто шедевр. Бодрый геймплей под крутую музыку в стиле ретровейва в 80х годах. Тема с масками и ультранасилием очень крутая и стильная.

    It's a very specified game. I take a lot of fun from this game. Blood, retro music, brutality, colorfull levels, interesting gameplay, nice history. Awesome! It's a one of that indie games - you should to play :)

    Such an original idea brought into life with great precision. Eveything this game offers, it gives it to you. Definitely one of my go-to game during long summer nights.

    Już na samym początku rozgrywki rzucają się w oczy podobieństwa do filmu Drive z 2011 roku, dotyczy to szczególnie postaci głównego bohatera. W grze nie ograniczamy się jednak do roli kierowcy, jesteśmy zabójcą który bez chwili wahania gotowy jest odebrać komuś życie. Brutalność jest tutaj chlebem powszednim, wszędzie krew i porozrzucane części ciała. Nasz bohater nie przebiera w środkach,Już na samym początku rozgrywki rzucają się w oczy podobieństwa do filmu Drive z 2011 roku, dotyczy to szczególnie postaci głównego bohatera. W grze nie ograniczamy się jednak do roli kierowcy, jesteśmy zabójcą który bez chwili wahania gotowy jest odebrać komuś życie. Brutalność jest tutaj chlebem powszednim, wszędzie krew i porozrzucane części ciała. Nasz bohater nie przebiera w środkach, żeby dojść do celu. Dziwne, jak przy tak „oszczędnej” grafice udało się twórcom przedstawić to w tak dosadny sposób. Nie jest to może „kamień milowy” w historii elektronicznej rozrywki, raptem gra na kilka godzin. Oferuje nam jednak coś, co ostatnio rzadko daje się odczuć - prawdziwą frajdę płynącą z rozgrywki. Gorąco polecam! ;-)

    nice gameplay and old school graphics, insane characters, very hard die and retry and interesting scenario in someway ! one of the best die and retry i ever played. time to finished the game is pretty short but the difficulty can increased the longevity.

    Коротко: Hotline Miami - выдающийся сюрреалистический, нуарный (и даже пост-модернистский) опыт современных компьютерных игр, в который стоит поиграть каждому. Одна из самых стильных игр прошлого десятилетия, и все эти эпитеты не мешают быть данной игре действительно увлекательной в геймплейном плане. Крошить пачками русских бандитов, которые чувствуют себя в Майами, как дома, потому что они живут на территории русско-американской коалиции (да, лор здесь тоже действительно увлекательный) - это весело. Иногда нужно помыслить мозгами, иногда нужно действовать по стелсу, и иногда это довольно сложно, но это всегда весело. Ну и я не могу не упомянуть про саундтрек, который тоже задал волну определённой синтвэйв и даунтемпо стилистики в игровой музыке (как не странно, El Huervo, треки которого были весьма запоминающимися в Hotline Miami, были также заглавными в игре SteamWorld Dig 2, которую я прошёл сразу же следующей, ничего об таком совпадении не подозревая.     Hotline Miami is extremely fast paced and gory top-down shooter with well fitting soundtrack. It got great atmosphere and almost no story.

    I cant describe how much I love this game. The sound is awesome and the style of the 80s too. This game is really special and everyone should try it!

On the contrary, the fast and addictive gameplay will make you repeat the same levels over andOne of the best indie games, a spectacular achievement which paved the way for many other indies. On the contrary, the fast and addictive gameplay will make you repeat the same levels over and over and you will feel a good sense of accomplishment when you manage to complete a level. Sound design is superb.

    I was told by many friends that I should try this. The screenshots hadn’t drawn me in and with regards to being way too late to jump into Hotline Miami bandwagon, I plead guilty. Hotline Miami is psychedelic, violent and often sick. Once you get the hang of it, you won’t put it down. Choose your favorite mask and enjoy playing the psycho killer.

    This is a great game. It's very simple, but the things it does just works. A trippy and hyperviolent atmosphere, a great soundtrack, good gameplay, and amazing presentation. This game nails it all.

    Now, I can say that the game it's a very cool proposal, isn't an only violence and gore, this game come to the bottom of our minds, the personality problems, the inside conflicts, and many related things.
    This isn't a game about a person killing people, this is a game about us killing... something...

    I like this game. Vaporwave aesthetics just fit the game. If they weren't, game would be 5/10 or less. Music made me appreciate vaporwave. Definitely a game to play on. Not for casuals though, this game is frustrating. It is a challenge, but maybe too much.

    Отличная игра с невероятной атмосферой, при том, что является изометрией, но погружает по полной. Хардкор, ультранасилие, уникальный геймплей и пожалуй единственный случай, где стилистика для Инди-игры оправдана.

Walking around smashing incredibly pixelated heads in with a samurai sword, only to steal the man you just killed's shotgun to blast your way through tons of enemies is a blast.     Hotline Miami is far more that what I had imagined when I first saw its screenshots for the first time. "How come my friends are recommending so insistently this 8/16 bits game ?". And here I am, after completing the two episodes, thinking they're definitely both among the best games I've played. Just that.

    Three elements make Hotline Miami great: 1) its gameplay. Although seemingly    Hotline Miami is far more that what I had imagined when I first saw its screenshots for the first time. "How come my friends are recommending so insistently this 8/16 bits game ?". And here I am, after completing the two episodes, thinking they're definitely both among the best games I've played. Just that.

    Three elements make Hotline Miami great:

    1) its gameplay. Although seemingly simple, the gameplay is surprisingly nervous, fast-paced and enjoyable. Seeing the enemies behind the walls allows to plan your actions, but after the first bullet is shot, the adrenaline kicks-in and your reflexes and speed of action have to do the rest. Gory, nervous, just like Jacket really is.

    2) its atmosphere. How can a seemingly retro game make a player feel nervous, crazy, repulsed by the craziness, or enjoy violence ? Yet with cynical details on the characters' faces, sequences of Jacket talking to his masks, or aggressive dialogues, the atmosphere is set and felt intensely. And this aspect is even pushed much further in the second episode.

    3) its scenario. Yes, this game looks like shooting everywhere, but once you reached the end of the game you come to realise many things and that there is a real, well-thought story behind all this. And there again, it's the tip of the iceberg until you play the second episode.

    Add to this divine soundtracks, and you get a true masterpiece. Absolute must-have.    … Expand

    80's Miami was a hub for drugs and violence, you see that clearly in this game.
    You experience it through a crazy, nightmare inducing storyline where nothing is explained to you, you're left alone trying to figure it out as you murder every single person in your path, creating a bloody mess while listening to the most perfect soundtrack maybe ever.

    This in definitely an incredible indie game. Every single ounce of this game is oozing with style and 80s flair. The soundtrack is easily one of the best i have heard in a video game ever and fits absolutely beautifully to the setting. The combat can be brutally difficult and challenging but also fair. Every time you die you feel like its your fault. The game also has a fair amount ofThis in definitely an incredible indie game. Every single ounce of this game is oozing with style and 80s flair. The soundtrack is easily one of the best i have heard in a video game ever and fits absolutely beautifully to the setting. The combat can be brutally difficult and challenging but also fair. Every time you die you feel like its your fault. The game also has a fair amount of content considering that it has been made by a smaller indie team and will likely give you a good few hours of playtime.

    I find myself coming back to this game frequently, the setting, style, music and combat truly make this game one of the most well made indie game i have ever played.

    a man goes to the doctor. says he's depressed. he says life seems harsh and cruel. says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. the doctor says "the treatment is simple. the great clown pagliacci is in town tonight. go and see him, that should pick you up." the man bursts into tears. he says "but doctor... i am pagliacci."

    Hotline Miami - Невероятно драйвовый, двухмерный, пиксельный взрывной экшен 24/7 бросающий вызов. Пока сам не попробуешь, не поймешь в чем суть.     Hotline Miami is a kinetic and addictive fever dream of a haunting narrative and pulse pounding gameplay.

    Hotline Miami is only held back by several progression oversights (the survive one bullet mask being found after survive two bullets mask) and consistent bugs (dog behavior/inconsistent doors/enemies running out of the map).     This retro styled game with ultra-modern gameplay is a must play in my opinion. It's difficult but it's so good and rewarding. The entire Hotline Miami plot can be difficult to understand at times, so I suggest you go watch a video about it. When you understand it it's a really gripping story and it hits in a certain way, that only red dead    Truly unlike anything you've ever tried.

    An extremely fun and fast game if you want to throw some stress this game is exactly for you, I think the only problem was in the section where the panthers were in that part I was very difficult to do it was unnecessary I think it was not the main boss battle anyway.

    From the get-go, Miami’s presentation has a unique style, with vivid colors, generous amounts of post-process filtering and a stunning soundtrack (you will just let the game play on, only to hear the tracks). But at the same time, all notions of continuous fast-paced action gameplay disappear. Hotline Miami is essentially a top-down stealth game, that rewards the player with imaginative (and quite violent) kill animations. [January 2013]
